1 “Ti-itherũ mũthenya wa ituĩro nĩũrooka, naguo ũgaakana ta icua rĩa mwaki. Arĩa othe etĩĩi, na arĩa aaganu, magaatuĩka maragara ma mahuti, naguo mũthenya ũcio wakinya magaacinwo, maniinwo biũ. Gũtirĩ mũri kana rũhonge rwao rũgaatigara,” ũguo nĩguo Jehova Mwene-Hinya-Wothe ekuuga.
For, lo, the day hath come, burning as a furnace, And all the proud, and every wicked doer, have been stubble, And burnt them hath the day that came, Said Jehovah of Hosts, That there is not left to them root or branch,
2 “No inyuĩ mwĩtigĩrĩte rĩĩtwa rĩakwa-rĩ, riũa-rĩa-ũthingu rĩkaamwarĩra rĩrĩ na ũhoro wa kũhonania mathagu-inĩ marĩo. Na inyuĩ nĩmũkoima nja mũtũũhe ta tũcaũ tũhingũrĩirwo tũkoima kiugũ.
And risen to you, ye who fear My name, Hath the sun of righteousness — and healing in its wings, And ye have gone forth, and have increased as calves of a stall.
3 Na nĩmũkarangĩrĩria arĩa aaganu matuĩke mũhu rungu rwa makinya manyu mũthenya ũrĩa ngeeka maũndũ macio,” ũguo nĩguo Jehova Mwene-Hinya-Wothe ekuuga.
And ye have trodden down the wicked, For they are ashes under the soles of your feet, In the day that I am appointing, Said Jehovah of Hosts.
4 “Ririkanai watho wa ndungata yakwa Musa, na irĩra ciakwa cia kũrũmĩrĩrwo, o na mawatho marĩa ndaamũheire kũu Horebu marĩ ma andũ a Isiraeli othe.
Remember ye the law of Moses My servant, That I did command him in Horeb, For all Israel — statutes and judgments.
5 “Atĩrĩrĩ, nĩngamũtũmĩra mũnabii Elija mbere ya mũthenya ũcio mũnene na wa kũmakania wa Jehova ũtanakinya.
Lo, I am sending to you Elijah the prophet, Before the coming of the day of Jehovah, The great and the fearful.
6 Nĩakagarũra ngoro cia maithe icookerere ciana ciao, na agarũre ngoro cia ciana icookerere maithe mao, nĩgeetha ndigooke hũũre bũrũri na kĩrumi.”
And he hath turned back the heart of fathers to sons, And the heart of sons to their fathers, Before I come and have utterly smitten the land!
