< Mariko 1 >
1 Kĩambĩrĩria kĩa Ũhoro-ũrĩa-Mwega ũkoniĩ Jesũ Kristũ Mũrũ wa Ngai.
The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ;
2 O ta ũrĩa kwandĩkĩtwo ibuku-inĩ rĩa Isaia ũrĩa mũnabii atĩrĩ: “Nĩngũtũma mũtũmwo wakwa athiĩ mbere yaku, ũrĩa ũgũgũthondekera njĩra yaku.”
as it is written in Isaiah the prophet: “Lo! I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way;”
3 “Kũrĩ mũgambo wa mũndũ ũkwanĩrĩra werũ-inĩ akoiga atĩrĩ, ‘Haarĩriai njĩra ya Mwathani, rũngariai njĩra ciake.’”
“The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths!”
4 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Johana ookire akĩhunjagia, na akĩbatithanagĩria werũ-inĩ. Aahunjagia atĩ andũ merire, nĩguo marekerwo mehia mao, nĩgeetha mabatithio.
John the Baptizer appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
5 Nao andũ othe a bũrũri wa Judea na andũ othe a Jerusalemu magĩthiĩ kũrĩ we. Moimbũraga mehia mao, nake akamabatithĩria rũũĩ-inĩ rwa Jorodani.
And there went out to him all the country of Judaea, and all they of Jerusalem and were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a leathern girdle about his loins, and he ate locusts and wild honey.
7 Nayo ndũmĩrĩri yake yarĩ ĩno: “Thuutha wakwa nĩgũgũũka mũndũ ũngĩ ũrĩ na hinya kũngĩra, ũrĩa niĩ itagĩrĩire kũinamĩrĩra njohore ndigi cia iraatũ ciake.
And he preached, saying, There cometh after me one mightier than I, the latchet of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loose.
8 Niĩ ndĩmũbatithagia na maaĩ, nowe arĩmũbatithagia na Roho Mũtheru.”
I have baptized you with water; but he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit.
9 Na rĩrĩ, ihinda o rĩu Jesũ agĩũka oimĩte Nazarethi kũu Galili, na akĩbatithio nĩ Johana rũũĩ-inĩ rwa Jorodani.
And it came to pass that in those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
10 Na rĩrĩa Jesũ oimĩraga maaĩ-inĩ akĩona igũrũ rĩahingũka, nake Roho Mũtheru akĩmũikũrũkĩra ahaana ta ndutura.
And immediately on coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens parted, and the Spirit descending as a dove upon him.
11 Mũgambo ũkiuma igũrũ ũkiuga atĩrĩ, “We nĩwe Mũrũ wakwa ũrĩa nyendete, na nĩngenaga mũno nĩwe.”
And there was a voice from the heavens, “Thou art my beloved Son; with thee I am well pleased.”
12 Na o rĩmwe Roho akĩmuoya akĩmũtwara werũ-inĩ,
And immediately the Spirit driveth him forth into the wilderness.
13 na agĩikara kũu werũ-inĩ matukũ mĩrongo ĩna, akĩgeragio nĩ Shaitani. Nake aikaranagia na nyamũ cia gĩthaka, nao araika makamũtungatagĩra.
And he was in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered to him.
14 Thuutha wa Johana gũikio njeera, Jesũ agĩthiĩ Galili akĩhunjagia Ũhoro-ũrĩa-Mwega wa Ngai,
But after John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the glad tidings of God,
15 akiuga atĩrĩ, “Ihinda nĩikinyu, naguo ũthamaki wa Ngai nĩũkuhĩrĩirie. Mwĩrirei mwĩtĩkie Ũhoro-ũrĩa-Mwega!”
[[saying, ]] The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe the glad tidings.
16 Na rĩrĩa Jesũ aathiiagĩra hũgũrũrũ-inĩ cia iria rĩa Galili, nĩonire Simoni na mũrũ wa nyina Anderea magĩikia neti ciao iria-inĩ, nĩgũkorwo maarĩ ategi a thamaki.
And as he was passing along by the lake of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon dragging a net in the lake; for they were fishers.
17 Nake Jesũ akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Ũkai, mũnũmĩrĩre, na nĩngamũtua ategi a andũ.”
And Jesus said to them, Come after me, and I will cause you to become fishers of men.
18 O rĩmwe magĩtiganĩria neti ciao makĩmũrũmĩrĩra.
And immediately they left their nets, and followed him.
And going on a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending the nets;
20 O rĩmwe akĩmeeta, nao magĩtiga ithe wao Zebedi gatarũ-inĩ hamwe na aruti ake a wĩra na makĩmũrũmĩrĩra.
and immediately he called them. And leaving their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men, they went after him.
And they enter Capernaum; and immediately on the sabbath he was teaching in the synagogue.
22 Na andũ makĩgegio nĩ ũrutani wake, nĩgũkorwo aamarutaga ta mũndũ warĩ na ũhoti, no ti ta arutani a watho.
And they were astonished at his teaching; for he taught them as having authority, and not as the scribes.
