< Luka 10 >
Now after these things the Lord also appointed seventy other men, and sent them by twos before his face into every city and place where he himself was going to come.
2 Akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Magetha nĩ maingĩ, no aruti a wĩra nĩ anini. Nĩ ũndũ ũcio, thaithai Mwathani wa magetha atũme aruti wĩra mathiĩ magetha-inĩ make.
Therefore he said to them, The harvest indeed is plentiful, but the workmen are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth workmen into his harvest.
3 Thiĩi! Ndamũtũma ta tũgondu gatagatĩ-inĩ ka njũũi.
Go ye. Behold, I send you forth as lambs in the midst of wolves.
4 Mũtigakuue kĩbeti, kana mũhuko, o na kana iraatũ; na mũtikageithie mũndũ o na ũrĩkũ njĩra-inĩ.
Carry no bag, no pouch, no shoes, and greet no man on the way.
5 “Nyũmba o yothe ĩrĩa mũrĩtoonyaga-rĩ, ambagai kuuga atĩrĩ, ‘Thayũ ũrogĩa nyũmba ĩno.’
And into whatever house ye enter, first say, Peace to this house.
6 Na kũngĩkorwo nĩ kũrĩ mũndũ mwendi thayũ kuo, thayũ ũcio wanyu nĩũrĩikaraga nake; na kũngĩkorwo gũtirĩ, thayũ ũcio wanyu nĩ ũrĩmũcookagĩrĩra.
And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him, and if not, it will return to you.
7 Ikarai nyũmba ĩyo, mũrĩĩage na mũkanyua kĩrĩa gĩothe marĩmũheaga, nĩgũkorwo mũruti wĩra nĩagĩrĩirwo kũheagwo mũcaara wake. Mutikoimage nyũmba ĩmwe mũgathiĩ ĩrĩa ĩngĩ.
And remain in the same house eating and drinking from their things, for the workman is worthy of his wage. Do not depart from house to house.
8 “Mũngĩgatoonya itũũra mũnyiitwo ũgeni-rĩ, rĩĩagai o kĩrĩa mũngĩheo.
And into whatever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat the things that are set before you.
And heal the weak in it, and say to them, The kingdom of God has come near to you.
10 No mũngĩgatoonya itũũra o rĩothe mwage kũnyiitwo ũgeni-rĩ, umagarai, mũthiĩ njĩra-inĩ ciarĩo muuge atĩrĩ,
But into whatever city ye enter, and they will not receive you, after departing into the thoroughfares of it, say,
11 ‘Nĩtwaribariba o na rũkũngũ rwa itũũra rĩanyu rũrĩa rwĩnyiitĩrĩire magũrũ maitũ, rũmũcookerere. No rĩrĩ, menyai wega ũũ: ũthamaki wa Ngai nĩũmũkuhĩrĩirie.’
Even the dust that clings on us from your city, we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know ye this, that the kingdom of God has come near to you.
12 Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, Sodomu nĩgũgakirĩrĩrio mũthenya ũcio gũkĩra itũũra rĩu.
I say to you, that it will be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.
13 “Inyuĩ andũ a Korazini, kaĩ mũrĩ na haaro-ĩ! O na inyuĩ andũ a Bethisaida, kaĩ mũrĩ na haaro-ĩ! Tondũ korwo ciama iria mwaringĩirwo nĩcio ciaringĩirwo andũ a Turo na Sidoni, mangĩeririre tene mehumbe nguo cia makũnia na mehurĩrie mũhu.
Woe to thee, Chorazin! Woe to thee, Bethsaida! Because if the mighty works were done in Tyre and Sidon, which were done in you, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
14 No andũ a Turo na Sidoni nĩmagakorwo marĩ murũ mũthenya ũcio wa ciira gũkĩra inyuĩ.
But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment, than for you.
