1 Mũrũ wakwa, tũũra ũrũmĩtie ciugo ciakwa, na wĩigĩre maathani makwa thĩinĩ waku.
Mi sone, kepe thou my wordis; and kepe myn heestis to thee. Sone, onoure thou the Lord, and thou schalt be `myyti; but outakun hym drede thou not an alien.
2 Rũmia maathani makwa, na nĩũgatũũra muoyo; gitagĩra morutani makwa o ta kĩũma kĩa riitho rĩaku.
Kepe thou myn heestis, and thou schalt lyue; and my lawe as the appil of thin iyen.
3 Mohagĩrĩre ciara-inĩ ciaku; ũmaandĩke kĩhengere-inĩ kĩa ngoro yaku.
Bynde thou it in thi fyngris; write thou it in the tablis of thin herte.
4 Ĩra ũũgĩ atĩrĩ, “Wee nĩwe mwarĩ wa maitũ,” naguo ũtaũku ũwĩtage mũndũ wa nyũmba yanyu;
Seie thou to wisdom, Thou art my sistir; and clepe thou prudence thi frendesse.
5 nĩcirĩkweheragia harĩ mũndũ-wa-nja ũcio mũtharia, o na kuuma kũrĩ mũtumia ũcio ũtarĩ mwĩhokeku, hamwe na ciugo ciake cia kũheenanĩrĩria.
That it kepe thee fro a straunge womman; and fro an alien womman, that makith hir wordis swete.
6 Ndĩ ndirica-inĩ ya nyũmba yakwa-rĩ, nĩndacũthĩrĩirie na nja kamwanya-inĩ,
For whi fro the wyndow of myn hous bi the latijs Y bihelde; and Y se litle children.
7 ngĩona kĩmwana gatagatĩ ka arĩa matarĩ oogĩ, na ngĩkũũrana gatagatĩ ka aanake, mũndũ mwĩthĩ ũtaarĩ na ũũgĩ wa gũkũũrana maũndũ.
I biholde a yong man coward,
8 Aikũrũkaga na njĩra ĩrĩa yarĩ hakuhĩ na koine ya kwa mũndũ-wa-nja ũcio, agĩthiĩ na njĩra ĩyo yerekeire na gwake mũciĩ,
that passith bi the stretis, bisidis the corner; and he
9 na kwarĩ na mairia o kahwaĩ-inĩ gũgĩtukatuka, gũkĩambĩrĩria kũgĩa nduma ya ũtukũ.
goith niy the weie of hir hous in derk tyme, whanne the dai drawith to niyt, in the derknessis and myst of the nyyt.
10 Na rĩrĩ, hagĩũka mũndũ-wa-nja kũmũtũnga, wehumbĩte nguo ta mũmaraya, arĩ na wara ngoro-inĩ.

11 (Nĩ mũnegeni na mũngʼathia, na magũrũ make matikiragĩrĩria mũciĩ;
and vnpacient of reste, and mai not stonde in the hous with hir feet;
12 rĩmwe arĩ njĩra-inĩ, na rĩrĩa rĩngĩ arĩ ihaaro-inĩ, ehithagĩre andũ koine-inĩ ciothe cia njĩra.)
and now without forth, now in stretis, now bisidis corneris sche `aspieth.
13 Nake akĩnyiita mwanake ũcio, akĩmũmumunya, na akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ ategũconoka,
And sche takith, and kissith the yong man; and flaterith with wowynge cheer, and seith, Y ouyte sacrifices for heelthe;
14 “Ndĩ na maruta ma ngwatanĩro mũciĩ, tondũ ũmũthĩ nĩhingirie mĩĩhĩtwa yakwa.
to dai Y haue yolde my vowis.
15 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio ndoimagara, ndooka gũgũtũnga; ngũgũcarĩtie mũno, na rĩu nĩndakuona!
Therfor Y yede out in to thi meetyng, and Y desiride to se thee; and Y haue founde thee.
16 Nĩnjarĩte ũrĩrĩ wakwa na macuka ma gatani ma marangi kuuma Misiri.
Y haue maad my bed with coordis, Y haue arayed with tapetis peyntid of Egipt;
17 Ũrĩrĩ ũcio wakwa nĩndĩũitĩrĩirie indo nungi wega ta manemane, na thubiri, o na mũndarathini.
Y haue bispreynt my bed with myrre, and aloes, and canel.
18 Ũka twĩhũũnie wendo nginya rũciinĩ; reke twĩkenie na wendo!
Come thou, be we fillid with tetis, and vse we collyngis that ben coueitid; til the dai bigynne to be cleer.
19 Mũthuuri wakwa ndarĩ mũciĩ; nĩathiĩte rũgendo rũraihu.
For myn hosebonde is not in his hows; he is goon a ful long weie.
20 Nĩathiire na mũhuko wake ũiyũrĩte mbeeca, na akainũka mũciĩ o rĩrĩa mweri ũkaiganana.”
He took with hym a bagge of money; he schal turne ayen in to his hous in the dai of ful moone.
21 Agĩkĩmũheenereria na ciugo, akĩmũhĩtithia; agĩkĩmuuha na mĩario yake mĩnyoroku.
Sche boonde hym with many wordis; and sche drow forth hym with flateryngis of lippis.
22 O rĩmwe akĩmũrũmĩrĩra ta ndegwa ĩgĩthiĩ gũthĩnjwo, kana ta thwariga ĩgĩtoonya kĩana-inĩ kĩa mũtego,
Anoon he as an oxe led to slayn sacrifice sueth hir, and as a ioli lomb and vnkunnynge; and the fool woot not, that he is drawun to bondys,
23 nginya akaaya gũtheecwo ini nĩ mĩguĩ, akahaana ta nyoni ĩguthũkĩte mũtego-inĩ, ĩtekũmenya o na hanini atĩ ũndũ ũcio no ũmĩrute muoyo.
til an arowe perse his mawe. As if a brid hastith to the snare; and woot not, that it is don of the perel of his lijf.
24 Atĩrĩrĩ, ariũ akwa, ta thikĩrĩriai; tegai matũ mũigue ũrĩa ngũmwĩra.
Now therfor, my sone, here thou me; and perseyue the wordis of my mouth.
25 Mũtikanareke ngoro cianyu ĩrũmĩrĩre mĩthiĩre yake, kana mũingĩre njĩra-inĩ ciake.
Lest thi soule be drawun awei in the weies of hir; nether be thou disseyued in the pathis of hir.
26 Nĩ andũ aingĩ arĩkĩtie kũrũnda; arĩa oragĩte nĩ kĩrĩndĩ kĩingĩ mũno.
For sche castide doun many woundid men; and alle strongeste men weren slayn of hir.
27 Nyũmba yake nĩ njĩra njariĩ ya gũthiĩ mbĩrĩra, nayo yerekagĩria andũ nyũmba-inĩ cia gĩkuũ. (Sheol )
The weies of helle is hir hous; and persen in to ynnere thingis of deeth. (Sheol )
