< Mariko 9 >

1 Jesũ agĩcooka akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ na ma, amwe marũngiĩ haha matigacama gĩkuũ matonete ũthamaki wa Ngai ũgĩũka wĩ na hinya!”
And He said to them, Truly I say unto you, that there are certain ones of those standing here, who may not taste of death, until they may see the kingdom of God, having come with power.
After six days Jesus takes Peter, and John, and James, and carries them up into an exceedingly high mountain privately alone; and was transfigured before them:
3 Nguo ciake ikĩerũha cua; gũtirĩ mũndũ gũkũ thĩ ũngĩahotire gũcithambia cierũhe ũguo.
and His raiment became resplendent, exceedingly white like snow; as no fuller on earth is able to whiten.
4 Na marĩ o hau makiumĩrĩrwo nĩ Elija na Musa, makĩaranĩria na Jesũ.
And Elijah was seen by them with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.
5 Nake Petero akĩĩra Jesũ atĩrĩ, “Rabii, nĩtwagĩrĩirwo nĩ gũikara gũkũ. Reke twake ithũnũ ithatũ, kĩmwe gĩaku, na kĩmwe kĩa Musa, na kĩmwe kĩa Elija.”
And Peter responding says to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah:
6 (Petero oigire ũguo tondũ nĩarigĩtwo nĩ ũrĩa ekuuga, nĩ tondũ wa ũrĩa maamakĩte.)
for he did not know what he might say; for they were afraid.
7 Ningĩ hagĩũka itu, rĩkĩmahumbĩra, na mũgambo ũkiuma itu-inĩ rĩu, ũkiuga atĩrĩ, “Ũyũ nĩwe Mũrũ wakwa, ũrĩa nyendete. Mũiguagei!”
And there was a cloud overshadowing them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear ye Him.
8 Na kahinda o kau makĩĩhũgũra, no mationire mũndũ ũngĩ arĩ hamwe nao, tiga o Jesũ.
And immediately looking around, they saw no one, but Jesus only with them.
9 Na rĩrĩa maikũrũkaga kuuma kĩrĩma-inĩ, Jesũ akĩmaatha matikeere mũndũ o na ũrĩkũ ũrĩa monete, nginya rĩrĩa Mũrũ wa Mũndũ agaakorwo ariũkĩte akoima kũrĩ arĩa akuũ.
And they coming down from the mountain, He charged them, that they should relate to no one the things which they saw, until the Son of man may rise from the dead.
10 Nao magĩkira na ũhoro ũcio, no makooranagia o ene atĩrĩ, “kũriũka kuuma kũrĩ akuũ nĩ kuuga atĩa.”
And they held the word to themselves, inquiring, what it is to rise from the dead.
11 Nao makĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Nĩ kĩĩ gĩtũmaga arutani a watho moige atĩ Elija no nginya ambe ooke?”
And they asked Him, saying, that the scribes say, that it behooves Elijah first to come.
12 Jesũ akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, “Ti-itherũ Elija no nginya ambe ooke ahaarĩrie maũndũ mothe. Ningĩ nĩ kĩĩ gĩgĩtũmĩte kwandĩkwo atĩ Mũrũ wa Mũndũ no nginya athĩĩnĩke mũno na aregwo nĩ andũ?
He responding said to them, Elijah indeed having first come, restores all things: and how has it been written in reference to the Son of man, that he should suffer many things, and be set at naught?
13 No ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, Elija nĩarĩkĩtie gũũka na andũ makamwĩka o ũrĩa wothe meendaga kũmwĩka, o ta ũrĩa ũhoro wake wandĩkĩtwo.”
But I say unto you, that Elijah indeed has come, and they did unto him so many things as they wished, as has been written in reference to him.
14 Na rĩrĩa maakinyire harĩ arutwo arĩa angĩ, makĩona kĩrĩndĩ kĩnene kĩmarigiicĩirie, na arutani a watho magĩkararania nao.
And having come to the disciples, He saw a great multitude around them and the scribes disputing with them!
And immediately the whole multitude, seeing Him, became excited, and running to Him, seized Him; and He asked the scribes,
16 Nake akĩmooria atĩrĩ, “Nĩ kĩĩ mũrakararanĩria nao?”
Why are you disputing with them?
17 Mũndũ ũmwe warĩ kĩrĩndĩ-inĩ kĩu akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Mũrutani, ngũkũreheire mũrũ wakwa, ũkoragwo arĩ na ngoma thũku na ndaaragia.
And one responding from the multitude, said, Teacher, I have brought my son to thee, having a dumb spirit.
