< Mathayo 8 >

1 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa aikũrũkire kuuma kĩrĩma-inĩ, ikundi nene cia andũ ikĩmuuma thuutha.
When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds followed him.
2 Na mũndũ warĩ na mangũ agĩthiĩ harĩ we, agĩturia maru mbere yake, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Mwathani, ũngĩenda-rĩ, no ũũtherie.”
And behold, a leper came and bowed down before him, saying, “Lord, if yoʋ are willing, yoʋ can make me clean.”
3 Nake Jesũ agĩtambũrũkia guoko gwake, akĩhutia mũndũ ũcio, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Nĩngwenda. Therio!” O hĩndĩ ĩyo akĩhonio mangũ make.
So Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be made clean.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4 Jesũ agĩcooka akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Menya ndũkeere mũndũ o na ũrĩkũ. No thiĩ ũkeyonanie kũrĩ mũthĩnjĩri-Ngai, na ũrute kĩheo kĩrĩa Musa aathanire gĩtuĩke ũira kũrĩ o.”
Then Jesus said to him, “Be sure not to tell anyone about this, but go show yoʋrself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
5 Na Jesũ aarĩkia gũtoonya Kaperinaumu, mũnene-wa-thigari-igana agĩũka kũrĩ we, akĩmũhooya ũteithio.
When Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him and pleaded with him,
saying, “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.”
7 Nake Jesũ akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Nĩngũthiĩ kũmĩhonia.”
Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”
8 No mũnene ũcio wa thigari igana akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Mwathani, niĩ ndiagĩrĩire atĩ wee ũũke gwakwa. No uga o kiugo, na ndungata yakwa nĩĩkũhona.
But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have yoʋ enter under my roof, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
9 Nĩgũkorwo niĩ mwene ndĩ mũndũ wathagwo, na ndĩ na thigari njathaga. Ndeera ũmwe ‘Thiĩ,’ nĩathiiaga, na ndeera ũngĩ atĩrĩ, ‘Ũka,’ nĩokaga. Na ningĩ ndeera ndungata yakwa atĩrĩ, ‘Ĩka ũna,’ nĩĩkaga.”
For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those who were following him, “Truly I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith.
I tell you that many will come from east and west, and recline with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob at the banquet table in the kingdom of heaven,
12 No arĩa marĩ a ũthamaki ũcio nĩmagaikio nja, kũu nduma-inĩ, kũrĩa gũgaakorwo kĩrĩro na kũhagarania magego.”
but the sons of the kingdom will be cast into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
13 Nake Jesũ agĩcooka akĩĩra mũnene ũcio wa thigari igana atĩrĩ, “Thiĩ! Nĩũgwĩkĩrwo o ũguo wĩtĩkĩtie.” Nayo ndungata yake ĩkĩhonio o ithaa rĩu.
Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go; it will be done for you just as yoʋ have believed.” And his servant was healed in that hour.
When Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever.
15 Akĩmũhutia guoko, nake agĩtiga kũhiũha mwĩrĩ, akĩarahũka, akĩambĩrĩria kũmũtungatĩra.
So he touched her hand, and the fever left her. Then she rose and began to serve him.
16 Hwaĩ-inĩ ũcio, andũ aingĩ arĩa maarĩ na ndaimono makĩrehwo kũrĩ we, nake akĩingata maroho macio na kuuga o kiugo, na akĩhonia arĩa othe maarĩ arũaru.
When evening came, many who were possessed by demons were brought to him, and he cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick.
17 Ũhoro ũyũ warĩ wa kũhingia ũrĩa kwaarĩtio na kanua ka mũnabii Isaia, rĩrĩa oigire atĩrĩ: “We mwene nĩoire wonje witũ, na akĩeheria mĩrimũ iitũ.”
This was to fulfill what had been spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “He took our infirmities and bore our diseases.”
18 Rĩrĩa Jesũ oonire gĩkundi kĩa andũ arĩa maamũthiũrũrũkĩirie, agĩathana maringe mũrĩmo ũrĩa ũngĩ wa iria.
When Jesus saw the large crowds around him, he gave orders to depart to the other side of the sea.
