Joshua 21
1 Na rĩrĩ, atongoria a nyũmba cia Alawii magĩthiĩ kũrĩ Eleazaru ũrĩa mũthĩnjĩri-Ngai, na kũrĩ Joshua mũrũ wa Nuni, o na kũrĩ atongoria a nyũmba cia mĩhĩrĩga ĩrĩa ĩngĩ ya Isiraeli
The leaders of the tribe of Levi approached Eleazar the priest, Joshua the son of Nun, and the leaders of the Israelite tribes.
2 kũu Shilo bũrũri wa Kaanani makĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Jehova nĩathanire na kanua ka Musa atĩ tũkaaheo matũũra ma gũtũũra, marĩ na kũndũ gwa kũrĩithagĩria mahiũ maitũ.”
They spoke to them at Shiloh in Canaan, saying, “The Lord gave instructions through Moses to give us towns to live in, and pastures for our flocks.”
3 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio, andũ a Isiraeli makĩhe Alawii matũũra o hamwe na kũndũ gwa kũrĩithio kuuma magai-inĩ mao o ta ũrĩa Jehova aathanĩte:
So, following the Lord's instructions, the Israelites gave towns and pastures to the Levites from their own allocations.
4 Na rĩrĩ, mĩtĩ yacuukwo-rĩ, mũtĩ wa mbere wagwĩrĩire mbarĩ ya Akohathu, kũringana na ũrĩa mbarĩ ciao ciatariĩ. Alawii arĩa maarĩ a rũciaro rwa Harũni ũrĩa mũthĩnjĩri-Ngai maaheirwo matũũra ikũmi na matatũ kuuma mũhĩrĩga ya Juda, na wa Simeoni, na wa Benjamini.
The lot was cast for the families of the Kothaites. These Levites, descendants of Aaron, were allotted thirteen towns from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin.
5 Acio angĩ a rũciaro rwa Kohathu maaheirwo matũũra ikũmi kuuma mbarĩ ya mũhĩrĩga wa Efiraimu, na wa Dani, na nuthu ya mũhĩrĩga wa Manase.
The remaining families of the descendants of Kothah were allotted ten towns from the tribes of Ephraim, Dan, and the half-tribe of Manasseh.
6 Njiaro cia Gerishoni ciaheirwo matũũra ikũmi na matatũ kuuma mbarĩ cia mũhĩrĩga wa Isakaru, na wa Asheri, na wa Nafitali, na nuthu ya mũhĩrĩga wa Manase kũu Bashani.
The families of the descendants of Gershon were allotted thirteen towns from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and the half-tribe of Manasseh living in Bashan.
7 Njiaro cia Merari, kũringana na ũrĩa mbarĩ ciao ciatariĩ, ciaheirwo matũũra ikũmi na meerĩ kuuma mũhĩrĩga wa Rubeni, na wa Gadi, na wa Zebuluni.
The families of the descendants of Merari were allotted twelve towns from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.
8 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio andũ a Isiraeli magĩkĩhe Alawii matũũra macio na kũndũ kũrĩa kwamathiũrũrũkĩirie kũrĩ ũrĩithio wao o ta ũrĩa Jehova aathanĩte na kanua ka Musa.
So the Israelites gave the Levites by lot these towns and pastures, as the Lord had instructed through Moses.
9 Kuuma mũhĩrĩga wa Juda na wa Simeoni andũ a Isiraeli makĩheana matũũra maya magwetetwo na marĩĩtwa
They gave from the tribe of Judah and the tribe of Simeon the following towns, specifically named,
10 (matũũra maya maaheirwo njiaro cia Harũni arĩa maarĩ a mbarĩ cia Akohathu cia mũhĩrĩga wa Alawii, nĩ ũndũ nĩo magwĩrĩirwo nĩ mũtĩ wa mbere):
to the families of the Kothaites, descendants of Aaron, of the tribe of Levi, since the first lot fell to them:
11 Magĩkĩmahe Kiriathu-Ariba (na no kuo Hebironi), hamwe na kũndũ kũrĩa gwathiũrũrũkĩirie gwa kũrĩithĩrio mahiũ kũu bũrũri ũrĩa ũrĩ irĩma wa Juda. (Ariba nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Anaki).
Kiriath-arba (or Hebron), in the hill country of Judah, together with the pastures around it. (Arba was the forefather of Anak.)
12 No rĩrĩ, mĩgũnda na tũtũũra tũrĩa twathiũrũrũkĩirie itũũra rĩu inene nĩmaheete Kalebu mũrũ wa Jefune gũtuĩke igai rĩake.
