< Johana 7 >

1 Thuutha ũcio, Jesũ nĩaceerangire Galili, nĩ ũndũ ndendaga gũthiĩ Judea tondũ Ayahudi akuo nĩmamũcaragia mamũũrage.
After these things, Jesus walked in Galilee, for He didn’t want to walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill Him.
2 No hĩndĩ ĩrĩa Gĩathĩ gĩa Ithũnũ kĩa Ayahudi gĩakuhĩrĩirie-rĩ,
Now the Jews’ Feast of Tabernacles was near.
3 ariũ a nyina na Jesũ makĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Nĩwagĩrĩirwo uume gũkũ ũthiĩ Judea, nĩguo arutwo aku mone ciama iria ũringaga.
Therefore His brothers told Him, “Leave here and go to Judea, so that Your disciples will see the works that You are doing, too.
4 Gũtirĩ mũndũ wendaga kũmenyeka nĩ andũ ũhithaga ũrĩa areeka. Na tondũ nĩũreeka maũndũ maya-rĩ, wĩonanie kũrĩ kĩrĩndĩ.”
Nobody does anything in secret while he seeks to be known openly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world.”
5 Nĩgũkorwo o na ariũ a nyina matiamwĩtĩkĩtie.
For even His brothers didn’t believe in Him.
6 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio, Jesũ akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Ihinda rĩakwa rĩrĩa rĩagĩrĩire rĩtirĩ rĩrakinya; no harĩ inyuĩ ihinda o rĩothe nĩrĩagĩrĩire.
Then Jesus told them, “My time hasn’t yet come, but your time is always right.
7 Andũ a gũkũ thĩ matingĩmũthũũra, no niĩ nĩmathũire tondũ nĩnyumbũraga atĩ ũrĩa mekaga nĩ ũũru.
The world can’t hate you, but it hates me because I testify that its works are evil.
8 Inyuĩ thiĩi Gĩathĩ-inĩ. Niĩ ndikwamba kwambata Gĩathĩ-inĩ kĩu, nĩgũkorwo ihinda rĩakwa rĩrĩa rĩagĩrĩru rĩtirĩ rĩrakinya.”
Go up to this feast yourselves. I’m not going up to this feast, yet, for my time hasn’t yet fully come.”
9 Na aarĩkia kuuga ũguo, agĩikara kũu Galili.
Having said these things to them, He stayed in Galilee.
10 No rĩrĩ, thuutha wa ariũ a nyina gũthiĩ Gĩathĩ-inĩ kĩu, o nake agĩcooka agĩthiĩ, no ndaathiire akĩmenyekaga, no aathiire na hitho.
When His brothers had gone up to the feast, however, Jesus also went up, not publicly, but in secret.
11 Na rĩrĩ, kũu Gĩathĩ-inĩ-rĩ, Ayahudi nĩmamũcaragia, makĩũranagia atĩrĩ, “Mũndũ ũcio arĩ ha?”
The Jews were looking for Him at the feast, and saying, “Where is He?”
12 Kũu mũingĩ-inĩ guothe andũ nĩmaragia na mĩheehũ ũhoro wake. Amwe makoiga atĩrĩ, “Mũndũ ũcio nĩ mũndũ mwega.” Nao arĩa angĩ makoiga atĩrĩ, “Aca, mũndũ ũcio nĩaheenagia andũ.”
There was much complaining among the people about Him. Some said, “He is good,” but others said, “No, He deceives the people.”
13 No gũtirĩ mũndũ ũngĩaririe ũhoro wake akĩiguagwo nĩ ũndũ wa gwĩtigĩra Ayahudi.
No one spoke openly of Him for fear of the Jews.
14 Gĩathĩ gĩakinya gatagatĩ-rĩ, Jesũ akĩambata agĩthiĩ nja-inĩ cia hekarũ, akĩambĩrĩria kũrutana.
About the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and began to teach.
15 Nao Ayahudi makĩgega, makĩũrania atĩrĩ, “Mũndũ ũyũ aamenyeire maũndũ maya kũ, na ndathomete?”
The Jews marveled, saying, “How does this man know letters, having never been educated?”
16 Nake Jesũ akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, “Ũrutani ũrĩa ndutanaga ti wakwa niĩ mwene. Uumaga kũrĩ ũrĩa wandũmire.
Jesus answered, “My teaching isn’t mine, but His who sent me.
17 Mũndũ o wothe angĩenda gwĩka wendi wa Ngai, ũcio nĩarĩĩmenyaga kana ũrutani wakwa uumaga kũrĩ Ngai, kana njaragia ũhoro wakwa mwene.
Anyone who wants to do His will shall know if the teaching is from God or if I speak on my own.
18 Mũndũ ũrĩa waragia ũhoro wake we mwene eekaga ũguo nĩgeetha egoocithie we mwene, no ũrĩa ũrutaga wĩra nĩgeetha agoocithie ũrĩa ũmũtũmĩte nĩ mũndũ wa ma; gũtirĩ ũndũ wa maheeni ũmũkoniĩ.