19 Hĩndĩ ĩyo mũrutani ũmwe wa watho agĩũka harĩ we, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Mũrutani, nĩndĩkũrũmagĩrĩra kũrĩa guothe ũrĩthiiaga.”
Then a scribe came up and said to him, “Teacher, I will follow yoʋ wherever yoʋ go.”
20 Nake Jesũ akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Mbwe nĩ irĩ marima, na nyoni cia rĩera-inĩ nĩ irĩ itara, no Mũrũ wa Mũndũ ndarĩ handũ angĩigĩrĩra mũtwe wake.”
Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”
21 Nake mũrutwo ũngĩ akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Mwathani, reke nyambe thiĩ ngathike baba.”
Then another of his disciples said to him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”
But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”
23 Hĩndĩ ĩyo agĩtoonya gatarũ, nao arutwo ake makĩmũrũmĩrĩra.
Then he got into the boat, and his disciples followed him.
24 Na rĩrĩ, gũkĩgĩa kĩhuhũkanio kĩnene gĩteerĩgĩrĩirwo kũu iria-inĩ, gĩgĩtũma gatarũ kende kũhubwo nĩ makũmbĩ ma maaĩ. No Jesũ aarĩ toro.
And behold, a great storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves. But Jesus was asleep.
25 Nao arutwo magĩthiĩ, makĩmũũkĩria, makĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Mwathani, tũhonokie! Nĩtũkũũrĩra maaĩ-inĩ!”
So the disciples came to him and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”
26 Nake agĩcookia atĩrĩ, “Inyuĩ mũrĩ a wĩtĩkio mũnini, nĩ kĩĩ gĩgũtũma mwĩtigĩre ũguo?” Thuutha ũcio agĩũkĩra, agĩkũũma rũhuho na makũmbĩ macio, nakuo gũkĩhoorera biũ.
But he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
And the men were amazed, saying, “What kind of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?”
28 Rĩrĩa aakinyire rũgongo rwa bũrũri wa Agadari-rĩ, agĩtũngwo nĩ andũ eerĩ maarĩ na ndaimono, moimĩte mbĩrĩra-inĩ. Maarĩ na ũũru mũingĩ mũno, atĩ gũtirĩ mũndũ ũngĩagerire njĩra ĩyo.
When Jesus came to the other side of the sea, to the region of the Gergesenes, he was met by two demon-possessed men who had come out of the tombs. They were so fierce that no one could pass by that way.
And behold, they cried out, “What do yoʋ have to do with us, Jesus, Son of God? Have yoʋ come here to torment us before the appointed time?”
30 Nĩ haarĩ na rũũru rũnene rwa ngũrwe rwarĩithagio handũ hataarĩ haraaya na hau maarĩ.
Now at a distance from them there was a herd of many pigs feeding.
31 Nacio ndaimono igĩthaitha Jesũ, ikĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Akorwo nĩũgũtũingata-rĩ, tũtũme kũrĩ rũũru rũũrĩa rwa ngũrwe.”
So the demons begged Jesus, “If yoʋ cast us out, let us go into the herd of pigs.”
32 Nake agĩciĩra atĩrĩ, “Thiĩi!” Nĩ ũndũ ũcio ikiuma, igĩtoonya ngũrwe, naruo rũũru ruothe rũgĩikũrũka kĩharũrũka-inĩ na ihenya, rũkĩgũa iria thĩinĩ, rũgĩkuĩra maaĩ-inĩ.
He said to them, “Go.” So they came out and went into the herd of pigs, and behold, the whole herd of pigs rushed down the steep bank into the sea and died in the water.
33 Arĩa maarĩithagia ngũrwe icio makĩũra, magĩthiĩ itũũra-inĩ, makĩheana maũndũ macio mothe o na ũrĩa gwekĩkĩte kũrĩ andũ arĩa maarĩ na ndaimono.
Those who had been feeding the pigs then ran off, went into the city, and reported everything, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men.
34 Hĩndĩ ĩyo itũũra rĩothe rĩkiumagara rĩgatũnge Jesũ. Na hĩndĩ ĩrĩa maamuonire, makĩmũthaitha oime rũgongo rwao.
And behold, the whole city went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they begged him to depart from their region.