18 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa yothe yamũnyiita, ĩmũtungumanagia thĩ na akarutaga mũhũyũ na kanua, akahagarania magego na akomagara. Njũũririe arutwo aku maingate ngoma ĩyo thũku, no matinahota.”
And when he may take him, he lacerates him: and he froths, and gnashes his teeth, and pines away. And I said to thy disciples, that they should cast him out; and they were not able.
19 Jesũ akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, “Inyuĩ rũciaro rũrũ rũtetĩkagia, nĩ nginya rĩ ngũikarania na inyuĩ? Ngũmũkirĩrĩria nginya rĩ? Ndeherai kamwana kau.”
And He responding to them, says, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? Bring him hither to me.
20 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio magĩgatwarĩra Jesũ. Rĩrĩa ngoma ĩyo thũku yoonire Jesũ, ĩgĩgathiorania o rĩmwe. Gagĩtungumana thĩ, gakĩgaragara, gakĩrutaga mũhũyũ na kanua.
And they brought him to Him; and seeing Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him; and falling on the ground, he continued to wallow, foaming.
21 Nake Jesũ akĩũria ithe wa kamwana kau atĩrĩ, “Nĩ hĩndĩ ĩigana atĩa gakoretwo kahaana ũguo?” Nake agĩcookia atĩrĩ, “Nĩ kuuma arĩ o kaana.
And He asked his father, How long is it since this occurred to him? And he said, from childhood:
22 Na maita maingĩ yanagaikia mwaki-inĩ o na maaĩ-inĩ ĩkoorage. No akorwo nĩ harĩ ũndũ ũngĩka, tũiguĩre tha ũtũteithie.”
and frequently he cast him into the fire and into the waters, in order that he may destroy him: but if you are able to do anything, assist us, being moved with compassion towards us.
23 Jesũ akĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Atĩ ‘korwo ndahota’? Maũndũ mothe nĩmahotekaga kũrĩ mũndũ ũrĩa wĩtĩkĩtie.”
And Jesus said to him, It is this, if you are able (to believe); all things are possible to him that believeth.
24 O rĩmwe ithe wa kamwana kau akĩanĩrĩra, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Nĩndetĩkia, ndeithia harĩa njagĩte gwĩtĩkia.”
And immediately the father of the child crying out with tears, continued to say, I believe; assist thou my unbelief.
25 Rĩrĩa Jesũ oonire atĩ kĩrĩndĩ nĩgĩatengʼerete gĩũke hau, agĩkũũma ngoma ĩyo thũku. Akĩmĩĩra atĩrĩ, “Wee ngoma ĩno thũku ũtaiguaga na ũtaaragia, nĩndagwatha uume thĩinĩ wa kamwana gaka, na ndũkanacooke gũtoonya thĩinĩ wako rĩngĩ.”
And Jesus seeing that the multitude are running together, rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to him, Dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, come out from him, and enter no more into him.
26 Ngoma ĩyo thũku ĩgĩkayũrũrũka, ĩgĩgathiorania na hinya, na ĩkiuma. Kamwana kau gakĩhaana ta karĩ gakuũ, o nginya andũ aingĩ makiuga atĩrĩ, “Nĩ gakuũ.”
And crying out, and convulsing he came out. And he became like a corpse; so that many said, that, he is dead.
27 No Jesũ agĩkanyiita guoko, agĩgokĩria, nako gakĩrũgama.
And Jesus, taking him by the hand, lifted him up; and he stood up.
28 Thuutha wa Jesũ gũtoonya nyũmba, arutwo ake makĩmũũrĩria keheri-inĩ atĩrĩ, “Nĩ kĩĩ gĩtũmire ithuĩ tũremwo nĩ kũingata ngoma ĩyo?”
And His disciples asked I Iim privately, having come into the house, Why were we not able to cast him out?
And He said unto them, This kind is able to come out by nothing, but by prayer.
And they coming out thence, traveled through Galilee; and He was not willing that any one should know it.
31 tondũ nĩarutaga arutwo ake. Nake akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Mũrũ wa Mũndũ nĩegũkunyanĩrwo aneanwo moko-inĩ ma andũ, nao nĩmakamũũraga, no thuutha wa mĩthenya ĩtatũ nĩakariũka.”
For He was teaching His disciples, and saying to them, The Son of man is betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him; and having been killed, He will rise again the third day.
32 No matiigana gũtaũkĩrwo nĩ ũrĩa oigaga, na magĩĩtigĩra kũmũũria ũhoro ũcio.
And they did not understand the word, and they were afraid to ask Him.
