< Jona 2 >
1 Na rĩrĩ, Jona arĩ kũu nda ya thamaki ĩyo nene mũno akĩhooya Jehova Ngai wake.
Then Jonah prayed to Yahweh, his God, out of the fish’s belly.
2 Akiuga atĩrĩ: “Ndakaĩire Jehova ndĩ mĩnyamaro-inĩ, nake akĩnjĩtĩka. Ngĩhooya ũteithio ndĩ o kũu mbĩrĩra-inĩ kũrĩa kũriku, nawe ũkĩigua gũkaya gwakwa. (Sheol )
He said, “I called because of my affliction to Yahweh. He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried. You heard my voice. (Sheol )
3 Wee wathinĩkanirie nginya kũrĩa kũriku, o gatagatĩ ka iria rĩrĩa inene, naguo mũiyũro wa maaĩ ũgĩĩthiũrũrũkĩria; makũmbĩ maku mothe na ndiihũ cia maaĩ ikĩĩhubanĩria.
For you threw me into the depths, in the heart of the seas. The flood was all around me. All your waves and your billows passed over me.
4 Ngiuga atĩrĩ, ‘Ndĩ mũingate, ngeherio maitho-inĩ maku; no rĩrĩ, nĩngerorera hekarũ yaku theru hĩndĩ ĩngĩ.’
I said, ‘I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.’
5 Maaĩ macio maandigiicĩirie makenda kũnjũraga, nakuo kũu kũriku gũgaathiũrũrũkĩria; riya rĩa iria-inĩ rĩeohereire mũtwe wakwa.
The waters surrounded me, even to the soul. The deep was around me. The weeds were wrapped around my head.
6 Ngĩrikĩra o nginya itina-inĩ cia irĩma; thĩ ya kũu rungu ĩkĩĩhingĩrĩria nginya tene. No Wee Jehova, Ngai wakwa, nĩwarutire muoyo wakwa kuuma irima rĩu.
I went down to the bottoms of the mountains. The earth barred me in forever; yet you have brought my life up from the pit, Yahweh my God.
7 “Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa muoyo wakwa wathiraga, nĩndakũririkanire Wee Jehova, namo mahooya makwa magĩkinya o harĩwe, o thĩinĩ wa hekarũ yaku theru.
“When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Yahweh. My prayer came in to you, into your holy temple.
8 “Andũ arĩa mahooyaga mĩhianano ya tũhũ, nĩmoragĩrwo nĩ ũtugi ũrĩa ũngĩkorwo ũrĩ wao.
Those who regard vain idols forsake their own mercy.
9 No niĩ-rĩ, ndĩrĩkũrutagĩra igongona ngĩinaga rwĩmbo rwa gũcookia ngaatho. Nĩngahingia mĩĩhĩtwa yakwa ĩrĩa niĩ ndanehĩta. Ũhonokio uumaga kũrĩ Jehova.”
But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving. I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation belongs to Yahweh.”
10 Nake Jehova agĩatha thamaki ĩyo nene, nayo ĩgĩtahĩka Jona thĩ nyũmũ.
Then Yahweh spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah on the dry land.
