1 Mũndũ angĩhikia mũtumia na age gũkenio nĩwe nĩ ũndũ wa kũmuona na ũndũ ũtagĩrĩire, nake mũndũ ũcio amwandĩkĩre marũa ma ndigano, amũnengere na amũingate oime gwake mũciĩ,
When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give [it] in her hand, and send her out of his house.
2 na thuutha wa kuuma gwake mũciĩ, mũtumia ũcio atuĩke mũtumia wa mũndũ ũngĩ,
And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man’s [wife].
3 nake mũthuuriwe ũcio wa keerĩ age kũmwenda, na amwandĩkĩre marũa ma ndigano, amũnengere na amũingate oime gwake mũciĩ, kana mũthuuri ũcio wa keerĩ akue,
And [if] the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth [it] in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her [to be] his wife;
4 mũthuuri wake ũrĩa warĩ wa mbere, ũrĩa wamũingatire, ndetĩkĩrĩtio kũmũhikia rĩngĩ thuutha wa gũkorwo arĩkĩtie gũthũkio. Ũcio ũngĩtuĩka ũndũ ũrĩ thaahu maitho-inĩ ma Jehova. Mũtikanarehe wĩhia bũrũri-inĩ ũcio Jehova Ngai wanyu aramũhe ũtuĩke igai rĩanyu.
Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that [is] abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee [for] an inheritance.
5 Mũndũ angĩkorwo no hĩndĩ arahikanirie, ndakanatũmwo mbaara-inĩ kana aheo wĩra ũngĩ o wothe. Ihinda rĩa mwaka mũgima, nĩarekwo aikare mũciĩ ambe akenie mũtumia wake ũcio ahikĩtie.
When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: [but] he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.
6 Ndũkanoe mahiga meerĩ ma gĩthĩi ma mũndũ ũrĩ na thiirĩ waku, o na kana ũthiĩ na ihiga rĩa igũrũ riiki atĩ nĩguo rĩrũgamĩrĩre thiirĩ ũcio, nĩ ũndũ gwĩka ũguo no ta kuoya muoyo wa mũndũ ũcio.
No man shall take the nether or the upper millstone to pledge: for he taketh [a man’s] life to pledge.
7 Mũndũ angĩnyiitwo aiyĩte mũrũ wa ithe Mũisiraeli akamũtua ta ngombo kana akamwendia, mũici ũcio no nginya ooragwo. No nginya mũniine ũũru wehere gatagatĩ-inĩ kanyu.
If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and maketh merchandise of him, or selleth him; then that thief shall die; and thou shalt put evil away from among you.
8 Ha ũhoro wa mĩrimũ ya mangũ, mwĩmenyagĩrĩrei mũno gwĩka o ũrĩa athĩnjĩri-Ngai, o acio Alawii, makaamũruta. No nginya mũrũmĩrĩre wega ũrĩa ndĩmathĩte.
Take heed in the plague of leprosy, that thou observe diligently, and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you: as I commanded them, [so] ye shall observe to do.
9 Ririkanai ũrĩa Jehova Ngai wanyu eekire Miriamu mũrĩ njĩra-inĩ mwarĩkia kuuma bũrũri wa Misiri.
Remember what the LORD thy God did unto Miriam by the way, after that ye were come forth out of Egypt.
10 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa ũngĩkombithia mũndũ wa itũũra kĩndũ o gĩothe, ndũkanatoonye nyũmba yake, ũgĩĩre kĩrĩa eranĩire atĩ nĩakaruta kĩrũgamĩrĩre.
When thou dost lend thy brother any thing, thou shalt not go into his house to fetch his pledge.
11 Ikara nja ũreke mũndũ ũcio ũkombithĩtie kĩndũ akũrehere kĩrĩa eranĩire hau nja.
Thou shalt stand abroad, and the man to whom thou dost lend shall bring out the pledge abroad unto thee.
