< Johana 11 >

1 Na rĩrĩ, kwarĩ na mũndũ wetagwo Lazaro, nake aarĩ mũrũaru. Aarĩ wa Bethania, itũũra rĩa Mariamu na mwarĩ wa nyina Maritha.
Was now a certain [man] ailing, Lazarus of Bethany of the village of Mary and Martha the sister of her;
Was now Mary the [one] having anointed the Lord with fragrant oil and having wiped the feet of Him with the hair of her, whose brother Lazarus was sick.
3 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio aarĩ acio a nyina magĩtũmanĩra Jesũ akeerwo atĩrĩ, “Mwathani, ũrĩa wendete nĩmũrũaru.”
Sent therefore the sisters to Him saying; Lord, behold [he] whom You love was being sick.
Having heard then Jesus said; This sickness not is unto death but for the glory of God that may be glorified the Son of God through it.
5 Jesũ nĩendete Maritha na mwarĩ wa nyina, o na Lazaro.
was loving now Jesus Martha and the sister of her and Lazarus.
6 No o na thuutha wa kũigua atĩ Lazaro aarĩ mũrũaru-rĩ, aikarire kũu aarĩ mĩthenya ĩngĩ ĩĩrĩ.
When therefore He heard that he is sick, then indeed He remained in which He was [the] place two days.
7 Agĩcooka akĩĩra arutwo ake atĩrĩ, “Nĩtũcookei Judea.”
Then after this He says to the disciples; Let us go into Judea again.
8 Nao makĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “No rĩrĩ Rabii, o rĩu ica ikuhĩ Ayahudi marageragia gũkũhũũra na mahiga nyuguto, na rĩu ũrenda gũcooka kuo?”
Say to Him the disciples; Rabbi, just now were seeking You to stone the Jews, and again You are going there?
Answered (*k*) Jesus; Surely twelve hours are there in the day? If anyone shall walk in the day, not he stumbles, because the light of the world this he sees.
10 Ahĩngagwo rĩrĩa egũthiĩ ũtukũ, nĩ ũndũ ndarĩ na ũtheri.”
if however anyone shall walk in the night, he stumbles, because the light not is in him.
11 Aarĩkia kuuga ũguo, agĩcooka akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Mũrata witũ Lazaro nĩakomete; no nĩngũthiĩ kũu ngamũũkĩrie.”
These things He said and after this He says to them; Lazarus the friend of us has fallen asleep; but I go that I may awaken him.
12 Arutwo ake makĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Mwathani, akorwo nĩ gũkoma akomete-rĩ, nĩekũhona.”
Said therefore the disciples (to Him; *N(K)O*) Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will get well.
13 Jesũ aaragia ũhoro wa gĩkuũ gĩake, no arutwo ake meciiragia aaragia ũhoro wa toro wa ndũire.
Had spoken however Jesus of the death of him; they however thought that of the rest of sleep He speaks.
14 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio akĩmeera na njĩra ĩgũtaũka, atĩrĩ, “Lazaro nĩmũkuũ,
Then therefore said to them Jesus plainly; Lazarus has died.
15 no nĩ ũndũ wanyu nĩngenete nĩgũkorwo ndiraarĩ kuo, nĩgeetha mwĩtĩkie. No rĩrĩ, nĩtũthiĩi kũrĩ we.”
And I rejoice for sake of you, in order that you may believe, that not I was there; But let us go to him.
16 Nake Toma (ũrĩa wetagwo Wa-mahatha) akĩĩra arutwo arĩa angĩ atĩrĩ, “Nĩtũthiĩi o na ithuĩ, tũgakuanĩre nake.”
Said therefore Thomas who is being named Didymus to the fellow disciples; Let us go also us that we may die with Him.
17 Jesũ aakinya-rĩ, agĩkora Lazaro nĩaniinĩte mĩthenya ĩna thĩinĩ wa mbĩrĩra.
Having come therefore Jesus found him four already days having been in the tomb.
18 Na rĩrĩ, itũũra rĩa Bethania rĩtiakinyĩtie kilomita ithatũ kuuma Jerusalemu,
Was now Bethany near Jerusalem about away stadia fifteen.
