< Thaburi 39 >

1 Thaburi ya Daudi Ndoigire atĩrĩ, “Ndĩĩmenyagĩrĩra mĩthiĩre yakwa, ndĩrigagĩrĩrie ndikehie na rũrĩmĩ rwakwa; nĩnguoha kanua gakwa rĩrĩa rĩothe mũndũ mwaganu arĩ harĩa ndĩ.”
To the Overseer, to Jeduthun. — A Psalm of David. I have said, 'I observe my ways, Against sinning with my tongue, I keep for my mouth a curb, while the wicked [is] before me.'
2 No rĩrĩa ndakirĩte na ngahoorera, itekwaria o na ũndũ mwega-rĩ, ruo rwakwa rũgĩkĩrĩrĩria kuongerereka.
I was dumb [with] silence, I kept silent from good, and my pain is excited.
3 Ngoro yakwa yahĩĩahĩaga thĩinĩ wakwa, na o rĩrĩa ndecũũranagia, mwaki ũgĩakana; hĩndĩ ĩyo ngĩaria na rũrĩmĩ rwakwa, ngiuga atĩrĩ:
Hot [is] my heart within me, In my meditating doth the fire burn, I have spoken with my tongue.
4 “Wee Jehova, nyonia mũthia wa mũtũũrĩre wakwa, o na mũigana wa matukũ makwa; nĩngĩmenye ũrĩa mũtũũrĩre wakwa ũrĩ wa gũthira na ihenya.
'Cause me to know, O Jehovah, mine end, And the measure of my days — what it [is],' I know how frail I [am].
5 Ũtũmĩte matukũ makwa makuhĩhe ta rũhĩ; mũigana wa mĩaka yakwa ti ta kĩndũ harĩwe. Mũndũ o wothe ũrĩ muoyo o na rĩrĩa ehaandĩte wega nĩ kĩndũ gĩa tũhũ.
Lo, handbreadths Thou hast made my days, And mine age [is] as nothing before Thee, Only, all vanity [is] every man set up. (Selah)
6 Ti-itherũ mũndũ nĩ ta kĩĩruru rĩrĩa egũcangacanga: Mĩhangʼo ĩrĩa ehangʼagia nayo no ya tũhũ; eigagĩra ũtonga, no ndooĩ nũũ ũkeeguna naguo.
Only, in an image doth each walk habitually, Only, [in] vain, they are disquieted, He heapeth up and knoweth not who gathereth them.
7 “No rĩu, Mwathani-rĩ, nĩ kĩĩ njetereire? Wee nĩwe mwĩhoko wakwa.
And, now, what have I expected? O Lord, my hope — it [is] of Thee.
8 Honokia kuuma mehia-inĩ makwa mothe; ndũkareke thekererwo nĩ andũ arĩa akĩĩgu.
From all my transgressions deliver me, A reproach of the fool make me not.
9 Ndakirĩte ki; ndingĩatumũrire kanua gakwa, nĩgũkorwo nĩwe wekĩte ũguo.
I have been dumb, I open not my mouth, Because Thou — Thou hast done [it].
10 Njehereria ihũũra rĩaku; nĩhootetwo nĩ iringa rĩa guoko gwaku.
Turn aside from off me Thy stroke, From the striving of Thy hand I have been consumed.
11 We ũrũithagia na ũkaherithia andũ nĩ ũndũ wa mehia mao; ũniinaga ũtonga wao ta memenyi; mũndũ no ta kĩndũ gĩa tũhũ.
With reproofs against iniquity, Thou hast corrected man, And dost waste as a moth his desirableness, Only, vanity [is] every man. (Selah)
12 “Igua ihooya rĩakwa, Wee Jehova, thikĩrĩria ngĩgũkaĩra ũndeithie; ndũkarege kũigua kĩrĩro gĩakwa. Nĩgũkorwo njikaranagia nawe ta ndĩ mũgeni, ngahaana ta mũndũ ũthaamĩire kuo, o ta ũrĩa maithe makwa mothe maatariĩ.
Hear my prayer, O Jehovah, And [to] my cry give ear, Unto my tear be not silent, For a sojourner I [am] with Thee, A settler like all my fathers.
13 Wĩhũgũre na kũngĩ ũtige kũnyona, nĩguo ngĩkene rĩngĩ, itanathiĩ njage gũkorwo ho rĩngĩ.”
Look from me, and I brighten up before I go and am not!
