< Thimo 23 >
1 Rĩrĩa waikara thĩ kũrĩĩanĩra na mwathi wa bũrũri-rĩ, wĩmenyerere nũũ ũcio mũrĩ nake;
If you will sit down to eat with a ruler carefully you will consider [that] which [is] before you.
2 wĩigĩrĩre kahiũ mũmero ũngĩkorwo ũrĩ mũndũ mũkoroku.
And you will put a knife in throat your if [are] a master of appetite you.
3 Ndũkerirĩrie irio ciake irĩ mũrĩo, nĩgũkorwo nĩ irio cia gũkũheenereria.
May not (you crave *Q(K)*) for dainties his and it [is] food of lies.
4 Tiga kwĩnogia na kwenda gwĩtongia; gĩa na ũũgĩ wa kũhota kwĩrigĩrĩria.
May not you labor to gain riches from understanding your cease.
5 No wone ũtonga, ũcooke ũbuĩrie, nĩgũkorwo ti-itherũ ũtonga nĩwĩmeragia mathagu, na ũkombũka ta nderi yerekeire matu-inĩ.
(¿ Do you cause to fly *Q(K)*) eyes your on it and there not [is] it for certainly it makes for itself wings like an eagle (it flies away *Q(K)*) the heavens.
6 Tiga kũrĩa irio cia mũndũ mũkarĩ, ndũkerirĩrie irio ciake cia mũrĩo;
May not you eat [the] food of a [person] evil of eye and may not (you crave *Q(K)*) for dainties his.
7 tondũ nĩ mũndũ wa arĩa meciiragia o ũhoro wa thogora hĩndĩ ciothe. Akwĩraga atĩrĩ, “Rĩa na ũnyue,” no ngoro yake ndĩrĩ hamwe nawe.
For - as he calculates in self his [is] so he eat and drink he says to you and heart his not [is] with you.
8 Nĩũgatahĩka kĩrĩa kĩnini ũgaakorwo ũrĩĩte, nacio ngaatho ciaku nĩikoorĩra thĩ.
Morsel your [which] you have eaten you will vomit up it and you will spoil words your pleasant.
9 Ndũkaarie na mũndũ mũkĩĩgu, nĩgũkorwo we no anyararire ũũgĩ wa ciugo ciaku.
In [the] ears of a fool may not you speak for he will despise [the] insight of words your.
10 Ndũkaneherie ihiga rĩa tene rĩa mũhaka, kana ũhatĩke mĩhaka ya mĩgũnda ya ciana cia ngoriai,
May not you displace a boundary of antiquity and in [the] fields of fatherless ones may not you go.
11 tondũ Mũgitĩri wacio nĩ arĩ na hinya; nĩakamaciirĩrĩra agũũkĩrĩre.
For redeemer their [is] strong he he will conduct case their with you.
12 Ringĩrĩria ngoro yaku gũthikĩrĩria ũrutani, na matũ maku kũigua ciugo cia ũmenyo.
Bring! to discipline heart your and ears your to words of knowledge.
13 Ndũkanaage kũherithia mwana; ũngĩmũhũũra na rũthanju-rĩ, ndangĩkua.
May not you withhold from a youth discipline for you will strike him with the rod not he will die.
14 Mũhũũrage na rũthanju nĩguo ũhonokie muoyo wake kuuma kũrĩ gĩkuũ. (Sheol )
You with the rod you will strike him and life his from Sheol you will deliver. (Sheol )
15 Mũrũ wakwa, ngoro yaku ĩngĩgĩa na ũũgĩ-rĩ, hĩndĩ ĩyo ngoro yakwa no ĩkene;
O son my if it is wise heart your it will rejoice heart my also I.
16 ngoro yakwa nĩĩgacanjamũka rĩrĩa mĩromo yaku ĩkaaria maũndũ marĩa magĩrĩire.
So they may rejoice kidneys my when speak lips your uprightness.
17 Ndũkanareke ngoro yaku ĩiguĩre ehia ũiru, no hĩndĩ ciothe gĩĩaga na kĩyo gĩa gwĩtigĩra Jehova.
May not it be jealous heart of your sinners that except in [the] fear of Yahweh all the day.
18 Tondũ ti-itherũ wee ũrĩ na kĩĩrĩgĩrĩro thuutha-inĩ, na kĩĩrĩgĩrĩro gĩaku gĩtigaathira.
That except there [is] a future and hope your not it will be cut off.
