< Luka 7 >

1 Nake Jesũ aarĩkia kwaria maũndũ macio mothe andũ makĩmũiguaga, agĩtoonya Kaperinaumu.
Now when he had ended all his sayings (rhema) in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum.
2 No kũu nĩ kwarĩ na ndungata ya mũnene-wa-thigari-igana, ĩrĩa mũmĩathi eendete mũno, nayo yarĩ ndwaru hakuhĩ gũkua.
And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die.
3 Nake mũnene ũcio wa thigari igana aigua ũhoro wa Jesũ, agĩtũma athuuri a Ayahudi kũrĩ we makamũũrie oke ahonie ndungata yake.
And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant.
4 Nao maakinya kũrĩ Jesũ, makĩmũthaitha magwatĩirie mũno, makĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Mũndũ ũyũ nĩagĩrĩirwo gwĩkwo ũguo nĩwe,
And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:
5 tondũ nĩendete rũrĩrĩ rwitũ na nĩatwakĩire thunagogi.”
For he loves our nation, and he has built us a synagogue.
6 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Jesũ agĩthiĩ nao. Na marĩ hakuhĩ gũkinya mũciĩ, mũnene ũcio wa thigari igana akĩmũtũmĩra arata makamwĩre atĩrĩ, “Mwathani, tiga gwĩthĩĩnia tondũ ndiagĩrĩire wee ũũke gwakwa mũciĩ.
Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not yourself: for I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof:
7 O na nokĩo itanona njagĩrĩire gũũka kũrĩ we. No uga o kiugo, na ndungata yakwa nĩĩkũhona.
Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto you: but say in a word, (logos) and my servant shall be healed.
8 Nĩgũkorwo niĩ mwene ndĩ mũndũ wathagwo, na ndĩ na thigari njathaga. Ndeera ũmwe ‘Thiĩ,’ nĩathiiaga, na ndeera ũngĩ atĩrĩ, ‘Ũka,’ nĩokaga. Na ningĩ ndeera ndungata yakwa atĩrĩ, ‘Ĩka ũna,’ nĩĩkaga.”
For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it.
9 Rĩrĩa Jesũ aiguire ũguo, akĩgega, akĩhũgũkĩra kĩrĩndĩ kĩrĩa kĩamũrũmĩrĩire, agĩkĩĩra atĩrĩ, “Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, ndionete mũndũ ũrĩ na wĩtĩkio mũnene ũũ Isiraeli guothe!”
When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
10 Nao andũ arĩa maatũmĩtwo magĩcooka mũciĩ magĩkora ngombo ĩyo ĩrĩ honu.
And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.
11 Ihinda inini rĩathira, Jesũ agĩthiĩ itũũra rĩetagwo Naini, nao arutwo ake na andũ gĩkundi kĩnene magĩthiĩ nake.
And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.
Nao andũ aingĩ a itũũra rĩu maarĩ hamwe nake.
Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.
13 Rĩrĩa Mwathani onire mũtumia ũcio, akĩmũiguĩra tha, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Tiga kũrĩra.”
And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.
14 Agĩcooka agĩthiĩ, akĩhutia ithandũkũ, nao arĩa maarĩkuuĩte makĩrũgama. Agĩcooka akiuga atĩrĩ, “Mwanake, ndakwĩra atĩrĩ, ũkĩra!”
And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto you, Arise.
15 Mũndũ ũcio wakuĩte agĩũkĩra, akĩambĩrĩria kwaria, nake Jesũ akĩmũnengerana kũrĩ nyina.
And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.
16 Andũ othe makĩiyũrwo nĩ guoya na makĩgooca Ngai, makiuga atĩrĩ, “Mũnabii mũnene nĩokĩte gatagatĩ gaitũ. Ngai nĩokĩte gũteithia andũ ake.”
And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet has risen up among us; and, That God has visited his people.
And this rumour (logos) of him went forth throughout all Judaea, and throughout all the region round about.
