< Ezekieli 33 >

1 Ningĩ kiugo kĩa Jehova nĩkĩanginyĩrĩire, ngĩĩrwo atĩrĩ:
A message from the Lord came to me, saying,
2 “Mũrũ wa mũndũ, arĩria andũ anyu, ũmeere atĩrĩ: ‘Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa ngaarehithia rũhiũ rwa njora rũũkĩrĩre bũrũri, nao andũ a bũrũri ũcio methuurĩre mũndũ ũmwe wao mamũtue mũrangĩri wao,
“Son of man, tell your people: If I brought an army to attack a country, the people there would choose one of them to be their watchman.
3 nake one rũhiũ rwa njora rũgĩũka gũũkĩrĩra bũrũri ũcio, nake ahuhe karumbeta nĩgeetha amenyithie andũ mehũũge-rĩ,
When he saw the army advancing to attack the country, he would blow the trumpet to warn everyone.
4 hĩndĩ ĩyo mũndũ wothe ũrĩa ũkaigua karumbeta kau no aage kwĩhũga, naruo rũhiũ rũu rwa njora rũũke rũmũũrage-rĩ, nĩagacookererwo nĩ thakame yake mwene.
So if you hear the trumpet but don't pay attention to the warning, and you're killed in the attack, you will be responsible for your own death.
5 Kuona atĩ nĩaiguire mũgambo wa karumbeta na akĩaga kwĩhũga-rĩ, nĩagacookererwo nĩ thakame yake mwene. Korwo nĩehũũgire-rĩ, nĩangĩehonokirie we mwene.
Since you heard the trumpet but didn't pay attention to the warning, then you will be responsible for your own death. If you had paid attention the warning, you could have saved your life.
6 No rĩrĩ, mũrangĩri ũcio angĩona rũhiũ rũu rwa njora rũgĩũka, na aage kũhuha karumbeta nĩgeetha andũ mehũũge, naruo rũhiũ rũu rwa njora rũũke rũũrage ũmwe wao, mũndũ ũcio agaakua tondũ wa wĩhia wake, no niĩ-rĩ, nĩngooria mũrangĩri ũcio thakame ya mũndũ ũcio.’
But if the watchman saw the attack coming and didn't blow the trumpet to warn everyone, and someone is killed, then that person will die in their sins, but I will hold the watchman responsible for their death.
Son of man, I have appointed you as a watchman for the people of Israel. Listen to what I tell you and warn them for me.
8 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa ndeera mũndũ mwaganu atĩrĩ, ‘Wee mũndũ ũyũ mwaganu, ti-itherũ nĩũgũkua,’ nawe wage kũmũringĩrĩria atigane na mĩthiĩre ĩyo yake-rĩ, mũndũ ũcio mwaganu nĩagaakua tondũ wa wĩhia wake, no wee nĩwe ngooria thakame yake.
If I tell the wicked ‘You're wicked; you're going to die’; but you don't warn them to change what they're doing, then they'll die in their sins and I will hold your responsible for their deaths.
9 No rĩrĩ, ũngĩĩra mũndũ ũcio mwaganu ehũũge atigane na mĩthiĩre ĩyo yake, nake aage gwĩka ũguo-rĩ, nĩagaakua nĩ ũndũ wa wĩhia wake, no wee nĩũkahonokia muoyo waku.
But if you warn the wicked to change what they're doing, and they don't, they will die in their sins, but you will save your own life.
Son of man, tell the people of Israel that this is what they've been saying, ‘We recognize our sins and wrongs, and they weigh on us, wearing us out. How can we go on living?’
11 Meere ũũ, ‘Mwathani Jehova ekuuga atĩrĩ: Ti-itherũ o ta ũrĩa niĩ ndũũraga muoyo-rĩ, ndikenagio nĩ gĩkuũ kĩa andũ arĩa aaganu, no nĩ kaba magarũrũke matigane na mĩthiĩre ĩyo yao, nĩguo matũũre muoyo. Garũrũkai! Garũrũkai, mũtigane na mĩthiĩre ĩyo yanyu mĩũru! Mũgũgĩkua nĩkĩ, inyuĩ andũ a nyũmba ya Isiraeli?’
Tell them: As I live, declares the Lord God, it brings me no pleasure when wicked people die. I wish they would stop sinning and live! Stop! Stop sinning! Why should you die, people of Israel?