The one who speaks on his own seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him.
19 Githĩ Musa ndaamũheire watho? No gũtirĩ o na ũmwe wanyu ũmenyagĩrĩra watho. Mũrageria kũnjũraga nĩkĩ?”
Didn’t Moses give you the Law, yet none of you keeps the Law? Why are you trying to kill me?”
20 Naguo mũingĩ wa andũ ũkĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Wee ũrĩ na ndaimono. Nũũ ũrageria gũkũũraga?”
The people answered, “You have a demon. Who is trying to kill You?”
21 Nake Jesũ akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Ndaaringire kĩama kĩmwe, na inyuĩ inyuothe mũkĩgega.
Jesus answered, “I did one work, and you all marvel.
22 No rĩrĩ, tondũ Musa nĩamũheire ũhoro wa kũrua (o na gũtuĩka ũhoro ũcio ndwoimire kũrĩ Musa, no woimĩte kũrĩ maithe manyu ma tene-rĩ), inyuĩ nĩ mũruithagia mwana mũthenya wa Thabatũ.
Moses gave you circumcision (not that it’s from Moses, but from the forefathers), and you circumcise a boy on the Sabbath.
23 Rĩu angĩkorwo mwana no aruithio mũthenya wa Thabatũ nĩgeetha watho wa Musa ndũgathaahio-rĩ, mũrakĩndakarĩra nĩkĩ nĩkũhonia mũndũ mũthenya wa Thabatũ?
If a boy gets circumcised on the Sabbath, so that the Law of Moses should not be broken, are you angry with me because I made a man completely well on the Sabbath?
24 Tigai gũtuanagĩra ciira na ũrĩa mũndũ atariĩ, tuanagĩrai ciira na kĩhooto.”
Don’t judge by appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”
25 Tondũ ũcio andũ amwe a kũu Jerusalemu makĩambĩrĩria kũũrania atĩrĩ, “Githĩ ũyũ tiwe mũndũ ũrĩa marageria kũũraga?
Some of the people of Jerusalem said, “Isn’t this the man they are trying to kill?
26 Na rĩu araaria atekwĩhitha, na matirĩ ũndũ maramwĩra. Kaĩ anene mamenyete kũna atĩ ũyũ nĩwe Kristũ?
Look! He is speaking boldly, and they say nothing to Him. The rulers haven’t really concluded that this is the Christ, have they?
27 No ithuĩ nĩtũũĩ kũrĩa mũndũ ũyũ oimĩte; rĩrĩa Kristũ agooka, gũtirĩ mũndũ ũkaamenya kũrĩa agaakorwo oimĩte.”
Still, we know where this man is from, but when the Christ comes, no one will know where He is from.”
28 Tondũ ũcio Jesũ, o akĩrutanaga kũu hekarũ-inĩ, akĩanĩrĩra, akiuga atĩrĩ; “Ĩĩ nĩguo, nĩmũnjũũĩ, na mũkamenya kũrĩa nyumĩte. Ndiũkĩte gũkũ nĩ ũndũ wakwa niĩ mwene, no ũrĩa wandũmire nĩ wa ma. Inyuĩ mũtimũũĩ,
Then Jesus cried out, as He taught in the temple, “You know me, and you know where I’m from. I haven’t come of my own accord, but He who sent me is true, who you don’t know.
29 no niĩ nĩndĩmũũĩ, tondũ nyumĩte kũrĩ we, na nĩwe wandũmire.”
I know Him, because I am from Him, and He sent me.”
30 Maigua ũguo makĩgeria kũmũnyiita, no gũtirĩ o na ũmwe wamũhutirie, tondũ ihinda rĩake rĩtiarĩ ikinyu.
Because of this, they were seeking to seize Him, but no one laid hands on Him, because His time had not yet come.
31 O na kũrĩ o ũguo, andũ aingĩ makĩmwĩtĩkia. Makiuga atĩrĩ, “Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa Kristũ agooka-rĩ, nĩakaringa ciama nyingĩ gũkĩra mũndũ ũyũ?”
Many of the people believed in Him, saying, “When the Christ comes, will He do more signs than this man has done?”
32 Afarisai makĩigua andũ makĩheehana maũndũ ta macio mamũkoniĩ. Nao athĩnjĩri-Ngai arĩa anene na Afarisai magĩtũma thigari cia hekarũ ikamũnyiite.
The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things about Jesus, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to seize Him.
33 Nake Jesũ akiuga atĩrĩ, “Niĩ ngũkorwo na inyuĩ o ihinda inini, njooke thiĩ kũrĩ ũrĩa wandũmire.
Then Jesus told them, “I will be with you a little while longer, and then I am going to Him who sent me.
34 Inyuĩ mũkaanjaria, no mũtikanyona; na kũrĩa ngaakorwo, mũtikahota gũkinya.”
You will look for me, and not find me, and where I am, you can’t come.”
