1 Na rĩrĩ, ũyũ nĩguo ũhoro wa Esaũ (na nowe Edomu).
And these [are] the generations of Esau; this is Edom.

And Esau took to himself wives of the daughters of the Chananites; Ada, the daughter of Aelom the Chettite; and Olibema, daughter of Ana the son of Sebegon, the Evite;
3 o na ningĩ Basemathu ũrĩa warĩ mwarĩ wa Ishumaeli na mwarĩ wa nyina na Nebaiothu.
and Basemath, daughter of Ismael, sister of Nabaioth.
4 Ada agĩciarĩra Esaũ Elifazu, na Basemathu agĩciara Reueli,
And Ada bore to him Eliphas; and Basemath bore Raguel.
5 nake Oholibama agĩciara Jeushu, na Jalamu na Kora. Acio nĩo maarĩ ariũ a Esaũ, arĩa aaciarĩirwo kũu Kaanani.
And Olibema bore Jeus, and Jeglom, and Core; these [are] the sons of Esau, which were born to him in the land of Chanaan.
6 Na rĩrĩ, Esaũ akĩoya atumia ake na ariũ ake na airĩtu ake na andũ othe a nyũmba yake, o na mahiũ make na nyamũ iria ingĩ ciake, na indo ciothe iria aagĩte nacio kũu Kaanani, na agĩthiĩ bũrũri waraihanĩrĩirie na mũrũ wa nyina Jakubu.
And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and all his possessions, and all his cattle, and all that he had got, and all things whatsoever he had acquired in the land of Chanaan; and Esau went forth from the land of Chanaan, from the face of his brother Jacob.
7 Indo ciao ciarĩ nyingĩ mũno ũndũ matangĩahotire gũikarania hamwe; bũrũri ũrĩa maatũũraga ndũngĩahotire kũmaigana eerĩ nĩ ũndũ wa mahiũ mao.
For their substance was too great for them to dwell together; and the land of their sojourning could not bear them, because of the abundance of their possessions.
8 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Esaũ (na nowe Edomu) agĩthiĩ gũtũũra bũrũri wa irĩma wa Seiru.
And Esau dwelt in mount Seir; Esau, he is Edom.
9 Ũyũ nĩguo ũhoro wa Esaũ ithe wa andũ a Edomu kũu bũrũri-inĩ wa irĩma wa Seiru.
And these [are] the generations of Esau, the father of Edom in the mount Seir.
10 Maya nĩmo marĩĩtwa ma ariũ a Esaũ: nĩ Elifazu, mũrũ wa Ada mũtumia wa Esaũ, na Reueli, mũrũ wa Basemathu mũtumia wa Esaũ.
And these [are] the names of the sons of Esau. Eliphas, the son of Ada, the wife of Esau; and Raguel, the son of Basemath, wife of Esau.
11 Ariũ a Elifazu nĩ aya: nĩ Temani, na Omari, na Zefo, na Gatamu, na Kenazu.
And the sons of Eliphas were Thaeman, Omar, Sophar, Gothom, and Kenez.
12 Elifazu mũrũ wa Esaũ o nake nĩ aarĩ na thuriya yetagwo Timina, ĩrĩa yamũciarĩire Amaleki. Acio nĩo maarĩ ariũ a mũrũ wa Ada mũtumia wa Esaũ.
And Thamna was a concubine of Eliphaz, the son of Esau; and she bore Amalec to Eliphas. These [are] the sons of Ada, the wife of Esau.
13 Ariũ a Reueli nĩ aya: nĩ Nahathu, na Zera, na Shama, na Miza. Acio nĩo maarĩ ariũ a mũrũ wa Basemathu mũtumia wa Esaũ.
And these [are] the sons of Raguel; Nachoth, Zare, Some, and Moze. These were the sons of Basemath, wife of Esau.
14 Ariũ a Esaũ arĩa aaciarĩirwo nĩ Oholibama mũtumia wake mwarĩ wa Ana ũrĩa warĩ mwarĩ wa Zibeoni: nĩ Jeushu, na Jalamu, na Kora.
And these [are] the sons of Olibema, the daughter of Ana, the son of Sebegon, the wife of Esau; and she bore to Esau, Jeus, and Jeglom, and Core.
