1 Nake Ngai akĩaria ciugo ici ciothe, akiuga atĩrĩ:
And God spoke all these words, saying,
2 “Nĩ niĩ Jehova Ngai waku, ũrĩa wakũrutire bũrũri wa Misiri, kuuma bũrũri wa ũkombo.
I am the LORD thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 “Ndũkanagĩe na ngai ingĩ tiga niĩ.
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

5 Ndũkanacinamĩrĩre kana ũcihooe, nĩgũkorwo niĩ, Jehova Ngai waku, ndĩ Ngai ũrĩ ũiru, herithagia ciana nĩ ũndũ wa mehia ma maithe mao nginya rũciaro rwa gatatũ na rwa kana rwa andũ arĩa maathũire,
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
8 “Ririkanaga mũthenya wa Thabatũ ũwamũrage.
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Rutaga wĩra waku wothe mĩthenya ĩtandatũ,

But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy male servant, nor thy female servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day: therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they trembled, and stood afar off.
19 na makĩĩra Musa atĩrĩ, “Twarĩrie arĩ we, na nĩtũgũkũigua, no tiga kũreka twarĩrio nĩ Ngai, tũtigakue.”
And they said to Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.
20 Musa akĩĩra andũ acio atĩrĩ, “Tigai gwĩtigĩra. Ngai okĩte kũmũgeria, nĩgeetha mũtũũre mwĩtigĩrĩte Ngai, mwagage kwĩhia.”
And Moses said to the people, Fear not: for God is come to test you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.
21 Andũ acio magĩgĩikara o haraaya, nowe Musa agĩthengerera harĩa haarĩ nduma ndumanu, harĩa Ngai aarĩ.
And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was.
22 Ningĩ Jehova akĩĩra Musa atĩrĩ, “Ĩra andũ a Isiraeli ũndũ ũyũ: ‘Nĩmweyonera inyuĩ ene atĩ ndaaria na inyuĩ ndĩ o igũrũ:

23 Mũtikanathondeke ngai ingĩ cia kũhooyagwo hamwe na niĩ; mũtikanethondekere ngai cia betha kana ngai cia thahabu.
Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make to you gods of gold.
An altar of earth thou shalt make to me, and shalt sacrifice on it thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thy oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come to thee, and I will bless thee.
25 Mũngĩnjakĩra kĩgongona kĩa mahiga, mũtigagĩake na mahiga marĩa maacũhie, nĩgũkorwo mũngĩgaatũmĩra kĩndũ gĩa gwacũhia nĩmũgagĩthaahia.
And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou shalt lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.
26 Mũtikanahaice kĩgongona gĩakwa na ngathĩ, nĩguo njaga yanyu ndĩkanonekanĩre ho.’
Neither shalt thou go up by steps to my altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered on it.
