< Luka 17 >

1 Nake Jesũ akĩĩra arutwo ake atĩrĩ, “Maũndũ marĩa matũmaga andũ mehie no nginya moke, no mũndũ ũrĩa ũtũmaga maũndũ macio moke kaĩ arĩ na haaro-ĩ!
Then Jesus said to the disciples, “It is inevitable that stumbling blocks come, but woe to the one through whom they come!
2 Nĩ kaba mũndũ ta ũcio ohererwo ihiga rĩa gĩthĩi ngingo aikio iria-inĩ, gũkĩra atũme kamwe ga twana tũtũ tũnini keehie.
It would be better for him if a heavy millstone were hung around his neck and he were cast into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to stumble.
Watch yourselves. If yoʋr brother sins against yoʋ, rebuke him. If he repents, forgive him.
4 Angĩkwĩhĩria maita mũgwanja o mũthenya ũmwe, na maita macio mothe mũgwanja agooka harĩ we agakwĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Nĩndahera,’ nĩ wega ũmũrekere.”
Even if he sins against yoʋ seven times in a day, and seven times in that day he comes back and says, ‘I repent,’ yoʋ must forgive him.”
5 Nao atũmwo makĩĩra Mwathani atĩrĩ, “Tuongerere wĩtĩkio!”
The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”
6 Nake akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, “Mũngĩkorwo na wĩtĩkio o mũnini ta kabegũ ga karatarĩ-rĩ, mwera mũkũyũ ũyũ atĩrĩ, ‘Kũũrũka, ũkehaande iria-inĩ,’ naguo no ũmwathĩkĩre.
The Lord said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.
“Suppose one of you has a servant plowing the field or tending the sheep. As soon as he comes in from the field would you say, ‘Come and recline at the table’?
8 Githĩ to amĩĩrire atĩrĩ, ‘Thondekera irio cia hwaĩ-inĩ, na wĩhaarĩrie ũnjikarie ngĩrĩa na ngĩnyua; na thuutha ũcio no ũrĩe na ũnyue’?
Instead, would yoʋ not say to him, ‘Prepare my supper. Put on yoʋr apron and serve me while I eat and drink; after that yoʋ may eat and drink’?
9 Ningĩ no agĩcookerie ndungata ĩyo ngaatho nĩ gwĩka ũrĩa ĩĩrĩtwo ĩĩke?
Do yoʋ thank that servant because he did what he was commanded? I think not.
10 Ũguo noguo o na inyuĩ, rĩrĩa mweka ũrĩa wothe mwĩrĩtwo mwĩke, ugagai atĩrĩ, ‘Tũrĩ o ndungata itarĩ kĩene; twaruta o wĩra witũ tu.’”
So you also, when you have done everything you were commanded to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done what we were obligated to do.’”
Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border of Samaria and Galilee.
As he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers who stood at a distance.
13 makĩanĩrĩra na mũgambo mũnene, makiuga atĩrĩ, “Jesũ, Mwathi witũ, tũiguĩre tha!”
They lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
14 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa aamoonire, akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Thiĩi mũkeyonanie kũrĩ athĩnjĩri-Ngai.” Na rĩrĩa maathiiaga-rĩ, magĩtherio.
When he saw them, he said to them, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” As they went along, they were cleansed.
15 Rĩrĩa ũmwe wao onire nĩahonio, akĩhũndũka akĩgooca Ngai na mũgambo mũnene,
When one of them saw that he had been healed, he came back, glorifying God with a loud voice.
16 Akĩĩgũithia thĩ magũrũ-inĩ ma Jesũ, akĩmũcookeria ngaatho. Mũndũ ũcio aarĩ Mũsamaria.
He then fell on his face at Jesus' feet, giving him thanks. (Now he was a Samaritan.)
17 Jesũ akĩũria atĩrĩ, “Githĩ othe ikũmi matiatherio? Acio angĩ kenda marĩ ha?
In response Jesus said, “Were not ten cleansed? Where then are the other nine?
18 Gũtirĩ o na ũmwe ũngĩcooka kũhe Ngai ũgooci tiga o mũgeni ũyũ?”
Were there none found who came back to give glory to God except this foreigner?”
19 Agĩcooka akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Ũkĩra wĩthiĩre; gwĩtĩkia gwaku nĩkuo gwatũma ũhone.”
Then he said to the man, “Rise and go on yoʋr way; yoʋr faith has healed yoʋ.”