15 Nao aya nĩo maarĩ anene thĩinĩ wa njiaro cia Esaũ: Ariũ a Elifazu irigithathi rĩa Esaũ: Anene maarĩ Temani, na Omari, na Zefo, na Kenazu,
These [are] the chiefs of the son of Esau, [even] the sons of Eliphas, the first-born of Esau; chief Thaeman, chief Omar, chief Sophar, chief Kenez,
16 na Kora, na Gatamu, na Amaleki. Acio nĩo anene arĩa Elifazu aaciarĩire kũu Edomu; maarĩ a mũrũ wa Ada.
chief Core, chief Gothom, chief Amalec. These [are] the chiefs of Eliphas, in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Ada.
17 Ariũ a Reueli mũrũ wa Esaũ: Anene maarĩ Nahathu, na Zera, na Shama, na Miza. Aya nĩo anene arĩa Reueli aaciarĩire kũu Edomu; maarĩ a mũrũ wa Basemathu mũtumia wa Esaũ.
And these [are] the sons of Raguel, the son of Esau; chief Nachoth, chief Zare, chief Some, chief Moze. These [are] the chiefs of Raguel, in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Basemath, wife of Esau.
18 Ariũ a Oholibama mũtumia wa Esaũ: Anene maarĩ Jeushu, na Jalamu, na Kora. Aya nĩo anene arĩa maaciarirwo nĩ Oholibama mũtumia wa Esaũ mwarĩ wa Ana.
And these [are] the sons of Olibema, wife of Esau; chief Jeus, chief Jeglom, chief Core. These [are] the chiefs of Olibema, daughter of Ana, wife of Esau.
19 Aya nĩo maarĩ ariũ a Esaũ (na nowe Edomu), na acio nĩo maarĩ anene ao.
These [are] the sons of Esau, and these are the chiefs; these are the sons of Edom.
20 Aya nĩo maarĩ ariũ a Seiru ũrĩa Mũhori arĩa maatũũraga bũrũri ũcio: Lotani, na Shobali, na Zibeoni, na Ana,
And these [are] the sons of Seir, the Chorrhite, who inhabited the land; Lotan, Sobal, Sebegon, Ana,
21 na Dishoni, na Ezeri, na Dishani. Ariũ acio a Seiru nĩo maarĩ anene a Ahori kũu Edomu.
and Deson, and Asar, and Rison. These [are] the chiefs of the Chorrhite, the son of Seir, in the land of Edom.
22 Ariũ a Lotani maarĩ: Hori, na Homani. Timina aarĩ mwarĩ wa nyina na Lotani.
And the sons of Lotan [were] Chorrhi and Haeman; and the sister of Lotan, Thamna.
23 Ariũ a Shobali maarĩ: Alivani, na Manahathu, na Ebali, na Shefo, na Onamu.
And these [are] the sons of Sobal; Golam, and Manachath, and Gaebel, and Sophar, and Omar.
24 Ariũ a Zibeoni maarĩ: Aia, na Ana. Ũyũ nĩwe Ana ũrĩa wonire ithima cia maaĩ mahiũ werũ-inĩ rĩrĩa arĩithagia ndigiri cia ithe Zibeoni.
And these [are] the sons of Sebegon; Aie, and Ana; this is the Ana who found Jamin in the wilderness, when he tended the beasts of his father Sebegon.
25 Ciana cia Ana ciarĩ: Dishoni, na Oholibama mwarĩ wa Ana.
And these [are] the sons of Ana; Deson—and Olibema [was] daughter of Ana.
26 Ariũ a Dishoni maarĩ: Hemudani, na Eshibani, na Itharani, na Cherani.
And these [are] the sons of Deson; Amada, and Asban, and Ithran, and Charrhan.
27 Ariũ a Ezeri maarĩ: Bilihani, na Zaavani, na Akani.
And these [are] the sons of Asar; Balaam, and Zucam, and Jucam.
28 Ariũ a Dishani maarĩ Uzu, na Arani.
And these [are] the sons of Rison; Hos, and Aran.
