Luka 19
1 Na rĩrĩ, Jesũ nĩatoonyire Jeriko, akĩhĩtũkĩra kuo.
And, having entered, he was passing through Jericho;
2 Nakuo kũu Jeriko nĩ kwarĩ mũndũ wetagwo Zakayo; warĩ mũnene wa etia mbeeca cia igooti na aarĩ gĩtonga.
and lo! a man, by name called Zacchaeus, and, he, was a chief tax-collector, and [he] was rich.
3 Nĩendaga kuona Jesũ aarĩ ũ, no ndangĩahotire kũmuona nĩ ũndũ wa ũingĩ wa andũ, na tondũ aarĩ mũndũ mũkuhĩ.
And he was seeking to see Jesus, what sort of man he was, and could not for the multitude, because, in stature, he was, small.
4 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio akĩhanyũka mbere yao, akĩhaica mũkũyũ nĩguo amuone, nĩgũkorwo Jesũ aageragĩra njĩra ĩyo.
And, running forward unto the front, he got up a sycamore-tree, that he might see him; for, by that way, was he about to pass.
5 Nake Jesũ aakinya hau, agĩtiira maitho na igũrũ, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Zakayo, harũrũka narua, tondũ ũmũthĩ no nginya thiĩ gwaku mũciĩ.”
And, as he came up to the place, looking up, Jesus said unto him—Zacchaeus! make haste, and come down; For, to-day, in thy house, I must needs abide.
6 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio akĩharũrũka narua, akĩmũnyiita ũgeni akenete.
And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
7 Nao andũ moona ũguo makĩambĩrĩria kũnuguna, makiuga atĩrĩ, “Mũndũ ũyũ aathiĩ gũceera kwa mũndũ mwĩhia.”
And all, when they beheld, began to murmur, saying—With a sinful man, hath he gone in to lodge!
8 Nowe Zakayo akĩrũgama, akĩĩra Mwathani atĩrĩ, “Mwathani, rĩu nĩngũheana nuthu ya indo ciakwa kũrĩ athĩĩni, na hangĩkorwo harĩ mũndũ o na ũrĩkũ ndunyĩte kĩndũ, nĩngũmũrĩha kĩndũ kĩu maita mana.”
But, taking his stand, Zacchaeus said unto the Lord—Lo! the half of my possessions, Lord, unto the destitute, I give; and, if, from anyone, I have taken aught by false accusation, I give back fourfold.
9 Nake Jesũ akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Ũmũthĩ ũhonokio nĩũkinyĩte nyũmba ĩno, tondũ mũndũ ũyũ o nake nĩ mũrũ wa Iburahĩmu.
And Jesus said unto him—This day, salvation, unto this house, hath come, —for that, he too, is, a son of Abraham;
10 Nĩgũkorwo Mũrũ wa Mũndũ ookire gũcaria na kũhonokia kĩrĩa kĩũrĩte.”
For the Son of Man came, to seek and to save what was lost.
11 Na o mathikĩrĩirie maũndũ macio, agĩthiĩ na mbere kũmahe ũhoro na ngerekano, tondũ nĩakuhĩrĩirie Jerusalemu, na andũ acio meciiragia atĩ ũthamaki wa Ngai warĩ o hakuhĩ gũkinya.
And, because they were hearing these things, he added and spake a parable, because of his being near Jerusalem, and their supposing that, instantly, was the kingdom of God to shine forth.
12 Akĩmeera atĩrĩ: “Mũndũ ũmwe warĩ igweta nĩathiire bũrũri wa kũraya agatuuo mũthamaki, na thuutha wa ũguo acooke.
He said, therefore—A certain man, of noble birth, went into a country far away, to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
13 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio agĩĩta ndungata ciake ikũmi, agĩcihe mina ikũmi, agĩciĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Onjorithagiai mbeeca ici nginya rĩrĩa ngacooka.’
And, calling ten servants of his own, he gave unto them ten minas, and said unto them—Do business, till I come.
14 “No andũ a bũrũri wake nĩmamũthũire, nao magĩtũma andũ mamuume thuutha makoige atĩrĩ, ‘Tũtikwenda mũndũ ũyũ atuĩke mũthamaki witũ.’
But, his citizens, hated him, and sent off an embassy after him, saying—We desire not, this, man, to be made king over us!
15 “Na rĩrĩ, rĩrĩa aacookire arĩkĩtie gũtuuo mũthamaki, agĩtũmanĩra ndungata iria aaneete mbeeca, nĩguo amenye uumithio ũrĩa cionete.
And it came to pass, when he returned, having received the kingdom, that he bade be called unto him these servants, to whom he had given the silver, that he might take note, what business they had done.
16 “Ndungata ya mbere ĩgĩũka, ĩkĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Mwathi, mina yaku nĩyumithĩtie mina ingĩ ikũmi.’
And the first came near, saying—Lord! thy mina, hath made, ten minas.
