< Thimo 28 >
1 Andũ arĩa aaganu moraga o na gũtarĩ mũndũ ũramathingata, no arĩa athingu momagĩrĩria ta mũrũũthi.
The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.
2 Bũrũri ũngĩĩhia, nĩũgĩaga na aathani aingĩ, no mũndũ ũrĩ na ũtaũku na akagĩa na ũmenyo nĩatũmaga bũrũri ũkindĩrie.
A land in rebellion has many rulers, but a man of understanding and knowledge maintains order.
3 Mwathani ũrĩa ũhatagĩrĩria andũ arĩa athĩĩni ahaana ta mbura ya rũhuho ĩrĩa ĩtatigagia irio.
A destitute leader who oppresses the poor is like a driving rain that leaves no food.
4 Andũ arĩa matirikaga watho magaathagĩrĩria andũ arĩa aaganu, no arĩa marũmagia watho magianaga nao.
Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law resist them.
5 Andũ arĩa ooru matiiguaga maũndũ ma kĩhooto, no arĩa marongoragia Jehova nĩmataũkagĩrwo nĩ mo biũ.
Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the LORD comprehend fully.
6 Nĩ kaba mũndũ mũthĩĩni ũrĩa ũthiiaga na mĩthiĩre ĩtarĩ ũcuuke, gũkĩra gĩtonga gĩthiiaga na mĩthiĩre mĩogomu.
Better a poor man who walks with integrity than a rich man whose ways are perverse.
7 Mũndũ ũrĩa ũrũmagia watho nĩ mwana ũrĩ na gũkũũrana, no mwana ũrĩa ũthiiaga na thiritũ ya arĩa akoroku aconorithagia ithe.
A discerning son keeps the law, but a companion of gluttons disgraces his father.
8 Mũndũ ũrĩa ũingĩhagia ũtonga wake na ũndũ wa gũkombithia mbeeca na gwĩtia uumithio mũkĩru aũigagĩra mũndũ ũngĩ, ũrĩa ũkaiguĩra athĩĩni tha.
He who increases his wealth by interest and usury lays it up for one who is kind to the poor.
9 Mũndũ ũrĩa ũregaga kũigua watho, o na mahooya make nĩ kĩndũ kĩrĩ magigi.
Whoever turns his ear away from hearing the law, even his prayer is detestable.
10 Mũndũ ũrĩa ũngĩhĩtithia andũ arĩa arũngĩrĩru nĩguo magere njĩra ya ũũru, akaagũa mũtego-inĩ wake we mwene, no ũrĩa ũtarĩ ũcuuke, wega nĩguo ũgaatuĩka igai rĩake.
He who leads the upright along the path of evil will fall into his own pit, but the blameless will inherit what is good.
11 Mũndũ mũtongu no eyone taarĩ mũũgĩ maitho-inĩ make, no mũndũ mũthĩĩni ũrĩa ũũĩ gũkũũrana maũndũ amuonaga o ũrĩa atariĩ.
A rich man is wise in his own eyes, but a poor man with discernment sees through him.
12 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa arĩa athingu maatoorania, nĩkũgĩaga na ndũhiũ nene; no rĩrĩa arĩa aaganu maatũũgĩra, andũ nĩ kwĩhitha mehithaga.
When the righteous triumph, there is great glory, but when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.
13 Mũndũ ũrĩa ũhithaga mehia make ndagaacagĩra, no ũrĩa ũmoimbũraga na agatigana namo nĩaiguagĩrwo tha.
He who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy.
14 Kũrathimwo nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa wĩtigagĩra Jehova hĩndĩ ciothe, no ũrĩa ũmagia ngoro yake nĩkũgũa agũũaga thĩĩna-inĩ.
Blessed is the man who is always reverent, but he who hardens his heart falls into trouble.
