< Thaburi 10 >

1 Wee Jehova, ũkũrũgama haraaya nĩkĩ? Wĩhithaga nĩkĩ hĩndĩ ya mathĩĩna?
Lord, why are you so distant? Why do you hide from me in times of trouble?
2 Mũndũ ũrĩa mwaganu etĩĩaga rĩrĩa ekũhĩta andũ arĩa matarĩ hinya, rĩrĩa magwatio nĩ mĩbango ĩyo mathugundĩte.
The wicked chase down the poor with impunity. May they be trapped by the evil schemes they themselves invented.
3 Mũndũ ũrĩa mwaganu erahagĩra merirĩria ma ngoro yake; arathimaga andũ arĩa akoroku, na akaruma Jehova.
For the wicked boast about what they want to do. They praise the greedy, but treat the Lord with contempt.
4 Mũndũ ũcio mwĩtĩĩi ndarongoragia Ngai; meciiria-inĩ make mothe ndeciiragia ũhoro wa Ngai.
The wicked are too proud to come to God. In all their thinking they never consider God.
5 Njĩra ciake ciikaraga igaacĩire hĩndĩ ciothe; we nĩ mwĩtĩĩi mũno, namo mawatho maku nĩmamũraihĩrĩirie; we nĩkũnyũrũria anyũrũragia arĩa marĩ ũthũ nake.
What they do always seems to go well. They're unaware of God's judgments. They ridicule all their enemies.
They tell themselves, “Nothing bad is going to happen to me. I'll never be in trouble!”
7 Kanua gake kaiyũrĩte irumi na maheeni, o na kũguoyohithania; mĩtangĩko na mĩario mĩũru ĩrĩ rũrĩmĩ-inĩ rwake.
Their speech is full of cursing, lies, and threats; their tongues are always ready to spread trouble and cause evil.
8 Aikaraga oheirie andũ hakuhĩ na matũũra: ageterera arĩa matarĩ na ũũru akamooraga, aikaraga acũthĩrĩirie na hitho mũndũ ũrĩa ũtarĩ na mũmũteithia.
They hide out in ambush in the villages, ready to kill innocent passers-by. They are always on the lookout for their next victim.
9 Aikaraga oheirie o ta mũrũũthi ũrĩ kĩmamo-inĩ kĩaguo; agaikara oheirie nĩguo anyiite arĩa matarĩ na hinya; anyiitaga arĩa matarĩ na hinya, akamakururia akamatwara mũtego-inĩ wake.
They lie in ambush like a lion ready to attack, ready to leap out from their hiding place to seize their victim. They capture the helpless, throwing a net over them.
10 Ahehenjaga andũ acio matarĩ na wa kũmateithia, makaringĩka; magũũaga thĩ nĩ ũndũ wa hinya wake.
Their victims are knocked down, laid low. They fall under the strength of the wicked.
11 Eĩĩraga na ngoro atĩrĩ, “Mũrungu nĩariganĩirwo: nĩehumbĩrĩte ũthiũ na ndoonaga.”
They tell themselves, “God won't notice. He's looking the other way. He won't ever see anything.”
12 Arahũka, Jehova! Ambararia guoko gwaku na igũrũ, Wee Mũrungu. Tiga kũriganĩrwo nĩ arĩa matarĩ na hinya.
Take a stand, Lord! Raise your hand to strike! Don't forget those who can't defend themselves.
13 Nĩ kĩĩ gĩtũmaga mũndũ ũrĩa mwaganu arume Ngai? Nĩ kĩĩ gĩtũmaga eĩĩre na ngoro atĩrĩ, “We ndangĩrĩhania?”
Why do the wicked think they can treat God with such contempt? Why do they think that God won't make them accountable?
14 No rĩrĩ, Wee Ngai, Wee nĩwonaga mathĩĩna o na kĩeha, ũkoona ũhoro ũcio ũkawamũkĩra moko-inĩ maku. Mũndũ ũrĩa ũtarĩ wa kũmũteithia eneanaga harĩwe. Wee nĩwe mũteithia wa andũ arĩa matarĩ maithe mao.
But you do see the trouble and grief they cause. Take it into your own hands. The helpless trust in you; you defend the orphans.
15 Una guoko kwa mũndũ ũrĩa mwaganu na kwa ũrĩa mũũru; mũrĩhie nĩ ũndũ wa waganu wake ũcio ũtangĩmenyeka.
Destroy the power of the wicked, those evil people! Call each of them to account until there are none left!
16 Jehova nĩwe Mũthamaki wa nginya tene; ndũrĩrĩ nĩigathira ciehere bũrũri-inĩ wake.
Lord, you are King forever and ever! The nations will vanish from their lands.
17 Wee Jehova, nĩũiguaga wendi wa andũ arĩa anyamaarie; nĩũmomagĩrĩria, na ũgathikĩrĩria gũkaya kwao,
Lord, you have heard the longing cries of those who are suffering. You will encourage them, for you will listen to them.
18 ũgitagĩra andũ arĩa matarĩ maithe na arĩa ahinyĩrĩrie, nĩgeetha mũndũ, ũrĩa ũrĩ o wa thĩ, ndagacooke gwĩkanĩra guoya.
You will defend the rights of orphans and the oppressed so that those who are mere human beings here on earth will never terrorize them again.
