< Mathayo 6 >

1 “Mwĩmenyererei mũtigekage ciĩko cianyu cia ũthingu mbere ya andũ nĩguo mamuone. Mũngĩĩka ũguo-rĩ, mũtirĩ kĩheo mũkaaheo nĩ Ithe wanyu ũrĩa ũrĩ igũrũ.
SEE that in your almsgiving you do it not before men, so as that you may be observed by them; otherwise no reward is for you with your Father who is in heaven.
When, therefore, thou art doing alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as do the assumers of faces in the assemblies and streets, so that they may be praised from men; and, Amen I say to you, they receive their reward.
3 No hĩndĩ ĩrĩa ũkũheana kĩndũ kũrĩ arĩa abatari-rĩ, ndũkareke guoko gwaku kwa ũmotho kũmenye ũrĩa guoko gwaku kwa ũrĩo kũreeka,
But thou, when thou art doing thy alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth,
4 nĩgeetha ũheani ũcio waku ũtuĩke wa hitho-inĩ. Nake Ithe wanyu, ũrĩa wonaga maũndũ marĩa mekagĩrwo hitho-inĩ, nĩakamũhe kĩheo.
that thine alms may be in secret; and thy Father, who seeth in secret, shall recompense thee in openness.
And when thou prayest, be not as the face-takers, who love to stand in the assemblies and at the corners of the streets to pray, that they may be seen of men; and truly I say to you that they receive their reward.
6 No hĩndĩ ĩrĩa ũkũhooya, toonya nyũmba yaku, ũhinge mũrango na ũhooye Thoguo ũrĩa ũtoonekaga. Nake Thoguo ũrĩa wonaga maũndũ marĩa mekagĩrwo hitho-inĩ, nĩagakũhe mũcaara waku.
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy secret chamber, and shut thy door, and pray to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father, who seeth in secret, shall reward thee in openness.
7 Na ningĩ hĩndĩ ĩrĩa mũkũhooya-rĩ, tigagai kũhũhũtĩka ta andũ arĩa matetĩkĩtie Ngai, nĩgũkorwo meciiragia nĩ mekũiguuo nĩ ũndũ wa kũraihia mahooya.
And when thou art praying, be not wordy, like the profane; for they think that in much speaking they are heard.
8 Mũtigatuĩke tao, nĩgũkorwo Ithe wanyu nĩoĩ kĩrĩa kĩmũbatairie o na mũtanamũhooya.
Be you not like them, for your Father knoweth what is needful for you before that you ask him.
9 “Nĩ ũndũ ũcio mwagĩrĩirwo nĩkũhooyaga atĩrĩ: “‘Ithe witũ ũrĩ igũrũ, rĩĩtwa rĩaku nĩrĩamũrwo,
Thus pray: Our Father who art in the heavens! be sanctified thy Name.
10 ũthamaki waku nĩũũke, ũrĩa wendete Wee nĩwĩkagwo gũkũ thĩ ta ũrĩa wĩkagwo kũu igũrũ.
Come thy kingdom. Be done thy will, as in heaven, also in earth.
11 Tũhe ũmũthĩ irio ciitũ cia gũtũigana.
Give to us the bread of our need to-day;
12 Na ũtũrekere mahĩtia maitũ, ta ũrĩa o na ithuĩ tũrekagĩra arĩa matũhĩtagĩria.
and forgive us our debts, as also we forgive our debtors;
13 Na ndũgatũtware magerio-inĩ, no ũtũhonokagie kuuma kũrĩ ũrĩa mũũru.’
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory to the age of ages.
14 Nĩgũkorwo mũngĩrekera andũ hĩndĩ ĩrĩa mamũhĩtĩria, o nake Ithe wanyu ũrĩa ũrĩ igũrũ nĩarĩmũrekagĩra.
For if you forgive men their trespasses, your Father who is in heaven will forgive you also.
15 No mũngĩaga kũrekera andũ mehia mao-rĩ, o nake Ithe wanyu ndarĩmũrekagĩra mehia manyu.
But if you will not forgive men, your Father also forgiveth not your trespasses unto you.
WHEN, too, you fast, be not morosely sad as the assumers of faces, for they defile their countenances so as that they may appear unto men to fast: and, Amen I say unto you, they receive their reward.
17 No rĩrĩa wĩhingĩte kũrĩa, wĩhakage maguta mũtwe na wĩthambage ũthiũ,
But thou, when thou art fasting, wash thy face and anoint thine head,
18 nĩguo andũ matikamenye atĩ nĩwĩhingĩte kũrĩa, tiga o Thoguo ũrĩa ũtoonekaga amenye; nake Thoguo ũrĩa wonaga maũndũ marĩa mekagĩrwo hitho-inĩ, nĩagakũhe mũcaara.
that it may not appear to men that thou art fasting, but to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father who seeth in secret, he shall reward thee.
19 “Tigagai kwĩigĩra mĩthiithũ gũkũ thĩ, kũrĩa indo irĩĩagwo nĩ memenyi na ikaroota, na kũrĩa aici mabunjaga makaiya.
