< Mathayo 22 >
1 Nake Jesũ akĩmaarĩria rĩngĩ na ngerekano, akĩmeera atĩrĩ,
And Jesus answering, spoke to them again in parables, saying:
2 “Ũthamaki wa igũrũ ũhaanaine na mũthamaki warugire iruga nĩ ũndũ wa ũhiki wa mũriũ.
The kingdom of heaven is like a king that made a marriage feast for his son;
3 Agĩcooka agĩtũma ndungata ciake kũrĩ andũ arĩa meetĩtwo iruga-inĩ, ikameere moke, nao makĩrega gũũka.
and sent his servants to call those who had been invited to the marriage feast; and they refused to come.
4 “Ningĩ agĩtũma ndungata ingĩ agĩciĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Ĩrai acio metĩtwo atĩ nĩndĩkĩtie kũhaarĩria iruga: Ndegwa ciakwa na ngʼombe iria noru nĩirĩkĩtie gũthĩnjwo na maũndũ mothe nĩmahaarĩrie. Ũkai iruga-inĩ rĩa ũhiki.’
Again, he sent other servants, saying, Tell those who have been invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come to the marriage feast.
5 “No andũ acio matiarũmbũirie ũhoro ũcio magĩĩthiĩra, ũmwe agĩthiĩ mũgũnda wake, na ũrĩa ũngĩ agĩthiĩ wonjoria-inĩ wake.
But they were careless, and went away, one to his farm, another to his merchandise.
6 Acio angĩ magĩtharĩkĩra ndungata ciake, magĩcinyariira na magĩciũraga.
And the rest laid hold of his servants, and abused them, and killed them.
7 Mũthamaki ũcio nĩarakarire mũno, agĩtũma mbũtũ yake ĩkaniine oragani acio, na ĩgĩcina itũũra rĩao inene.
And when that king heard of it, he was angry, and sent his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.
8 “Hĩndĩ ĩyo akĩĩra ndungata ciake atĩrĩ, ‘Iruga rĩa ũhiki nĩrĩhaarĩrie no rĩrĩ, arĩa ndĩretire-rĩ, matiraagĩrĩirwo nĩ gũũka.
Then he said to his servants: The marriage feast is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy.
9 Thiĩi magomano-inĩ ma njĩra mwĩre mũndũ o wothe mũkuona oke iruga-inĩ rĩa kĩhikanio.’
Go, therefore, to the cross-ways, and invite to the marriage feast as many as you find.
10 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio ndungata icio ikiumagara, igĩthiĩ njĩra-inĩ, igĩcookanĩrĩria andũ othe arĩa ciahotire kuona, igĩĩta arĩa ega o na arĩa ooru, nayo nyũmba ya kĩhikanĩrio ĩkĩiyũra ageni.
And those servants went out into the roads, and brought together all, as many as they found, both bad and good: and the banquet-room was filled with guests.
11 “No rĩrĩa mũthamaki aatoonyire nĩguo one ageni-rĩ, akĩona kuo mũndũ ũmwe ũtehumbĩte nguo cia ũhiki.
And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man that had not put on a wedding-robe.
12 Akĩmũũria atĩrĩ, ‘Mũrata wakwa, ũtoonyire atĩa gũkũ ũtarĩ na nguo cia kĩhikanio?’ Mũndũ ũcio agĩkira ki.
And he said to him, Friend, how came you in hither without a wedding-robe? And he was silent.
13 “Hĩndĩ ĩyo mũthamaki ũcio akĩĩra ndungata ciake atĩrĩ, ‘Muohei moko na magũrũ, mũmũikie nja kũu nduma-inĩ, kũu nĩkuo gũgaakorwo kĩrĩro na kũhagarania magego.’
Then the king said to his servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and throw him into the darkness without: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
14 “Nĩgũkorwo aingĩ nĩmetĩtwo, no arĩa athuure nĩ anini.”
For many are called, but few chosen.
15 Hĩndĩ ĩyo Afarisai makiuma nja, magĩthugunda ũrĩa mangĩmũtega na ciugo ciake.
Then the Pharisees went and held a consultation, that they might entrap him in his words.
And they sent to him their disciples, with the Herodians, saying: Teacher, we know that you are true, and that you teach the way of God in truth, and care not for any one: for you do not look upon the person of men.
17 Rĩu-rĩ, ta gĩtwĩre ũrĩa ũgwĩciiria. Nĩ kwagĩrĩire tũrutagĩre Kaisari igooti, kana aca?”
Tell us, therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to give tribute to Cæsar, or not?
18 No Jesũ, nĩ ũndũ wa kũmenya meciiria mao mooru, akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Inyuĩ hinga ici, mũrenda kũngeria nĩkĩ?
But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said to them: Why do you tempt me, hypocrites?
19 Nyoniai mbeeca ĩrĩa ĩhũthagĩrwo ya kũrĩha igooti.” Nao makĩmũtwarĩra dinari,
Show me the tribute-money. And they brought him a denarius.
20 nake akĩmooria atĩrĩ, “Mbica ĩno na rĩĩtwa rĩĩrĩ nĩ cia ũ?”
