< Jeremia 46 >
1 Ĩno nĩyo ndũmĩrĩri ya Jehova ĩkoniĩ ndũrĩrĩ ĩrĩa yakinyĩrĩire mũnabii Jeremia:
This is the word of the LORD about the nations—the word that came to Jeremiah the prophet
concerning Egypt and the army of Pharaoh Neco king of Egypt, which was defeated at Carchemish on the Euphrates River by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah:
3 “Thagathagai ngo cianyu, iria nene na tũrĩa tũnini, mũthiĩ mbaara-inĩ!
“Deploy your shields, small and large; advance for battle!
4 Tandĩkai mbarathi, mũcihaice! Rũgamai o mũndũ handũ hake mwĩkĩrĩte ngũbia cia igera! Kumuthai matimũ manyu, na mwĩhumbe nguo cianyu cia mbaara.
Harness the horses; mount the steeds; take your positions with helmets on! Polish your spears; put on armor!
5 Nĩ kĩĩ ndĩrona? Nĩamaku mũno, nĩmaracooka na thuutha, njamba ciao nĩndoorie. Nĩmetharĩte na ihenya matekwĩhũgũra, na kũrĩ na itua-nda mĩena yothe,” ũguo nĩguo Jehova ekuuga.
Why am I seeing this? They are terrified, they are retreating; their warriors are defeated, they flee in haste without looking back; terror is on every side!”
6 “Arĩa marĩ ihenya matingĩhota kũũra, kana arĩa marĩ hinya meethare. Mwena wa gathigathini kũu Rũũĩ-inĩ rwa Farati mahĩngagwo makagũa.
“The swift cannot flee, and the warrior cannot escape! In the north by the River Euphrates they stumble and fall.
7 “Nũũ ũyũ wĩyambararĩtie ta Rũũĩ rwa Nili, akaambarara ta njũũĩ irĩ na ndiihũ cia maaĩ?
Who is this, rising like the Nile, like rivers whose waters churn?
8 Bũrũri wa Misiri wĩyambararĩtie ta Rũũĩ rwa Nili, ũkambarara ta njũũĩ irĩ na ndiihũ cia maaĩ. Oigaga atĩrĩ, ‘Nĩngũiyũra nginya humbĩre thĩ; nĩngwananga matũũra marĩa manene na andũ arĩa matũũraga kuo.’
Egypt rises like the Nile, and its waters churn like rivers, boasting, ‘I will rise and cover the earth; I will destroy the cities and their people.’
9 Guthũkai, inyuĩ mbarathi ici! Matengʼeriei hatarĩ itherũ, inyuĩ mũtwarithagia ngaari cia ita. Umagarai, inyuĩ njamba ici cia ita: inyuĩ andũ a Kushi na a Putu, inyuĩ mũũĩ kũrũmia ngo, na inyuĩ andũ a Ludu, inyuĩ mũgeetaga ũta.
Advance, O horses! Race furiously, O chariots! Let the warriors come forth— Cush and Put carrying their shields, men of Lydia drawing the bow.
10 No rĩrĩ, mũthenya ũcio nĩ wa Mwathani, o we Jehova Mwene-Hinya-Wothe: nĩ mũthenya wa kwĩrĩhĩria, erĩhĩrie harĩ thũ ciake.
For that day belongs to the Lord GOD of Hosts, a day of vengeance against His foes. The sword will devour until it is satisfied, until it is quenched with their blood. For the Lord GOD of Hosts will hold a sacrifice in the land of the north by the River Euphrates.
11 “Ambata, ũkinye Gileadi, ũgĩĩre ndawa, wee Mũirĩtu Gathirange, Mwarĩ wa bũrũri wa Misiri. No rĩrĩ, ũingĩhagia ndawa icio mũno, o tũhũ; gũtirĩ ingĩkũhonia.
Go up to Gilead for balm, O Virgin Daughter of Egypt! In vain you try many remedies, but for you there is no healing.
12 Ndũrĩrĩ nĩikaigua ũhoro wa gũconorithio gwaku; kĩrĩro gĩaku gĩkaaiyũra thĩ. Njamba ĩkaahĩngagwo nĩ ĩrĩa ĩngĩ; cierĩ ikaagũa thĩ hamwe.”
The nations have heard of your shame, and your outcry fills the earth, because warrior stumbles over warrior and both of them have fallen together.”
This is the word that the LORD spoke to Jeremiah the prophet about the coming of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to strike the land of Egypt:
14 “Anĩrĩrai ũhoro ũyũ bũrũri-inĩ wa Misiri, na mũũhunjie kũu Migidoli; ningĩ mũũhunjanĩrie kũu Nofu na Tahapanahesi: ‘Rũgamai harĩa hamwagĩrĩire na mwĩhaarĩrie, nĩgũkorwo rũhiũ rwa njora nĩrũrarĩa arĩa mamũthiũrũrũkĩirie.’
“Announce it in Egypt, and proclaim it in Migdol; proclaim it in Memphis and Tahpanhes: ‘Take your positions and prepare yourself, for the sword devours those around you.’
15 Nĩ kĩĩ gĩgũtũma njamba cianyu cia ita ciaraganio thĩ? Itingĩhota gwĩtiiria, nĩgũkorwo Jehova nĩwe ũgaacitindĩka acigũithie thĩ.
Why have your warriors been laid low? They cannot stand, for the LORD has thrust them down.
16 Nĩikahĩngwo rĩngĩ na rĩngĩ; ikaagũanĩra o mũndũ igũrũ rĩa ũrĩa ũngĩ. Ikoiga atĩrĩ, ‘Ũkĩrai, nĩtũcookei kũrĩ andũ aitũ, kũrĩa twaciarĩirwo, tweherere rũhiũ rũrũ rwa njora rwa mũtũhatĩrĩria.’