At one point Jesus was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was coming, so he answered them, “The kingdom of God does not come with observable signs,
21 kana andũ moige atĩrĩ, ‘Ũrĩ haha,’ kana ‘Ũrĩ harĩa,’ tondũ ũthamaki wa Ngai ũrĩ thĩinĩ wanyu.”
nor will people say, ‘Behold, here it is!’ or, ‘Behold, there it is!’ For behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”
22 Agĩcooka akĩĩra arutwo ake atĩrĩ, “Ihinda nĩrĩroka rĩrĩa mũkeriragĩria kuona mũthenya ũmwe wa Mũrũ wa Mũndũ, no mũtikawona.
Then he said to the disciples, “The days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it.
23 Andũ nĩmakamwĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Arĩ harĩa!’ kana ‘Arĩ haha!’ Mũtikanatengʼere mũmarũmĩrĩre.
People will say to you, ‘Behold, here he is!’ or, ‘Behold, there he is!’ Do not go off with them or run after them,
24 O ta ũrĩa rũheni rũhenũkaga rũkamũrĩka matu kuuma mũthia ũmwe nginya ũrĩa ũngĩ, no taguo gũũka kwa Mũrũ wa Mũndũ gũkahaana mũthenya ũcio wake.
for just as lightning flashes from one part of the sky and shines to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day.
25 No rĩrĩ, no nginya ambe one mathĩĩna maingĩ na aregwo nĩ andũ a rũciaro rũrũ.
But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
26 “O ta ũrĩa gwatariĩ matukũ-inĩ ma Nuhu, noguo gũkaahaana matukũ-inĩ ma Mũrũ wa Mũndũ.
Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man.
27 Andũ acio maakorirwo makĩrĩa, na makĩnyua, na makĩhikania, na makĩhikio, o nginya mũthenya ũrĩa Nuhu aatoonyire thabina. Hĩndĩ ĩyo kĩguũ kĩnene gĩgĩũka gĩkĩmaniina othe.
People were eating and drinking, marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah went into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
28 “Ningĩ ũguo noguo gwatariĩ matukũ-inĩ ma Loti. Andũ acio maakorirwo makĩrĩa na makĩnyua, na makĩgũra na makĩendia, na makĩhaanda na magĩaka nyũmba.
It will be the same as it was in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building.
29 No mũthenya ũrĩa Loti oimire Sodomu, mwaki na ũbiriti ikiura ta mbura kuuma igũrũ, ikĩmaniina othe.
But on the day when Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.
30 “Ũguo noguo gũkahaana mũthenya ũrĩa Mũrũ wa Mũndũ akaaguũranĩrio.
So will it be on the day when the Son of Man is revealed.
31 Mũthenya ũcio, mũndũ o wothe ũgaakorwo arĩ nyũmba igũrũ, na indo ciake irĩ nyũmba thĩinĩ, ndakanaharũrũke gũcigĩĩra. Ningĩ o na mũndũ ũrĩa ũgaakorwo arĩ mũgũnda ndakanahũndũke agĩĩre kĩndũ.
On that day, he who is on the housetop and whose goods are in the house must not come down to get them. Likewise, he who is in the field must not turn back.
32 Ta ririkanai mũtumia wa Loti!
Remember Lot's wife.
33 Mũndũ ũrĩa wothe ũgeragia gũtũũria muoyo wake nĩakoorwo nĩguo, nake ũrĩa wothe ũũragwo nĩ muoyo wake nĩakaũtũũria.
Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will preserve it.
34 Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, ũtukũ ũcio andũ eerĩ nĩmagakorwo makomete ũrĩrĩ ũmwe, nake ũmwe wao akuuo, na ũrĩa ũngĩ atigwo.
I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other will be left.
35 Atumia eerĩ nĩmagakorwo magĩthĩa hamwe; ũmwe wao akuuo, na ũrĩa ũngĩ atigwo.
Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other will be left.”
36 (Ningĩ arũme eerĩ nĩmagakorwo makĩruta wĩra hamwe, ũmwe wao akuuo, ũrĩa ũngĩ atigwo.)”
37 Nao makĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Kũu nĩ kũ Mwathani?” Nake akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, “Nderi ciũnganaga harĩa hothe harĩ kĩimba.”
Then the disciples said to him in response, “Where, Lord?” He said to them, “Where the body is, there the vultures will be gathered together.”
