< Ayubu 21 >
1 Ningĩ Ayubu agĩcookia atĩrĩ:
Then Job answered, and said,
2 “Thikĩrĩriai wega ciugo ciakwa; rekei ũndũ ũyũ ũtuĩke nĩguo mũkũũhooreria naguo.
Hear diligently my speech, And let this be your consolations.
3 Ngirĩrĩriai na niĩ njarie, na ndaarĩkia kwaria-rĩ, mũgĩcooke mũũnyũrũrie.
Allow me, and I also will speak, and after I have spoken, mock on.
4 “Niĩ-rĩ, kaĩ mateta makwa meerekeirio mũndũ? Ngũkĩaga kũremwo nĩ gũkirĩrĩria nĩkĩ?
As for me, is my complaint to man? And why should I not be impatient?
5 Ta ndorai mũgege; mwĩnyiite tũnua twanyu na moko nĩ kũmaka.
Mark me, and be astonished, and lay your hand upon your mouth.
6 Ndĩciiragia ũhoro ũyũ ngamaka mũno; ngethithimũkwo nĩ mwĩrĩ, ngambĩrĩria kũinaina.
Even when I remember, I am troubled, and horror takes hold on my flesh.
7 Atĩrĩ, andũ arĩa aaganu marekagwo matũũre muoyo nĩkĩ, magakũra o na magakĩrĩrĩria kũgĩa na ũhoti?
Why do the wicked live, become old, yea, grow mighty in power?
8 Nĩmeonagĩra ciana ciao ikĩgaacĩra kũu marĩ, makoona rũciaro rwao rũkĩĩhaanda mbere ya maitho mao.
Their seed is established with them in their sight, and their offspring before their eyes.
9 Mĩciĩ yao ĩikaraga ĩgitĩirwo na ĩtarĩ na guoya; naruo rũthanju rwa Ngai rũtimahũũraga.
Their houses are safe from fear, nor is the rod of God upon them.
Their bull breeds, and does not fail. Their cow brings forth safely, and does not miscarry.
11 Moimagaragia twana twao tũingĩ o ta rũũru; ciana icio ciao ikaina igĩtũrũhaga.
They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.
They sing to the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the pipe.
13 Matũũraga mĩaka yao magaacĩire, na magathiĩ mbĩrĩra-inĩ marĩ na thayũ. (Sheol )
They spend their days in prosperity, and in a moment they go down to Sheol. (Sheol )
14 Na no-o meeraga Mũrungu atĩrĩ, ‘Thiĩ! Tigana na ithuĩ! Tũtikwenda kũmenya njĩra ciaku.
And they say to God, Depart from us, for we do not desire the knowledge of thy ways.
15 Mwene-Hinya-Wothe nĩwe ũ, atĩ nĩguo tũmũtungatagĩre? Tũkũgunĩka nakĩ tũngĩmũhooya?’
What is the Almighty that we should serve him? And what profit should we have, if we pray to him?
16 No rĩrĩ, kũgaacĩra kwao gũtirĩ moko-inĩ mao ene, nĩ ũndũ ũcio niĩ njikaraga haraaya na kĩrĩra kĩa andũ arĩa aaganu.
Lo, is their prosperity not in their hand. (The counsel of the wicked is far from me.)
How often is it that the lamp of the profane is put out, that their calamity comes upon them, that God distributes sorrows in his anger,
18 Nĩ maita maigana matuĩkaga ta nyeki nyũmũ ĩkũhurutwo nĩ rũhuho, o na kana ta maragara marĩa mombũragwo nĩ kĩhuhũkanio?
that they are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carries away?
19 Kuugagwo atĩrĩ, ‘Ngai aigagĩra ciana iherithia rĩa ithe wao.’ No rĩrĩ, nĩ kaba Ngai aherithie mũndũ ũcio we mwene, nĩguo amenye nĩehĩtie!
Ye say, God lays up his iniquity for his sons. Let him recompense it to himself that he may know it.
20 Maitho make nĩmeyonere mwanangĩko wake mwene; nĩarekwo akunde mangʼũrĩ ma Mwene-Hinya-Wothe.
Let his own eyes see his destruction, and let him drink of the wrath of the Almighty.
21 Nĩ ũndũ-rĩ, anga no eetangaga ha ũhoro wa andũ ake arĩa agaatiga na thuutha, matukũ make maathira?
For what does he care for his house after him when the number of his months is cut off?
22 “Nĩ kũrĩ mũndũ o na ũmwe ũngĩhota kũruta Mũrungu atĩ nĩguo agĩe na ũmenyo, kuona atĩ Mũrungu nĩwe ũtuanagĩra ciira, o na agatuĩra arĩa atũũgĩirie mũno?
Shall any teach God knowledge, seeing he judges those who are high?
23 Nĩ kũrĩ mũndũ ũkuuaga arĩ na hinya wake wothe, arĩ mũgitĩre wega biũ, na arĩ na thayũ,
One man dies in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.
His pails are full of milk, and the marrow of his bones is moistened.
And another man dies in bitterness of soul, and never tastes of good.
26 Makomaga o ro ũndũ ũmwe tĩĩri-inĩ, na eerĩ-rĩ, igunyũ ikamahumbĩra.
They lie down alike in the dust, and the worm covers them.
27 “Niĩ nĩnjũũĩ wega ũrĩa mũreciiria, ngamenya mathugunda manyu maakũhĩtĩria namo.
Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices with which ye would wrong me.
For ye say, Where is the house of the prince? And where is the tent in which the wicked dwelt?
29 Kaĩ mũtarĩ muoria andũ arĩa mathiiaga ngʼendo? Kaĩ mũtarũmbũyagia ũrĩa mamwĩraga:
Have ye not asked wayfaring men? And do ye not know their evidences,
30 atĩ mũndũ ũrĩa mwaganu nĩ aiguagĩrwo tha mũthenya wa mũtino, atĩ nĩahonokagio mũthenya wa mangʼũrĩ?
that the evil man is reserved to the day of calamity? That they are led forth to the day of wrath?
31 Nũũ ũreganaga na mĩtugo ya mũndũ mwaganu maitho-inĩ make? Nũũ ũmũrĩhagia kũringana na maũndũ marĩa aaneka?
Who shall declare his way to his face? And who shall repay him what he has done?
32 Atwaragwo mbĩrĩra-inĩ, nayo mbĩrĩra yake ĩkarangagĩrwo.
Yet he shall be borne to the grave, and men shall keep watch over the tomb.
The clods of the valley shall be sweet to him. And all men shall draw after him, as there were innumerable before him.
34 “Mwakĩhota atĩa kũũhooreria na ndeto cia tũhũ? Hatirĩ kĩndũ gĩtigaru harĩ macookio manyu tiga o maheeni!”
How then ye comfort me in vain, seeing in your answers there remains falsehood?
