< Ayubu 13 >
1 “Atĩrĩrĩ, maitho makwa nĩmonete maũndũ macio mothe, matũ makwa nĩmamaiguĩte na magataũkĩrwo nĩmo.
Lo, my eye hath seen all [this], my ear hath heard and understood it.
2 Ũrĩa mũũĩ o na niĩ nĩnjũũĩ; mũtirĩ oogĩ kũngĩra.
What ye know, [the same] do I know also: I [am] not inferior to you.
3 No niĩ ndĩrenda kwaria na Mwene-Hinya-Wothe, na ngerirĩria gũciira na Mũrungu.
Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.
4 No inyuĩ-rĩ, mũranjigĩrĩra ndeto cia maheeni; inyuothe mũrĩ athondekani a tũhũ!
But ye [are] forgers of lies, ye [are] all physicians of no value.
5 Naarĩ korwo mwakira ki! Ũndũ ũcio ũngĩtuĩka ũũgĩ harĩ inyuĩ.
O that ye would altogether hold your peace and it would be your wisdom.
Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips.
7 Kaĩ mũngĩaria ũũru mũkĩarĩrĩria Mũrungu? Kaĩ mũngĩaria maheeni igũrũ rĩake?
Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him?
8 Kaĩ mũngĩmuonia kĩmenyano? Kaĩ mũgũciirĩrĩra Mũrungu?
Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God?
9 Angĩmũtuĩria inyuĩ-rĩ, ũndũ ũcio no ũtuĩke mwega? No mũmũheenie ta ũrĩa mũngĩheenia mũndũ?
Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye [so] mock him?
10 Ti-itherũ no amũrũithie mũngĩtuĩka a kuonania kĩmenyano na hitho.
He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons.
11 Hĩ, riiri wake ndũngĩmũmakia? Mũtingĩnyiitwo nĩ guoya nĩ ũndũ wake?
Shall not his excellence make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you?
12 Mĩario yanyu ya ũũgĩ nĩ thimo hũthũ o ta mũhu; ihooto cianyu no ta kwĩgitĩra na rĩũmba.
Your remembrances [are] like to ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay.
13 “Kirai ki, mũreke njarie; o ũrĩa ndĩrĩona-rĩ, rekei nyone.
Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what [will].
14 Nĩ kĩĩ gĩgũtũma ndĩtoonyie ũgwati-inĩ na ngaiga muoyo wakwa moko-inĩ makwa?
Why do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in my hand?
Though he shall slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain my own ways before him.
16 Ti-itherũ, ũndũ ũyũ noguo ũgaatuĩka wa kũũhonokia, nĩgũkorwo mũndũ ũtooĩ Ngai ndangĩũmĩrĩria gũũka mbere yake!
He also [shall be] my salvation: for a hypocrite shall not come before him.
17 Thikĩrĩriai wega ũhoro wakwa; matũ manyu nĩmakĩigue ũrĩa nguuga.
Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears.
Behold now, I have ordered [my] cause; I know that I shall be justified.
19 Nĩ kũrĩ mũndũ ũngĩhota gũũthitanga? Angĩkorwo nĩ kũrĩ-rĩ, no gũkira ngũkira ngue.
Who [is] he [that] will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall expire.
20 “Wee Ngai, ta kĩĩhe o maũndũ maya meerĩ, na ndigũcooka gũkwĩhitha:
Only do not two [things] to me: then will I not hide myself from thee.
21 Atĩrĩ, eheria guoko gwaku, gũikare kũraya na niĩ, na ũtige kũũmakia na imakania ciaku.
Withdraw thy hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid.
22 Ningĩ ũnjĩte na nĩngwĩtĩka, kana ũkĩreke njarie, nawe ũnjookerie.
Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me.
23 Nĩ mahĩtia na mehia maigana niĩ njĩkĩte? Nyonia ihĩtia na rĩĩhia rĩakwa.
How many [are] my iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin.
24 Ũraahitha ũthiũ waku nĩkĩ, na ũkandua thũ yaku?
Why hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thy enemy?
25 Nĩũngĩnyamaria ithangũ rĩrahurutwo nĩ rũhuho? Nĩũgũtengʼerania na maragara momũ?
Wilt thou break a leaf driven to and fro? and wilt thou pursue the dry stubble?
For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth.
Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly to all my paths; thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet.
28 “Nĩ ũndũ ũcio mũndũ amocaga ta kĩndũ kĩbuthĩte, agathira ta nguo ĩrĩĩtwo nĩ memenyi.
And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth-eaten.
