< Thimo 11 >
1 Ratiri itarĩ cia ma nĩ kĩndũ kĩrĩ magigi harĩ Jehova, no nĩakenagĩra mahiga ma gũthima marĩa maigananu.
False balances are an abomination before the Lord: but a just weight is acceptable to him.
2 Rĩrĩa mwĩtĩĩo woka, ũrũmagĩrĩrwo nĩ thoni, no kwĩnyiihia kũrehaga ũũgĩ.
Wherever pride enters, there will be also disgrace: but the mouth of the lowly meditates wisdom.
3 Ũrũngĩrĩru wa arĩa marũgamĩte wega nĩũmonagĩrĩria njĩra, no andũ arĩa matarĩ ehokeku, nĩmanangagwo nĩ ũhinga wao.
When a just man dies he leaves regret: but the destruction of the ungodly is speedy, and causes joy.
4 Ũtonga ndũrĩ kĩguni mũthenya wa mangʼũrĩ, no ũthingu nĩũkũũraga mũndũ kuuma kũrĩ gĩkuũ.
[Possessions will not profit in a day of wrath, but righteousness will deliver from death. ]
5 Ũthingu wa andũ arĩa matarĩ na ũcuuke ũmathondekagĩra njĩra nũngarũ, no andũ arĩa aaganu magũithagio nĩ waganu wao ene.
Righteousness traces out blameless paths: but ungodliness encounters unjust dealing.
6 Ũthingu wa andũ arĩa arũngĩrĩru nĩũmahonokagia, no andũ arĩa matarĩ ehokeku nĩmategagwo nĩ merirĩria mao mooru.
The righteousness of upright men delivers them: but transgressors are caught in their own destruction.
7 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa mũndũ mwaganu aakua, kĩĩrĩgĩrĩro gĩake nĩgũthira gĩthiraga; kĩrĩa gĩothe eerĩgĩrĩire kuuma kũrĩ ũhoti wake gĩtuĩkaga o tũhũ.
At the death of a just man his hope does not perish: but the boast of the ungodly perishes.
8 Mũndũ ũrĩa mũthingu nĩahonokagio kuuma thĩĩna-inĩ, naguo ũgaacookerera ũrĩa mwaganu.
A righteous man escapes from a snare, and the ungodly man is delivered up in his place.
9 Mũndũ ũtetigĩrĩte Ngai nĩanangaga mũndũ wa itũũra na kanua gake, no arĩa athingu nĩmetharaga nĩ ũndũ wa ũmenyo.
In the mouth of ungodly men is a snare to citizens: but the understanding of righteous men is prosperous.
10 Rĩrĩa andũ arĩa athingu magaacĩra, itũũra nĩgũkena rĩkenaga; rĩrĩa andũ arĩa aaganu maathira, nĩkũrũhio kũrũũhagio.
In the prosperity of righteous men a city prospers: but by the mouth of ungodly men it is overthrown.
11 Itũũra inene nĩrĩtũũgagĩrio nĩ ũndũ wa kĩrathimo kĩa andũ arĩa arũngĩrĩru, no nĩrĩanangagwo nĩ kanua ka andũ arĩa aaganu.
[At the blessing of the upright a city shall be exalted. ]
12 Mũndũ ũtarĩ ũũgĩ wa gũkũũrana maũndũ anyũrũragia mũndũ wa itũũra rĩake, no mũndũ ũrĩ na ũtaũku nĩ gwĩkirĩra ekiragĩra.
A man void of understanding sneers at [his fellow] citizens: but a sensible man is quiet.
13 Mũndũ wa mũhuhu nĩoimagia ndeto cia ndundu nja, no mũndũ mwĩhokeku nĩaigaga hitho.
A double-tongued man discloses the [secret] counsels of an assembly: but he that is faithful in spirit conceals matters.
14 Bũrũri ũngĩaga ũtongoria mwega nĩkũgũa ũgũũaga, no ataarani aingĩ matũmaga kũgĩe na ũhootani kũna.
They that have no guidance fall like leaves: but in much counsel there is safety.
15 Mũndũ ũrĩa ũrũgamagĩrĩra thiirĩ wa mũndũ ũngĩ ti-itherũ nĩagathĩĩnĩka, no mũndũ ũrĩa wothe wagaga kũrũgamĩrĩra mũndũ thiirĩ atũũraga na thayũ.
A bad man does harm wherever he meets a just man: and he hates the sound of safety.