19 nao Ayahudi aingĩ nĩmokĩte kũu kwa Maritha na Mariamu kũmomĩrĩria nĩ ũndũ wa gũkuĩrwo nĩ mũrũ wa nyina wao.
(and *k*) Many (now *no*) of the Jews had come unto (*N(k)O*) (concerning *k*) Martha and Mary that they may console them concerning the brother (of them. *k*)
20 Rĩrĩa Maritha aiguire atĩ Jesũ nĩarooka, akiuma, agĩthiĩ kũmũtũnga, no Mariamu agĩikara kũu mũciĩ.
Therefore Martha, when she heard that (*k*) Jesus is coming, met with Him; Mary however in the house was sitting.
21 Maritha akĩĩra Jesũ atĩrĩ, “Mwathani ũngĩraarĩ gũkũ-rĩ, mũrũ wa maitũ ndangĩrakuire.
Said then Martha to Jesus; Lord, if You had been here, not then would (be dead *N(k)O*) the brother of mine.
22 No rĩrĩ, nĩnjũũĩ atĩ o na rĩu Ngai nĩegũkũhe o kĩrĩa gĩothe ũngĩhooya.”
Nevertheless even now I know that as much as maybe You may ask God will give You God.
23 Nake Jesũ akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Mũrũ wa maitũguo nĩekũriũka.” Nake Maritha akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ,
Says to her Jesus; Will rise again the brother of you.
24 “Nĩnjũũĩ nĩakariũka hĩndĩ ya iriũkĩro mũthenya wa mũthia.”
Says to him (*no*) Martha; I know that he will rise again in the resurrection in the last day.
25 Nake Jesũ akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Niĩ nĩ niĩ kũriũka na nĩ niĩ muoyo. Nake ũrĩa wothe ũnjĩtĩkĩtie, o na aakua, nĩagatũũra muoyo;
Said to her Jesus; I myself am the resurrection and the life; the [one] believing in Me myself even if even if he shall die he will live,
26 nake ũrĩa wothe ũtũũraga muoyo na nĩanjĩtĩkĩtie, ndarĩ hĩndĩ agaakua. Wee nĩwĩtĩkĩtie ũguo?” (aiōn g165)
and everyone who is living and believing in Me myself certainly not he shall die to the age. Believe you this? (aiōn g165)
27 Nake Maritha akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Ĩĩ Mwathani, nĩnjĩtĩkĩtie atĩ wee nĩwe Kristũ, Mũrũ wa Ngai, ũrĩa wĩrĩtwo nĩagooka gũkũ thĩ.”
She says to Him; Yes Lord; I myself have believed that You yourself are the Christ the Son of God the [One] into the world coming.
28 Nake aarĩkia kuuga ũguo, agĩcooka agĩthiĩ agĩĩta mwarĩ wa nyina Mariamu keeheri-inĩ, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Mũrutani arĩ gũkũ na nĩarakũũria.”
And (these things *N(k)O*) having said she went away and she called Mary the sister of her secretly having said; The Teacher is come and He calls you.
29 Rĩrĩa Mariamu aiguire ũguo, akĩrũgama na ihenya agĩthiĩ kũrĩ we.
She (then *no*) when she heard ([she] rose up *N(k)O*) quickly and (was coming *N(k)O*) to Him.
30 Na hĩndĩ ĩyo Jesũ ndaakoretwo atoonyete itũũra, no aarĩ o harĩa Maritha aamũtũngĩte.
Not yet now had come Jesus into the village, but was (still *no*) in the place where met with Him Martha.
31 Rĩrĩa Ayahudi acio maarĩ na Mariamu kũu nyũmba makĩmũũmĩrĩria monire ũrĩa okĩra na ihenya oimĩte nja, makĩmũrũmĩrĩra, magĩĩciiria atĩ aathiiaga mbĩrĩra-inĩ akarĩrĩre ho.
The then Jews who are being with her in the house and consoling her, having seen Mary that soon she rose up and went out, followed after her, (having supposed *N(K)O*) that she is going to the tomb that she may weep there.
32 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa Mariamu aakinyire harĩa Jesũ aarĩ na akĩmuona, akĩgũa thĩ magũrũ-inĩ make, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Mwathani, ũngĩraarĩ gũkũ, mũrũ wa maitũ ndangĩrakuire.”
