< Thaburi 140 >
1 Thaburi ya Daudi Wee Jehova, hatũra kuuma moko-inĩ ma andũ arĩa ooru; ngitĩra harĩ andũ arĩa mahũthagĩra ũhinya,
Deliver me, Adonai, from the evil man. Preserve me from the violent man;
2 o acio mathugundaga maũndũ mooru ngoro-inĩ ciao, na magathugunda mbaara o mũthenya.
those who devise mischief in their hearts. They continually gather themselves together for war.
3 Manooraga nĩmĩ ciao ikohĩga ta rũrĩmĩ rwa nyoka; mĩromo yao yaragia maũndũ marũrũ ta thumu wa nduĩra.
They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent. Viper’s poison is under their lips. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
4 Wee Jehova, njeheria moko-inĩ ma andũ arĩa aaganu; ngitĩra kuuma harĩ andũ arĩa mahũthagĩra ũhinya, o acio mabangaga ũrĩa mangĩhĩnga magũrũ makwa.
Adonai, keep me from the hands of the wicked. Preserve me from the violent men who have determined to trip my feet.
5 Andũ arĩa etĩĩi nĩmanyambĩire mũtego; nĩmatambũrũkĩtie ndigi cia wabu wao, na makanjigĩra mĩtego njĩra-inĩ yakwa.
The proud have hidden a snare for me, they have spread the cords of a net by the path. They have set traps for me. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
6 Wee Jehova, nguuga atĩrĩ, “Wee nĩwe Mũrungu wakwa.” Wee Jehova-rĩ, igua ngĩgũkaĩra nĩguo, ũnjiguĩre tha.
I said to Adonai, “You are my God.” Listen to the cry of my petitions, Adonai.
7 Wee Mwathani Jehova, o Wee ũrĩa mũũhonokia ũrĩ hinya, Wee ũgitagĩra mũtwe wakwa mũthenya wa mbaara:
Adonai, the Lord, the strength of my yishu'ah ·salvation·, you have covered my head in the day of battle.
8 Wee Jehova, ndũkahingĩrie arĩa aaganu merirĩria mao, ndũkareke mĩbango yao ĩgaacĩre, matikae gwĩtĩĩa.
Adonai, don’t grant the desires of the wicked. Don’t let their evil plans succeed, or they will become proud. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
9 Mĩtwe ya arĩa mandigicĩirie ĩrohumbĩkanio na mathĩĩna marĩa marehetwo nĩ mĩromo yao.
As for the head of those who surround me, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.
10 Marogwĩrwo nĩ makara me gwakana; maroikio mwaki-inĩ, maikio marima marĩ mũtondo, kũrĩa matakoima o na rĩ.
Let burning coals fall on them. Let them be thrown into the fire, into miry pits, from where they never rise.
11 Ndũkanareke arĩa macambanagia magaacĩre bũrũri-inĩ; mwanangĩko ũrothingata andũ arĩa mahũthagĩra ũhinya.
An evil speaker won’t be established in the earth. Evil will hunt the violent man to overthrow him.
12 Niĩ nĩnjũũĩ atĩ Jehova nĩarũagĩra kĩhooto kĩa arĩa athĩĩni, na akagitĩra kĩhooto kĩa arĩa abatari.
I know that Adonai will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and mishpat ·justice· for the needy.
13 Ti-itherũ arĩa athingu nĩmarĩgoocaga rĩĩtwa rĩaku, na arĩa arũngĩrĩru nĩmagatũũra ũthiũ-inĩ waku.
Surely the upright will yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise· to your name. The upright will dwell in your presence.