17 “Nake Mwathi wayo akĩmĩcookeria atĩrĩ, ‘Nĩwĩkĩte wega, wee ndungata yakwa njega! Na tondũ wa kwĩhokeka na ũndũ mũnini ũguo, tuĩka mũrori wa matũũra manene ikũmi.’
And he said to him—Well done! good servant. Because, in a very small thing, thou hast been, faithful, have thou authority over, ten cities.
18 “Nayo ndungata ya keerĩ ĩgĩũka, ĩkĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Mwathi, mina yaku nĩyumithĩtie mina ingĩ ithano.’
And the second came, saying—Thy mina, lord, hath made five minas.
19 “Nake mwathi wayo akĩmĩĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Tuĩka mũrori wa matũũra manene matano.’
And he said, to him also, And, thou, be over five cities.
20 “Nayo, ndungata ya gatatũ ĩgĩũka, ĩkĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Mwathi, mina yaku nĩyo ĩno; ndaamĩohire na gĩtambaya ngĩmĩhitha.
And, the other, came, saying—Lord, lo! thy mina, which I kept lying by in a napkin;
21 Nĩndagwĩtigĩrire, tondũ ũrĩ mũndũ mũũru. Nĩwoyaga kĩrĩa ũtarutĩire wĩra, na ũkagetha kĩrĩa ũtahandĩte.’
For I was afraid of thee, because, a harsh man, thou art, —Thou takest up, what thou layedst not down, and reapest, what thou sowedst not!
22 “Nake mwathi wayo akĩmĩcookeria atĩrĩ, ‘Wee ndungata ĩno njaganu! Ngũgũtuĩra ciira kũringana na ciugo ciaku. Githĩ nĩwooĩ atĩ ndĩ mũũru, na atĩ njoyaga kĩrĩa itarutĩire wĩra na ngagetha kĩrĩa itahaandĩte?
He saith to him—Out of thy mouth, do I judge thee, O wicked servant! Thou knewest that, I, a harsh man, am, —taking up, what I laid not down, and reaping, what I did not sow;
23 Wakĩagire kũiga mbeeca ciakwa bengi nĩkĩ, nĩgeetha rĩrĩa ngaacooka ndĩcioye irĩ na uumithio?’
Wherefore, then, didst thou not place my silver upon a [money-changer’s] table, and, I, when I came, with interest might have exacted it?
24 “Agĩcooka akĩĩra arĩa maarũgamĩte hau atĩrĩ, ‘Mũtunyei mina ĩyo arĩ nayo, mũmĩnengere ũrĩa ũrĩ na mina ikũmi.’
And, unto the by-standers, he said—Take, from him, the mina, and give unto him that hath, the ten minas; —
25 “Makĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Mwathi, githĩ ndarĩ na mina ikũmi!’
And they said to him, Lord! he hath ten minas; —
26 “Nake akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, ‘Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, mũndũ ũrĩa wothe ũrĩ na kĩndũ, nĩakongererwo ingĩ nyingĩ, no ũrĩa ũtarĩ na kĩndũ, o na kĩrĩa arĩ nakĩo nĩagatuunywo.
I tell you—Unto everyone that hath, shall be given, whereas, from him that hath not, even what he hath, shall be taken away.
27 No rĩrĩ, andũ acio marĩ ũthũ na niĩ, o acio mateendaga nduĩke mũthamaki wao-rĩ, marehei, mũmooragĩre o haha ndĩ.’”
But, these mine enemies who desired not that I should be made king over them, bring ye here, and slay them outright before me.
28 Nake Jesũ aarĩkia kuuga ũguo, agĩthiĩ na mbere kwambata erekeire Jerusalemu.
And, having said these things, he was moving on in front, going up into Jerusalem.
29 Aakuhĩrĩria Bethifage na Bethania, o kũu Kĩrĩma-inĩ kĩa Mĩtamaiyũ, agĩtũma arutwo ake eerĩ, akĩmeera atĩrĩ,
And it came to pass, as he drew near unto Bethphage, and Bethany, unto the mount which is called the Mount of Olives, he sent off two of his disciples,
30 “Thiĩi itũũra rĩrĩa rĩrĩ mbere yanyu, na mũgĩtoonya, nĩmũkuona njaũ ya ndigiri yohetwo hau, nayo ndĩrĩ yakuua mũndũ; mĩohorei mũmĩrehe.
saying—Go your way unto the opposite village, in which, as ye are entering, ye shall find a colt, bound, whereon, no man, hath, ever sat, —and, having loosed him, bring him.
31 Mũndũ angĩmũũria atĩrĩ, ‘Nĩ kĩĩ kĩratũma mũmĩohore?’ Mwĩrei atĩrĩ, ‘Mwathani nĩabatarĩtio nĩyo.’”
And, if any one question you—Wherefore are ye loosing him? thus, shall ye say—His Lord, hath, need.
32 Nao acio maatũmirwo magĩthiĩ, magĩkora maũndũ matariĩ o ta ũrĩa Jesũ aamerĩte.
And they who were sent, departing, found as he had said to them.