15 Mũndũ mwaganu agĩatha andũ matarĩ na ũhoti, nĩ ta mũrũũthi ũkũrarama, kana nduba ĩgũticũka.
Like a roaring lion or a charging bear is a wicked ruler over a helpless people.
16 Mũnene ũtarĩ na ũtaũku nĩahinyagĩrĩria andũ mũno, no mũndũ ũrĩa ũthũire uumithio ũtagĩrĩire nĩagakenera matukũ maingĩ ma muoyo wake.
A leader who lacks judgment is also a great oppressor, but he who hates dishonest profit will prolong his days.
17 Mũndũ mũritũhĩre nĩ thakame ya mũndũ ooragĩte, egũtũũra ehithaga nginya gũkua gwake; mũndũ o na ũrĩkũ ndakanamũteithĩrĩrie.
A man burdened by bloodguilt will flee into the Pit; let no one support him.
18 Mũndũ ũrĩa mĩthiĩre yake ĩtarĩ ũcuuke aikaraga arĩ mũgitĩre, no mũndũ ũrĩa ũthiiaga na njĩra cia waganu akaagũa o rĩmwe, hubu!
He who walks with integrity will be kept safe, but whoever is perverse in his ways will suddenly fall.
19 Mũndũ ũrĩa ũrĩmaga mũgũnda wake arĩĩkoragwo na irio nyingĩ, no ũrĩa ũhanyũkanagia na maũndũ hatarĩ arĩhũũnaga o thĩĩna.
The one who works his land will have plenty of food, but whoever chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.
20 Mũndũ mwĩhokeku arĩrathimagwo mũno, no ũrĩa wĩriragĩria kũhiũha gũtonga ndakaaga kũherithio.
A faithful man will abound with blessings, but one eager to be rich will not go unpunished.
21 Gũtĩĩra mũndũ maũthĩ ti wega: no mũndũ no eke ũũru nĩ ũndũ wa kenyũ ka irio.
To show partiality is not good, yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread.
22 Mũndũ mũkarĩ nĩeriragĩria mũno gũtonga, na ndooĩ atĩ etereirwo nĩ ũthĩĩni.
A stingy man hastens after wealth and does not know that poverty awaits him.
23 Mũndũ ũrĩa ũrũithagia ũngĩ nĩagatuĩka wa kwendwo nĩwe thuutha-inĩ, gũkĩra mũndũ wa rũrĩmĩ rwa kwĩyendithĩrĩria.
He who rebukes a man will later find more favor than one who flatters with his tongue.
24 Mũndũ ũrĩa ũtunyaga ithe kana nyina kĩndũ kĩao, agacooka akoiga atĩrĩ, “Ti ũũru ndeka,” ũcio marĩ rũmwe na ũrĩa wanangaga.
He who robs his father or mother, saying, “It is not wrong,” is a companion to the man who destroys.
25 Mũndũ mũkoroku aarahũraga ngarari, no mũndũ wĩhokete Jehova nĩakagaacĩra.
A greedy man stirs up strife, but he who trusts in the LORD will prosper.
26 Mũndũ ũrĩa wĩĩhokaga we mwene nĩ mũndũ mũkĩĩgu, no ũrĩa ũthiiaga na njĩra cia ũũgĩ aikaraga arĩ mũgitĩre.
He who trusts in himself is a fool, but one who walks in wisdom will be safe.
27 Mũndũ ũrĩa ũheaga athĩĩni ndarĩ kĩndũ akaaga, no mũndũ ũrĩa ũmahingagĩra maitho nĩarĩĩrumagwo kaingĩ.
Whoever gives to the poor will not be in need, but he who hides his eyes will receive many curses.
28 Rĩrĩa andũ arĩa aaganu maatuĩka a gwathana, andũ nĩ kwĩhitha mehithaga; no rĩrĩa arĩa aaganu mathira, arĩa athingu nĩmatheeremaga.
When the wicked come to power, people hide themselves; but when they perish, the righteous flourish.
