1 Ũyũ nĩguo ũhoro ũrĩa wandĩkĩtwo wĩgiĩ njiarwa cia Adamu. Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa Ngai oombire mũndũ-rĩ, amũũmbire na mũhianĩre wa Ngai.
Here is a list of the descendants of Adam. When God created humans, he caused them to be like him in many ways.
2 Ngai aamoombire mũndũ mũrũme na mũndũ-wa-nja na akĩmarathima. Na aarĩkia kũmomba, akĩmeeta “mũndũ.”
He created one man and one woman. He blessed them, and on the day that he created them, he called them ‘human beings’.

When Adam was 130 years old, he became the father of a son who [grew up to] be just like him. That was the son he named Seth.

After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 more years, and during those years he became the father of other sons and daughters.
5 Mĩaka yothe ĩrĩa Adamu aatũũrire muoyo yarĩ mĩaka magana kenda na mĩrongo ĩtatũ, agĩcooka agĩkua.
Adam lived 930 years altogether, and then he died.
6 Sethi aakinyia mĩaka igana na ĩtano-rĩ, akĩgĩa na mũriũ wetagwo Enoshu.
When Seth was 105 years old, he became the father of Enosh.
7 Na thuutha wa Enoshu gũciarwo-rĩ, Sethi agĩtũũra muoyo mĩaka ĩngĩ magana manana na mũgwanja na akĩgĩa na ciana ingĩ cia aanake na cia airĩtu.
After Enosh was born, Seth lived 807 more years, and became the father of other sons and daughters.
8 Mĩaka yothe ĩrĩa Sethi aatũũrire muoyo yarĩ mĩaka magana kenda na ikũmi na ĩĩrĩ, agĩcooka agĩkua.
Seth lived 912 years altogether, and then he died.
9 Enoshu aakinyia mĩaka mĩrongo kenda-rĩ, akĩgĩa na mũriũ wetagwo Kenani.
When Enosh was 90 years old, he became the father of Kenan.

Enosh lived 905 years altogether, and then he died.
12 Kenani aakinyia mĩaka mĩrongo mũgwanja-rĩ, akĩgĩa na mũriũ wetagwo Mahalaleli.
When Kenan was 70 years old, he became the father of Mahalalel.

15 Mahalaleli aakinyia mĩaka mĩrongo ĩtandatũ na ĩtano-rĩ, akĩgĩa na mũriũ wetagwo Jaredi.
When Mahalalel was 65 years old, he became the father of Jared.

Mahalalel lived 895 years altogether, and then he died.
18 Jaredi aakinyia mĩaka igana na mĩrongo ĩtandatũ na ĩĩrĩ-rĩ, akĩgĩa na mũriũ wetagwo Enoku.
When Jared was 162 years old, he became the father of Enoch.

Jared lived 800 years after Enoch was born, and he became the father of other sons and daughters.

When Enoch was 65 years old, he became the father of Methuselah.

Enoch lived in close fellowship with God for 300 years after Methuselah was born, and he became the father of other sons and daughters.
23 Mĩaka yothe ĩrĩa Enoku aatũũrire muoyo yarĩ mĩaka magana matatũ na mĩrongo ĩtandatũ na ĩtano.
Enoch lived 365 years altogether in close fellowship with God.
24 Enoku agĩtwarana na Ngai nginya akĩagwo tondũ Ngai nĩamuoire.
Then one day he disappeared, because God took him away [to be with him in heaven].
25 Methusela aakinyia mĩaka igana na mĩrongo ĩnana na mũgwanja-rĩ, akĩgĩa na mũriũ wetagwo Lameku.
When Methuselah was 187 years old, he became the father of Lamech.
26 Na thuutha wa Lameku gũciarwo-rĩ, Methusela agĩtũũra muoyo mĩaka ĩngĩ magana mũgwanja na mĩrongo ĩnana na ĩĩrĩ, na akĩgĩa na ciana ingĩ cia aanake na cia airĩtu.
Methuselah lived 782 years after Lamech was born, and became the father of other sons and daughters.
27 Mĩaka yothe ĩrĩa Methusela aatũũrire muoyo yarĩ mĩaka magana kenda na mĩrongo ĩtandatũ na kenda, agĩcooka agĩkua.
Methuselah lived 969 years altogether, and then he died.
28 Lameku aakinyia mĩaka igana na mĩrongo ĩnana na ĩĩrĩ-rĩ, akĩgĩa mwana wa kahĩĩ.
When Lamech was 182 years old, he became the father of a son,
29 Nake agĩgatua Nuhu, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Nĩarĩtũhooragĩria ruo rwa wĩra na mĩnoga ya moko maitũ rĩrĩa tũkũrĩma, tondũ Jehova nĩarumire thĩ.”
whom he named Noah, [which sounds like the Hebrew word that means ‘relief’], because he said, “He will bring us relief from all the hard work we have been doing to produce food from the ground that Yahweh cursed.”
30 Thuutha wa Nuhu gũciarwo-rĩ, Lameku agĩtũũra muoyo mĩaka ĩngĩ magana matano na mĩrongo kenda na ĩtano, na akĩgĩa na ciana ingĩ cia aanake na cia airĩtu.
Lamech lived 595 years after Noah was born and became the father of other sons and daughters.
31 Mĩaka yothe ĩrĩa Lameku aatũũrire muoyo yarĩ mĩaka magana mũgwanja na mĩrongo mũgwanja na mũgwanja, agĩcooka agĩkua.
Lamech lived 777 years altogether, and then he died.
32 Nuhu aakinyia ũkũrũ wa mĩaka magana matano-rĩ, akĩgĩa na ariũ ake na nĩo Shemu, na Hamu na Jafethu.
When Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of a son whom he named Shem. Later he became the father of another son whom he named Ham, and later he became the father of another son whom he named Japheth.
