1 Musa na athuuri a Isiraeli nĩ maathire andũ, makĩmeera atĩrĩ: “Rũmiai maathani maya mothe ndĩramũhe ũmũthĩ.
Then Moses and the elders of Israel instructed the people, saying: “Keep each commandment that I instruct to you this day.
2 Mwarĩkia kũringa Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani mũtoonye bũrũri ũrĩa Jehova Ngai wanyu ekũmũhe-rĩ, mũkaahaanda mahiga manene na mũmathinge na rĩũmba.
And when you have crossed over the Jordan, into the land which the Lord your God will give to you, you shall erect immense stones, and you shall coat them with plaster,
3 Mũkaandĩka igũrũ rĩamo ciugo ciothe cia watho ũyũ mwarĩkia kũringa mũrĩmo ũũrĩa ũngĩ mũtoonye bũrũri ũcio Jehova Ngai wanyu ekũmũhe, bũrũri ũrĩ bũthi wa iria na ũũkĩ, o ta ũrĩa Jehova Ngai wa maithe manyu aamwĩrĩire.
so that you may be able to write upon them all the words of this law, when you have crossed the Jordan so as to enter into the land which the Lord your God will give to you, a land flowing with milk and honey, just as he swore to your fathers.
4 Na mwarĩkia kũringa Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani, mũkaahaanda mahiga macio kĩrĩma-inĩ kĩa Ebali, ta ũrĩa ndĩramwatha ũmũthĩ, na mũmathinge na rĩũmba.
Therefore, when you have crossed over the Jordan, erect the stones, just as I instruct you to do this day, on Mount Ebal. And you shall coat them with plaster,
5 Ningĩ mũgaakĩra Jehova Ngai wanyu kĩgongona, kĩgongona kĩa mahiga. Mũtikanahũthĩre kĩndũ o gĩothe gĩa kĩgera mahiga-inĩ macio.
and you shall build, in that place, an altar to the Lord your God out of stones which have not been touched by iron,
6 Mũgaakĩra Jehova Ngai wanyu kĩgongona na mahiga moimĩte mũgũnda, na mũrutĩre Jehova Ngai wanyu maruta ma njino igũrũ wakĩo.
out of stones which have not been hewn or polished. And you shall offer holocausts on it to the Lord your God.
7 Mũkarutĩra indo cia magongona ma ũiguano o hau, mũcirĩe mũgĩkenagĩra o hau mbere ya Jehova Ngai wanyu.
And you shall immolate peace victims. And you shall eat and feast in that place, in the sight of the Lord your God.
8 Na nĩmũkandĩka ciugo ciothe cia watho ũyũ mahiga-inĩ macio mũkaahaanda na ndemwa ikuoneka wega.”
And you shall write upon the stones all the words of this law, plainly and clearly.”
9 Nake Musa na athĩnjĩri-Ngai, arĩa maarĩ Alawii, makĩĩra andũ othe a Isiraeli atĩrĩ, “Ta kirai, inyuĩ andũ a Isiraeli, na mũthikĩrĩrie! Rĩu nĩmũtuĩkĩte andũ a Jehova Ngai wanyu.
And Moses and the priests of Levitical stock said to all of Israel: “Attend and listen, O Israel! Today you have become the people of the Lord your God.
10 Athĩkĩrai Jehova Ngai wanyu na mũrũmĩrĩre maathani make na kĩrĩra kĩa watho wake wa kũrũmĩrĩrwo ũrĩa ndĩramũhe ũmũthĩ.”
You shall listen to his voice, and you shall do the commandments and justices, which I am entrusting to you.”
11 Mũthenya o ro ũcio, Musa agĩatha andũ acio, akĩmeera atĩrĩ:
And Moses instructed the people in that day, saying:
12 Mwarĩkia kũringa Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani, mĩhĩrĩga ĩno nĩĩkarũgama kĩrĩma igũrũ kĩa Gerizimu ĩrathime andũ: Nĩ mũhĩrĩga wa Simeoni, na wa Lawi, na wa Juda, na wa Isakaru, na wa Jusufu na wa Benjamini.
