< Johana 6 >

After these things Jesus went away to the other side of the sea of Galilee, which is [the sea] of Tiberias.
2 nakĩo kĩrĩndĩ kĩnene kĩa andũ gĩkĩmũrũmĩrĩra tondũ nĩkĩoneete ciama iria aaringĩire andũ arĩa maarĩ arũaru.
And a great multitude followed him, because they beheld the signs which he did on them that were sick.
3 Nake Jesũ akĩambata kĩrĩma-inĩ, agĩikara thĩ marĩ hamwe na arutwo ake.
And Jesus went up into the mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.
4 Nakĩo Gĩathĩ gĩa Bathaka ya Ayahudi nĩgĩakuhĩrĩirie.
Now the passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand.
5 Rĩrĩa Jesũ aarorire akĩona kĩrĩndĩ kĩnene gĩgĩũka kũrĩ we, akĩũria Filipu atĩrĩ, “Tũkũgũra mĩgate kũ andũ aya marĩe?”
Jesus therefore lifting up his eyes, and seeing that a great multitude cometh unto him, saith unto Philip, Whence are we to buy bread, that these may eat?
6 Oririe ũguo nĩguo amũgerie, nĩgũkorwo we nĩooĩ ũrĩa egwĩka.
And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.
7 Nake Filipu akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Mũcara wa mĩeri ĩnana ndũngĩgũra mĩgate ya kũigana nĩguo o mũndũ arũme kenyũ!”
Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one may take a little.
8 Nake mũrutwo ũngĩ wake wetagwo Anderea, mũrũ wa nyina na Simoni Petero, akiuga atĩrĩ,
One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him,
There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two fishes: but what are these among so many?
10 Nake Jesũ akiuga atĩrĩ, “Ĩraai andũ maikare thĩ.” Hau maarĩ haarĩ na nyeki nyingĩ, nao arũme magĩikara thĩ, na maarĩ ta arũme ngiri ithano.
Jesus said, Make the people sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
11 Jesũ agĩcooka akĩoya mĩgate ĩyo, agĩcookia ngaatho na akĩgaĩra arĩa maikarĩte thĩ kũringana na mũigana ũrĩa o mũndũ angĩendire. Agĩcooka agĩĩka o ũguo na thamaki.
Jesus therefore took the loaves; and having given thanks, he distributed to them that were set down; likewise also of the fishes as much as they would.
12 Rĩrĩa othe maarĩire na makĩhũũna, akĩĩra arutwo ake atĩrĩ, “Ũnganiai cienyũ iria ciatigara. Mũtikareke kĩndũ o na kĩrĩkũ kĩũrĩre.”
And when they were filled, he saith unto his disciples, Gather up the broken pieces which remain over, that nothing be lost.
13 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio magĩciũngania, makĩiyũria ikabũ ikũmi na igĩrĩ na icunjĩ cia mĩgate ĩrĩa ĩtano ya cairi, iria ciatigirio nĩ andũ acio maarĩkia kũrĩa.
So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which remained over unto them that had eaten.
14 Thuutha wa andũ kuona ciama iria Jesũ aaringĩte, makĩambĩrĩria kuuga atĩrĩ, “Ti-itherũ ũyũ nĩwe mũnabii ũrĩa ũgooka gũkũ thĩ.”
When therefore the people saw the sign which he did, they said, This is of a truth the prophet that cometh into the world.
15 Nake Jesũ akĩmenya atĩ nĩmendaga mamũtue mũthamaki wao na hinya, nĩ ũndũ ũcio akĩmeherera o rĩngĩ, akĩambata kĩrĩma-inĩ arĩ wiki.
Jesus therefore perceiving that they were about to come and take him by force, to make him king, withdrew again into the mountain himself alone.
16 Rĩrĩa gwakinyire hwaĩ-inĩ arutwo ake magĩikũrũka nginya iria-inĩ,
And when evening came, his disciples went down unto the sea;
17 magĩtoonya marikabu, makĩringa iria marorete Kaperinaumu. Hĩndĩ ĩyo kwarĩ nduma, na Jesũ ndaathiĩte kũrĩ o.
and they entered into a boat, and were going over the sea unto Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them.
