1 Thaburi ya Daudi Korwo Jehova ndaakoretwo arĩ mwena witũ; Isiraeli nĩmakiuge ũguo:

A song of ascents. Of David. “Had it not been the Lord who was for us” let Israel say

2 Korwo Jehova ndaarĩ mwena witũ rĩrĩa andũ maatũtharĩkĩire-rĩ,

“Had it not been the Lord who was for us when enemies rose against us,

3 nĩmangĩatũmeririe tũrĩ muoyo; rĩrĩa marakara mao maatũrĩrĩmbũkĩire-rĩ,

then alive they’d have swallowed us up, when their anger was kindled against us.

4 mũiyũro wa maaĩ nĩũngĩatũhubanĩirie, tũhumbwo nĩ nditi ya maaĩ macio;

Then the waters would’ve swept us away, and the torrent passed over us clean:

5 maaĩ macio maathereraga na hinya mũno nĩmangĩatũthereririe.

then most sure would’ve passed over us clean the wild seething waters.”

6 Jehova arogoocwo, o we ũtaatũrekereirie tũtambuurangwo nĩ magego mao.

Blest be the Lord who has given us not to be torn by their teeth.

7 Ithuĩ tũhonokete ta nyoni ĩhonokete mũtego-inĩ wa mũmĩtegi; mũtego nĩunangĩtwo, na ithuĩ nĩtũhonokete.

We are like a bird just escaped from the snare of the fowler. The snare is broken, and we are escaped.

8 Ũteithio witũ uumaga harĩ Jehova, o we Mũũmbi wa igũrũ na thĩ.

Our help is the name of the Lord, the Creator of heaven and earth.
