< Ayubu 11 >

1 Nake Zofaru ũrĩa Mũnaamathi agĩcookia, akĩũria atĩrĩ:
Then Sophar the Naamathite answered, and said:
2 “Ciugo icio ciothe-rĩ, nĩcikwaga gũcookio? Mwaria ũyũ-rĩ, nĩegũgĩtuuo mwagĩrĩru?
Shall not he that speaketh much, hear also? or shall a man full of talk be justified?
3 Mwĩraho ũcio waku-rĩ, nĩguo ũgũkiria andũ naguo? No kwage mũndũ ũngĩgũkaania rĩrĩa ũranyũrũrania?
Shall men hold their peace to thee only? and when thou hast mocked others, shall no man confute thee?
4 Wee ũreera Ngai atĩrĩ, ‘Wĩtĩkio wakwa ndũrĩ ũcuuke, o na niĩ ndĩ mũtheru maitho-inĩ maku.’
For thou hast said: My word is pure, and I am clean in thy sight.
5 Naarĩ korwo Ngai no aarie, atumũre mĩromo yake agũũkĩrĩre,
And I wish that God would speak with thee, and would open his lips to thee,
That he might shew thee the secrets of wisdom, and that his law is manifold, and thou mightest understand that he exacteth much less of thee, than thy iniquity deserveth.
7 “Wee no ũhote kũmenya maũndũ marĩa mahithe ma Ngai? Kana no ũhote gũtuĩria kũna maũndũ ma Mwene-Hinya-Wothe?
Peradventure thou wilt comprehend the steps of God, and wilt find out the Almighty perfectly?
8 Maũndũ make nĩmatũũgĩru gũkĩra igũrũ, wee nĩ atĩa ũngĩka? Nĩ mariku gũkĩra ũriku wa mbĩrĩra, wee nĩ atĩa ũngĩmenya? (Sheol h7585)
He is higher than heaven, and what wilt thou do? he is deeper than hell, and how wilt thou know? (Sheol h7585)
9 Gĩthimo kĩamo nĩ kĩraihu gũkĩra thĩ na nĩ kĩaramu gũkĩra iria rĩrĩa inene.
The measure of him is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.
10 “Angĩũka agũikie njeera-rĩ, acooke etane ciira-rĩ, nũũ ũngĩmũgiria?
If he shall overturn all things, or shall press them together, who shall contradict him?
11 Ti-itherũ nĩoĩ andũ arĩa maheenanagia; na rĩrĩa oona ũndũ mũũru-rĩ, githĩ ndaũmenyaga?
For he knoweth the vanity of men, and when he seeth iniquity, doth he not consider it?
12 No rĩrĩ, mũndũ ũtarĩ ũũgĩ ndangĩtuĩka mũũgĩ o na rĩ, o ta ũrĩa njaũ ya ndigiri ya gĩthaka ĩtarĩ hĩndĩ ĩngĩciarwo ĩrĩ mũndũ.
A vain man is lifted up into pride, and thinketh himself born free like a wild ass’s colt.
13 “No rĩrĩ, ũngĩneana ngoro yaku kũrĩ Ngai, na ũtambũrũkie moko maku kũrĩ we,
Rut thou hast hardened thy heart, and hast spread thy hands to him.
14 ũngĩeheria mehia marĩa marĩ guoko-inĩ gwaku, na ũgirie ũũru ũikare thĩinĩ wa hema yaku-rĩ,
If thou wilt put away from thee the iniquity that is in thy hand, and lot not injustice remain in thy tabernacle:
15 hĩndĩ ĩyo no ũhote gũtiira ũthiũ waku na igũrũ ũtegũconoka; no ũrũgame wega ũtarĩ na guoya.
Then mayst thou lift up thy face without spot, and thou shalt be steadfast, and shalt not fear.
16 Ti-itherũ nĩũkariganĩrwo nĩ mathĩĩna maku, ũmaririkanage o ta maaĩ marĩkĩtie gũtherera.
Thou shalt also forget misery, and remember it only as waters that are passed away.
17 Mũtũũrĩre waku nĩũgacangarara gũkĩra mũthenya barigici, nayo nduma ĩgaatuĩka o ta rũciinĩ.
And brightness like that of the noonday, shall arise to thee at evening: and when thou shalt think thyself consumed, thou shalt rise as the day star.
18 Ũgũtũũra ũrĩ na mwĩhoko tondũ ũrĩ na ũgitĩri, ũkehũgũraga harĩa ũrĩ, na ũkahurũka ũtarĩ na ũgwati.
And thou shalt have confidence, hope being set before thee, and being buried thou shalt sleep secure.
19 Nĩũgakomaga, gũtarĩ na mũndũ ũngĩtũma wĩtigĩre, nao andũ aingĩ nĩmakeyendithagia harĩ we.
Thou shalt rest, and there shall be none to make thee afraid: and many shall entreat thy face.
20 No rĩrĩ, maitho ma andũ arĩa aaganu nĩmakaaga kuona, na matikoona gwa kũũrĩra; naguo ũndũ ũrĩa meriragĩria ũgaatuĩka mũcaayo wa gĩkuũ.”
But the eyes of the wicked shall decay, and the way to escape shall fail them, and their hope the abomination of the soul.