35 Ayahudi makĩĩrana atĩrĩ, “Mũndũ ũyũ nĩ kũ arenda gũthiĩ, kũu tũtangĩhota kũmuona? Hihi egũthiĩ kũrĩa andũ aitũ matũũraga mahurunjũkĩte gatagatĩ ka Ayunani, akarute Ayunani ũhoro?
Then the Jews said among themselves, “Where does He intend to go that we won’t be able to find Him? He doesn’t intend to go to the dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks, does He?
36 Nĩ atĩa ekwendaga kuuga, rĩrĩa oigire atĩ, ‘Mũkaanjaria no mũtikanyona’ na ‘kũrĩa ngaakorwo mũtikahota gũkinya’?”
What does He mean by saying, ‘You will look for me, and not find me, and where I am, you can’t come’?”
On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and declared loudly, “If anyone is thirsty, let that person come to me and drink.
38 Ũrĩa wothe ũnjĩtĩkĩtie, thĩinĩ wake nĩkũriumaga njũũĩ cia maaĩ marĩ muoyo, o ta ũrĩa Maandĩko moigĩte.”
Rivers of living water will flow from within whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said.”
39 Akĩaria ũguo aaragia ũhoro wa Roho, ũrĩa arĩa maamwĩtĩkĩtie makaheo thuutha-inĩ. Amu hĩndĩ ĩyo Roho ndaaheanĩtwo, nĩgũkorwo Jesũ ndaagoocithĩtio.
He said this about the Spirit, who those believing in Him would receive. The Holy Spirit wasn’t yet given, because Jesus wasn’t yet glorified.
40 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa andũ maiguire ciugo ciake, amwe makiuga atĩrĩ, “Ti-itherũ mũndũ ũyũ nĩ we Mũnabii ũrĩa.”
When they heard these words, many in the crowd were saying, “This is really the prophet.”
41 Arĩa angĩ makiuga atĩrĩ, “Ũyũ nĩwe Kristũ.” Nao angĩ makĩũria atĩrĩ, “Kwahoteka atĩa Kristũ oime Galili?
Others were saying, “This is the Christ,” but some were saying, “Surely the Christ isn’t going to come from Galilee, is He?
42 Githĩ Maandĩko matiugĩte atĩ Kristũ akoima rũciaro-inĩ rwa Daudi, na oime Bethilehemu itũũra rĩrĩa Daudi aatũũraga?”
Hasn’t the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the town of Bethlehem, where David was?”
43 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio gũkĩgĩa na nyamũkano gatagatĩ-inĩ ka andũ acio nĩ ũndũ wa Jesũ.
So there was a division among the crowd because of Jesus.
44 Amwe nĩmendaga kũmũnyiita, no gũtirĩ o na ũmwe wamũhutirie.
Some of them wanted to seize Him, but no one laid hands on Him.
45 Marigĩrĩrio-inĩ arangĩri a hekarũ magĩcooka kũrĩ athĩnjĩri-Ngai arĩa anene na Afarisai, nao makĩmooria atĩrĩ, “Mwaga kũmũrehe nĩkĩ?”
When the officers went back to the chief priests and Pharisees, they asked them, “Why didn’t you bring Him in?”
46 Arangĩri acio magĩcookia atĩrĩ, “Gũtirĩ mũndũ o na ũmwe ũrĩ waria ta ũrĩa mũndũ ũcio aragia.”
The officers answered, “No man ever spoke like this man!”
47 Nao Afarisai makĩmooria atĩrĩ, “Mũroiga atĩ o na inyuĩ nĩamũheenetie?
Then the Pharisees answered, “You haven’t been deceived, too, have you?
48 Nĩ kũrĩ mũnene o na ũmwe kana Mũfarisai ũmwĩtĩkĩtie?
Have any of the rulers or Pharisees believed in Him?
49 Aca! No gĩkundi gĩkĩ kĩa andũ matooĩ watho-rĩ, nĩkĩnyiite nĩ kĩrumi.”
But this accursed crowd doesn’t know the Law.”
50 Nikodemo, ũrĩa wathiĩte kũrĩ Jesũ mbere ĩyo na aarĩ ũmwe wa gĩkundi kĩao, akĩũria atĩrĩ,
Nicodemus (who came to Jesus before, being one of them) asked them,
51 “Watho witũ nĩũtuagĩra mũndũ ciira ataambĩte gũthikĩrĩrio nĩguo akamenyeka ũrĩa ekĩte?”
“Does our Law permit us to judge a man before hearing him and finding out what he is doing?”
52 Nao makĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “O nawe kaĩ uumĩte Galili? Tuĩria ũhoro, na nĩũkũmenya atĩ mũnabii ndangiuma Galili.”
They answered him, “You aren’t from Galilee, too, are you? Search and you will see that no prophet comes out of Galilee.”
53 (O mũndũ akĩinũka gwake mũciĩ.
Then everyone went home,
