Then we turned and went up the way to Bashan. Og, the king of Bashan, came and attacked us, he and all his people, to fight at Edrei.
2 Nake Jehova akĩnjĩĩra atĩrĩ, “Ndũkamwĩtigĩre, nĩ ũndũ nĩndĩmũneanĩte hamwe na mbũtũ ciake ciothe cia ita na bũrũri wake moko-inĩ maku. Mwĩke o ũrĩa wekire Sihoni mũthamaki wa Aamori, ũrĩa waathanaga Heshiboni.”
Yahweh said to me, 'Do not fear him; for I have given you victory over him and have put all his people and his land under your control. You will do to him as you did to Sihon, king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.'
So Yahweh our God also gave us victory over Og the king of Bashan, and all his people were put under our control. We struck them down until not one of his people remained.
4 Ihinda-inĩ rĩu tũkĩmatunya matũũra mao mothe. Gũtirĩ itũũra o na rĩmwe rĩa matũũra mao mĩrongo ĩtandatũ tũtaamatunyire, marĩa maarĩ bũrũri-inĩ ũcio wothe wa Arigobu, ũthamaki-inĩ wa Ogu kũu Bashani.
We took all his cities at that time. There was not one of the sixty cities that we did not take from them—all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
5 Matũũra macio mothe maarĩ mairigĩre na hinya, na thingo ndaaya na igũrũ, na ihingo ciarĩ na mĩgĩĩko, na ningĩ no kwarĩ tũtũũra tũingĩ tũtaarĩ tũirigĩre.
These were all cities fortified with high walls, gates, and bars; this was besides very many unwalled villages.
We completely destroyed them, as we did to Sihon king of Heshbon, completely destroying every city—men and the women and the little ones.
7 No mahiũ mothe na indo iria twatahire kuuma matũũra macio mao manene nĩtwacioire tũgĩthiĩ nacio.
But all the cattle and the spoil of the cities, we took as spoils for ourselves.
8 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio ihinda-inĩ rĩu nĩtwatunyanire bũrũri ũrĩa warĩ irathĩro rĩa Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani, kuuma kũrĩ athamaki acio eerĩ a Aamori, naguo uumĩte kĩanda kĩa Arinoni nginya kĩrĩma-inĩ kĩa Herimoni.
At that time we took the land out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan, from the Valley of the Arnon to Mount Hermon
9 (Kĩrĩma kĩa Herimoni gĩĩtagwo Sirioni nĩ Asidoni; nao Aamori magĩĩtaga Seniru.)
(Mount Hermon the Sidonians call Sirion, and the Amorites call it Senir)
and all the cities of the plain, all Gilead, and all Bashan, all the way to Salekah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.”
11 (No Ogu mũthamaki wa Bashani wiki watigarire harĩ matigari ma Arefai.
(For of the remnant of the Rephaim, only Og king of Bashan had remained. Look! His bed was a bed of iron. Was it not in Rabbah, where the descendants of Ammon live? It was nine cubits long and four cubits wide, the way people measure.)
12 Naguo bũrũri ũrĩa twatunyanire hĩndĩ ĩyo-rĩ, nĩndagaĩire andũ a Rubeni na a Gadi bũrũri ũrĩa warĩ gathigathini wa Aroeri kũnyiitana na kĩanda kĩa Arinoni, hamwe na nuthu ya bũrũri ũrĩa ũrĩ irĩma wa Gileadi, o hamwe na matũũra makuo.
“This land that we took in possession at that time—from Aroer, that is by the Valley of the Arnon, and half the hill country of Gilead, and its cities—I gave to the Reubenites and to the Gadites.
The rest of Gilead and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half tribe of Manasseh. (All the region of Argob, and all Bashan. The same territory is called the land of Rephaim.
14 Jairu, wa rũciaro rwa Manase, nĩegwatĩire bũrũri wothe wa Arigobu o nginya mũhaka-inĩ wa Ageshuru na Amaakathi; nakuo gũgĩĩtanio nake, nĩ ũndũ ũcio Bashani gwĩtagwo Havothu-Jairu o nginya ũmũthĩ.)
Jair, a descendant of Manasseh, took all the region of Argob to the border of the Geshurites and the Maakathites. He called the region, even Bashan, by his own name, Havvoth Jair, to this day.)
15 Na nĩndaheanire Gileadi kũrĩ Makiru.
I gave Gilead to Machir.
16 No andũ a Rubeni na a Gadi ndaamaheire bũrũri ũrĩa uumĩte Gileadi ũgaikũrũka nginya kĩanda kĩa Arinoni (mũhaka warĩ gatagatĩ ga kĩanda kĩu), ũgacooka ũgakinya rũũĩ-inĩ rwa Jaboku, arĩ ruo mũhaka wa Aamoni.
To the Reubenites and to the Gadites I gave territory from Gilead to the Valley of the Arnon—the middle of the valley is the territory's border—and to the Jabbok River, which is the border with the descendants of Ammon.