15 Na inyuĩ, andũ a Kaperinaumu, mũũĩ atĩ nĩmũgatũũgĩrio nginya matu-inĩ? Aca, mũkaaharũrũkio mũkinye kũrĩa kũriku mũno. (Hadēs )
And thou, Capernaum, which was exalted to the sky, will be thrust down to Hades. (Hadēs )
16 “Mũndũ ũrĩa ũmũthikagĩrĩria inyuĩ nĩ niĩ athikagĩrĩria, na ũrĩa ũmũregaga nĩ niĩ aregaga, na ũrĩa ũrĩndegaga nĩ ũrĩa wandũmire arĩĩregaga.”
He who hears you hears me, and he who rejects you rejects me, and he who rejects me rejects him who sent me.
And the seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are made subject to us in thy name.
18 Nake akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, “Nĩndĩronire Shaitani akĩgũa kuuma igũrũ ta rũheni.
And he said to them, I beheld Satan fallen as lightning from the sky.
Behold, I give you authority to tread over serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and, no, nothing will harm you.
20 No rĩrĩ, mũtigakene tondũ ngoma nĩimwathĩkagĩra, no kenagai tondũ marĩĩtwa manyu nĩmandĩkĩtwo kũũrĩa Igũrũ.”
Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are made subject to you, but rejoice because your names are written in the heavens.
21 Na ihinda o rĩu, Jesũ akĩiyũrwo nĩ gĩkeno kĩa Roho Mũtheru, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Baba, wee Mwathani wa igũrũ na thĩ, nĩngũkũgaatha tondũ nĩũhithĩte andũ arĩa oogĩ na marĩ na ũmenyo maũndũ maya, no ũkamaguũrĩria tũkenge. Baba, wĩkĩte ũguo tondũ nĩguo wendi waku.
In the same hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit, and said, I thank thee, Father, Lord of the heaven and the earth, that thou hid these things from the wise and astute, and revealed them to the childlike. Yea, Father, because it became pleasing this way in thy sight.
22 “Nĩnengeretwo maũndũ mothe nĩ Baba. Gũtirĩ mũndũ ũũĩ Mũriũ nũũ, tiga Ithe witũ, na gũtirĩ mũndũ ũũĩ Ithe witũ nũũ o tiga Mũriũ na arĩa othe Mũriũ endaga kũguũrĩria.”
And having turned to the disciples, he said, All things were delivered to me by my Father. And no man knows who the Son is, except the Father, and who the Father is, except the Son, and he to whomever the Son wants to reveal him.
23 Agĩcooka akĩhũgũkĩra arutwo ake, akĩmeera marĩ oiki atĩrĩ, “Kũrathimwo nĩ maitho marĩa marona kĩrĩa mũrona.
And having turning toward the disciples in private, he said, Blessed are the eyes that see what ye see.
24 Nĩgũkorwo ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, anabii aingĩ na athamaki nĩmerirĩirie kuona maũndũ marĩa mũrona, no matiamonire na nĩmerirĩire kũigua maũndũ marĩa mũraigua, no matiamaiguire.”
For I say to you, that many prophets and kings desired to see what ye see, and did not see, and to hear what ye hear, and did not hear.
And behold, a certain lawyer stood up testing him, and saying, Teacher, having done what, would I inherit eternal life? (aiōnios )
26 Nake Jesũ akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Kwandĩkĩtwo atĩa Watho-inĩ? Wee-rĩ, kaĩ ũthomaga atĩa?”
And he said to him, What is written in the law? How read thou?
And having answered, he said, Thou shall love the Lord thy God from thy whole heart, and from thy whole soul, and from thy whole strength, and from thy whole mind, and thy neighbor as thyself.
28 Jesũ akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Nĩ wacookia wega; ĩkaga ũguo, na nĩũgatũũra muoyo.”
And he said to him, Thou answered correctly. Do this and thou will live.
29 No mũndũ ũcio nĩeendaga gwĩtua mwega, nĩ ũndũ ũcio akĩũria Jesũ atĩrĩ, “Nake mũndũ wa itũũra nũũ?”
But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, And who is my neighbor?
