THE WORD THAT CAME TO JEREMIAS FROM THE LORD, SAYING,
2 No rĩrĩ, we mwene o na kana arĩa maamũtungatagĩra, na andũ a bũrũri ũcio matiarũmbũirie ciugo iria Jehova aarĩtie na kanua ka Jeremia ũcio mũnabii.
Thus speaks the Lord God of Israel, saying, Write all the words which I have spoken to thee in a book.
3 Nake Mũthamaki Zedekia agĩtũma Jehukali mũrũ wa Shelemia marĩ na Zefania mũrũ wa Maaseia ũrĩa mũthĩnjĩri-Ngai mathiĩ kũrĩ Jeremia ũcio mũnabii, mamũtwarĩre ndũmĩrĩri ĩno: “Twagũthaitha ũtũhooere kũrĩ Jehova, Ngai witũ.”
For, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will bring back the captivity of my people Israel and Juda, said the Lord: and I will bring them back to the land which I gave to their fathers, and they shall be lords of it.
4 Na rĩrĩ, ihinda rĩu Jeremia aarĩ na wĩyathi wa gũceeranga gatagatĩ-inĩ ka andũ, nĩgũkorwo ndaakoretwo aikĩtio njeera.
AND THESE ARE THE WORDS WHICH THE LORD SPOKE CONCERNING ISRAEL AND JUDA;
5 Hĩndĩ ĩyo mbũtũ cia ita cia Firaũni nĩcioimagarĩte kuuma bũrũri wa Misiri, na rĩrĩa andũ a Babuloni arĩa maarigiicĩirie Jerusalemu maiguire ũhoro wacio, makĩhũndũka, makĩehera kũu Jerusalemu.
Thus said the Lord: Ye shall hear a sound of fear, [there is] fear, and there is not peace.
6 Hĩndĩ ĩyo ndũmĩrĩri ya Jehova ĩgĩkinyĩra Jeremia ũcio mũnabii, akĩĩrwo atĩrĩ,
Enquire, and see if a male has born a child? and [ask] concerning the fear, wherein they shall hold their loins, and [look for] safety: for I have seen every man, and his hands are on his loins; [their] faces are turned to paleness.
7 “Jehova, Ngai wa Isiraeli, ekuuga atĩrĩ: Ĩra mũthamaki wa Juda, ũcio ũgũtũmĩte ũũke ũhooe kĩrĩra harĩ niĩ, atĩrĩ, ‘Mbũtũ cia ita cia Firaũni icio irooka gũgũteithia-rĩ, nĩigũcooka bũrũri wacio, kũu bũrũri wa Misiri.
For that day is great, and there is not such [another]; and it is a time of straitness to Jacob; but he shall be saved out of it.
8 Hĩndĩ ĩyo nao andũ a Babuloni nĩmagacooka gũkũ na matharĩkĩre itũũra rĩĩrĩ inene, marĩtunyane na marĩcine na mwaki.’
In that day, said the Lord, I will break the yoke off their neck, and will burst their bonds, and they shall no longer serve strangers:
9 “Jehova ekuuga atĩrĩ: Tigai kwĩheenia, mũgĩĩciiria atĩrĩ, ‘Andũ a Babuloni ti-itherũ nĩmegũtigana na ithuĩ matweherere.’ Matigeeka ũguo!
but they shall serve the Lord their God; and I will raise up to them David their king.
10 O na mũngĩhoota mbũtũ ciothe cia ita cia andũ a Babuloni icio iramũtharĩkĩra, na gũtuĩke atĩ no andũ arĩa matiihangĩtio matigĩtwo hema-inĩ ciao-rĩ, no moime kũu hema-inĩ na macine itũũra rĩĩrĩ na mwaki.”
11 Thuutha wa mbũtũ icio cia ita cia andũ a Babuloni kwehera kũu Jerusalemu nĩ ũndũ wa mbũtũ cia Firaũni,
12 Jeremia nĩoimagarire kuuma itũũra-inĩ rĩu inene nĩguo athiĩ bũrũri wa Benjamini akenyiitĩre igai rĩake rĩa gĩthaka gatagatĩ-inĩ ka andũ arĩa maarĩ kuo.