Lay not up for yourselves treasures in the earth, a place where moth and rust corrupt, and where thieves dig through and steal:
20 No mwĩigagĩrei mĩthiithũ igũrũ, kũrĩa ĩtangĩrĩĩo nĩ memenyi kana ĩroote, na kũrĩa aici matangĩbunja maiye.
but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where no moth and no rust corrupt, and where thieves do not dig through and steal.
21 Nĩgũkorwo kũrĩa mĩthiithũ yanyu ĩrĩ, nokuo ngoro cianyu o nacio irĩĩkoragwo irĩ.
For where your treasure is, there also your hearts are.
22 “Riitho nĩrĩo tawa wa mwĩrĩ. Maitho maku mangĩkorwo marĩ mega, mwĩrĩ waku wothe nĩũrĩiyũragwo nĩ ũtheri.
The lamp of the body is the eye: if thine eye therefore be perfect, thy whole body will be illuminated;
23 No rĩrĩ, maitho maku mangĩkorwo nĩ mathũku, mwĩrĩ waku wothe ũrĩiyũragwo nĩ nduma. Naguo ũtheri ũrĩa ũrĩ thĩinĩ waku ũngĩkorwo nĩ nduma-rĩ, nduma ĩyo kaĩ nĩ nene-ĩ!
but if thine eye be evil, thy whole body will be dark. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, what will thy darkness be?
24 “Gũtirĩ mũndũ ũngĩhota gũtungatĩra aathani eerĩ. Nĩ ũndũ no athũũrire ũmwe, na ende ũcio ũngĩ; kana eheane harĩ ũmwe, na anyarare ũcio ũngĩ. Mũtingĩtungatĩra Ngai na mũtungatĩre mbeeca.
No man can serve two lords; for the one he will hate, and the other he will love, or the one he will honour, and the other he will neglect: you cannot serve Aloha and riches.
25 “Nĩ ũndũ ũcio ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, tigagai gũtangĩkĩra mĩoyo yanyu, nĩ ũndũ wa kĩrĩa mũrĩrĩĩaga kana kĩrĩa mũrĩnyuuaga; kana kĩrĩa mũrĩĩhumbaga mĩĩrĩ yanyu. Githĩ muoyo ndũrĩ bata gũkĩra irio, naguo mwĩrĩ ũkagĩa bata gũkĩra nguo?
WHEREFORE I say unto you, Let not your souls be anxious what you shall eat and what you shall drink, and for your bodies what you shall wear. Is not the life more excellent than food, and the body than raiment?
26 Ta rorai nyoni cia rĩera-inĩ; itihaandaga, kana ikagetha, kana ikaiga magetha ikũmbĩ, no Ithe wanyu ũrĩa ũrĩ Igũrũ nĩaciheaga irio. Githĩ inyuĩ mũtikĩrĩ a bata mũno gũkĩra icio?
Behold the fowls of the heaven; they sow not, neither do they reap, nor collect into granaries; yet your Father who is in heaven nourisheth them: are you not far more considerable than they?
27 Nũũ wanyu ũngĩhota kuongerera muoyo wake ithaa o na rĩmwe nĩ ũndũ wa gwĩtanga?
But who among you by being anxious can add to his stature one cubit?
and concerning raiment why are you anxious? Look upon the lilies of the wilderness how they increase; they toil not, neither do they spin.
29 no ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, o na Solomoni arĩ na riiri wake wothe ndagemete ta kĩmwe gĩacio.
Yet I say to you, Not even Shelemun in all his glory was covered like one from among these.
30 Angĩkorwo ũguo nĩguo Ngai ahumbaga nyeki ya gĩthaka ĩrĩa ĩrĩ ho ũmũthĩ na rũciũ ĩgaikio mwaki-inĩ-rĩ, githĩ inyuĩ ndarĩkĩmũhumbaga wega makĩria, inyuĩ mwĩtĩkĩtie o hanini?
But if the herb of the field, which to-day exists, and tomorrow falleth into the oven, Aloha thus clotheth, how much more you, little of faith?
31 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio-rĩ, tigagai gwĩtanga, mũkĩũria atĩrĩ: ‘Tũkũrĩa kĩĩ?’ kana ‘Tũkũnyua kĩĩ?’ kana ‘Tũkwĩhumba kĩĩ?’
Be not anxious, therefore, nor say, What shall we eat, or, What shall we drink, or, How shall we be covered?
32 Nĩgũkorwo maũndũ maya mothe nĩmo macaragio nĩ andũ arĩa matetĩkĩtie Ngai. No Ithe wanyu wa igũrũ nĩoĩ atĩ nĩmũbataragio nĩmo.
For after all these things do the people of the world inquire: but your Father who is in heaven knoweth that also by you are required these all.
33 No ambai mũcarie ũthamaki wake na ũthingu wake, na maũndũ maya mangĩ mothe o namo nĩarĩmũheaga.
But seek first the kingdom of Aloha and his righteousness, and all these shall be added unto you.
Be not therefore anxious for to-morrow; the morrow shall care for its own: the evil of to-day is enough for it.