But the more distant fields from the town and the villages had been given to Caleb son of Jephunneh to own.
13 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio njiaro cia Harũni ũrĩa mũthĩnjĩri-Ngai magĩcihe Hebironi (itũũra inene rĩa kũũrĩrwo nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũraganĩte), na ikĩheo Libina,
They gave to the descendants of Aaron the priest the following towns and their pastures: Hebron (a sanctuary town for those who accidentally committed murder), Libnah,
14 na Jatiri, na Eshitemoa,
Jattir, Eshtemoa,
15 na Holoni, na Debiri,
Holon, Debir,
16 na Aini, na Juta, na Bethi-Shemeshu, o hamwe na ithaka ciamo cia ũrĩithio; matũũra mothe maarĩ kenda kuuma kũrĩ mĩhĩrĩga ĩyo ĩĩrĩ.
Ain, Juttah, and Beth-shemesh—nine towns from these two tribes.
17 Na kuuma mũhĩrĩga wa Benjamini makĩheo Gibeoni, na Geba,
From the tribe of Benjamin the following four towns and their pastures: Gibeon, Geba,
18 na Anathothu, na Alimoni o hamwe na ithaka ciamo cia ũrĩithio; mothe maarĩ matũũra mana.
Anathoth, and Almon.
19 Matũũra mothe ma athĩnjĩri-Ngai, arĩa maarĩ njiaro cia Harũni, maarĩ ikũmi na matatũ o hamwe na ithaka ciamo cia ũrĩithio.
So in total thirteen towns and their pastures were given to the priests, the descendants of Aaron.
20 Nacio mbarĩ icio ingĩ ciatigarĩte cia Kohathu cia mũhĩrĩga wa Alawii ciaheirwo matũũra kuuma kũrĩ mũhĩrĩga wa Efiraimu ta ũũ:
As for the remaining families of the children of Kothah from the tribe of Levi, they were given by lot four towns and their pastures from the tribe of Ephraim:
21 Kũu bũrũri ũrĩa ũrĩ irĩma wa Efiraimu maaheirwo Shekemu (itũũra inene rĩa kũũrĩrwo nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũraganĩte), na Gezeri,
Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim (a sanctuary town for those who accidentally committed murder), Gezer,
22 na Kibizaimu, na Bethi-Horoni hamwe na ithaka ciamo cia ũrĩithio; mothe maarĩ matũũra mana.
Kibzaim, and Beth-horon.
23 Ningĩ kuuma mũhĩrĩga wa Dani makĩheo Eliteke, na Gibethoni,
From the tribe of Dan, the following four towns and their pastures: Eltekeh, Gibbethon,
24 na Aijaloni, na Gathi-Rimoni hamwe na ithaka ciamo cia ũrĩithio; mothe maarĩ matũũra mana.
Aijalon, and Gath-rimmon.
25 Kuuma nuthu ya mũhĩrĩga wa Manase makĩheo Taanaka, na Gathi-Rimoni hamwe na ithaka ciamo cia ũrĩithio; mothe maarĩ matũũra meerĩ.
From the half-tribe of Manasseh the following two towns and their pastures: Taanach and Gath-rimmon.
26 Matũũra macio mothe ikũmi hamwe na ithaka ciamo cia ũrĩithio nĩmo maheirwo mbarĩ icio ingĩ cia Kohathu.
So in total ten towns and their pastures were given to remaining families of the descendants of Kothah.
27 Na rĩrĩ, mbarĩ cia Agerishoni cia mũhĩrĩga wa Alawii ciaheirwo ta ũũ: kuuma nuthu ya mũhĩrĩga wa Manase, nĩ itũũra rĩa Golani kũu Bashani (itũũra inene rĩa kũũrĩrwo nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũraganĩte), na Be-Eshitara, hamwe na ithaka ciamo cia ũrĩithio; mothe maarĩ matũũra meerĩ;
The families of the descendants of Gershon from the tribe of Levi received the following two towns and their pastures from the half-tribe of Manasseh: Golan in Bashan (a sanctuary town for those who accidentally committed murder), and Be-eshterah.
28 kuuma mũhĩrĩga wa Isakaru, ikĩheo Kishioni, na Deberathu,
From the tribe of Issachar the following four towns and their pastures: Kishion, Daberath,
29 na Jaramuthu, na Eni-Ganimu, hamwe na ithaka ciamo cia ũrĩithio; mothe maarĩ matũũra mana;
Jarmuth, and En-gannim.