Thus saith the Lord; I have brought on [thee] destruction; thy stroke is painful.
13 No rĩrĩa aakinyire Kĩhingo-inĩ kĩa Benjamini, mũnene wa arangĩri ũrĩa wetagwo Irija mũrũ wa Shelemia, mũrũ wa Hanania, akĩmũnyiita, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Wee nĩ kũũra ũroora ũthiĩ ũkeneane kũrĩ andũ a Babuloni!”
There is none to judge thy cause: thou hast been painfully treated for healing, there is no help for thee.
14 Jeremia akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Aca ũguo tiguo! Niĩ ti kũũra ndĩroora ngeneane kũrĩ andũ a Babuloni.” No Irija akĩrega kũmũthikĩrĩria; handũ ha ũguo akĩnyiita Jeremia, akĩmũtwara kũrĩ anene.
All thy friends have forgotten thee; they shall not ask [about thee] at all, for I have smitten thee with he stroke of an enemy, [even] severe correction: thy sins have abounded above all thine iniquity.
15 Anene acio nĩmarakarĩire Jeremia, na magĩathana ahũũrwo na ahingĩrwo nyũmba ya Jonathani ũrĩa mwandĩki, ĩrĩa maatuĩte njeera.
Thy sins have abounded beyond the multitude of thine iniquities, [therefore] they have done these things to thee. Therefore all that devour thee shall be eaten, and all thine enemies shall eat all their [own] flesh.
16 Nake Jeremia agĩtoonyio mungu-inĩ warĩ kanyũmba ga thĩinĩ mũno kũu kĩoho-inĩ, kũrĩa aikarire matukũ maingĩ.
And they that spoil thee shall become a spoil, and I will give up to be plundered all that have plundered thee.
For I will bring about thy healing, I will heal thee of thy grievous wound, saith the Lord; for thou art called Dispersed: she is your prey, for no one seeks after her.
18 Ningĩ Jeremia akĩĩra Mũthamaki Zedekia atĩrĩ, “Nĩ ũndũ ũrĩkũ ngwĩhĩtie we mwene, kana ndungata ciaku, o na kana andũ aya, nĩguo njikio njeera?
Thus said the Lord; Behold, I will turn the captivity of Jacob, and will have pity upon his prisoners; and the city shall be built upon her hill, and the people shall settle after their manner.
19 Marĩ ha anabii acio aku, acio maakũrathĩire ũhoro atĩrĩ, ‘Mũthamaki wa Babuloni ndagagũtharĩkĩra wee o na kana bũrũri ũyũ’?
And there shall go forth from them singers, [even] the sound of men making merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not at all be diminished.
20 Na rĩu-rĩ, wee mũthamaki mwathi wakwa, ĩtĩkĩra gũthikĩrĩria. Njĩtĩkĩria ndeehe mathaithana makwa mbere yaku: Ndũkanjookie nyũmba ya Jonathani ũrĩa mwandĩki, ndigakuĩre kuo.”
And their sons shall go in as before, and their testimonies shall be established before me, and I will visit them that afflict them.
21 Nake Mũthamaki Zedekia akĩruta watho, akiuga atĩ Jeremia aigwo kũu nja ĩrĩa ya arangĩri, na aheagwo mũgate o mũthenya ũrutĩtwo barabara-inĩ ya arugi mĩgate, o nginya rĩrĩa mĩgate ĩgaathira kũu itũũra-inĩ inene. Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Jeremia agĩikara kũu nja ĩyo ya arangĩri.
And their mighty ones shall be over them, and their prince shall proceed of themselves; and I will gather them, and they shall return to me: for who is this that has set his heart to return to me? saith the Lord.
For the wrathful anger of the lord has gone forth, [even] a whirlwind of anger has gone forth: it shall come upon the ungodly.
The fierce anger of the Lord shall not return, until he shall execute [it], and until he shall establish the purpose of his heart: in the latter days ye shall know these things.