17 Mũhaka wakuo wa mwena wa ithũĩro warĩ Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani kũu Araba, kuuma Kinerethu nginya Iria-inĩ rĩa Araba (nĩrĩo Iria rĩa Cumbĩ), mũhuro wa iharũrũka cia Pisiga.
Another of its borders is also the plain of the Jordan River valley, from Kinnereth to the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Salt Sea) to the slopes of Mount Pisgah eastward.
18 Hĩndĩ ĩyo nĩndamwathire ngĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Jehova Ngai wanyu nĩamũheete bũrũri ũyũ mũwĩgwatĩre. No andũ anyu arĩa marĩ na hinya, arĩa meeohete indo cia mbaara, no nginya maringe mũrĩmo ũrĩa ũngĩ mbere ya andũ a Isiraeli ariũ a ithe wanyu.
I commanded you at that time, saying, 'Yahweh your God has given you this land to possess it; you, all the men of war, will pass over armed before your brothers, the people of Israel.
19 No rĩrĩ, atumia anyu, na ciana cianyu, o na ũhiũ wanyu (nĩnjũũĩ nĩ mũrĩ na ũhiũ mũingĩ) no maikare matũũra-inĩ marĩa ndĩmũheete,
But your wives, your little ones, and your cattle (I know that you have much cattle), will stay in your cities that I have given you,
20 nginya rĩrĩa Jehova akaahe ariũ a thoguo ũhurũko ta ũrĩa amũheete inyuĩ, nao makorwo meyoeire bũrũri ũrĩa Jehova Ngai wanyu ekũmahe, mũrĩmo ũrĩa ũngĩ wa Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani. Thuutha ũcio-rĩ, o mũndũ wanyu no acooke handũ harĩa ndĩmũheete mwĩgwatĩre hatuĩke hanyu.”
until Yahweh gives rest to your brothers, as he has to you, until they also possess the land that Yahweh your God is giving them beyond the Jordan; then will you return, every man of you, to your own property that I have given you.'
21 Ningĩ ngĩatha Joshua ngĩmwĩra atĩrĩ: “Nĩwĩoneire na maitho maku ũrĩa wothe Jehova Ngai wanyu ekĩte athamaki acio eerĩ. Ũguo noguo Jehova ageeka mothamaki marĩa mothe marĩ kũndũ kũu mũrathiĩ.
I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, 'Your eyes have seen all that Yahweh your God has done to these two kings; Yahweh will do the same to all the kingdoms where you go over.
22 Ndũkanametigĩre; Jehova Ngai wanyu nĩwe ũrĩmũrũagĩrĩra.”
You will not fear them, for Yahweh your God is the one who will fight for you.'
23 Hĩndĩ ĩyo nĩndathaithire Jehova ngĩmwĩra atĩrĩ:
I implored Yahweh at that time, saying,
24 “We Mwathani Jehova, nĩwambĩrĩirie kuonia ndungata yaku ũnene waku na hinya wa guoko gwaku. Nĩ ũndũ-rĩ, nĩ ngai ĩrĩkũ igũrũ kana thĩ ĩngĩĩka ciĩko cia hinya ta iria wee wĩkaga?
'O Lord Yahweh, you have begun to show your servant your greatness and your strong hand; for what god is there in heaven or in earth that can do the same works as you have done, and the same mighty acts?
25 Reke ninge kũndũ kũu mũrĩmo wa Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani ngeyonere bũrũri mwega, bũrũri ũcio mwega ũrĩ irĩma o na bũrũri wa Lebanoni.”
Let me go over, I beg you, and see the good land that is beyond the Jordan, that good hill country, and also Lebanon.'
26 No nĩ ũndũ wanyu-rĩ, Jehova nĩandakarĩire na ndangĩathikĩrĩirie. Jehova akiuga atĩrĩ, “Reke ũhoro ũcio ũkinye hau, ndũkanjarĩrie rĩngĩ ũndũ wĩgiĩ ũhoro ũcio.
But Yahweh was angry with me because of you; he did not listen to me. Yahweh said to me, 'Let this be enough for you—speak no more to me about this matter:
27 Ambata gacũmbĩrĩ ga kĩrĩma kĩa Pisiga wĩrorere mwena wa ithũĩro, na wa gathigathini, na wa gũthini, o na wa irathĩro. Wĩrorere bũrũri ũcio na maitho maku, nĩ ũndũ ndũkũringa rũũĩ rũrũ rwa Jorodani.
go up to the top of Pisgah and lift up your eyes westward, northward, southward, and eastward; look with your eyes, for you will not go over the Jordan.
28 No rĩrĩ, taara Joshua, na ũmũũmĩrĩrie, na ũmwĩkĩre hinya, nĩgũkorwo nĩwe ũgaatongoria andũ aya maringe mathiĩ mũrĩmo ũrĩa ũngĩ, na atũme magae bũrũri ũcio ũkuona.”
Instead, instruct Joshua and encourage and strengthen him, for he will go over before this people, and he will cause them to inherit the land that you will see.'
29 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio tũgĩikara kũu gĩtuamba-inĩ hakuhĩ na Bethi-Peori.
So we stayed in the valley opposite Beth Peor.