12 “Nĩ ũndũ ũcio, wee mũrũ wa mũndũ, ĩra andũ anyu atĩrĩ, ‘Ũthingu wa mũndũ ũrĩa mũthingu ndũkamũhonokia rĩrĩa akaaga gwathĩka, naguo waganu wa mũndũ ũrĩa mwaganu-rĩ, ndũgatũma agwe rĩrĩa akaagarũrũka atigane naguo. Mũndũ ũrĩa mũthingu angĩĩhia-rĩ, ndagetĩkĩrio atũũre muoyo nĩ ũndũ wa ũthingu ũrĩa ararĩ naguo.’
So, son of man, tell your people: All the good things a good person has done won't save them when they sin; while the bad things a bad person has done won't be a problem for them if they stop sinning. But good people won't live if they start sinning.
13 Ingĩĩra mũndũ ũrĩa mũthingu atĩ ti-itherũ nĩegũtũũra muoyo, no hĩndĩ ĩyo we mwene ehie ehokete ũthingu ũcio wake, gũtirĩ gĩĩko kĩa ũthingu o na kĩmwe kĩa iria aneeka gĩkaaririkanwo; agaakua nĩ ũndũ wa ũũru ũcio ekĩte.
If I tell a good person that they will live and then they rely on their goodness and start sinning, then none of the good things they did will be remembered; he will die because of the sins.
14 Ningĩ ingĩĩra mũndũ ũrĩa mwaganu atĩrĩ, ‘Ti-itherũ nĩũgũkua,’ nowe agarũrũke atigane na mehia make, eke maũndũ marĩa marĩ ma kĩhooto na magĩrĩire,
But if I tell a bad person, ‘You're going to die’ and they stop sinning and do what is good and right,
15 angĩcookia kĩrĩa ooete gĩa kũrũgamĩrĩra thiirĩ, na acookie kĩrĩa aiyĩte, na arũmagĩrĩre irĩra cia watho wa kũrũmĩrĩrwo iria iheanaga muoyo, na ndageke ũndũ mũũru-rĩ, ti-itherũ nĩagatũũra muoyo; ndagakua.
if they return security given for a loan, pay back what they've stolen, and follows my laws about how to live, not doing wrong—then they will live; they won't die.
None of their sins will be remembered; they have done what is good and right and so they will live.
17 “No andũ anyu moigaga atĩrĩ, ‘Njĩra ya Mwathani ti ya kĩhooto.’ No nĩ njĩra yao ĩtarĩ ya kĩhooto.
However, your people are complaining, ‘What the Lord does isn't right.’ But it's what they're doing that isn't right.
18 Mũndũ mũthingu angĩtigana na ũthingu wake eeke maũndũ mooru-rĩ, nĩagaakua nĩ ũndũ wamo.
If a good person stops doing good and sins, they will die because of it.
19 Nake mũndũ mwaganu angĩgarũrũka atigane na waganu wake, eeke maũndũ marĩa marĩ ma kĩhooto na magĩrĩire-rĩ, nĩagatũũra muoyo nĩ ũndũ wa gwĩka ũguo.
On the other hand, if a bad person turns from their sins and they do what is good and right, they will live as a result.
20 No rĩrĩ, inyuĩ andũ a nyũmba ya Isiraeli, mugaga atĩrĩ, ‘Njĩra ya Mwathani ti ya kĩhooto.’ No rĩrĩ, niĩ ngaatuĩra o mũndũ wanyu ciira kũringana na mĩthiĩre yake we mwene.”
So how can you say, ‘What the Lord does isn't right’? Well, I'm going to judge each of you depending on what you've done, people of Israel.”
On the fifth day of the tenth month of the twelfth year of our exile, a refugee who'd escaped from Jerusalem arrived and told me, “The city has been captured!”
22 Na rĩrĩ, hwaĩ-wa-ira, mũndũ ũcio ataanakinya, guoko kwa Jehova kwarĩ igũrũ rĩakwa, nake akĩhingũra kanua gakwa, mũndũ ũcio atanooka kũrĩ niĩ rũciinĩ. Nĩ ũndũ ũcio ngĩtumũrwo kanua, na ndiacookire gũkira.
The previous evening before the messenger arrived the Lord had touched me so I could speak again. This was before the man came to see me in the morning. I wasn't mute any longer—I could speak again.
23 Ningĩ kiugo kĩa Jehova gĩkĩnginyĩrĩra, ngĩĩrwo atĩrĩ:
A message from the Lord came to me, saying,
24 “Mũrũ wa mũndũ, andũ acio matũũraga kũu kwanangĩku bũrũri-inĩ wa Isiraeli maroiga atĩrĩ, ‘Iburahĩmu aarĩ o mũndũ ũmwe, no nĩegwatĩire bũrũri ũyũ. No ithuĩ tũrĩ aingĩ; ti-itherũ bũrũri ũyũ nĩ ithuĩ tũheetwo ũtuĩke igai riitũ.’
