< Thaburi 114 >
1 Rĩrĩa Isiraeli moimire bũrũri wa Misiri, nyũmba ya Jakubu ĩkiuma kũrĩ andũ a rũthiomi rũngĩ-rĩ,
When Israel went out of Egypt, and the house of Iaakob from the barbarous people,
2 Juda gwatuĩkire handũ ha Ngai haamũre, na Isiraeli gũgĩtuĩka nĩkuo arĩathanaga.
Iudah was his sanctification, and Israel his dominion.
3 Iria rĩonire ũguo rĩkĩũra, naruo Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani rũgĩcooka na thuutha;
The Sea sawe it and fled: Iorden was turned backe.
4 Irĩma igĩtũhatũũha ta ndũrũme, natuo tũrĩma tũgĩtũhatũũha ta tũgondu.
The mountaines leaped like rams, and the hils as lambes.
5 Kaĩ wonire atĩa, wee iria, nĩguo ũre, nawe Jorodani, tondũ wacookire na thuutha?
What ailed thee, O Sea, that thou fleddest? O Iorden, why wast thou turned backe?
6 Inyuĩ irĩma, muonete kĩ, nĩguo mũtũhatũũhe ta ndũrũme, na inyuĩ tũrĩma, nĩguo mũtũhatũũhe ta tũgondu?
Ye mountaines, why leaped ye like rams, and ye hils as lambes?
7 Wee thĩ, ta kĩinaine ũrĩ mbere ya Mwathani, ũrĩ hau mbere ya Ngai ũcio wa Jakubu,
The earth trembled at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Iaakob,
8 o we ũcio wagarũrire rwaro rwa ihiga rũgĩtuĩka karia ka maaĩ, narĩo ihiga rĩũmũ rĩgĩtuĩka ithima cia maaĩ.
Which turneth the rocke into waterpooles, and the flint into a fountaine of water.