23 Na rĩrĩ, hĩndĩ o ĩyo kũu thunagogi yao, nĩ kwarĩ na mũndũ warĩ na ngoma thũku, nake akĩanĩrĩra, akiuga atĩrĩ,
And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, and he cried out,
saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus of Nazareth? Thou hast come to destroy us; we know who thou art, the Holy One of God.
25 Nake Jesũ akĩmĩkũma na hinya, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Kira na uume thĩinĩ wake!”
And Jesus rebuked him, [[saying, ]] Be silent, and come out of him.
26 Ngoma ĩyo thũku ĩkĩmũthukathuka na hinya na ĩkiuma thĩinĩ wake ĩgĩkayaga.
And the unclean spirit convulsing him, and crying out with a loud voice, came out of him.
27 Andũ acio othe makĩgega mũno nginya makĩũrania atĩrĩ, “Ũndũ ũyũ nĩ ũrĩkũ? Ũyũ nĩ ũrutani mwerũ, wĩ na ũhoti! Nĩ araatha o na ngoma thũku na ikamwathĩkĩra.”
And they were all amazed, so that they questioned each other, saying, What is this? New teaching with authority; even the unclean spirits doth he command, and they obey him!
And immediately his fame spread abroad everywhere through the whole surrounding country of Galilee.
29 Na maarĩkia kuuma thunagogi, magĩthiĩ na Jakubu na Johana mũciĩ gwa Simoni na Anderea.
And having come out of the synagogue, they immediately entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
And Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever; and they immediately speak to him about her.
And he went to her, and took her by the hand, and raised her up; and the fever left her, and she waited on them.
And in the evening, when the sun had set, they brought to him all that were sick, and those who were possessed by demons;
33 Nao andũ a itũũra othe makĩũngana hau mũrango-inĩ wa nyũmba,
and the whole city was assembled at the door.
34 nake Jesũ akĩhonia andũ aingĩ arĩa maarĩ na mĩrimũ mĩthemba mĩingĩ. Ningĩ akĩingata ndaimono nyingĩ, no ndetĩkĩririe ndaimono ciarie tondũ nĩciamũũĩ.
And he healed many that were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and he suffered not the demons to speak, because they knew him.
35 Rũciinĩ kĩroko tene kũrĩ o na nduma, Jesũ agĩũkĩra akiuma nyũmba agĩthiĩ handũ keheri-inĩ, akĩhoera ho.
And rising early, long before day, he went out, and withdrew into a desert place, and there prayed.
36 Nake Simoni na arĩa maarĩ nao magĩthiĩ kũmwetha,
And Simon and those with him went in search of him,
37 na rĩrĩa maamuonire, makĩanĩrĩra, makĩmwĩra atĩrĩ: “Andũ othe nĩwe maracaria!”
and found him. And they say to him, All people are in search of thee.
38 Jesũ akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, “Rekei tuume gũkũ tũthiĩ kũndũ kũngĩ, matũũra-inĩ marĩa me hakuhĩ, nĩguo hunjie o nakuo. Tondũ nĩkĩo ndokire.”
And he saith to them, Let us go elsewhere into the neighboring towns, that I may preach there also; for, for this I came forth.
39 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio agĩthiũrũrũka Galili guothe akĩhunjagia thunagogi-inĩ ciao na akĩingataga ndaimono.
And he went, preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and casting out the demons.
40 Na mũndũ ũmwe warĩ na mangũ agĩũka kũrĩ we na akĩmũthaitha aturĩtie maru, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Ũngĩenda-rĩ, no ũũtherie.”
And there cometh a leper to him beseeching him, and kneeling down, saying to him, If thou wilt, thou canst cleanse me.
41 Nake Jesũ akĩringwo nĩ tha nyingĩ, agĩtambũrũkia guoko gwake akĩhutia mũndũ ũcio. Akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Nĩ ngwenda. Therio.”
And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith, I will; be thou cleansed.
42 Na o hĩndĩ ĩyo mũndũ ũcio agĩthirwo nĩ mangũ, akĩhonio.
And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed.
43 Nake Jesũ akĩmũkaania na hinya na akĩmwĩra athiĩ,
And sternly charging him, he immediately sent him away,
44 ningĩ akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Menya ndũkeere mũndũ o na ũrĩkũ ũhoro ũyũ. No thiĩ ũkeyonanie kũrĩ mũthĩnjĩri-Ngai, na ũrute magongona marĩa Musa aathanĩte nĩ ũndũ wa gũtherio gwaku, ũtuĩke ũira kũrĩ o.”
saying to him, See that thou say nothing to any one; but go, show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing what Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.
45 No handũ ha ũguo agĩthiĩ, akĩambĩrĩria kwaria na kũmemerekia ũhoro ũcio. Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Jesũ ndacookire kũhota gũtoonya itũũra thĩinĩ akĩonagwo nĩ andũ, no aikaraga na nja kũndũ gũtaarĩ andũ. No andũ no mookaga kũrĩ we moimĩte kũndũ guothe.
But he went away, and began to publish it constantly, and to spread the matter abroad, so that Jesus could no more enter a city openly, but was without in desert places; and they came to him from every quarter.