“These shall stand upon Mount Gerizim, as a blessing to the people, when you will have crossed the Jordan: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin.
13 Nayo mĩhĩrĩga ĩno nĩĩkarũgama kĩrĩma igũrũ kĩa Ebali yanĩrĩre irumi: Nĩ mũhĩrĩga wa Rubeni, na wa Gadi, na wa Asheri, na wa Zebuluni, na wa Dani na wa Nafitali.
And in the opposite region, there shall stand upon Mount Ebal, as a curse: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.
14 Nao Alawii nĩmakoiga ciugo na mũgambo mũnene, meere andũ othe a Isiraeli atĩrĩ:
And the Levites shall pronounce and declare to all the men of Israel, with an exalted voice:
15 “Kũgwatwo nĩ kĩrumi-rĩ, nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũicũhagia mũhianano kana agatwekia mũhianano, kĩndũ kĩ magigi harĩ Jehova, wĩra wa moko ma mũbundi, na akahaanda kĩndũ kĩu na hitho.”
Cursed be the man who makes a graven or molten idol, an abomination to the Lord, a work of the hands of its maker, and who puts it in a secret place. And all the people shall respond by saying: Amen.
16 “Kũgwatwo nĩ kĩrumi-rĩ, nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũtatĩĩaga ithe kana nyina.”
Cursed be he who does not honor his father and mother. And all the people shall say: Amen.
17 “Kũgwatwo nĩ kĩrumi-rĩ, nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa weheragia ihiga rĩa mũhaka wake na mũndũ wa itũũra.”
Cursed be he who removes his neighbor’s landmarks. And all the people shall say: Amen.
18 “Kũgwatwo nĩ kĩrumi-rĩ, nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũhĩtithagia mũtumumu njĩra.”
Cursed be he who causes the blind to go astray on a journey. And all the people shall say: Amen.
19 “Kũgwatwo nĩ kĩrumi-rĩ, nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũtaciiragĩra mũndũ wa kũngĩ, kana mwana wa ngoriai, kana mũtumia wa ndigwa na kĩhooto.”
Cursed be he who subverts the judgment of the new arrival, the orphan, or the widow. And all the people shall say: Amen.
20 “Kũgwatwo nĩ kĩrumi-rĩ, nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũkomaga na mũtumia wa ithe, nĩgũkorwo nĩ ũrĩrĩ wa ithe aagĩire gĩtĩĩo.”
Cursed be he who lies with his father’s wife, and so exposes the covering of his bed. And all the people shall say: Amen.
21 “Kũgwatwo nĩ kĩrumi-rĩ, nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũngĩkoma na nyamũ o yothe.”
Cursed be he who lies with any beast. And all the people shall say: Amen.
22 “Kũgwatwo nĩ kĩrumi-rĩ, nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũkomaga na mwarĩ wa nyina, kana na mwarĩ wa ithe.”
Cursed be he who lies with his sister, the daughter of his father, or of his mother. And all the people shall say: Amen.
23 “Kũgwatwo nĩ kĩrumi-rĩ, nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũkomaga na nyina wa mũtumia wake.”
Cursed be he who lies with his mother-in-law. And all the people shall say: Amen.
24 “Kũgwatwo nĩ kĩrumi-rĩ, nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũragaga mũndũ wa itũũra rĩake na hitho.”
Cursed be he who secretly strikes down his neighbor. And all the people shall say: Amen.
25 “Kũgwatwo nĩ kĩrumi-rĩ, nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa wamũkagĩra ihaki nĩguo oorage mũndũ ũtarĩ na ihĩtia.”
Cursed be he who accepts gifts in order to strike down the life of innocent blood. And all the people shall say: Amen.
26 “Kũgwatwo nĩ kĩrumi-rĩ, nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũtarĩrũmagia ciugo cia watho ũyũ na ũndũ wa gũcihingia.”
Cursed be he who does not remain in the words of this law, and does not carry them out in deed. And all the people shall say: Amen.”