18 Nao arutwo a Johana nĩmamũheire ũhoro wa maũndũ macio mothe. Nake Johana agĩĩta arutwo ake eerĩ,
And the disciples of John showed him of all these things.
19 akĩmatũma kũrĩ Mwathani makamũũrie atĩrĩ, “Wee nĩwe ũrĩa werĩtwo nĩagooka kana tweterere mũndũ ũngĩ?”
And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Are you he that should come? or look we for another?
20 Nao arutwo acio maakinya kũrĩ Jesũ makĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Johana Mũbatithania aatũtũma kũrĩ we tũkũũrie atĩrĩ, ‘Wee nĩwe ũrĩa werĩtwo nĩagooka kana tweterere mũndũ ũngĩ?’”
When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist has sent us unto you, saying, Are you he that should come? or look we for another?
21 Ihinda-inĩ o rĩu Jesũ akĩhonia andũ aingĩ arĩa maarĩ na mĩrimũ, na ndwari, na akĩingata ngoma thũku o na agĩtũma andũ aingĩ arĩa maarĩ atumumu macooke kuona.
And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; (pneuma) and unto many that were blind he gave sight.
22 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio agĩcookeria arĩa maatũmĩtwo atĩrĩ, “Cookai mũkeere Johana maũndũ marĩa muonete na mũkaigua: atĩ atumumu nĩ marona, na ithua nĩiretwara, na arĩa marĩ na mangũ nĩ marahonio, na andũ arĩa mataiguaga nĩmaraigua, na arĩa akuũ nĩmarariũkio, na Ũhoro-ũrĩa-Mwega nĩũrahunjĩrio arĩa athĩĩni.
Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things all of you have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.
23 Kũrathimwo nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũtarahĩngwo nĩ ũndũ wakwa.”
And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
24 Andũ acio maatũmĩtwo nĩ Johana moima harĩ Jesũ, Jesũ akĩambĩrĩria kwarĩria andũ aingĩ ũhoro wa Johana, akĩmooria atĩrĩ, “Nĩ kĩĩ mwathiĩte kuona werũ-inĩ? Hihi mwathiĩte kuona kamũrangi kainainagio nĩ rũhuho?
And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went all of you out into the wilderness in order to see? A reed shaken with the wind?
But what went all of you out in order to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings' courts.
26 Mwagĩthiĩte kuona kĩ? Hihi mwathiĩte kuona mũnabii? Ĩĩ, ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, muonire mũndũ ũkĩrĩte mũnabii.
But what went all of you out in order to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet.
27 Ũyũ nĩwe ũrĩa ũhoro wake wandĩkĩtwo atĩrĩ: “‘Nĩngatũma mũtũmwo wakwa athiĩ mbere yaku, nake nĩagagũthondekera njĩra.’
This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before your face, which shall prepare your way before you.
28 Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, harĩ andũ arĩa manaciarwo nĩ atumia-rĩ, gũtirĩ o na ũmwe mũnene gũkĩra Johana; no mũndũ ũrĩa mũnini mũno ũthamaki-inĩ wa Ngai, nĩ mũnene kũmũkĩra.”
For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
29 (Andũ othe, o na etia mbeeca cia igooti, rĩrĩa maiguire ciugo cia Jesũ, magĩtĩkĩra atĩ njĩra ya Ngai nĩ ya ma, tondũ maabatithĩtio nĩ Johana.
And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John.
30 No Afarisai na arutani a watho makĩregana na ũrĩa Ngai endaga meke, tondũ o matiabatithĩtio nĩ Johana.)
But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.
31 Nake Jesũ akiuga atĩrĩ, “Andũ a rũciaro rũrũ ingĩmagerekania na kĩ? Matariĩ ta kĩ?
And the Lord said, Unto which then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like?
32 Matariĩ ta ciana ciikarĩte ndũnyũ igĩĩta iria ingĩ, igaciĩra atĩrĩ: “‘Twamũhuhĩire mũtũrirũ, mũkĩaga kũina; twamũinĩire rwĩmbo rwa macakaya, no mũtiarĩrire.’