30 Nake Jesũ akĩmũcookeria, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Nĩ kwarĩ na mũndũ ũmwe waikũrũkaga oimĩte Jerusalemu arorete Jeriko, na akĩnyiitwo nĩ atunyani. Nao makĩmũruta nguo, makĩmũhũũra, magĩcooka magĩthiĩ, makĩmũtiga arĩ hakuhĩ gũkua.
And having replied, Jesus said, A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho. And he encountered bandits, who also, having stripped him and having beat him, departed having left him being half dead.
31 Mũthĩnjĩri-Ngai ũmwe nĩagereire njĩra ĩyo, na rĩrĩa onire mũndũ ũcio, akĩhĩtũkĩra mũkĩra-inĩ ũrĩa ũngĩ wa njĩra.
And by coincidence a certain priest was going down on that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32 Ũguo noguo Mũlawii eekire, hĩndĩ ĩrĩa aakinyire hau, o nake, amuona akĩhĩtũkĩra mũkĩra ũũrĩa ũngĩ wa njĩra.
And likewise also a Levite who happened upon the place, having come, and having looked, passed by on the other side.
33 No rĩrĩ, Mũsamaria ũmwe warĩ rũgendo-inĩ nĩakinyire harĩa mũndũ ũcio aarĩ, amuona akĩmũiguĩra tha.
But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to him, and when he saw him, felt compassion.
And having come, he wrapped up his wounds, pouring on olive oil and wine. And having set him on his own beast, he brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 Kwarooka gũkĩa Mũsamaria ũcio akĩruta dinari igĩrĩ, agĩcinengera mwene nyũmba ĩyo ya ageni, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Mũmenyagĩrĩre, na ndacooka nĩngagũcookeria kĩrĩa kĩngĩ ũgaakorwo ũhũthĩrĩte.’
And on the morrow when departing, after taking out two denarii, he gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, Take care of him, and whatever thou might spend more, I will repay thee at my return.
36 “Ũgwĩciiria nĩ mũndũ ũrĩkũ wa acio atatũ watuĩkire mũndũ wa itũũra harĩ mũndũ ũcio wanyiitĩtwo nĩ atunyani?”
Which therefore, of these three, appears to thee to have become neighbor to the man who fell among the bandits?
37 Nake mũrutani ũcio wa watho akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Nĩ ũrĩa wamũiguĩrĩire tha.” Jesũ akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Thiĩ ũgeeke o ta ũguo.”
And he said, He who did mercy with him. Therefore Jesus said to him, Go, and do thou likewise.
And it came to pass as they went, he also entered into a certain village, and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
39 Maritha aarĩ na mwarĩ wa nyina wetagwo Mariamu, nake aikarĩte magũrũ-inĩ ma Mwathani athikĩrĩirie ũrĩa oigaga.
And she was sister to this woman called Mary, who also, having sat at Jesus' feet, was listening to his word.
40 Nowe Maritha nĩarĩ na mĩhangʼo nĩ ũndũ wa maũndũ marĩa mothe magĩrĩire kũhaarĩrio. Agĩũka harĩ Jesũ, akĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Mwathani, kaĩ ũtarona ũrĩa mwarĩ wa maitũ andekereirie wĩra? Mwĩre oke andeithie!”
But Martha was encumbered about much serving. And having stood near, she said, Lord, do thou not care that my sister left me behind to serve alone? Speak to her therefore that she may help me.
41 Nake Mwathani akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Maritha, Maritha, nĩũtangĩkĩte, na ũgethĩĩnia na maũndũ maingĩ,
But having answered, Jesus said to her, Martha, Martha, thou are anxious and troubled about many things,
42 no nĩ harĩ ũndũ ũmwe tu ũbataranĩtie. Mariamu nĩethuurĩire ũndũ ũrĩa mwega makĩria, naguo ũndũ ũcio ndangĩtunywo.”
but one thing is necessary, and Mary has chosen the good part, which will not be taken away from her.
