< Kohelethu 2 >

1 Ndeĩrire na ngoro yakwa atĩrĩ, “Atĩrĩrĩ, ũka rĩu, nĩngũkũgeria na ikeno nĩgeetha nyone nĩ ũndũ ũrĩkũ mwega.” No rĩrĩ, o naguo ũndũ ũcio warĩ o wa tũhũ.
Therfor Y seide in myn hertez, Y schal go, and Y schal flowe in delicis, and Y schal vse goodis; and Y siy also that this was vanyte.
2 Ningĩ ngiuga atĩrĩ, “Mĩtheko o nayo nĩ ũrimũ. Naguo ũhoro wa gwĩkenia-rĩ, ngĩĩyũria nĩ wa bata ũrĩkũ?”
And leiyyng Y arrettide errour, and Y seide to ioye, What art thou disseyued in veyn?
3 Ndaageririe ũrĩa ingĩkenia mwĩrĩ wakwa na ndibei, o ndongoretio nĩ ngoro yakwa na ũũgĩ, ngĩhĩmbĩria ũkĩĩgu, ngĩenda kũmenya nĩ ũndũ ũrĩkũ andũ maagĩrĩirwo nĩ gwĩka gũkũ thĩ matukũ-inĩ o macio manini ma muoyo wao.
I thouyte in myn herte to withdrawe my fleisch fro wyn, that Y schulde lede ouer my soule to wisdom, and that Y schulde eschewe foli, til Y schulde se, what were profitable to the sones of men; in which dede the noumbre of daies of her lijf vndur the sunne is nedeful.
4 Nĩndarutire mawĩra manene: Ngĩĩyakĩra nyũmba, na ngĩĩhaandĩra mĩgũnda ya mĩthabibũ.
Y magnefiede my werkis, Y bildide housis to me, and Y plauntide vynes; Y made yerdis and orcherdis,
5 Nĩndathondekire mĩgũnda na kũndũ gwa kũhurũkwo, na ngĩhaanda mĩtĩ ya mĩthemba yothe ya matunda kuo.
and Y settide tho with the trees of al kynde;
6 Ngĩcooka ngĩhingĩrĩria tũria twa maaĩ twa kuunithagĩria maaĩ kũrĩa mĩtĩ ĩyo yakũragĩra.
and Y made cisternes of watris, for to watre the wode of trees growynge.
I hadde in possessioun seruauntis and handmaidis; and Y hadde myche meynee, and droues of grete beestis, and grete flockis of scheep, ouer alle men that weren bifore me in Jerusalem.
8 Nĩndacookanĩrĩirie betha na thahabu, na indo cia bata iria cia athamaki o na cia mabũrũri. Ningĩ ngĩgĩa na aini a arũme na a andũ-a-nja, o na thuriya nyingĩ mũno: maũndũ marĩa makenagia ngoro ya mũndũ.
Y gaderide togidere to me siluer and gold, and the castels of kingis and of prouyncis; Y made to me syngeris and syngeressis, and delicis of the sones of men, and cuppis and vessels in seruyce, to helde out wynes;
9 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio ngĩneneha na ngĩtonga mũno gũkĩra arĩa othe maarĩ Jerusalemu mbere yakwa. Thĩinĩ wa maũndũ macio mothe-rĩ, ũũgĩ wakwa ndaarĩ o naguo.
and Y passide in richessis alle men, that weren bifor me in Jerusalem. Also wisdom dwellide stabli with me,
10 Naguo ũndũ o wothe ũrĩa maitho makwa meriragĩria ndierigagĩrĩria kũwĩka; o na ningĩ ngoro yakwa ndiamĩrigĩrĩirie gĩkeno o na kĩrĩkũ. Nĩgũkorwo ngoro yakwa nĩyakenagĩra mawĩra makwa mothe, naguo ũndũ ũcio nĩguo warĩ irĩhi rĩa wĩra wakwa wothe.
and alle thingis whiche myn iyen desiriden, Y denyede not to hem; nether Y refreynede myn herte, that ne it vside al lust, and delitide it silf in these thingis whiche I hadde maad redi; and Y demyde this my part, if Y vside my trauel.
11 No rĩrĩa ndaarorire mawĩra marĩa mothe ndaarutĩte na moko makwa, o na ũrĩa ndetungumanĩtie ngĩmaruta, ngĩona atĩ maũndũ mothe nĩ ma tũhũ, no ta gũtengʼeria rũhuho; gũtirĩ kĩndũ mũndũ angĩĩguna nakĩo gũkũ thĩ.
And whanne Y hadde turned me to alle werkis whiche myn hondys hadden maad, and to the trauels in whiche Y hadde swet in veyn, Y siy in alle thingis vanyte and turment of the soule, and that no thing vndir sunne dwellith stabli.
I passide to biholde wisdom, errours, and foli; Y seide, What is a man, that he may sue the king, his maker?
13 Hĩndĩ ĩyo ngĩkĩona atĩ ũũgĩ nĩ mwega gũkĩra ũkĩĩgu, o ta ũrĩa ũtheri ũrĩ mwega gũkĩra nduma.
And Y siy, that wisdom yede so mych bifor foli, as miche as liyt is dyuerse fro derknessis.
14 Mũndũ ũrĩa mũũgĩ nĩonaga kũrĩa arathiĩ, no mũndũ mũkĩĩgu athiiagĩra nduma-inĩ; no ngĩcooka ngĩmenya atĩ o eerĩ makoragwo nĩ ũndũ o ro ũmwe.
The iyen of a wijs man ben in his heed, a fool goith in derknessis; and Y lernede, that o perisching was of euer either.