They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and all of you have not danced; we have mourned to you, and all of you have not wept.
33 Nĩgũkorwo Johana Mũbatithania ookire atekũrĩa na atekũnyua ndibei, na inyuĩ mũkiuga atĩrĩ, ‘Arĩ na ndaimono.’
For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and all of you say, He has a devil.
The Son of man has come eating and drinking; and all of you say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a wine indulger, a friend of publicans and sinners!
35 No ũũgĩ nĩũmenyekaga nĩ wa kĩhooto nĩ ciana ciaguo ciothe.”
But wisdom is justified of all her children.
36 Na rĩrĩ, Mũfarisai ũmwe nĩetire Jesũ gwake makarĩanĩre irio cia hwaĩ-inĩ nake, nĩ ũndũ ũcio Jesũ agĩthiĩ nyũmba ya Mũfarisai ũcio, agĩikara metha-inĩ.
And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to food.
And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at food in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,
And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39 Rĩrĩa Mũfarisai ũrĩa wamwĩtĩte onire ũndũ ũcio, akĩĩra na ngoro atĩrĩ, “Korwo mũndũ ũyũ nĩ mũnabii, nĩangĩamenya ũrĩa ũramũhutia nĩ mũndũ-wa-nja wa mũthemba ũrĩkũ, na atĩ nĩ mwĩhia.”
Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spoke within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that touches him: for she is a sinner.
And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto you. And he says, Master, say on.
There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
42 Na rĩrĩ, gũtirĩ o na ũmwe wao warĩ na mbeeca cia kũmũrĩha, nĩ ũndũ ũcio marĩ o eerĩ akĩmarekera thiirĩ ũcio. Rĩu-rĩ, acio eerĩ nũũ ũngĩmwenda makĩria?”
And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
43 Simoni akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Ngwĩciiria nĩ ũrĩa warekeirwo thiirĩ ũrĩa mũnene.” Jesũ akiuga atĩrĩ, “Nĩwatua wega.”
Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, You have rightly judged.
44 Agĩcooka akĩĩhũgũrĩra mũndũ-wa-nja ũcio, akĩĩra Simoni atĩrĩ, “Nĩũkuona mũndũ-wa-nja ũyũ? Njũkire nyũmba gwaku, no ndũnaahe maaĩ ma gwĩthamba nyarĩrĩ, no nĩanjihũgia nyarĩrĩ na maithori make, na acigiria na njuĩrĩ yake.
And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, See you this woman? I entered into your house, you gave me no water for my feet: but she has washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.
45 Wee-rĩ, ndũnaamumunya, no mũndũ-wa-nja ũyũ, kuuma rĩrĩa ndonyire ndarĩ aratigithĩria kũmumunya nyarĩrĩ ciakwa.
You gave me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in has not ceased to kiss my feet.
46 Wee-rĩ, ndũnanjitĩrĩria maguta mũtwe, no ũyũ nĩanjitĩrĩirie maguta manungi wega nyarĩrĩ.
My head with oil you did not anoint: but this woman has anointed my feet with ointment.
47 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio ngũkwĩra atĩrĩ, nĩarekeirwo mehia make maingĩ. Nĩgũkorwo nĩendanĩte mũno. No ũrĩa ũrekeirwo mehia manini, endanaga o hanini.”
Wherefore I say unto you, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.
48 Jesũ agĩcooka akĩĩra mũndũ-wa-nja ũcio atĩrĩ, “Nĩwarekerwo mehia maku.”
And he said unto her, Your sins are forgiven.
49 Ageni arĩa angĩ makĩambĩrĩria kwĩrana atĩrĩ, “Kaĩ ũyũ akĩrĩ ũ, ũrarekanĩra o na mehia?”
And they that sat at food with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgives sins also?
50 Jesũ akĩĩra mũndũ-wa-nja ũcio atĩrĩ, “Gwĩtĩkia gwaku nĩ gwakũhonokia; thiĩ na thayũ.”
And he said to the woman, Your faith has saved you; go in peace.