33 Na rĩrĩa moohoraga njaũ ĩyo, eene yo makĩmooria atĩrĩ, “Mũroohora njaũ ĩyo nĩkĩ?”
And, as they were loosing the colt, his lords said unto them—Why are ye loosing the colt?
34 Nao magĩcookia atĩrĩ, “Mwathani nĩabatarĩtio nĩyo.”
And, they, said—His Lord, hath, need.
35 Makĩmĩtwarĩra Jesũ, magĩcooka makĩigĩrĩra nguo ciao igũrũ rĩa njaũ ĩyo, na magĩikarĩria Jesũ igũrũ rĩayo.
And they brought him unto Jesus; and, throwing their mantles over the colt, they seated Jesus thereon.
36 Na rĩrĩa aathiiaga, andũ makĩara nguo ciao njĩra-inĩ.
And, as he moved along, they were spreading their own mantles in the way.
37 Rĩrĩa aakinyire hakuhĩ na njĩra ĩrĩa ĩikũrũkagĩra Kĩrĩma-inĩ kĩa Mĩtamaiyũ, gĩkundi gĩothe kĩa arutwo gĩkĩambĩrĩria kũgooca Ngai, andũ makĩanĩrĩra makenete nĩ ũndũ wa ciama iria ciothe moonete makiuga atĩrĩ:
And, when he was drawing near, already, unto the descent of the Mount of Olives, one-and-all the throng of the disciples began joyfully to be praising God with a loud voice, concerning all the mighty works which they had seen;
38 “Kũrathimwo-rĩ, nĩ mũthamaki ũrĩa ũgũũka na rĩĩtwa rĩa Mwathani!” “Thayũ ũrogĩa kũu igũrũ, naguo riiri ũgĩe kũu igũrũ mũno!”
saying—Blessed is he that cometh… The king! In the name of the Lord! In heaven, peace! And glory in the highest!
39 Afarisai amwe maarĩ gĩkundi-inĩ kĩu makĩĩra Jesũ atĩrĩ, “Mũrutani, kaania arutwo aku!”
And, certain of the Pharisees from the multitude, said unto him—Teacher! rebuke thy disciples.
40 Nowe akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, “Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, aya maangĩkira, mahiga no maanĩrĩre.”
And he answered and said—I tell you—If, these, shall hold their peace, the stones, will cry out.
41 Na rĩrĩa aakuhĩrĩirie itũũra rĩu inene rĩa Jerusalemu, aarĩona akĩrĩra nĩ ũndũ warĩo,
And, when he drew near, beholding the city, he wept over it, saying—
42 akiuga atĩrĩ, “Naarĩ korwo ũmũthĩ wee mwene nĩũkũmenyete kĩrĩa kĩngĩkũrehere thayũ! No rĩu, ũhoro ũcio nĩũhithĩtwo maitho maku.
If thou hadst got to know, in this day, even thou, the conditions of peace… But, now, are they hid from thine eyes:
43 Hĩndĩ nĩĩgakinya rĩrĩa thũ ciaku igaaka ihumbu cia tĩĩri ikũrigiicĩrie, na ikũhingĩrĩrie na mĩena yothe.
Because days will have come upon thee, that thine enemies will throw around a rampart against thee, and enclose thee; and hem thee in from every side, —
44 Nĩigagũtungumania thĩ, wee hamwe na ciana ciaku iria irĩ kũu thĩinĩ waku. Matigatiga ihiga o na rĩmwe rĩrĩ igũrũ wa rĩrĩa rĩngĩ, tondũ ndũigana gũkũũrana ihinda rĩrĩa Ngai ookire gũgũceerera.”
And will level thee with the ground, and thy children within thee, and will not leave, stone on stone, within thee: because thou didst not get to know the season of thy visitation.
45 Agĩcooka agĩtoonya hekarũ thĩinĩ, na akĩambĩrĩria kũrutũrũra andũ arĩa meendagĩria indo kuo.
And, entering into the temple, he began to be casting out them who were selling;
46 Akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Nĩ kwandĩkĩtwo atĩrĩ, ‘Nyũmba yakwa ĩgeetagwo nyũmba ya kũhooyagĩrwo’ no inyuĩ mũmĩtuĩte ‘ngurunga ya atunyani.’”
saying unto them—It is written, And, my house, shall be, a house of prayer; but, ye, have made, it, a den of robbers.
47 Na o mũthenya, nĩarutanaga kũu thĩinĩ wa hekarũ. No athĩnjĩri-Ngai arĩa anene, na arutani a watho, na atongoria arĩa maarĩ gatagatĩ ka andũ nĩmageragia kũmũũraga.
And he was teaching day by day in the temple; but, the High-priests and the Scribes, also the chiefs of the people, were seeking to destroy him, —
48 No matingĩonire njĩra ya kũmũũraga, tondũ andũ othe nĩmaikaraga mathikĩrĩirie ciugo ciake.
and could not find what they might do, for, the people, one and all, were hanging upon him, as they hearkened.