Therefore Mary when she came to where was (*k*) Jesus, having seen Him she fell of Him (at *N(k)O*) the feet saying to Him; Lord, if You had been here, not then would my have died brother.
33 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa Jesũ aamuonire akĩrĩra, na Ayahudi arĩa mokĩte hamwe nake o nao makĩrĩra-rĩ, agĩcaaya mũno roho-inĩ thĩinĩ na agĩtangĩka ngoro.
Jesus therefore when He saw her weeping and the having come with her Jews weeping, He was deeply moved in spirit and troubled Himself
34 Akĩmooria atĩrĩ, “Mũmũigĩte ha?” Nao makĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Mwathani, ũka wone.”
And He said; Where have you laid him? They say to Him; Lord, do come and do see.
35 Jesũ akĩrĩra.
Wept Jesus.
36 Nao Ayahudi makiuga atĩrĩ, “Onei ũrĩa aramwendete!”
Were saying therefore the Jews; Behold how He was loving him!
37 No amwe ao makĩũrania atĩrĩ, “Mũndũ ũyũ ũrahingũrire mũtumumu maitho-rĩ, ndangĩrahotire kũgiria akue?”
Some however of them said; Surely was able this [man] who having opened the eyes of the blind to have caused that also this one not may have died?
38 Nake Jesũ, o rĩngĩ acaaĩte mũno, agĩthiĩ mbĩrĩra-inĩ. Mbĩrĩra ĩyo yarĩ ngurunga na yahingĩtwo na ihiga.
Jesus therefore again being deeply moved in Himself He comes to the tomb; It was now a cave, and a stone was lying against it.
39 Nake Jesũ akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Eheriai ihiga.” No Maritha, mwarĩ wa nyina na mũndũ ũcio wakuĩte, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Mwathani, rĩu nĩmũnungu nĩ ũndũ nĩaniinĩte mĩthenya ĩna ho.”
Says Jesus; do take away the stone. Says to Him the sister of the [one] (having deceased *N(k)O*) Martha; Lord, already he stinks; four days for it is.
40 Nake Jesũ akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Githĩ ndikwĩrire atĩ wetĩkia nĩũkuona riiri wa Ngai?”
Says to her Jesus; Surely I said to you that if you shall believe you will see the glory of God?
41 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio makĩeheria ihiga. Jesũ agĩcooka agĩtiira maitho, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Baba, nĩndagũcookeria ngaatho nĩ ũndũ nĩũnjiguaga.
They took away therefore the stone (where was who having died laid. *K*) Now Jesus lifted [His] eyes upwards and said; Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.
42 Nĩnjũũĩ atĩ nĩũnjiguaga hĩndĩ ciothe, no ndoiga ũguo nĩ ũndũ wa andũ aya marũgamĩte haha, nĩguo metĩkie atĩ nĩwe wandũmire.”
I myself and knew that always Me You hear; but on account of the crowd which already standing around I said [it], that they may believe that You yourself Me sent.
43 Jesũ aarĩkia kuuga ũguo, akĩanĩrĩra na mũgambo mũnene, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Lazaro, uma!”
And these things having said in a voice loud He cried out; Lazarus, come forth.
44 Nake mũndũ ũcio warĩ mũkuũ akiuma, ohetwo na ndaamĩ cia gatani moko na magũrũ, na akarigiicĩrio taama ũthiũ. Jesũ akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Muohorei mataama macio ma mbĩrĩra, mũreke athiĩ.”
(and *k*) Came forth the [one] having died bound the feet and the hands with linen strips, and the face of him in a headcloth had bound about. Says to them Jesus: do unbind him and do allow him to go.
45 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Ayahudi aingĩ arĩa mokĩte gũceerera Mariamu, moona ũrĩa Jesũ eekire, makĩmwĩtĩkia.
Many therefore of the Jews having come to Mary and having seen (what things *NK(o)*) He did (Jesus *k*) believed in Him.
46 No amwe ao magĩthiĩ kũrĩ Afarisai, makĩmeera ũrĩa Jesũ ekĩte.
some however of them went to the Pharisees and told to them what did (*ko*) Jesus.
