< Joshua 1 >
1 Na rĩrĩ, thuutha wa gĩkuũ kĩa Musa ndungata ya Ngai, Jehova akĩĩra Joshua mũrũ wa Nuni, ũrĩa watungatagĩra Musa, atĩrĩ:
And it came to pass, after the death of Moses the servant of Yahweh, —that Yahweh spake unto Joshua son of Nun, the attendant of Moses, saying:
2 “Musa ndungata yakwa nĩakuĩte. Na rĩrĩ, wee na andũ aya othe, mwĩhaarĩriei kũringa Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani mũtoonye bũrũri ũrĩa ngũmũhe, o ũcio ngũhe andũ a Isiraeli.
Moses my servant, is dead, —Now, therefore, arise, pass over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, into the land which I am giving unto them—unto the sons of Israel.
3 Na rĩrĩ, handũ o hothe harĩa mũgaakinya na makinya manyu nĩngamũhe, o ta ũrĩa ndeerire Musa.
Every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread, unto you, have I given it, —as I spake unto Moses.
4 Bũrũri wanyu ũgaatambũrũka kuuma werũ-inĩ o nginya Lebanoni, na kuuma rũũĩ rũrĩa rũnene rwa Farati, nĩguo bũrũri wothe wa Ahiti, o nginya Iria-inĩ rĩrĩa Inene rĩa mwena wa ithũĩro.
From the desert and this Lebanon, even unto the great river—the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea, toward the going in of the sun, shall be your boundary.
5 Gũtikagĩa mũndũ ũkaahota gũgwĩtiiria matukũ mothe ma muoyo waku. O ta ũrĩa ndaarĩ na Musa, ũguo noguo ngũkorwo hamwe nawe; ndigagũtiganĩria kana ngũtirike.
No man shall stand before thee, all the days of thy life, —as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee, I will not fail thee, neither will I forsake thee.
6 “Gĩa na hinya na ũũmĩrĩrie, nĩgũkorwo nĩwe ũgũtongoria andũ aya mathiĩ makagae bũrũri ũrĩa ndehĩtire na mwĩhĩtwa kũrĩ maithe mao atĩ nĩngamahe.
Be firm and bold, —for, thou, shalt cause this people to inherit the land which I sware unto their fathers, —to give unto them.
Only be very firm and bold, taking heed to do according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded thee, do not turn aside therefrom, to the right hand or to the left, —that thou mayest prosper, whithersoever thou goest.
8 Ciugo cia Ibuku rĩĩrĩ rĩa Watho itikanatige kwario nĩ kanua gaku; no wĩcũũranagie ũhoro warĩo mũthenya na ũtukũ, nĩgeetha ũmenyagĩrĩre gwĩka maũndũ marĩa mothe maandĩkĩtwo thĩinĩ warĩo. Hĩndĩ ĩyo nĩ ũkaagaacĩra, na ũgĩe na ũhootani.
This scroll of the law must not cease out of thy mouth, but thou must talk to thyself therein, day and night, that thou mayest take heed to do according to all that is written therein, —for, then, shalt thou make thy way prosperous, and, then, shalt thou have good success.
9 Githĩ ti-niĩ ngwathĩte? Wee gĩa o na hinya na ũũmĩrĩrie. Ndũkanetigĩre o na kana; ũũrwo nĩ hinya, nĩgũkorwo Jehova Ngai waku arĩ hamwe nawe kũrĩa guothe ũrĩthiiaga.”
Have I not commanded thee, Be firm and bold, do not start nor be dismayed, —for, with thee, is Yahweh thy God, whithersoever thou goest?
10 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Joshua agĩatha anene arĩa maaroraga andũ atĩrĩ:
So then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying:
11 “Tuĩkanĩriai kambĩ-inĩ mũkĩĩraga andũ atĩrĩ, ‘Haarĩriai rĩĩgu mũige, nĩ ũndũ mĩthenya ĩtatũ kuuma ũmũthĩ yathira nĩguo mũkaaringa Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani nĩgeetha mũthiĩ mũtoonye na mwĩgwatĩre bũrũri ũrĩa Jehova Ngai wanyu ekũmũhe ũtuĩke wanyu.’”
Pass ye through the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying: Make ready for yourselves, provisions, —for, in three days more, are ye to pass over this Jordan, to go in and possess the land which Yahweh your God is giving you, to possess.
12 Ningĩ Joshua akĩarĩria andũ a mũhĩrĩga wa Rubeni, na wa Gadi, na nuthu ya mũhĩrĩga wa Manase, akĩmeera atĩrĩ,
And, unto the Reubenites, and unto the Gadites, and unto the half tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying:
13 “Ririkanai watho ũrĩa mwaheirwo nĩ Musa ndungata ya Jehova, akiuga atĩrĩ, ‘Jehova Ngai wanyu nĩamũheete ũhurũko na nĩamũheete bũrũri ũyũ.’
Remember the word which Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded you, saying, —Yahweh your God, is granting you rest, and doth give you this land.
14 Atumia anyu, na ciana cianyu, na ũhiũ wanyu no maikare bũrũri ũrĩa mwaheirwo nĩ Musa mwena wa irathĩro rĩa Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani, no arũme othe anyu othe arĩa njamba cia ita meeohete indo cia mbaara, no nginya maringe mũrĩmo ũũrĩa ũngĩ matongoretie ariũ a ithe wanyu. No nginya mũgateithie ariũ a ithe wanyu.
Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses hath given you over the Jordan, —but, ye, shall pass over, armed, before your brethren, —all ye mighty men of valour, and shall help them;
15 nginya rĩrĩa Jehova akaamahe ũhurũko o ta ũrĩa amũheete inyuĩ, na nginya rĩrĩa o nao makegwatĩra bũrũri ũrĩa Jehova Ngai wanyu ekũmahe. Thuutha ũcio, no mũcooke mũgaikare bũrũri wanyu inyuĩ ene, ũrĩa mwaheirwo nĩ Musa ndungata ya Jehova mwena wa irathĩro wa Jorodani, ũcio ũrorete mwena ũrĩa riũa rĩrathagĩra.”
until that Yahweh shall grant rest unto your brethren, as unto you, so shall, they also, possess the land which Yahweh your God giveth them, —then shall ye return unto the land of your possession, and possess it, which Moses the servant of Yahweh hath given you over the Jordan, towards the rising of the sun.
16 Hĩndĩ ĩyo magĩcookeria Joshua, makĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Nĩtũgwĩka ũrĩa wothe ũgũtwatha na nĩ tũgũthiĩ kũrĩa guothe ũgũtũtũma.
Then responded they to Joshua, saying, —All that thou hast commanded us, will we do, and, whithersoever thou shalt send us, will we go:
17 O ta ũrĩa twaathĩkĩire Musa maũndũ-inĩ mothe-rĩ, ũguo noguo tũrĩgwathĩkagĩra. No rĩrĩ, Jehova Ngai waku arokorwo hamwe nawe o ta ũrĩa aarĩ hamwe na Musa.
As in every thing we hearkened unto Moses, so, will we hearken unto thee, —only let Yahweh thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.
18 Mũndũ wothe ũkaaremera uuge waku na arege gwathĩkĩra maũndũ mothe marĩa ũkaamatha, no nginya mũndũ ũcio akooragwo. No rĩrĩ, gĩa na hinya na ũũmĩrĩrie!”
Any man who shall rebel against thy bidding, and not hearken unto thy words in all that thou shalt command him, shall be put to death, —only be firm and bold.