12 Mũndũ ũcio angĩkorwo arĩ mũthĩĩni, ndũkanaraarie kĩu eeranĩire.
And if the man [be] poor, thou shalt not sleep with his pledge:
13 Mũcookerie kabuti gake riũa rĩtanathũa nĩgeetha ehumbe agĩkoma. Hĩndĩ ĩyo nĩagagũcookeria ngaatho, naguo ũndũ ũcio nĩũkonwo ũrĩ gĩĩko kĩa ũthingu maitho-inĩ ma Jehova Ngai waku.
In any case thou shalt deliver him the pledge again when the sun goeth down, that he may sleep in his own raiment, and bless thee: and it shall be righteousness unto thee before the LORD thy God.
14 Ndũkanahinyirĩrie mũndũ wa kũrĩhwo ũrĩa mũthĩĩni na mũbatari, arĩ mũrũ wa ithe wanyu Mũisiraeli kana mũndũ wa kũngĩ ũtũũraga itũũra rĩmwe rĩa matũũra manyu.
Thou shalt not oppress an hired servant [that is] poor and needy, [whether he be] of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that [are] in thy land within thy gates:
15 Mũrĩhe mũcaara wake wa o mũthenya riũa rĩtanathũa, nĩ ũndũ nĩ mũthĩĩni na mũcaara ũcio nĩguo ehokete. Kwaga ũguo, aahota gũkaĩra Jehova igũrũ rĩaku, nawe woneke wĩhĩtie harĩ Jehova.
At his day thou shalt give [him] his hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it; for he [is] poor, and setteth his heart upon it: lest he cry against thee unto the LORD, and it be sin unto thee.
16 Maithe ma ciana matikooragwo nĩ ũndũ wa mahĩtia ma ciana ciao, kana ciana ciũragwo nĩ ũndũ wa mahĩtia ma maithe; o mũndũ arĩkuaga nĩ ũndũ wa mehia make mwene.
The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
17 Ndũkanaagithie mũndũ wa kũngĩ kana mwana wa ngoriai kĩhooto ciira-inĩ, kana woe kabuti ka mũtumia wa ndigwa karũgamĩrĩre thiirĩ.
Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of the stranger, [nor] of the fatherless; nor take a widow’s raiment to pledge:
18 Ririkanaga warĩ ngombo bũrũri wa Misiri, na Jehova Ngai waku nĩagũkũũrire ũkiuma kuo. Nĩkĩo ndĩragwatha wĩkage ũguo.
But thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt, and the LORD thy God redeemed thee thence: therefore I command thee to do this thing.
19 Rĩrĩa ũkũgetha mũgũnda waku, ũngĩriganĩrwo nĩ gĩtĩĩa, ndũgagĩcookere. Gĩtigĩre mũndũ wa kũngĩ, na mwana wa ngoriai, na mũtumia wa ndigwa, nĩgeetha Jehova Ngai waku akũrathimage wĩra-inĩ wothe wa moko maku.
When thou cuttest down thine harvest in thy field, and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hands.
20 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa ũkũhũrũra ndamaiyũ kuuma mĩtĩ-inĩ yaku, tigaga gũcookera honge ciaguo riita rĩa keerĩ. Tigagĩria andũ a kũngĩ, na ciana cia ngoriai, na mũtumia wa ndigwa matigari.
When thou beatest thine olive tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.
21 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa ũkũgetha thabibũ mũgũnda waku wa mĩthabibũ, ndũgacooke kũhaara rĩngĩ iria ciatigwo. Tigagĩra mũndũ wa kũngĩ, na ciana cia ngoriai, na mũtumia wa ndigwa matigari.
When thou gatherest the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean [it] afterward: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.
22 Ririkanaga atĩ warĩ ngombo bũrũri wa Misiri. Nĩkĩo ndĩragwatha wĩkage ũguo.
And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt: therefore I command thee to do this thing.