“Son of man, people living among the ruins in Israel are saying, ‘Abraham was only one man, but the country was given to him to own. There's plenty of us, so the country should belong to us.’
25 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio meere atĩrĩ, ‘Mwathani Jehova ekuuga ũũ: Kuona atĩ inyuĩ mũrĩĩaga nyama irĩ o na thakame, na mũkainamĩrĩra mĩhianano yanyu, na mũgaitithia thakame-rĩ, inyuĩ no mũkĩĩgwatĩre bũrũri ũyũ ũtuĩke wanyu?
So tell them that this is what the Lord God says: You eat meat with the blood still in it. You go and worship your idols. You commit murder. Do you really think the country should belong to you?
26 Inyuĩ mwĩhokaga rũhiũ rwanyu rwa njora, na mũgeeka maũndũ marĩ magigi, na o mũndũ wanyu agathaahia mũtumia wa mũndũ ũrĩa ũngĩ. Inyuĩ no mũkĩĩgwatĩre bũrũri ũyũ ũtuĩke wanyu?’
You rely on your swords to get your way. You have done some disgusting things. You're all having sex with each other's wives. Should the country belong to you?
27 “Meere atĩrĩ: ‘Mwathani Jehova ekuuga ũũ: Ti-itherũ o ta ũrĩa niĩ ndũũraga muoyo, acio matigaire kũu kwanangĩku makaaniinwo na rũhiũ rwa njora, nao arĩa marĩ mĩgũnda-inĩ ngaamaneana kũrĩ nyamũ cia gĩthaka imatambuurange, nao arĩa marĩ ciĩhitho-inĩ nũmu na ngurunga-inĩ makooragwo nĩ mũthiro.
Tell them that this is what the Lord God says: As I live, in the people living among the ruins will be killed by the sword. Those living in the countryside will be eaten by wild animals. Those living in the fortresses and caves will die from disease.
28 Nĩngatũma bũrũri ũcio wanangĩke ũkire ihooru, naguo hinya ũrĩa wĩtĩĩagĩra nĩũgaathira, na irĩma icio cia Isiraeli nĩigakirio ihooru, kwage mũndũ ũngĩtuĩkanĩria kuo.
I will turn the country into a wasteland, and power you are so proud of will be ended. The mountains of Israel will become wild places that no one will want to travel through.
29 Hĩndĩ ĩyo nĩmakamenya atĩ niĩ nĩ niĩ Jehova, rĩrĩa ngaananga bũrũri ũcio ũkire ihooru, nĩ ũndũ wa maũndũ marĩa mothe marĩ magigi maneeka.’
Then the people will acknowledge that I am the Lord, when I have turned the country into a wasteland because of all the disgusting things they have done.
30 “No wee mũrũ wa mũndũ-rĩ, andũ anyu maraaranĩria ũhoro waku marĩ thingo-inĩ, na mĩrango-inĩ ya nyũmba, makeerana atĩrĩ, ‘Ũkaai mũigue ndũmĩrĩri ĩrĩa yũkĩte kuuma kũrĩ Jehova.’
Son of man, your people are talking about you out in the streets and in the doorways of their houses. They encourage one another, saying, ‘Come on! Let's go and hear a message from the Lord!’
31 Andũ akwa mokaga kũrĩ we, o ta ũrĩa mamenyerete gwĩka, na magaikara thĩ mbere yaku mathikĩrĩrie ciugo ciaku, no rĩrĩ, matiĩkaga ũrĩa ciugĩte. Merutagĩra na tũnua twao, no ngoro ciao ikorokagĩra uumithio ũtarĩ wa kĩhooto.
So my people come and visit you like they usually do. They sit and listen to the message you share, but they don't do anything about it. Even though they talk about love, all they're thinking about is how to cheat others.
32 Ti-itherũ harĩ o-rĩ, wee ũtuĩkĩte o ta mũndũ ũrĩa ũinaga nyĩmbo cia wendo arĩ na mũgambo mwega, na akahũũra kĩnanda wega, nĩgũkorwo nĩmaiguaga ciugo ciaku no matiĩkaga ũrĩa ciugĩte.
In fact, to them you're just someone who sings love songs with a lovely voice and who is a fine musician. They listen to the message you share, but they don't do anything about it.
33 “Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa maũndũ macio mothe makaahinga, na ti-itherũ nĩmakahinga, hĩndĩ ĩyo nĩmakamenya atĩ thĩinĩ wao nĩ kwarĩ na mũnabii.”
So when what you say does happen (and it will), then they will realize that they did have a prophet among them.”
