< Ayubu 38 >

1 Nake Jehova agĩcookeria Ayubu ũhoro arĩ kĩhuhũkanio-inĩ, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ:
Then Yahweh responded to Job, out of a storm, and said: —
2 “Nũũ ũyũ ũrekĩra kĩrĩra gĩakwa nduma na ciugo itarĩ na ũmenyo?
Who is it that darkeneth counsel, by words, without knowledge?
3 Wĩhotore ta mũndũ mũrũme; nĩngũkũũria ciũria, nawe ũkĩnjookerie.
Gird, I pray thee—like a strong man—thy loins, that I may ask thee, and inform thou me:
4 “Warĩ kũ rĩrĩa ndaakire mũthingi wa thĩ? Njĩĩra akorwo ũrĩ na ũũgĩ wa kũmenya.
Where wast thou, when I founded the earth? Tell, if thou knowest understanding!
5 Nũũ wathimire mũigana wayo? Ti-itherũ wee nĩũũĩ! Nũũ watambũrũkirie rũrigi rwa gũthima igũrũ rĩayo?
Who set the measurements thereof, if thou knowest? Or who stretched out over it a line?
6 Mĩthingi yayo yahandirwo igũrũ rĩa kĩĩ, kana nũũ wahaandire ihiga rĩayo rĩa koine,
Whereon were the pedestals thereof sunk? Or who laid the corner stone thereof; —
7 hĩndĩ ĩrĩa njata cia rũciinĩ ciainire hamwe, na araika othe makĩanĩrĩra nĩ gũkena?
When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
8 “Nũũ wahingĩrĩirie iria na mĩrango rĩrĩa rĩatumũkire kuuma nda,
Or [who] shut in, with double doors, the sea, when, bursting out of the womb, it came forth;
9 rĩrĩa ndatuire matu nguo ciarĩo, na ngĩrĩoha nduma nene ta taama warĩo,
When I put a cloud as the garment thereof, and a thick cloud as the swaddling-band thereof;
10 rĩrĩa ndarĩkĩrĩire mĩhaka, na ngĩrĩhingĩra na mĩrango yarĩo, na ngĩĩkĩra mĩgĩĩko handũ hayo,
And brake off for it my boundary, and fixed a bar and double doors;
11 rĩrĩa ndoigire atĩrĩ, ‘Ũkinyage o haha na ndũkanahakĩre; makũmbĩ maku macio metĩĩi-rĩ, hau nĩho marĩĩkinyaga’?
And said—Hitherto, shalt thou come, and no further, —and, here, shalt thou set a limit to the majesty of thy waves?
12 “Kuuma o kĩambĩrĩria-rĩ, ũrĩ waathana atĩ rũciinĩ rũgĩe ho, kana ũkĩonereria ũtheri wa rũciinĩ harĩa ũkuumĩrĩra,
Since thy days [began] hast thou commanded the morning? or caused the dawn to know its place;
13 nĩguo ũhote kũnyiita thĩ na mĩthia yaguo, nao arĩa aaganu maribaribwo moime kuo?
That it might lay hold of the wings of the earth, and the lawless be shaken out of it?
14 Thĩ ĩhaanaga ta rĩũmba rĩhũrĩtwo mũhũũri; mũonekere wayo ũtariĩ ta mũhianĩre wa nguo.
It transformeth itself like the clay of a seal, so that things stand forth like one arrayed;
15 Andũ arĩa aaganu nĩmaimagwo ũtheri wao, na guoko kwao kũrĩa kuoetwo na igũrũ gũkoinwo.
That their light may be withdrawn from the lawless, and, the lofty arm, be shivered.
16 “Ũrĩ wathiĩ rũgendo nginya kũrĩa iria rĩtherũkagĩra, kana ũgaceera itwe-inĩ cia ndia kũrĩa kũriku mũno?
Hast thou entered as far as the springs of the sea? Or, through the secret recesses of the resounding deep, hast thou wandered?
17 Ũrĩ wonio ihingo cia gĩkuũ? Ũrĩ wona ihingo cia kĩĩruru gĩa gĩkuũ?
Have the gates of death been disclosed to thee? And, the gates of the death-shade, couldst thou descry?
18 Ũrĩ wamenya ũnene wa wariĩ wa thĩ? Njĩĩra akorwo nĩũũĩ maũndũ macio mothe.
Hast thou well considered, even the breadths of the earth? Tell—if thou knowest it all!
19 “Njĩra ya gũthiĩ kũrĩa ũtheri ũtũũraga nĩĩrĩkũ? Nayo nduma ĩikaraga kũ?
Where then is the way, the light shall abide? And, the darkness, where then is its place?
20 No ũcitware gwacio? Nĩũũĩ tũcĩra twa gũthiĩ kũrĩa itũũraga?
That thou mayest conduct it unto the bound thereof, and that thou mayest perceive the paths to its house.
21 Ti-itherũ wee nĩũũĩ, nĩgũkorwo warĩ mũciare! Wee-rĩ, nĩũtũũrĩte mĩaka mĩingĩ!
Thou knowest, for, then, hadst thou been born! And, in number, thy days are many!
