< Thimo 29 >
1 Mũndũ ũrĩa ũikaraga omĩtie ngingo thuutha wa kũrũithio maita maingĩ, akaanangwo o rĩmwe, na aage kĩhonia.
He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck shall suddenly be broken, and that without remedy.
2 Rĩrĩa andũ arĩa athingu matheerema, andũ nĩmakenaga; no rĩrĩa andũ arĩa aaganu maathana, andũ nĩgũcaaya macaayaga.
When the righteous are increased, the people rejoice; but when the wicked beareth rule, the people sigh.
3 Mũndũ ũrĩa wendete ũũgĩ atũũragia ithe na gĩkeno, no mũndũ ũrĩa ũceeraga na maraya nĩgũitanga aitangaga ũtonga wake.
Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father; but he that keepeth company with harlots wasteth his substance.
4 Mũthamaki ũrĩ matuĩro ma kĩhooto aikaragia bũrũri ũrĩ mwĩkindĩru, no ũrĩa ũkorokagĩra mahaki nĩ kwananga awanangaga.
The king by justice establisheth the land; but he that exacteth gifts overthroweth it.
5 Mũndũ ũrĩa wĩyendithagĩrĩria harĩ mũndũ wa itũũra rĩake na maheeni, nĩ wabu aambagĩra magũrũ make.
A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his steps.
6 Mũndũ mwaganu ategagwo nĩ mehia make we mwene, no mũndũ mũthingu ainaga na agakena.
In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare; but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
7 Andũ arĩa athingu nĩmamenyagĩrĩra kĩhooto kĩa arĩa athĩĩni, no arĩa aaganu matirũmbũyagia kĩhooto kĩao.
The righteous taketh knowledge of the cause of the poor; the wicked understandeth not knowledge.
8 Anyũrũrania matũmaga itũũra inene rĩrĩmbũke ta mwaki, no andũ oogĩ nĩkũniina maniinaga marakara.
Scornful men set a city in a blaze; but wise men turn away wrath.
9 Mũndũ mũũgĩ angĩthiĩ igooti-inĩ na mũndũ mũkĩĩgu, mũndũ mũkĩĩgu arĩrĩmbũkaga nĩ marakara na akanyũrũrania, naguo thayũ ũkaaga.
If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he be angry or laugh, there will be no rest.
10 Andũ arĩa maitaga thakame nĩmathũire mũndũ mwĩhokeku, no andũ arĩa arũngĩrĩru macaragia ũrĩa mangĩtiirĩrĩra muoyo wake.
The men of blood hate him that is sincere; and as for the upright, they seek his life.
11 Mũndũ mũkĩĩgu aitũrũraga marakara make mothe, no mũndũ mũũgĩ aikaraga amarigĩrĩirie, akahoorera.
A fool spendeth all his spirit; but a wise man stilleth it within him.
12 Mũndũ ũrĩa wathanaga angĩthikĩrĩria maheeni-rĩ, anene ake othe matuĩkaga andũ aaganu.
If a ruler hearkeneth to falsehood, all his servants are wicked.
13 Mũndũ mũthĩĩni na mũndũ mũhinyanĩrĩria harĩ ũndũ ũmwe ũmahaananĩtie: Jehova nĩwe ũtũmaga maitho mao eerĩ moone.
The poor man and the oppressor meet together; the LORD giveth light to the eyes of them both.
14 Mũthamaki angĩtuĩra athĩĩni ciira na kĩhooto-rĩ, gĩtĩ gĩake kĩa ũnene gĩtũũraga kĩrũmĩte nginya tene.
The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
15 Rũthanju na kũrũithio ciĩkagĩra mũndũ ũũgĩ, no mwana wa kũrekererio aconorithagia nyina.
The rod and reproof give wisdom; but a child left to himself causeth shame to his mother.
16 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa andũ aaganu matheerema, noguo mehia matheeremaga, no andũ arĩa athingu nĩmakerorera igwa rĩao.
When the wicked are increased, transgression increaseth; but the righteous shall gaze upon their fall.
17 Herithagia mũrũguo, na nĩagatũma ũgĩe na thayũ; nĩagatũma ũgĩe na gĩkeno ngoro-inĩ.
Correct thy son, and he will give thee rest; yea, he will give delight unto thy soul.
18 Kũrĩa gũtarĩ na ũguũrio, kĩrĩndĩ gĩticookaga kwĩrigĩrĩria; no gũkena nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũrũmagia watho.
Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint; but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
19 Ndungata ndĩngĩhera nĩ kwarĩrio gũtheri; o na ĩngĩtaũkĩrwo nĩ ũhoro ndĩngĩũrũmbũiya.
A servant will not be corrected by words; for though he understand, there will be no response.
20 Wanona mũndũ ũhiũhaga kwaria? Mũndũ mũkĩĩgu arĩ na kĩĩrĩgĩrĩro kũmũkĩra.
Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope for a fool than for him.
21 Mũndũ angĩnania ndungata yake kuuma wĩthĩ wayo, marigĩrĩrio-inĩ nĩĩkamũrehera kĩeha.
He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become master at the last.
22 Mũndũ wa marakara aarahũraga ngarari, nake mũndũ wa marũrũ agĩĩaga na mehia maingĩ.
An angry man stirreth up strife, and a wrathful man aboundeth in transgression.
23 Mwĩtĩĩo wa mũndũ nĩũmũnyiihagia, no mũndũ ũrĩa wa ngoro ya kwĩnyiihia nĩagatĩĩo.
A man's pride shall bring him low; but he that is of a lowly spirit shall attain to honour.
24 Mũndũ wa kũgĩa thiritũ na mũici nĩ muoyo wake mwene athũire; ehĩtithagio na ndangĩruta ũira.
Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth the adjuration and uttereth nothing.
25 Gwĩtigĩra mũndũ gũtuĩkaga mũtego, no ũrĩa wĩhokaga Jehova aikaraga arĩ mũgitĩre.
The fear of man bringeth a snare; but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be set up on high.
26 Andũ aingĩ nĩmacaragia kũiguuo nĩ mũnene, no mũndũ oonaga kĩhooto kuuma kũrĩ Jehova.
Many seek the ruler's favour; but a man's judgment cometh from the LORD.
27 Andũ arĩa athingu monaga andũ arĩa matarĩ ehokeku ta kĩndũ kĩrĩ magigi; nao andũ arĩa aaganu moonaga andũ arĩa arũngĩrĩru ta kĩndũ kĩrĩ magigi.
An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous; and he that is upright in the way is an abomination to the wicked.
