< Thimo 8 >
1 Githĩ ũũgĩ ndareetana? Githĩ ũtaũku ndaranĩrĩra na mũgambo wake?
Does not wisdom call out, and understanding raise her voice?
2 Njĩra-inĩ kũrĩa gũtũũgĩru, na magomano-inĩ ma njĩra-rĩ, nĩho ũũgĩ arũgamĩte;
On the heights overlooking the road, at the crossroads she takes her stand.
3 ningĩ hakuhĩ na ihingo iria cierekeire itũũra inene, o hau matoonyero-inĩ-rĩ, nĩho araanĩrĩra akoiga atĩrĩ:
Beside the gates to the city, at the entrances she cries out:
4 “Inyuĩ andũ nĩ inyuĩ ndĩreeta; ndĩraanĩrĩra na mũgambo wakwa kũrĩ andũ othe a thĩ.
“To you, O men, I call out, and my cry is to the sons of men.
5 Inyuĩ arĩa mũtarĩ na ũũgĩ, gĩai na ũbaarĩrĩri, inyuĩ arĩa akĩĩgu, gĩai na ũtaũku.
O simple ones, learn to be shrewd; O fools, gain understanding.
6 Thikĩrĩriai, nĩgũkorwo ndĩ na maũndũ ma bata ngwaria; ngũtumũra mĩromo yakwa njarie maũndũ marĩa magĩrĩire.
Listen, for I speak of noble things, and the opening of my lips will reveal right.
7 Kanua gakwa kaaragia ũhoro wa ma, nĩgũkorwo mĩromo yakwa nĩĩthũire waganu mũno ta kĩndũ kĩrĩ magigi.
For my mouth will speak the truth, and wickedness is detestable to my lips.
8 Ciugo ciothe cia kanua gakwa nĩ cia ũthingu; gũtirĩ o na kiugo kĩmwe gĩacio kĩogomu kana gĩa kũhĩtithania.
All the words of my mouth are righteous; none are crooked or perverse.
9 Kũrĩ arĩa makũũranaga maũndũ ciugo ciothe nĩciagĩrĩire; itirĩ mahĩtia kũrĩ arĩa marĩ na ũmenyo.
They are all plain to the discerning, and upright to those who find knowledge.
10 Thuurai mataaro makwa handũ ha betha, mũthuure ũmenyo handũ ha thahabu ĩrĩa njega mũno,
Receive my instruction instead of silver, and knowledge rather than pure gold.
11 nĩgũkorwo ũũgĩ nĩ wa goro gũkĩra ruru iria ndune, na gũtirĩ kĩndũ ũngĩĩrirĩria kĩngĩringithanio naguo.
For wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire compares with her.
12 “Niĩ ũũgĩ-rĩ, ndũũranagia na ũbaarĩrĩri; nĩndĩgwatĩire ũmenyo o na gũthugunda maũndũ mega.
I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion.
To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate arrogant pride, evil conduct, and perverse speech.
Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have insight and strength.
15 Athamaki mathamakaga nĩ ũndũ wa hinya wakwa nao aathani magathondeka mawatho ma kĩhooto;
By me kings reign, and rulers enact just laws;
16 anene mathamakaga nĩ ũndũ wa hinya wakwa, o ũndũ ũmwe na arĩa othe marĩ igweta arĩa maathanaga gũkũ thĩ.
By me princes rule, and all nobles who govern justly.
17 Nĩnyendete arĩa manyendete, nao arĩa manjaragia na kĩyo nĩmanyonaga.
I love those who love me, and those who seek me early shall find me.
With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and righteousness.
19 Maciaro makwa nĩ mega gũkĩra thahabu ĩrĩa therie; uumithio wakwa nĩũkĩrĩte betha ĩrĩa njega.
My fruit is better than gold, pure gold, and my harvest surpasses choice silver.
I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice,
21 ngĩheaga andũ arĩa manyendete ũtonga, na ngaiyũragia igĩĩna ciao.
bestowing wealth on those who love me and making their treasuries full.
22 “Jehova aanyũmbire o kĩambĩrĩria-inĩ kĩa wĩra wake, mbere ya mawĩra make ma tene;
The LORD created me as His first course, before His works of old.
23 ndaathuurirwo kuuma tene wa tene, kuuma o kĩambĩrĩria, thĩ ĩtarĩ yagĩa.
From everlasting I was established, from the beginning, before the earth began.
24 Rĩrĩa gũtaagĩte maria manene-rĩ, nĩguo ndaciarirwo, o hĩndĩ ĩrĩa gũtaarĩ matherũkĩro maiyũrĩte maaĩ;
When there were no watery depths, I was brought forth, when no springs were overflowing with water.
25 ndaciarirwo irĩma itanahaandwo harĩa irĩ, na tũrĩma tũtanagĩa,
Before the mountains were settled, before the hills, I was brought forth,
26 we atanoomba thĩ kana ithaka ciayo, o na kana rũkũngũ o ruothe rwa thĩ.
before He made the land or fields, or any of the dust of the earth.
27 Niĩ ndaarĩ o kuo hĩndĩ ĩrĩa aathondekire igũrũ na akĩrĩiga handũ ha rĩo, hĩndĩ ĩrĩa eekĩrire rũkiriri rwa kũrĩa kũriku,
I was there when He established the heavens, when He inscribed a circle on the face of the deep,
28 rĩrĩa aahaandire matu kũu igũrũ, na akĩrũmia ithima cia kũrĩa kũriku wega,
when He established the clouds above, when the fountains of the deep gushed forth,
when He set a boundary for the sea, so that the waters would not surpass His command, when He marked out the foundations of the earth.
Then I was a skilled craftsman at His side, and His delight day by day, rejoicing always in His presence.
31 ngakenagĩra thĩ yake yothe, na ngakenagio nĩ andũ othe a thĩ.
I was rejoicing in His whole world, delighting together in the sons of men.
32 “Atĩrĩrĩ ariũ akwa, ta thikĩrĩriai; kũrathimwo nĩ arĩa marũmagia njĩra ciakwa.
Now therefore, my sons, listen to me, for blessed are those who keep my ways.
33 Ta thikĩrĩriai mataaro makwa nĩguo mũhĩge; mũtikamarege.
Listen to instruction and be wise; do not ignore it.
34 Kũrathimwo nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũnjiguaga, agacũthagĩrĩria mĩrango-inĩ yakwa o mũthenya, akanjetagĩrĩra hingĩro-inĩ cia mĩrango yakwa.
Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at the posts of my doorway.
35 Nĩgũkorwo ũrĩa wothe ũgĩte na niĩ nĩ muoyo agĩte naguo, nake akagĩa na agetĩkĩrĩka harĩ Jehova.
For whoever finds me finds life and obtains the favor of the LORD.
36 No ũrĩa wothe ũhĩtanĩtie na niĩ nĩ ũũru eĩkaga; nao arĩa othe maathũire nĩ gĩkuũ mendete.”
But he who fails to find me harms himself; all who hate me love death.”
