< Ezara 1 >

1 Na rĩrĩ, mwaka-inĩ wa mbere wa Kurusu mũthamaki wa Perisia, nĩguo kiugo kĩa Jehova kĩrĩa kĩarĩtio nĩ Jeremia kĩhiinge-rĩ, Jehova akĩarahũra ngoro ya Kurusu mũthamaki wa Perisia aanĩrĩrithie kũrĩa guothe aathamakaga, na andĩke atĩrĩ:
In the first year of Cyrus, king of Persia, Yahweh fulfilled his word that came from the mouth of Jeremiah, and stirred Cyrus's spirit. Cyrus' voice went out over his entire kingdom. This is what was written and spoken:
2 “Kurusu, mũthamaki wa Perisia ekuuga ũũ: “‘Jehova, Ngai wa igũrũ, nĩaheete mothamaki mothe ma thĩ, na nĩanyamũrĩte ndĩmwakĩre hekarũ kũu Jerusalemu bũrũri wa Juda.
“Cyrus, king of Persia, says: Yahweh, God of Heaven, gave me all the kingdoms of the earth, and he appointed me to build for him a house in Jerusalem in Judea.
3 Mũndũ wake o na ũrĩkũ ũrĩ thĩinĩ wanyu, Ngai wake aroikara hamwe nake, nĩambate athiĩ Jerusalemu kũu Juda, na aake hekarũ ya Jehova, Ngai wa Isiraeli, o we Ngai ũcio ũrĩ kũu Jerusalemu.
Whoever is from his people (may his God be with him) may go up to Jerusalem and build a house for Yahweh, the God of Israel, the God who is in Jerusalem.
4 Na rĩrĩ, andũ a kũndũ o guothe kũrĩa matigari mangĩkorwo marĩ, nĩ mamũhe betha na thahabu, na indo na mahiũ, na mĩhothi ya kwĩyendera nĩ ũndũ wa hekarũ ya Ngai ĩrĩa ĩrĩ kũu Jerusalemu.’”
People of any part of the kingdom where survivors of that land are living should provide them with silver and gold, possessions and animals, as well as a freewill offering for God's house in Jerusalem.”
5 Hĩndĩ ĩyo atongoria a nyũmba ya Juda na ya Benjamini, na athĩnjĩri-Ngai na Alawii, arĩa othe Ngai aarahũrire ngoro ciao, makĩĩhaarĩria gũthiĩ magaake nyũmba ya Jehova kũu Jerusalemu.
Then the heads of the ancestors' clans of Judah and Benjamin, the priests and Levites, and everyone whose spirit God stirred to go and build his house arose.
6 Andũ othe a matũũra mao makĩmateithĩrĩria na indo cia betha na cia thahabu, na indo ingĩ na mahiũ, na iheo cia goro, makĩria ya mĩhothi ĩrĩa yarutĩtwo ya kwĩyendera.
Those around them supported their work with silver and gold objects, possessions, animals, valuables, and freewill offerings.
7 Ningĩ Mũthamaki Kurusu akĩruta indo iria ciarĩ cia hekarũ ya Jehova, iria ciatahĩtwo nĩ Nebukadinezaru kuuma Jerusalemu ikaigwo thĩinĩ wa hekarũ ya ngai yake.
Cyrus king of Persia also released the objects belonging to Yahweh's house that Nebuchadnezzar had brought from Jerusalem and put in his own gods' houses.
8 Kurusu mũthamaki wa Perisia nĩatũmire Mithiredathu ũrĩa mũigi wa kĩgĩĩna arehe indo icio, agĩcitarĩra Sheshibazaru mũnene wa Juda.
Cyrus put them into the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, who counted them out for Sheshbazzar, Judea's leader.
9 Indo icio ciatariĩ ta ũũ: thaani nene cia thahabu ciarĩ 30 thaani nene cia betha ciarĩ 1,000 ngĩo cia betha ciarĩ 29
This was their number: thirty gold basins, one thousand silver basins, twenty-nine other basins,
10 mbakũri cia thahabu ciarĩ 30 mbakũri ihaanaine cia betha ciarĩ 410 na indo ingĩ ciarĩ 1,000.
thirty gold bowls, 410 small silver bowls, and one thousand additional objects.
11 Indo icio ciothe cia thahabu na betha ciarĩ 5,400. Sheshibazaru akĩrehe indo icio ciothe hĩndĩ ĩrĩa andũ arĩa maatahĩtwo maacookaga Jerusalemu kuuma Babuloni.
There were 5,400 gold and silver items in all. Sheshbazzar brought all of them when the exiles went from Babylon to Jerusalem.