33 Nao magĩkinya Kaperinaumu. Na rĩrĩa aarĩ nyũmba thĩinĩ akĩmooria atĩrĩ, “Mũgũkararanagĩria kĩĩ tũrĩ njĩra-inĩ?”
And He came into Capernaum. And He being in the house asked them, What were you disputing about to one another in the way?
34 No-o magĩkira tondũ marĩ njĩra-inĩ nĩmakararanagia makĩũranagia nũũ mũnene kũrĩ arĩa angĩ.
And they were silent: for they were disputing to one another in the way, who was the greater.
And sitting down, He called the twelve; and says to them, If any one wishes to be first, he shall be last of all, and servant of all.
36 Nake akĩrehe kaana agĩkarũgamia gatagatĩ kao. Na aarĩkia gũkaiyũkia moko-inĩ make, akĩmeera atĩrĩ,
And taking a little child, He placed it in their midst; and taking it up in His arms, He said to them,
37 “Ũrĩa wothe ũngĩamũkĩra kaana kamwe ta gaka thĩinĩ wa rĩĩtwa rĩakwa, nĩ niĩ aamũkagĩra; na ũrĩa ũngĩnyamũkĩra niĩ to niĩ aamũkagĩra, no nĩamũkagĩra ũrĩa wandũmire.”
Whosoever may receive one of such little children in my name, receives me: and whosoever may receive me, receives not me, but Him that sent me.
38 Johana akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Mũrutani, nĩtũronire mũndũ akĩingata ndaimono thĩinĩ wa rĩĩtwa rĩaku tũramwĩra atige, tondũ ti ũmwe witũ.”
And John responded to Him saying, Teacher, we saw one casting out demons in Thy name, who does not follow us; and we forbade him, because he does not follow us.
39 Nake Jesũ akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Mũtikamũgirie! Gũtirĩ mũndũ ũngĩringa kĩama thĩinĩ wa rĩĩtwa rĩakwa na thuutha ũcio ahote gũcooka kwaria ũũru wakwa,
And Jesus said, Forbid him not. For there is no one who shall do a miracle in my name, and be able quickly to speak evil of me.
40 Nĩgũkorwo ũrĩa ũtarĩ ũthũ na ithuĩ nĩ ũmwe witũ.
For whosoever is not against us, is on our side.
41 Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ na ma, mũndũ o wothe ũrĩa ũkaamũhe gĩkombe kĩa maaĩ thĩinĩ wa rĩĩtwa rĩakwa nĩ ũndũ mũrĩ a Kristũ, ndarĩ hĩndĩ akoorwo nĩ igai rĩake.”
For whosoever may give you a cup of water in my name, because you are Christ's, truly I say unto you, can not lose his reward.
42 “Na mũndũ ũrĩa wothe ũgaatũma kamwe ga twana tũtũ tũnjĩtĩkĩtie kehie, wega nĩ mũndũ ũcio ohererwo ihiga rĩa gĩthĩi ngingo na aikio thĩinĩ wa iria.
Whosoever may offend one of these little ones who believe in me, rather is it good for him, if a millstone is hung about his neck, and he may be cast into the sea.
43 Guoko gwaku kũngĩtũma wĩhie, gũtinie. Nĩ kaba ũtoonye muoyo-inĩ wĩ kĩonje,
And if thy hand may offend thee, cut it off: it is good for thee to go into life maimed, rather than having two hands to go away into hell, into the fire that can not be quenched. (Geenna g1067)
44 gũkĩra ũthiĩ Jehanamu kũrĩa kũrĩ mwaki ũtahoraga ũrĩ na moko meerĩ. (Geenna g1067)
45 Nakuo kũgũrũ gwaku kũngĩtũma wĩhie, gũtinie. Nĩ kaba ũtoonye muoyo-inĩ ũrĩ gĩthua, gũkĩra ũikio Jehanamu ũrĩ na magũrũ meerĩ. (Geenna g1067)
If thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is good for thee to go into life lame, rather than have two feet to be cast into hell. (Geenna g1067)
If thine eye may offend thee, cast it from thee: it is good for thee entering into the kingdom of God having one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell; (Geenna g1067)
48 kũu “‘kĩgunyũ kĩrĩa kĩmarĩĩaga gĩtikuaga, naguo mwaki ũrĩa ũmacinaga ndũhoraga.’
where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.
For every one shall be salted with fire.
50 “Cumbĩ nĩ mwega, no cumbĩ ũngĩkorwo nĩũthirĩte mũcamo waguo-rĩ, ũngĩcooka gũcamithio ta cumbĩ na kĩ? Tuĩkai cumbĩ, na mũikaranagie na thayũ.”
Salt is good: but if the salt may become savorless, with what will you salt it? Have salt in yourselves, and live in peace with one another.