22 “Ũrĩ watoonya makũmbĩ kũrĩa tharunji ĩigĩtwo, kana ũkĩona makũmbĩ kũrĩa mbura ya mbembe ĩigĩtwo,
Hast thou entered into the treasuries of the snow? And, the treasuries of the hail, couldst thou see?
23 o icio njigĩte nĩ ũndũ wa mahinda ma thĩĩna, ngaciiga nĩ ũndũ wa matukũ ma mbaara na ma kũrũa.
Which I have reserved for a time of distress, for the day of conflict and of war?
24 Njĩra ya gũthiĩ kũrĩa ũtheri ũgayanagĩrio nĩĩrĩkũ, kana ya gũthiĩ kũrĩa rũhuho rwa irathĩro rũhurunjagĩrwo gũkũ thĩ?
Where then is the way the lightning is parted? The east wind spreadeth itself abroad over the earth.
25 Nũũ wenjagĩra mbura ya kĩboboto mũtaro wa kũgerera, kana agatemera mbura ya marurumĩ njĩra,
Who hath cloven—for the torrent—a channel? Or a way for the lightning of thunders;
26 nĩguo mbura yure bũrũri ũtatũũraga mũndũ, na yure werũ kũrĩa gũtarĩ mũndũ,
To give rain over the no-man’s land, the desert, where no son of earth is;
27 nĩguo ĩhũũnagie kũu gũtiganĩrie gũgakira ihooru, na ĩtũme kũmere nyeki?
To satisfy the wild and the wilderness, to cause to spring forth the meadow of young grass?
28 Mbura nĩĩrĩ ithe? Nũũ mũciari wa matata ma ime?
Hath the rain a father? Or who hath begotten the drops of dew?
29 Tharunji yumaga nda ya ũ? Nũũ ũciaraga mbaa ĩrĩa yumaga igũrũ,
Out of whose womb, came forth the ice? And, the hoar-frost of the heavens, who hath given it birth?
30 rĩrĩa maaĩ momaga ta ihiga, rĩrĩa maaĩ marĩa marĩ igũrũ wa iria magwatana?
Like a stone, are the waters congealed, and, the face of the roaring deep, becometh firm!
31 “Wee-rĩ, wahota kuohania njata iria thaka cia Kĩrĩmĩra? Wahota kuohora mĩkanda ya njata iria ciĩtagwo Karaũ?
Canst thou bind the fetters of the Pleiades? Or, the bands of Orion, canst thou unloose?
32 Wahota kuumagaragia njata iria ciĩtagwo Mazarothu o mahinda maacio maakinya, kana wahota gũtongoria Nduba na ciana ciayo?
Canst thou bring forth the signs of the Zodiac each in its season? Or, the Bear and her Young, canst thou lead?
33 Nĩũũĩ mawatho ma igũrũ? No ũhote kũhaanda wathani wa Ngai ũrũme gũkũ thĩ?
Knowest thou, the statutes of the heavens? Or didst thou appoint his dominion over the earth?
34 “Wahota kwanĩrĩra nginya mũgambo waku ũkinye matu-inĩ nĩguo kuure wĩhumbĩre na kĩguũ kĩa maaĩ?
Canst thou lift up, to the thick cloud, thy voice, and the overflow of waters cover thee?
35 Wee nĩwe ũtũmaga heni ithiĩ na njĩra ciacio? Nĩikũrehagĩra ũhoro igakwĩra atĩ, ‘Tũrĩ haha’?
Canst thou send forth the lightnings, so that they go, and say to thee, Behold us?
36 Nũũ waheire ngoro ũũgĩ, kana akĩhe meciiria ũmenyo?
Who hath put—into cloud-forms—wisdom? Or who hath given—to the meteor—understanding?
37 Nũũ ũrĩ na ũũgĩ wa gũtara matu? Nũũ ũngĩhota kũinamia ndigithũ cia maaĩ cia igũrũ
Who can count the thin clouds, in wisdom? And, the bottles of the heavens, who can empty out;
38 rĩrĩa rũkũngũ rwatondora, nayo ndoro ĩkooma ĩkanyiitana?
When the dust is cast into a clod, and the lumps are bound together?
39 “Nĩwe ũguĩmagĩra mũrũũthi wa mũgoma wone gĩa kũrĩa, kana nĩwe ũniinagĩra mĩrũũthi ngʼaragu
Wilt thou hunt—for the Lioness—prey? Or, the craving of the Strong Lion, wilt thou satisfy;
40 rĩrĩa ĩkomereire imamo-inĩ ciayo, kana rĩrĩa ĩikaraga yoheirie nyamũ ihinga-inĩ?
When they settle down in dens, abide in covert, for lying in wait?
41 Nũũ ũheaga ihuru irio rĩrĩa tũcui twarĩo tũgũkaĩra Mũrungu tũkĩũrũũraga nĩ kwaga irio?
Who prepareth for the Raven his nourishment, —when his young ones—unto GOD—cry out, [when] they wander for lack of food?