They continue to stumble; indeed, they have fallen over one another. They say, ‘Get up! Let us return to our people and to the land of our birth, away from the sword of the oppressor.’
17 Marĩ kũu makaanagĩrĩra, makoiga atĩrĩ, ‘Firaũni mũthamaki wa bũrũri wa Misiri, nĩ inegene rĩa tũhũ; nĩorirwo nĩ mweke wake.’”
There they will cry out: ‘Pharaoh king of Egypt was all noise; he has let the appointed time pass him by.’
18 Mũthamaki, o we ũrĩa wĩtagwo Jehova Mwene-Hinya-Wothe, ekuuga atĩrĩ, “Ti-itherũ o ta ũrĩa niĩ ndũũraga muoyo-rĩ, nĩ kũrĩ mũndũ ũroka, ũgaakorwo ahaana ta Kĩrĩma gĩa Taboru kĩrĩ gatagatĩ-inĩ ka irĩma iria ingĩ, o na ta ũrĩa Kĩrĩma gĩa Karimeli kĩhaana kĩrĩ hakuhĩ na iria.
As surely as I live, declares the King, whose name is the LORD of Hosts, there will come one who is like Tabor among the mountains and like Carmel by the sea.
19 Oha mĩrigo yaku ya gũthiĩ nayo kũrĩa ũgaatahwo, ũtwarwo, wee ũtũũraga bũrũri wa Misiri, nĩgũkorwo Nofu gũkaanangwo, kwage kĩndũ, o na gũkire ihooru, gũtarĩ mũndũ wa gũgũtũũra.
Pack your bags for exile, O daughter dwelling in Egypt! For Memphis will be laid waste, destroyed and uninhabited.
20 “Bũrũri wa Misiri ũhaana moori njega mũno, no rĩrĩ, nĩ harĩ mbogo kanyarare ĩrooka kũmĩũkĩrĩra, yumĩte mwena wa gathigathini.
Egypt is a beautiful heifer, but a gadfly from the north is coming against her.
21 Thigari cia mũcaara iria irĩ kuo ihaana ta njaũ cia gĩcegũ. O nao nĩmakagarũrũka more marĩ hamwe, matikahota gwĩtiiria, nĩgũkorwo mũthenya wa mwanangĩko nĩũkamakorerera, na nĩrĩo ihinda rĩao rĩa kũherithio.
Even the mercenaries among her are like fattened calves. They too will turn back; together they will flee, they will not stand their ground, for the day of calamity is coming upon them— the time of their punishment.
Egypt will hiss like a fleeing serpent, for the enemy will advance in force; with axes they will come against her like woodsmen cutting down trees.
23 Jehova ekuuga atĩrĩ, “Nĩmagatema mũtitũ wakuo, o na ũrĩ mũtumanu ũguo. Tondũ nĩ andũ aingĩ mũno gũkĩra ngigĩ, na matingĩtarĩka.
They will chop down her forest, declares the LORD, dense though it may be, for they are more numerous than locusts; they cannot be counted.
24 Mwarĩ ũcio wa bũrũri wa Misiri nĩagaconorithio, akaanenganĩrwo kũrĩ andũ a mwena wa gathigathini.”
The Daughter of Egypt will be put to shame; she will be delivered into the hands of the people of the north.”
The LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “Behold, I am about to punish Amon god of Thebes, along with Pharaoh, Egypt with her gods and kings, and those who trust in Pharaoh.
26 Nĩngamaneana kũrĩ andũ arĩa mendaga kũmaruta muoyo, ndĩmaneane kũrĩ Nebukadinezaru mũthamaki wa Babuloni na anene ake. No rĩrĩ, thuutha-inĩ bũrũri wa Misiri nĩgũgatũũrwo nĩ andũ rĩngĩ o ta tene,” ũguo nĩguo Jehova ekuuga.
I will deliver them into the hands of those who seek their lives—of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and his officers. But after this, Egypt will be inhabited as in days of old, declares the LORD.
27 “Tiga gwĩtigĩra, wee Jakubu ndungata yakwa: o nawe Isiraeli-rĩ, ndũkamake. Ti-itherũ nĩngakũhonokia ngũrutĩte kũndũ kũraya, njiaro ciaku ciume bũrũri ũrĩa ciatahirwo igĩtwarwo. Jakubu nĩagakorwo na thayũ na ũgitĩri rĩngĩ, na gũtirĩ mũndũ ũgaatũma acooke gwĩtigĩra.”
But you, O Jacob My servant, do not be afraid, and do not be dismayed, O Israel. For I will surely save you out of a distant place, your descendants from the land of their captivity! Jacob will return to quiet and ease, with no one to make him afraid.
28 Jehova ekuuga atĩrĩ “Tiga gwĩtigĩra, wee Jakubu ndungata yakwa, nĩgũkorwo ndĩ hamwe nawe. o na ingĩkaniinũkia ndũrĩrĩ ciothe kũrĩa ndarekire mũtwarwo mũrĩ atahe-rĩ, wee ndigakũniina biũ, no rĩrĩ, nĩngakũherithia na kĩhooto; ndigakũreka ũthiĩ o ũguo ũtaherithĩtio.”
And you, My servant Jacob, do not be afraid, declares the LORD, for I am with you. Though I will completely destroy all the nations to which I have banished you, I will not completely destroy you. Yet I will discipline you justly, and will by no means leave you unpunished.”