29 Aya nĩo maarĩ anene a Ahori: nĩ Lotani, na Shobali, na Zibeoni, na Ana,
And these [are] the chiefs of Chorri; chief Lotan, chief Sobal, chief Sebegon, chief Ana,
30 na Dishoni, na Ezeri, na Dishani. Acio nĩo maarĩ anene a Ahori, kũringana na ikundi ciao kũu bũrũri wa Seiru.
chief Deson, chief Asar, chief Rison. These [are] the chiefs of Chorri, in their principalities in the land of Edom.
31 Aya nĩo maarĩ athamaki arĩa maathamakaga Edomu o mbere ya Isiraeli gũtanagĩa na mũthamaki o na ũmwe:
these [are] the kings which reigned in Edom, before a king reigned in Israel.
32 Bela mũrũ wa Beori nĩwe watuĩkire mũthamaki wa Edomu. Itũũra rĩake inene rĩetagwo Dinihaba.
And Balac, son of Beor, reigned in Edom; and the name of his city [was] Dennaba.
33 Rĩrĩa Bela aakuire, Jobabu mũrũ wa Zera wa kuuma Bozira agĩtuĩka mũthamaki ithenya rĩake.
And Balac died; and Jobab, son of Zara, from Bosorrha reigned in his stead.
34 Rĩrĩa Jobabu aakuire, Hushamu wa kuuma bũrũri wa Atemani agĩtuĩka mũthamaki ithenya rĩake.
And Jobab died; and Asom, from the land of the Thaemanites, reigned in his stead.
35 Rĩrĩa Hushamu aakuire, Hadadi mũrũ wa Bedadi, ũrĩa wahootire Midiani kũu bũrũri wa Moabi, agĩtuĩka mũthamaki ithenya rĩake. Itũũra rĩake inene rĩetagwo Avithu.
And Asom died; and Adad son of Barad, who cut off Madiam in the plain of Moab, ruled in his stead; and the name of his city was Getthaim.
36 Rĩrĩa Hadadi aakuire, Samala wa kuuma Masereka agĩtuĩka mũthamaki ithenya rĩake.
And Adad died; and Samada of Massecca reigned in his stead.
37 Rĩrĩa Samala aakuire, Shauli wa kuuma Rehobothu, kũu gũkuhĩ na Rũũĩ rwa Farati, agĩtuĩka mũthamaki ithenya rĩake.
Samada died; and Saul of Rhooboth by the river reigned in his stead.
38 Rĩrĩa Shauli aakuire, Baali-Hanani mũrũ wa Akibori agĩtuĩka mũthamaki ithenya rĩake.
And Saul died; and Ballenon the son of Achobor reigned in his stead.
39 Rĩrĩa Baali-Hanani mũrũ wa Akibori aakuire, Hadadi agĩtuĩka mũthamaki ithenya rĩake. Itũũra rĩake inene rĩetagwo Pau, na mũtumia wake eetagwo Mehetabeli mwarĩ wa Matiredi, ũrĩa warĩ mwarĩ wa Mezahabu.
And Ballenon the son of Achobor died; and Arad the son of Barad reigned in his stead; and the name of his city was Phogor; and the name of his wife was Metebeel, daughter of Matraith, son of Maizoob.
40 Aya nĩo maarĩ anene kuuma kũrĩ njiaro cia Esaũ, kũringana na marĩĩtwa mao, na mĩhĩrĩga, na ngʼongo ciao: Timina, na Aliva, na Jethethu,
These [are] the names of the chiefs of Esau, in their tribes, according to their place, in their countries, and in their nations; chief Thamna, chief Gola, chief Jether,
41 na Oholibama, na Ela, na Pinoni,
chief Olibema, chief Helas, chief Phinon,
42 na Kenazu, na Temani, na Mibizaru,
chief Kenez, chief Thaeman, chief Mazar,
43 na Magidieli, na Iramu. Acio nĩo maarĩ anene a Edomu, kũringana na kũrĩa maatũũraga bũrũri-inĩ ũrĩa watuĩkĩte wao. Esaũ ũcio nĩwe warĩ ithe wa andũ a Edomu.
chief Magediel, chief Zaphoin. These are the chiefs of Edom in their dwelling-places in the land of their possession; this is Esau, the father of Edom.