16 Mũndũ-wa-nja mũtaana nĩegĩagĩra gĩtĩĩo, no arũme arĩa matarĩ tha no ũtonga magĩaga naguo.
A gracious wife brings glory to her husband: but a woman hating righteousness is a theme of dishonour. The slothful come to lack: but the diligent support themselves with wealth.
17 Mũndũ mũtaana egunaga we mwene, no mũndũ ũtarĩ tha erehagĩra thĩĩna we mwene.
A merciful man does good to his own soul: but the merciless destroys his own body.
18 Mũndũ mwaganu athũkũmaga mũcaara wa kũmũheenia, no ũrĩa ũhaandaga ũthingu nĩagethaga irĩhi rĩa ma.
An ungodly man performs unrighteous works: but the seed of the righteous is a reward of truth.
19 Mũndũ ũrĩa mũthingu kũna nĩagatũũra muoyo, no mũndũ ũrĩa ũrũmagĩrĩra waganu nĩ gũkua agaakua.
A righteous son is born for life: but the persecution of the ungodly [ends] in death.
20 Andũ arĩa marĩ ngoro ya rũtũrĩko nĩ kĩndũ kĩrĩ magigi harĩ Jehova, no nĩakenagio nĩ andũ arĩa njĩra ciao itarĩ ũcuuke.
Perverse ways are an abomination to the Lord: but all they that are blameless in their ways are acceptable to him.
21 Ti-itherũ mũndũ mwaganu ndakaaga kũherithio, no andũ arĩa athingu nĩmakahonokio.
He that unjustly strikes hands shall not be unpunished: but he that sows righteousness he shall receive a faithful reward.
22 Mũndũ-wa-nja mũthaka ũtarĩ ũgereri ahaana ta gĩcũhĩ gĩa thahabu kĩrĩ iniũrũ-inĩ rĩa ngũrwe.
As an ornament in a swine's snout, so is beauty to an ill-minded women.
23 Wendi wa mũndũ mũthingu ũrĩkagĩrĩria o wega-inĩ, no kĩĩrĩgĩrĩro kĩa mũndũ ũrĩa mwaganu kĩrĩĩkagĩrĩria mangʼũrĩ-inĩ.
All the desire of the righteous is good: but the hope of the ungodly shall perish.
24 Kũrĩ mũndũ ũheanaga na ũtaana, nake agakĩrĩrĩria kũgĩa na indo; ũngĩ atuĩkaga mũkarĩ mũno, no agathiĩ o na mbere gũthĩĩna.
There are [some] who scatter their own, and make it more: and there are [some] also who gather, [yet] have less.
25 Mũndũ mũtaana nĩakagaacĩra; ũrĩa ũnyootoraga arĩa angĩ o nake mwene nĩakanyootorwo.
Every sincere soul is blessed: but a passionate man is not graceful.
26 Mũndũ ũrĩa ũregaga kwenderia andũ mbembe iria aigĩte nĩarumagwo nĩ andũ, no mũndũ ũrĩa ũciendagia, kĩrathimo kĩrĩkoragwo mũtwe-inĩ wake.
May he that hoards corn leave it to the nation: but blessing be on the head of him that gives [it].
27 Mũndũ ũrĩa ũcaragia maũndũ mega arĩonaga o wega, no ũrĩa ũcaragia maũndũ mooru no mo marĩmũkoraga.
He that devises good [counsels] seeks good favour: but [as for] him that seeks after evil, [evil] shall overtake him.
28 Mũndũ ũrĩa wothe wĩhokaga ũtonga wake nĩkũgũa akaagũa, no arĩa athingu makaagaacĩra ta ithangũ rĩrĩa iruru.
He that trusts in wealth shall fall; but he that helps righteous men shall rise.
29 Mũndũ ũrĩa ũnyamaragia mũciĩ wake akaagaya o rũhuho, nake mũndũ mũkĩĩgu agaatuĩka ndungata ya ũrĩa mũũgĩ.
He that deals not graciously with his own house shall inherit the wind; and the fool shall be servant to the wise man.
30 Maciaro ma andũ arĩa athingu nĩ mũtĩ wa muoyo, nake mũndũ ũrĩa mũũgĩ nĩaguucagĩrĩria ngoro cia andũ.
Out of the fruit of righteousness grows a tree of life; but the souls of transgressors are cut off before their time.
31 Angĩkorwo andũ arĩa athingu nĩmarĩhagwo marĩ gũkũ thĩ-rĩ, githĩ arĩa matetigĩrĩte Ngai na arĩa ehia matikarĩhwo makĩria!
If the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
