< Thaburi 139 >

1 Thaburi ya Daudi Wee Jehova-rĩ, nĩũũthuthuurĩtie na ũkaamenya.
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known [me].
2 Nĩũĩ rĩrĩa njikarĩte thĩ na rĩrĩa njũkĩrĩte ũkamenya meciiria makwa ũrĩ o kũraya.
Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
3 Nĩũũĩ ngiumagara o na ngĩkoma; Wee nĩũũĩ mĩthiĩre yakwa yothe.
Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted [with] all my ways.
4 Wee Jehova-rĩ, itanagweta kiugo na rũrĩmĩ rwakwa, Wee nĩũkoragwo ũkĩũĩ biũ.
For [there is] not a word in my tongue, [but], lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
5 Nĩũnjirigĩire mbere na thuutha; nĩũnjigĩrĩire guoko gwaku.
Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
6 Ũmenyo ta ũcio nĩ wa magegania mũno harĩ niĩ, ũrĩ igũrũ mũno ndingĩũkinyĩra.
[Such] knowledge [is] too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot [attain] unto it.
7 Nĩ kũ ingĩthiĩ njeherere Roho waku? Ingĩũrĩra kũ nyume ũthiũ-inĩ waku?
Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 Ingĩambata thiĩ igũrũ, Wee ũrĩ kuo; ingĩara ũrĩrĩ wakwa kũrĩa kũriku mũno, Wee ũrĩ o kuo. (Sheol h7585)
If I ascend up into heaven, thou [art] there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou [art there]. (Sheol h7585)
9 Ingĩũmbũka na mathagu ma gũgĩkĩa, ingĩthiĩ gũtũũra mũrĩmo ũrĩa ũngĩ wa iria, kũndũ kũraya mũno,
[If] I take the wings of the morning, [and] dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 o na kũu guoko gwakwa nokuo kũngĩndongoria, guoko gwaku kwa ũrĩo gũkĩĩnyiite kũnũmĩtie.
Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11 Ingiuga atĩrĩ, “Ti-itherũ nduma nĩĩkũũhitha, naguo ũtheri ũyũ ũũthiũrũrũkĩirie ũtuĩke ũtukũ,”
If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
12 o na nduma ndĩrĩ hĩndĩ ĩngĩgũtumanĩra; ũtukũ ũkwara ta mũthenya, nĩgũkorwo nduma kũrĩ we nĩ ta ũtheri.
Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light [are] both alike [to thee].
13 Nĩgũkorwo nĩwe wombire ciĩga ciakwa cia na thĩinĩ; wanyiitithanirie ndĩ o nda ya maitũ.
For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 Nĩngũkũgooca nĩ ũndũ mũũmbĩre ũrĩa nyũmbĩtwo naguo nĩ wa kũmakania na wa magegania; ciĩko ciaku nĩ cia magegania, niĩ mwene nĩnjũũĩ ũguo o wega.
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made: marvellous [are] thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well.
15 Mahĩndĩ makwa matiahithĩkĩte harĩwe, rĩrĩa ndoombĩirwo kũrĩa kũhitharu. Rĩrĩa ndanyiitithanagio hamwe ndĩ thĩ kũrĩa kũriku mũno-rĩ,
My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, [and] curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 maitho maku nĩmonaga mwĩrĩ wakwa ũtanombwo biũ. Matukũ mothe marĩa nyamũrĩirwo nĩmandĩkĩtwo ibuku-inĩ rĩaku o na mbere ya ũmwe wamo kũgĩa.
Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all [my members] were written, [which] in continuance were fashioned, when [as yet there was] none of them.
17 Hĩ! Ĩ meciiria maku matikĩrĩ ma bata harĩ niĩ, Wee Mũrungu! Kaĩ mũigana wamo nĩ mũnene-ĩ!
How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
18 Ingĩtua kũmatara, no maingĩhe gũkĩra mũthanga. Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa ndokĩra, ndĩ o hamwe nawe.
[If] I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.
19 Wee Ngai-rĩ, naarĩ korwo woraga arĩa aaganu! Njehererai, inyuĩ mũnyootagĩra gũita thakame!
Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.
20 Maaragia ũhoro waku marĩ na meciiria mooru; arĩa magũthũire mahũthagĩra rĩĩtwa rĩaku ũũru.
For they speak against thee wickedly, [and] thine enemies take [thy name] in vain.
21 Wee Jehova, githĩ ndithũire arĩa magũthũire, na ngamena arĩa magũũkagĩrĩra?
Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?
22 Gũthũũra ndĩmathũire o biũ; ndĩmatuaga thũ ciakwa.
I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.
23 Wee Mũrungu, thuthuuria, ũmenye ngoro yakwa; ngeria ũmenye meciiria makwa.
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 Rora wone kana nĩ harĩ mĩthiĩre mĩũru thĩinĩ wakwa, na ũkĩndongorie na njĩra ĩrĩa ya tene na tene.
And see if [there be any] wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