19 Mũrũ wakwa, thikĩrĩria nĩgeetha ũgĩe na ũũgĩ, na ũige ngoro yaku njĩra-inĩ ĩrĩa yagĩrĩire.
Listen O you son my and be wise and guide in the way heart your.
20 Ndũkegwatanie na andũ arĩa manyuuaga njoohi, kana arĩa makorokagĩra nyama,
May not you be among drunkards of wine among gluttons of meat themselves.
21 nĩgũkorwo arĩĩu na andũ arĩa akoroku matuĩkaga athĩĩni, naguo ũgũũta ũtũmaga mũndũ ehumbe matangari.
For a drunkard and a glutton he will become impoverished and rags it will clothe [them] drowsiness.
22 Thikagĩrĩria thoguo, we ũrĩa wagũciarire, na ndũkanyarare maitũguo, o na aakorwo nĩ mũkũrũ.
Listen to father your who he begot you and may not you despise if she is old mother your.
23 Wĩgũrĩre ũhoro ũrĩa wa ma na ndũkanawendie; wĩgĩĩre na ũũgĩ, na ũtaaro, na ũtaũku.
Truth buy and may not you sell [it] wisdom and discipline and understanding.
24 Ithe wa mwana mũthingu arĩ gĩkeno kĩnene mũno; nake ũrĩa ũrĩ na mwana mũũgĩ nĩakenagio nĩwe.
(Certainly he rejoices *Q(k)*) [the] father of a righteous [son] (and [one who] begets *Q(K)*) a wise [son] (he rejoices *Q(K)*) in him.
25 Thoguo na maitũguo marocanjamũka nĩ ũndũ waku; mũtumia ũrĩa wagũciarire arokena!
May he rejoice father your and mother your and may she rejoice [the] [one who] bore you.
26 Mũrũ wakwa, heaga ngoro yaku, na ũreke maitho maku marũmagĩrĩre njĩra ciakwa,
Give! O son my heart your to me and eyes your ways my (let them observe. *Q(K)*)
27 nĩgũkorwo mũmaraya nĩ irima iriku, nake mũtumia mũtharia nĩ gĩthima gĩkunderu.
For [is] a pit deep a prostitute and [is] a well narrow a foreign [woman].
28 Oohagĩria andũ njĩra-inĩ o ta njangiri, na nĩatũmaga kuongerereke andũ matarĩ ehokeku kĩrĩndĩ-inĩ.
Also she like a robber she lies in wait and treacherous [people] among humankind she increases.
29 Nũũ ũrĩ na haaro? Nũũ ũrĩ na kĩeha? Nũũ ũrĩ hatĩka-inĩ? Nũũ ũrĩ na mateta? Nũũ ũgurarĩtio hatarĩ gĩtũmi? Nũũ ũtunĩhĩtie maitho?
[belongs] to Whom? woe [belongs] to whom? woe! [belong] to whom? (contentions *Q(K)*) [belongs] to whom? complaint [belong] to whom? wounds without cause [belongs] to whom? dullness of eyes.
30 Nĩ arĩa matindaga marũmanĩrĩire na ndibei, arĩa mathiiaga magĩcamaga mbakũri cia ndibei ĩrĩa ndukanie.
To [those who] delay over the wine to [those who] go to examine mixed wine.
31 Tiga kwĩrorera ndibei rĩrĩa ĩtunĩhĩte, rĩrĩa ĩgũkenga ĩrĩ gĩkombe-inĩ, rĩrĩa ĩkũmerũka wega!
May not you see wine for it will be red if it will give (in the cup *Q(K)*) eye its it will go with smoothness.
32 Mũthia-inĩ ĩrũmanaga ta nyoka, ĩgagũtheeca na thumu ta nduĩra.
End its like a snake it will bite and like a viper it will sting.
33 Maitho maku makoonaga maũndũ mageni, na meciiria maku meciirie maũndũ ma waganu.
Eyes your they will see strange [things] and heart your it will speak perverse things.
34 Ũgaatuĩka ta mũndũ ũkomete iria-inĩ rĩrĩa inene gatagatĩ, o ta mũndũ ũkomete mũthia wa gĩtugĩ kĩa macua.
And you will be like [one who] lies down in [the] heart of [the] sea and like [one who] lies down at [the] top of a mast.
35 Nĩũkoiga atĩrĩ, “Ngũthĩtwo, no ndinatiihio! Nĩmahũũra, no ndinaigua ũndũ! Ngokĩra-rĩ, nĩguo ngacarie ĩngĩ ya kũnyua?”
They struck me not I am sick they beat me not I know when? will I awake I will repeat I will seek it again.