47 Hĩndĩ ĩyo athĩnjĩri-Ngai arĩa anene hamwe na Afarisai magĩĩta Kĩama. Makĩũrania atĩrĩ, “Nĩ kĩĩ tũreka? Onei ũrĩa mũndũ ũyũ araringa ciama nyingĩ.
Gathered therefore the chief priests and the Pharisees a council and they were saying; What are we to do? For this man many does signs!
48 Twareka athiĩ na mbere ũguo, andũ othe nĩmekũmwĩtĩkia, nao Aroma moke meyoere hekarũ iitũ, o na rũrĩrĩ rwitũ.”
If we shall let him alone Him like this, all will believe in Him, and will come the Romans and will take away of us both the place and the nation.
49 Hĩndĩ ĩyo ũmwe wao wetagwo Kaiafa, ũrĩa warĩ mũthĩnjĩri-Ngai mũnene mwaka ũcio, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Inyuĩ mũtirĩ ũndũ mũũĩ o na atĩa!
One however certain of them Caiaphas, high priest being on the year same, said to them; You yourselves not know no [thing],
50 Inyuĩ mũtiũĩ atĩ nĩ kaba mũndũ ũmwe akue nĩ ũndũ wa kĩrĩndĩ, handũ ha rũrĩrĩ ruothe rũthire.”
nor (consider you *N(k)O*) that it is profitable (for you *N(K)O*) that one man may die for the people, and not all the nation may perish.
51 Ũndũ ũcio ndaaririe etaarĩte we mwene, no aarathire ũguo arĩ ta mũthĩnjĩri-Ngai mũnene wa mwaka ũcio, atĩ Jesũ nĩagakuĩra rũrĩrĩ rwa Ayahudi,
This now from himself not he said, but high priest being on the year that he prophesied that was about (*k*) Jesus to die for the nation,
52 na to rũrĩrĩ rũu rwiki, no o na ningĩ akue nĩ ũndũ wa ciana cia Ngai iria ciahurunjũkĩte, nĩgeetha acicookanĩrĩrie atũme ituĩke kĩndũ kĩmwe.
and not for the nation only but that also the children of God those scattered He may gather together into one.
53 nĩ ũndũ ũcio kuuma mũthenya ũcio magĩciirĩra kũmũũraga.
From that [very] therefore day (they plotted *N(k)O*) that they may kill Him.
54 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Jesũ ndaacookire gũthiĩ akĩĩonithanagia kũrĩ Ayahudi. Handũ ha ũguo, akĩehera agĩthiĩ kũndũ kwarĩ hakuhĩ na werũ, gatũũra geetagwo Efiraimu, agĩikara kuo na arutwo ake.
(*no*) Therefore Jesus no longer no longer publicly was walking among the Jews, but went away from there into the region near the wilderness to Ephraim being named a city, And there And there (He stayed *N(k)O*) with the disciples (of him. *k*)
55 Na rĩrĩa Bathaka ya Ayahudi yakuhĩrĩirie, andũ aingĩ makĩambata kuuma matũũra-inĩ, magĩthiĩ Jerusalemu nĩ ũndũ wa igongona rĩa gwĩtheria Bathaka ĩtanakinya.
Was now near the Passover of the Jews, and went up many to Jerusalem out of the region before the Passover so that they may purify themselves.
56 Andũ acio magĩikara magĩcaragia Jesũ, na rĩrĩa maarũngiĩ nja ya hekarũ, makĩũrania atĩrĩ, “Mũgwĩciiria atĩa? Kaĩ hihi ategũũka Gĩathĩ-inĩ?”
They were seeking therefore Jesus and were saying among one another in the temple already standing; What does it seem to you, that certainly not He may come to the feast?
57 No athĩnjĩri-Ngai arĩa anene na Afarisai nĩmarutĩte watho atĩ mũndũ o wothe ũngĩamenyire harĩa Jesũ aarĩ, amarehere ũhoro nĩgeetha mamũnyiite.
Had given now (also *k*) the chief priests and the Pharisees (commands *N(K)O*) that if anyone shall know where He is he shall show [it], so that they may seize Him.
