< Thimo 9 >
1 Ũũgĩ nĩakĩte nyũmba yake; nĩaicũhĩtie itugĩ ciayo mũgwanja.
Wisdom has built her own house; she has carved seven pillars out of rocks.
2 Nĩahaarĩirie nyama, na akahaarĩria ndibei, o na akaara metha yake.
She has slaughtered her animals; she has mixed her wine; and she has set her table.
3 Nĩatũmĩte ndungata ciake cia airĩtu nja, na nĩaretana arĩ harĩa hatũũgĩru mũno itũũra-inĩ rĩrĩa inene, akoiga atĩrĩ:
She has sent out her maids; she calls out from the highest points of the city,
4 “Andũ arĩa othe matarĩ na ũũgĩ nĩmoke gũkũ!” Ningĩ akeera andũ arĩa maagĩĩte ũtaũku atĩrĩ,
“Who is naive? Let him turn aside here!” To the one lacking good sense she speaks.
5 Ũkai mũrĩe irio ciakwa, na mũnyue ndibei ĩrĩa ndĩmũthondekeire.
“Come, eat my food, and drink the wine I have mixed.
6 Tiganai na mĩthiĩre yanyu ĩtarĩ ya ũũgĩ, na nĩmũgũtũũra muoyo; cookai gũthiiaga na njĩra ya ũtaũku.
Leave your naive actions and live; walk in the path of understanding.
7 “Ũrĩa wothe ũtaaraga mũnyũrũrania eĩtagĩria irumi; na ũrĩa wothe ũkaanagia mũndũ mwaganu egĩĩragĩra njono.
Whoever disciplines a mocker receives abuse, and whoever rebukes a wicked person receives insults.
8 Ndũkanataare mũnyũrũrania, nĩguo ndagagũthũũre; kaania mũndũ mũũgĩ, nake nĩegũkwenda.
Do not reprove a mocker, or he will hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you.
9 Taara mũndũ mũũgĩ na nĩegũkĩrĩrĩria kũũhĩga; mũndũ mũthingu mũrute, na nĩekuongerera ũũgĩ wake.
Give to a wise person, and he will become even wiser; teach a righteous person, and he will add to his learning.
10 “Kĩambĩrĩria kĩa ũũgĩ nĩ gwĩtigĩra Jehova, na kũmenya Ũrĩa Mũtheru nĩkuo gũtaũkĩrwo.
The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
11 Nĩgũkorwo nĩ ũndũ wakwa matukũ maku nĩmakaingĩha, na wongererwo mĩaka ya gũtũũra muoyo.
For through me your days will be multiplied, and years of life will be added to you.
12 Ũngĩkorwo ũrĩ mũũgĩ-rĩ, ũũgĩ waku nĩũgakũguna; na ũngĩkorwo ũrĩ mũnyũrũrania-rĩ, we nowe ũkaanyariirĩka.”
If you are wise, you are wise for yourself, and if you mock, you will carry it by yourself.”
13 Mũndũ-wa-nja ũrĩa wĩtagwo Mũkĩĩgu nĩ wa inegene; we ndarĩ mũtugo, na ndarĩ ũmenyo.
The woman of foolishness is ignorant; she is untaught and knows nothing.
14 Aikaraga thĩ mũrango-inĩ wa nyũmba yake, agaikarĩra gĩtĩ harĩa hatũũgĩru mũno itũũra-inĩ rĩrĩa inene,
She sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the highest places of the town.
15 ageetaga arĩa marehĩtũkĩra, arĩa marethiĩra na njĩra ciao.
She is calling out to those who pass by in the streets, to people walking straight on their way.
16 Ameeraga atĩrĩ, “Andũ arĩa othe matarĩ na ũũgĩ nĩmoke gũkũ!” Nao arĩa maagĩĩte ũtaũku akameera atĩrĩ:
“Let anyone who is naive turn aside here,” she says to those who have no sense.
17 “Maaĩ ma kũiya marĩ mũrĩo; o na irio iria irĩĩagĩrwo hitho-inĩ irĩ cama!”
“Stolen waters are sweet, and bread of secrecy is delicious.”
18 No andũ acio matikoragwo makĩmenya atĩ arĩa akuũ marĩ kũu, na atĩ ageni ake marĩ o kũrĩa kũriku mbĩrĩra-inĩ. (Sheol )
But he does not know that the dead are there, that her invited guests are in the depths of Sheol. (Sheol )