30 kuuma mũhĩrĩga wa Asheri, ikĩheo Mishali, na Abidoni
From the tribe of Asher the following four towns and their pastures: Mishal, Abdon,
31 na Helikathu, na Rehobu hamwe na ithaka ciamo cia ũrĩithio; mothe maarĩ matũũra mana;
Helkath, and Rehob.
32 kuuma mũhĩrĩga wa Nafitali, ikĩheo Kedeshi kũu Galili (itũũra inene rĩa kũũrĩrwo nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũraganĩte), na Hamothu-Dori na Karitani, hamwe na ithaka ciamo cia ũrĩithio; mothe maarĩ matũũra matatũ.
From the tribe of Naphtali the following three towns and their pastures: Kedesh in Galilee (a sanctuary town for those who accidentally committed murder), Hammoth-dor, and Kartan.
33 Matũũra mothe ma mbarĩ cia Agerishoni maarĩ ikũmi na matatũ hamwe na ithaka ciamo cia ũrĩithio.
So in total thirteen towns and their pastures were allotted to the families of Gershon.
34 Nacio mbarĩ cia Amerari (nao nĩo Alawii arĩa angĩ maatigaire) makĩheo: kuuma mũhĩrĩga wa Zebuluni, nĩ itũũra rĩa Jokineamu, na Karita,
The families of the descendants of Merari, those remaining from the tribe of Levi, received the following four towns and their pastures from the tribe of Zebulun: Jokneam, Kartah,
35 na Dimuna, na Nahalali, hamwe na ithaka ciamo cia ũrĩithio; mothe maarĩ matũũra mana;
Dimnah, and Nahalal.
36 kuuma mũhĩrĩga wa Rubeni, ikĩheo Bezeri, na Jahazu,
From the tribe of Reuben the following four towns and their pastures: Bezer, Jahaz,
37 na Kedemothu, na Mefaathu, hamwe na ithaka ciamo cia ũrĩithio; mothe maarĩ matũũra mana;
Kedemoth, and Mephaath.
38 kuuma mũhĩrĩga wa Gadi, ikĩheo Ramothu kũu Gileadi (itũũra inene rĩa kũũrĩrwo nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũraganĩte), na Mahanaimu,
From the tribe of Gad the following four towns and their pastures: Ramoth in Gilead (a sanctuary town for those who accidentally committed murder), Mahanaim,
39 na Heshiboni, na Jazeri, hamwe na ithaka ciamo cia ũrĩithio; mothe maarĩ matũũra mana.
Heshbon, and Jazer.
40 Matũũra mothe marĩa maaheirwo mbarĩ cia Amerari, nao nĩo Alawii arĩa maatigaire, maarĩ ikũmi na meerĩ.
So in total twelve towns were allotted to the families of Merari, those remaining from the tribe of Levi.
41 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio matũũra ma Alawii thĩinĩ wa bũrũri ũrĩa wegwatĩirwo nĩ andũ a Isiraeli maarĩ mĩrongo ĩna na manana marĩ mothe, hamwe na ithaka ciamo cia ũrĩithio.
The Levites received a total of forty-eight towns and pastures within the land of the Israelites.
42 O itũũra rĩarĩ na ũrĩithio ũrĩa warĩthiũrũrũkĩirie; ũguo nĩguo matũũra macio mothe maatariĩ.
Each of these towns had pastures around them.
43 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Jehova akĩhe Isiraeli ũhurũko mĩena yothe, o ta ũrĩa eerĩte maithe mao na mwĩhĩtwa. Maarĩkia kwĩgwatĩra bũrũri ũcio ũgĩtuĩka wao, magĩtũũra kuo.
And so the Lord gave to the Israelites all the land he had promised their ancestors. They took possession of it and settled there.
44 Nake Jehova akĩmahe ũhurũko na mĩena yothe o ta ũrĩa eerĩte maithe mao na mwĩhĩtwa. Gũtirĩ thũ o na ĩmwe yao yahotire kũmeetiiria, nĩgũkorwo Jehova nĩaciheanĩte moko-inĩ mao.
The Lord gave them peace on every side as he had promised their ancestors. Not a single one of their enemies could stand against them, for the Lord had handed their enemies over to them to defeat.
45 Gũtirĩ kĩrĩkanĩro o na kĩmwe kĩa maũndũ marĩa mega Jehova aameerĩire gĩtaahingirio; ciĩranĩro icio ciothe nĩciahingirio.
Not a single one of the good things the Lord promised Israel had failed; everything had come true.