And the sea was rising by reason of a great wind that blew.
19 Na hĩndĩ ĩrĩa maatwarithĩtie marikabu ta kilomita ithano kana ithathatũ, makĩona Jesũ agĩũka kũrĩ marikabu-inĩ agereire maaĩ igũrũ; nao makĩmaka.
When therefore they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they behold Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the boat: and they were afraid.
20 Nowe akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Nĩ niĩ; tigai gwĩtigĩra.”
But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.
21 Magĩtĩkĩra atoonye thĩinĩ wa marikabu, na kahinda o kau marikabu ĩgĩkinya hũgũrũrũ-inĩ cia kũrĩa maathiiaga.
They were willing therefore to receive him into the boat: and straightway the boat was at the land whither they were going.
22 Mũthenya ũcio ũngĩ, kĩrĩndĩ kĩrĩa kĩarĩ mũrĩmo ũũrĩa ũngĩ wa iria gĩkĩmenya atĩ no marikabu ĩmwe yarĩ ho, na atĩ Jesũ ndaamĩingĩrĩte hamwe na arutwo ake no maathiĩte marĩ oiki.
On the morrow the multitude which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save one, and that Jesus entered not with his disciples into the boat, but [that] his disciples went away alone
23 No ningĩ gũgĩũka marikabu ingĩ ciumĩte Tiberia ikĩrũgama hakuhĩ na harĩa andũ maarĩĩrĩire mĩgate thuutha wa Mwathani gũcookeria Ngai ngaatho.
(howbeit there came boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks):
24 Na rĩrĩa kĩrĩndĩ kĩamenyire atĩ Jesũ kana arutwo ake gũtirĩ warĩ ho, gĩkĩingĩra marikabu icio, gĩgĩthiĩ Kaperinaumu gũcaria Jesũ.
when the multitude therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they themselves got into the boats, and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.
25 Rĩrĩa maamũkorire mũrĩmo ũũrĩa ũngĩ wa iria makĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Rabii, ũkinyire gũkũ rĩ?”
And when they found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?
26 Nake Jesũ akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, “Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ na ma, inyuĩ mũtiranjaria nĩ ũndũ wa ciama iria mũronire, no nĩ ũndũ nĩmũrarĩire mĩgate mũrahũũna.
Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw signs, but because ye ate of the loaves, and were filled.
Work not for the meat which perisheth, but for the meat which abideth unto eternal life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him the Father, [even] God, hath sealed. (aiōnios g166)
28 Magĩcooka makĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Twagĩrĩirwo nĩ gwĩka atĩa nĩgeetha tũrutage mawĩra marĩa Ngai endaga?”
They said therefore unto him, What must we do, that we may work the works of God?
29 Nake Jesũ akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, “Wĩra wa Ngai nĩ ũyũ: nĩ mwĩtĩkie ũrĩa we atũmĩte.”
Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
30 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio makĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Nĩ ciama irĩkũ ũgũtũringĩra tuone nĩguo tũgwĩtĩkie? Ũgwĩka atĩa?
They said therefore unto him, What then doest thou for a sign, that we may see, and believe thee? what workest thou?
31 Maithe maitũ ma tene maarĩĩaga mana kũu werũ-inĩ; o ta ũrĩa kwandĩkĩtwo atĩrĩ: ‘Aamaheire mĩgate kuuma igũrũ marĩe.’”
Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.
32 Nake Jesũ akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ na ma, ti Musa wamũheire mũgate kuuma igũrũ, no nĩ Baba ũmũheaga mũgate ũrĩa wa ma kuuma igũrũ.
Jesus therefore said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, It was not Moses that gave you the bread out of heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread out of heaven.
For the bread of God is that which cometh down out of heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
34 Nao makĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Mũthuuri ũyũ, kuuma rĩu tũheage mũgate ũcio.”
They said therefore unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
35 Nake Jesũ akiuga atĩrĩ, “Niĩ nĩ niĩ mũgate wa muoyo. Mũndũ ũrĩa ũũkaga kũrĩ niĩ ndakahũũta o na rĩ, na ũrĩa ũnjĩtĩkĩtie ndakanyoota o na rĩ.
Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall not hunger, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
36 No rĩrĩ, o ta ũrĩa ndĩmwĩrĩte, nĩmũnyonete, no mũtirĩ mũretĩkia.
But I said unto you, that ye have seen me, and yet believe not.
37 Arĩa othe Baba ahee nĩmarĩũkaga kũrĩ niĩ, na ũrĩa wothe ũgooka kũrĩ niĩ ndikamũingata o na rĩ.
All that which the Father giveth me shall come unto me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
38 Nĩgũkorwo ndiikũrũkĩte kuuma igũrũ njũke gwĩka wendi wakwa niĩ mwene, no njũkĩte gwĩka wendi wa ũrĩa wandũmire.
For I am come down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
And this is the will of him that sent me, that of all that which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day.
For this is the will of my Father, that every one that beholdeth the Son, and believeth on him, should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. (aiōnios g166)
41 Ayahudi maigua ũguo makĩambĩrĩria kũngʼongʼora nĩ ũndũ wake tondũ nĩoigĩte atĩrĩ, “Niĩ nĩ niĩ mũgate ũrĩa waikũrũkire kuuma igũrũ.”
The Jews therefore murmured concerning him, because he said, I am the bread which came down out of heaven.
42 Makiuga atĩrĩ, “Githĩ ũyũ ti Jesũ mũrũ wa Jusufu, ũrĩa ithe na nyina tũũĩ? Rĩu angĩhota atĩa kuuga atĩ, ‘Niĩ ndaikũrũkire kuuma igũrũ’?”
And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how doth he now say, I am come down out of heaven?
43 Nake Jesũ akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Tigai kũngʼongʼora gatagatĩ-inĩ kanyu.
Jesus answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.
44 Gũtirĩ mũndũ ũngĩũka kũrĩ niĩ ataguucĩrĩirio nĩ Baba ũrĩa wandũmire, na niĩ nĩngamũriũkia mũthenya wa kũrigĩrĩria.
No man can come to me, except the Father which sent me draw him: and I will raise him up in the last day.
45 Nĩ kwandĩkĩtwo maandĩko-inĩ ma Anabii atĩrĩ, ‘Nao othe makaarutwo ũhoro nĩ Ngai.’ Nake ũrĩa wothe ũthikagĩrĩria Baba na akeeruta ũhoro kuuma kũrĩ we, nĩokaga kũrĩ niĩ.
It is written in the prophets, And they shall all be taught of God. Every one that hath heard from the Father, and hath learned, cometh unto me.
46 Gũtirĩ mũndũ ũrĩ ona Baba, tiga o ũrĩa uumĩte kũrĩ Ngai; we wiki nowe wonete Baba.
Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is from God, he hath seen the Father.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth hath eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
48 Niĩ nĩ niĩ mũgate wa muoyo.
I am the bread of life.
49 Maithe manyu ma tene maarĩĩaga mana marĩ werũ-inĩ, na no maakuire.
Your fathers did eat the manna in the wilderness, and they died.
50 No ũyũ nĩguo mũgate ũrĩa ũikũrũkĩte kuuma igũrũ, ũrĩa mũndũ angĩrĩa na ndakue.
This is the bread which cometh down out of heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
51 Niĩ nĩ niĩ mũgate ũrĩa ũrĩ muoyo ũrĩa waikũrũkire kuuma igũrũ. Mũndũ o wothe ũngĩrĩa mũgate ũyũ, nĩagatũũra tene na tene. Mũgate ũyũ nĩ mwĩrĩ wakwa ũrĩa ngũheana nĩ ũndũ wa muoyo wa andũ a gũkũ thĩ.” (aiōn g165)
I am the living bread which came down out of heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: yea and the bread which I will give is my flesh, for the life of the world. (aiōn g165)
52 Hĩndĩ ĩyo nao Ayahudi makĩambĩrĩria gũkararania mũno o ene, makoorania atĩrĩ, “Mũndũ ũyũ angĩhota atĩa gũtũhe mwĩrĩ wake tũrĩe?”