15 Hĩndĩ ĩyo ngĩkiuga na ngoro yakwa atĩrĩ, “Ũndũ ũrĩa ũkoraga mũndũ mũkĩĩgu o na niĩ no ũkaangora. Ũũgĩ wakwa-rĩ, ũkĩngʼunĩte na kĩ?” Ngĩkiuga atĩrĩ na ngoro yakwa, “Ũndũ ũyũ o naguo no wa tũhũ.”
And Y seide in myn herte, If o deth schal be bothe of the fool and of me, what profitith it to me, that Y yaf more bisynesse to wisdom? And Y spak with my soule, and perseyuede, that this also was vanyte.
16 Nĩgũkorwo mũndũ ũrĩa mũũgĩ, o ta mũndũ ũrĩa mũkĩĩgu, ndagatũũra aririkanagwo; nĩgũkorwo matukũ-inĩ marĩa magooka o eerĩ nĩmakariganĩra. Hĩ, mũndũ ũrĩa mũũgĩ akuuaga o ta mũndũ ũrĩa mũkĩĩgu!
For mynde of a wijs man schal not be, in lijk maner as nether of a fool with outen ende, and tymes to comynge schulen hile alle thingis togidere with foryetyng; a lerned man dieth in lijk maner and an vnlerned man.
17 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio ngĩthũũra gũtũũra muoyo, tondũ wĩra ũrĩa ũrutagwo gũkũ thĩ kwaraga riũa warĩ wa kũnjiguithia kĩeha. Wothe warĩ wa tũhũ, o ta gũtengʼeria rũhuho.
And therfor it anoiede me of my lijf, seynge that alle thingis vndur sunne ben yuele, and that alle thingis ben vanyte and turment of the spirit.
18 Ngĩgĩthũũra maũndũ mothe marĩa ndenogeetie namo gũkũ thĩ kwaraga riũa, tondũ no nginya ngaamatigĩra ũrĩa ũgooka thuutha wakwa.
Eft Y curside al my bisynesse, bi which Y trauelide moost studiousli vndur sunne, and Y schal haue an eir after me,
19 Ningĩ nũũ ũũĩ kana ũcio ũgooka ithenya rĩakwa agaakorwo arĩ mũndũ mũũgĩ kana arĩ mũndũ mũkĩĩgu? No rĩrĩ, nĩwe ũkaarũgamĩrĩra wĩra ũrĩa ndaanetungumania naguo ngĩtũmagĩra ũũgĩ wakwa gũkũ thĩ kwaraga riũa. Ũndũ ũcio o naguo no wa tũhũ.
whom Y knowe not, whether he schal be wijs ether a fool; and he schal be lord in my trauels, for whiche Y swatte greetli, and was bisi; and is ony thing so veyn?
20 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio ngoro yakwa ĩkĩambĩrĩria kũũrwo nĩ hinya nĩ ũndũ wa wĩra wakwa wothe wa mĩnoga ũrĩa ndaarutaga gũkũ thĩ kwaraga riũa.
Wherfor Y ceesside, and myn herte forsook for to trauele ferthere vnder sunne.
21 Tondũ mũndũ no arute wĩra wake na ũũgĩ, na ũmenyo, na kũũhĩgĩra maũndũ, no rĩrĩ, no nginya acooke atige kĩrĩa gĩothe agĩĩta nakĩo kũrĩ mũndũ ũngĩ ũtakĩnogeire. Ũndũ ũyũ o naguo no wa tũhũ, na nĩ mũtino mũnene.
For whi whanne another man trauelith in wisdom, and techyng, and bisynesse, he leeueth thingis getun to an idel man; and therfor this is vanyte, and greet yuel.
22 Mũndũ-rĩ, nĩ uumithio ũrĩkũ oonaga harĩ wĩra ũrĩa wothe arutaga, na mĩnoga, na gwĩtungumania kũrĩa anetungumania nakuo gũkũ thĩ kwaraga riũa?
For whi what schal it profite to a man of al his trauel, and turment of spirit, bi which he was turmentid vndur sunne?
23 Nĩgũkorwo matukũ make mothe, wĩra wake nĩ wa ruo na kĩeha; o na ũtukũ, meciiria make matihurũkaga. Ũndũ ũcio o naguo no wa tũhũ.
Alle hise daies ben ful of sorewis and meschefs, and bi nyyt he restith not in soule; and whether this is not vanyte?
24 Mũndũ-rĩ, ndarĩ ũndũ ũngĩ mwega angĩĩka ũkĩrĩte kũrĩa na kũnyua, na gũkenera wĩra wake. Ũndũ ũyũ o naguo ngĩona atĩ uumĩte guoko-inĩ kwa Ngai,
Whether it is not betere to ete and drynke, and to schewe to hise soule goodis of hise trauels? and this thing is of the hond of God.
25 nĩ ũndũ-rĩ, nũũ ũngĩhota kũrĩa kana gũkena Ngai atarĩ ho?
Who schal deuoure so, and schal flowe in delicis, as Y dide?
26 Ngai aheaga mũndũ ũrĩa ũmũkenagia maũndũ ma ũũgĩ, na ũmenyo, na gĩkeno, no mũndũ ũrĩa mwĩhia akamũhe wĩra wa gũcookanĩrĩria na kwĩigĩra ũtonga, nĩguo acooke aũnenganĩre kũrĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũmũkenagia. Ũndũ ũcio o naguo no wa tũhũ, o ta gũtengʼeria rũhuho.
God yaf wisdom, and kunnyng, and gladnesse to a good man in his siyt; but he yaf turment, and superflu bisynesse to a synnere, that he encreesse, and gadere togidere, and yyue to hym that plesith God; but also this is vanyte, and veyn bisynesse of soule.