And he said to them: Whose image and superscription is this?
21 Nao makĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Nĩ cia Kaisari.” Agĩcooka akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Rutagĩrai Kaisari kĩrĩa kĩrĩ gĩake, na mũrutagĩre Ngai kĩrĩa kĩrĩ gĩake.”
They said to him: Cæsar’s. Then he said to them: Give, therefore, to Cæsar the things that are Cæsar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.
22 Rĩrĩa maiguire ũguo-rĩ, makĩgega. Nĩ ũndũ ũcio magĩtigana nake, magĩĩthiĩra.
And when they heard it, they were astonished, and left him, and went away.
23 Mũthenya o ro ũcio Asadukai, arĩa moigaga atĩ gũtirĩ ũhoro wa kũriũka, magĩũka kũrĩ Jesũ makĩmwĩra atĩrĩ,
On that day there came to him the Sadducees, who say that there is no resurrection; and they put a question to him,
saying: Teacher, Moses commanded, If any one die without children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up children for his brother.
25 Na rĩrĩ, kwarĩ aanake mũgwanja a nyina ũmwe gatagatĩ-inĩ gaitũ.
Now there were with us seven brothers; and the first took a wife, and died; and, having no child, left his wife to his brother.
In like manner also the second, and the third, to the seventh.
27 Marigĩrĩrio-rĩ, mũtumia ũcio nake agĩkua.
Last of all, the woman also died.
28 Rĩu-rĩ, hĩndĩ ya kũriũka-rĩ, mũtumia ũcio agaakorwo arĩ wa ũ harĩ acio mũgwanja, tondũ othe nĩmamũhikĩtie?”
Therefore, in the resurrection, of which of the seven will she be the wife? for they all had her.
29 Nake Jesũ akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, “Inyuĩ mũhĩtĩtie tondũ mũtiũĩ Maandĩko o na kana hinya wa Ngai.
Jesus answered and said to them: You err, because you know neither the scriptures nor the power of God.
30 Hĩndĩ ya kũriũka andũ matikahikania kana mahike; magaatuĩka ta araika arĩa marĩ kũu igũrũ.
For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
31 No ha ũhoro wa kũriũka kwa arĩa akuũ-rĩ, kaĩ mũtathomete ũrĩa Ngai oigire atĩrĩ,
But, concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying:
32 ‘Niĩ nĩ niĩ Ngai wa Iburahĩmu, na Ngai wa Isaaka, na Ngai wa Jakubu?’ We ti Ngai wa arĩa akuũ, no nĩ Ngai wa arĩa marĩ muoyo.”
I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
33 Rĩrĩa kĩrĩndĩ kĩu kĩaiguire ũguo, gĩkĩgegio nĩ ũrutani wake.
And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his teaching.
34 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa Afarisai maaiguire atĩ Jesũ nĩahootete Asadukai, magĩcookanĩrĩra hamwe.
When the Pharisees heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they came together.
And one of them, who was a lawyer, asked him a question, that he might tempt him, saying:
36 “Mũrutani, nĩ rĩathani rĩrĩkũ inene thĩinĩ wa Watho?”
Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesũ akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “‘Endaga Mwathani Ngai waku na ngoro yaku yothe, na muoyo waku wothe, na meciiria maku mothe.’
Jesus said to him: You shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart, and with your whole soul, and with your whole mind.
38 Rĩĩrĩ nĩrĩo rĩathani rĩa mbere na rĩrĩa inene.
This is the first and great commandment.
39 Narĩo rĩa keerĩ no ta rĩu: ‘Endaga mũndũ ũrĩa ũngĩ o ta ũrĩa wĩyendete wee mwene.’
And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
On these two commandments hang the whole law and the prophets.
41 Na hĩndĩ ĩyo Afarisai monganĩte hamwe-rĩ, Jesũ akĩmooria atĩrĩ,
While the Pharisees were together, Jesus asked them a question,
42 “Mwĩciiragia atĩa ũhoro wa Kristũ? Muugaga nĩ mũrũ wa ũ?” Nao makĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Nĩ mũrũ wa Daudi.”
saying: What think you of the Christ? whose son is he? They said to him: The son of David.
43 Nake akĩmooria atĩrĩ, “Nĩ kĩĩ gĩagĩtũmire Daudi akĩaria arĩ na Roho amwĩte ‘Mwathani’? Nĩgũkorwo oigire atĩrĩ,
He said to them: How then does David in spirit call him Lord, saying,
44 “‘Mwathani eerire Mwathani wakwa atĩrĩ: “Ikara guoko-inĩ gwakwa kwa ũrĩo, nginya ngaiga thũ ciaku rungu rwa makinya maku.”’
The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand till I make thy enemies thy footstool.
45 Angĩkorwo Daudi amwĩtaga ‘Mwathani-rĩ’, angĩgĩtuĩka mũriũ wake atĩa?”
If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?
46 Gũtirĩ mũndũ wahotire kũmũcookeria, na kuuma mũthenya ũcio gũtirĩ mũndũ wacookire kũgeria kũmũũria ciũria ingĩ.
And no one was able to answer him a word; nor did any one, from that day, dare to ask him another question.
