< Jakubu 5 >

1 Rĩu ta thikĩrĩriai, inyuĩ itonga ici, rĩrai na mũgirĩke tondũ wa mathĩĩna marĩa maramũkora.
Come now, ye rich, weep mourning over your calamities which are coming on you.
2 Ũtonga wanyu nĩ ũbuthĩte, nacio nguo cianyu nĩ ndĩe nĩ memenyi.
Your riches are corrupted, and your garments have become moth-eaten:
3 Thahabu na betha cianyu nĩ irootete. Kũroota gwacio nĩ ũira wa atĩ nĩireganĩte na inyuĩ, na nĩikũrĩa mĩĩrĩ yanyu imũniine o ta mwaki. Inyuĩ mwĩigĩire mũthithũ mũingĩ wa matukũ ma kũrigĩrĩria.
your gold and your silver are cankered; and their rust shall be for a witness against you, and eat your flesh like fire. You laid up treasures in the last days.
4 Atĩrĩrĩ! Mĩcaara ĩrĩa mwaregire kũrĩha aruti a wĩra arĩa maamũrĩmĩire mĩgũnda nĩĩramũkaĩra. Gũkaya kwa arĩa maamũgetheire irio nĩgũkinyĩire matũ ma Mwathani Mwene hinya wothe.
Behold, the wages of the laborers having reaped your fields, which is fraudulently kept back by you, is crying out: and the voices of the reapers have come into the ears of the Lord of hosts.
5 Mũtũũrĩte gũkũ thĩ na mĩago na mũgĩĩkenagia. Inyuĩ mwĩnoretie nĩ ũndũ wa mũthenya wa gũthĩnjwo.
Ye flourished upon the earth, and were wanton; you nourished your hearts in the day of slaughter.
6 Inyuĩ nĩ mũtuĩrĩire andũ ciira na mũkamooraga matarĩ na mahĩtia, o acio matarĩ ũũru na inyuĩ.
You condemned, you murdered the righteous; nothing antagonizes you.
7 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio, ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, kiragĩrĩriai, o nginya rĩrĩa Mwathani agooka.
Therefore, O brethren, suffer long, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer receives the precious fruit of the earth, waiting for it, until he may receive the former and latter rain:
8 O na inyuĩ-rĩ, kirĩrĩriai na mwĩhaande wega, tondũ Mwathani arĩ hakuhĩ gũũka.
you also suffer long; establish your hearts; because the coming of the Lord is nigh.
9 Ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, tigagai gũtetania, nĩgeetha mũtikanatuĩrwo ciira. Mũtuanĩri ciira arũngiĩ o mũrango-inĩ!
Do not complain against one another, brethren, in order that you may not be judged: behold, the judge stands before the doors.
10 Ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, mwĩrutei na maũndũ marĩa mooru anabii meekirwo, o acio maaragia thĩinĩ wa rĩĩtwa rĩa Mwathani, naguo ũhoro ũcio ũtuĩke kĩonereria kĩanyu gĩa gũkirĩrĩria rĩrĩa mũkũnyamario.
Brethren, receive the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord as an example of suffering evil and longsuffering.
Behold, we pronounce them happy who have endured: you have heard the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord, because the Lord is very merciful, and sympathetic.
12 Ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, igũrũ rĩa maũndũ mothe-rĩ, tigagai kwĩhĩta. Mũtikanehĩte na igũrũ kana na thĩ, o na kana na kĩndũ kĩngĩ o na kĩ. Inyuĩ-rĩ, mwoiga “Ĩĩ” nĩĩtuĩke ĩĩ, na mwoiga “Aca” nĩĩtuĩke aca, nĩguo mũtikae gũtuĩrwo ciira.
But, my brethren, before all, swear not, neither by heaven, or by earth, or any other oath: but let your conversation be yes yes; and no no; lest you may fall under condemnation.
13 Nĩ harĩ mũndũ thĩinĩ wanyu wonete ũũru? Ũcio nĩahooe. Nĩ harĩ mũndũ ũkenete? Ũcio nĩaine nyĩmbo cia kũgooca.
Who is afflicted among you? let him pray. Who is merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Nĩ harĩ mũndũ thĩinĩ wanyu mũrũaru? Ũcio nĩete athuuri a kanitha mamũhooere na mamũhake maguta thĩinĩ wa rĩĩtwa rĩa Mwathani.
Is any one sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
15 Namo mahooya mangĩhooywo na wĩtĩkio nĩ megũtũma mũndũ ũcio mũrũaru ahone; Mwathani nĩekũmwarahũra. Angĩkorwo ehĩtie-rĩ, nĩekũrekerwo mehia make.
Truly the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up; if he may have committed sins, they shall be forgiven unto him.
16 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio umbũranagĩrai mehia manyu o mũndũ na ũrĩa ũngĩ, na mũhooyanagĩre nĩgeetha mũhonagio. Ihooya rĩa mũndũ mũthingu nĩ rĩrĩ hinya na nĩ rĩtũmaga maũndũ manene mekĩke.
Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, in order that you may be healed: the inward working prayer of a righteous man avails much.
17 Elija aarĩ mũndũ o ta ithuĩ. Nake nĩahooire Ngai na kĩyo atĩ mbura ndĩkoire, nayo mbura ndĩoirire bũrũri-inĩ ũcio ihinda rĩa mĩaka ĩtatũ na nuthu.
Elijah was a man of like suffering to us, and he prayed with prayer that it might not rain, and it rained not upon the earth during three years and six months;
18 Ningĩ agĩcooka akĩhooya, nakuo matu-inĩ gũkiuma mbura, nayo thĩ ĩgĩciara maciaro mayo.
and again he prayed, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
19 Atĩrĩrĩ ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, mũndũ ũmwe wanyu angĩagaga oime ũhoro-inĩ wa ma nake mũndũ ũngĩ amũgarũre-rĩ,
My brethren, if any one among you may err from the truth, and one may turn him back;
20 ririkanai ũũ: Mũndũ ũrĩa wothe ũgarũraga mwĩhia kuuma njĩra-inĩ yake njũru-rĩ, nĩkũmũhonokia akaamũhonokia kuuma harĩ gĩkuũ na ahumbĩre mehia maingĩ.
let him know, that the one having turned a sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and hide a multitude of sins.