The Jews therefore strove one with another, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
Jesus therefore said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, ye have not life in yourselves.
He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. (aiōnios g166)
55 Nĩgũkorwo mwĩrĩ wakwa nĩ irio kũna, nayo thakame yakwa nĩ kĩndũ gĩa kũnyua kũna.
For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
56 Ũrĩa wothe ũrĩĩaga mwĩrĩ wakwa na akanyua thakame yakwa aikaraga thĩinĩ wakwa na niĩ ngaikara thĩinĩ wake.
He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood abideth in me, and I in him.
57 O ta ũrĩa Baba mũtũũra muoyo aandũmire na o ta ũrĩa na niĩ ndũũraga muoyo nĩ ũndũ wa Baba, noguo mũndũ ũrĩa ũndĩĩaga agaatũũra muoyo nĩ ũndũ wakwa.
As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father; so he that eateth me, he also shall live because of me.
58 Ũyũ nĩguo mũgate ũrĩa waikũrũkire kuuma igũrũ. Maithe manyu maarĩire mana na nĩmakuire, no ũrĩa ũrĩĩaga mũgate ũyũ egũtũũra tene na tene.” (aiōn g165)
This is the bread which came down out of heaven: not as the fathers did eat, and died: he that eateth this bread shall live for ever. (aiōn g165)
59 Maũndũ macio aamaaririe rĩrĩa aarutanaga thunagogi-inĩ kũu Kaperinaumu.
These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
60 Arutwo ake aingĩ maigua ũguo makiuga atĩrĩ, “Ũyũ nĩ ũrutani mũritũ mũno, nũũ ũngĩhota kũwĩtĩkĩra?”
Many therefore of his disciples, when they heard [this], said, This is a hard saying; who can hear it?
61 Jesũ amenya atĩ arutwo ake nĩmangʼongʼoraga nĩ ũndũ wa ũhoro ũcio akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Kaĩ ũhoro ũcio wamũrakaria?
But Jesus knowing in himself that his disciples murmured at this, said unto them, Doth this cause you to stumble?
62 Ĩ mũngĩkĩona Mũrũ wa Mũndũ akĩambata igũrũ kũrĩa aarĩ mbere!
[What] then if ye should behold the Son of man ascending where he was before?
63 Roho aheanaga muoyo; mwĩrĩ ndũrĩ kĩene. Ciugo iria ndamwarĩria nĩ roho na nĩcio muoyo.
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I have spoken unto you are spirit, and are life.
64 No nĩ kũrĩ amwe anyu matarĩ maretĩkia.” Nĩgũkorwo kuuma o kĩambĩrĩria Jesũ nĩooĩ arĩa matetĩkĩtie, na ũrĩa ũkaamũkunyanĩra.
But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who it was that should betray him.
65 Agĩthiĩ na mbere, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Nĩkĩo ndamwĩrire atĩ gũtirĩ mũndũ ũngĩhota gũũka kũrĩ niĩ atahotithĩtio nĩ Baba.”
And he said, For this cause have I said unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it be given unto him of the Father.
66 Kuuma hĩndĩ ĩyo, arutwo ake aingĩ makĩhũndũka, na matiacookire kũmũrũmĩrĩra.
Upon this many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
67 Jesũ akĩũria arĩa ikũmi na eerĩ atĩrĩ, “O na inyuĩ kaĩ mũrenda gũthiĩ?”
Jesus said therefore unto the twelve, Would ye also go away?
Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
And we have believed and know that thou art the Holy One of God.
70 Hĩndĩ ĩyo Jesũ akĩmacookeria akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Githĩ ti niĩ ndĩmũthuurĩte mũrĩ ikũmi na eerĩ? No ũmwe wanyu nĩ ndaimono!”
Jesus answered them, Did not I choose you the twelve, and one of you is a devil?
Now he spake of Judas [the son] of Simon Iscariot, for he it was that should betray him, [being] one of the twelve.
