The Levitical priests—indeed the whole tribe of Levi—shall have no portion or inheritance with Israel. They are to eat the offerings made by fire to the LORD; that is their inheritance.
2 Matikagaya igai gatagatĩ ka ariũ a ithe wao; nĩgũkorwo Jehova nĩwe igai rĩao, o ta ũrĩa aamerĩire.
Although they have no inheritance among their brothers, the LORD is their inheritance, as He promised them.
3 Indo ici nĩcio athĩnjĩri-Ngai magĩrĩirwo nĩ kũheagwo ciumĩte kũrĩ andũ arĩa marĩrutaga igongona rĩa ndegwa kana rĩa ngʼondu: nĩ guoko, na thĩĩa cierĩ, na nyama cia nda.
This shall be the priests’ share from the people who offer a sacrifice, whether a bull or a sheep: the priests are to be given the shoulder, the jowls, and the stomach.
4 No nginya mũmaheage maciaro ma mbere ma ngano yanyu, na ma ndibei yanyu ya mũhihano, na maguta, o na guoya wa mbere wa ngʼondu cianyu cienjwo,
You are to give them the firstfruits of your grain, new wine, and oil, and the first wool sheared from your flock.
5 nĩgũkorwo Jehova Ngai wanyu nĩamathuurĩte hamwe na njiaro ciao kuuma harĩ mĩhĩrĩga yanyu yothe, nĩgeetha marũgamage magatungataga thĩinĩ wa Rĩĩtwa rĩa Jehova hĩndĩ ciothe.
For the LORD your God has chosen Levi and his sons out of all your tribes to stand and minister in His name for all time.
6 Mũlawii angĩthaama, oime kũrĩa atũũraga itũũra-inĩ rĩmwe rĩa matũũra manyu thĩinĩ wa Isiraeli, na oke endete mũno gũkinya handũ harĩa Jehova agaathuura-rĩ,
Now if a Levite moves from any town of residence throughout Israel and comes in all earnestness to the place the LORD will choose,
7 no atungate thĩinĩ wa rĩĩtwa rĩa Jehova Ngai wake, o ta Alawii arĩa angĩ arĩa matungataga hau mbere ya Jehova.
then he shall serve in the name of the LORD his God like all his fellow Levites who stand there before the LORD.
8 Nake akaagaĩrwo indo ciiganaine na cia arĩa angĩ, o na gũtuĩka nĩamũkĩrĩte mbeeca ciumanĩte na kwendia indo cia nyũmba yao.
They shall eat equal portions, even though he has received money from the sale of his father’s estate.
9 Rĩrĩa mũgaathiĩ bũrũri ũrĩa Jehova Ngai wanyu ekũmũhe, mũtikanerute maũndũ ma kwĩgerekania na mĩthiĩre ĩrĩa ĩrĩ magigi ya ndũrĩrĩ iria irĩ kuo.
When you enter the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not imitate the detestable ways of the nations there.
10 Rekei gũtikanoneke mũndũ thĩinĩ wanyu ũkũruta igongona rĩa gũcina mũriũ kana mwarĩ, kana ũkũragũra, kana ũkũrogana, kana mũtuĩria wa nyoni ya mũndũ, kana mũndũ-mũgo,
Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, practices divination or conjury, interprets omens, practices sorcery,
11 kana mũrogani wa ithitũ, kana mũndũ ũrĩ na maroho ma kũragũra, kana mũrogi, o na kana mũndũ ũkaragũra na maroho ma andũ akuũ.
casts spells, consults a medium or spiritist, or inquires of the dead.
12 Mũndũ ũrĩa wĩkaga maũndũ macio nĩonagwo arĩ magigi nĩ Jehova, na nĩ ũndũ wa maũndũ macio marĩ magigi, nĩkĩo Jehova Ngai wanyu ekũrutũrũra ndũrĩrĩ icio ciehere mbere yanyu.
For whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD. And because of these detestable things, the LORD your God is driving out the nations before you.
13 Inyuĩ no nginya mũtuĩke andũ matarĩ ũcuuke mbere ya Jehova Ngai wanyu.
You must be blameless before the LORD your God.
14 Ndũrĩrĩ iria mũgaatunya bũrũri-rĩ, nĩithikagĩrĩria arogi na andũ arĩa maragũraga. No inyuĩ, Jehova Ngai wanyu ndamwĩtĩkĩrĩtie gwĩka ũguo.
Though these nations, which you will dispossess, listen to conjurers and diviners, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do so.
15 Jehova Ngai wanyu nĩakamũtũmĩra mũnabii o ta niĩ kuuma harĩ ariũ a thoguo. No nginya mũmũiguage.
The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You must listen to him.
16 Nĩgũkorwo ũguo nĩguo mworirie Jehova Ngai wanyu mũrĩ kũu Horebu mũthenya ũrĩa muonganĩte, rĩrĩa mwoigire atĩrĩ, “Ndũkareke tũigue mũgambo wa Jehova Ngai witũ, kana tuone mwaki ũcio mũnene rĩngĩ, nĩgeetha tũtigakue.”
This is what you asked of the LORD your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly, when you said, “Let us not hear the voice of the LORD our God or see this great fire anymore, so that we will not die!”
17 Jehova aanjĩĩrire atĩrĩ: “Ũguo moiga nĩ wega.
Then the LORD said to me, “They have spoken well.
18 Nĩngamarahũrĩra mũnabii o tawe oime thĩinĩ wa ariũ a ithe wao; na nĩngekĩra ciugo ciakwa kanua gake, nake nĩakameera ũrĩa wothe ngaamwatha.
I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers. I will put My words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him.
19 Mũndũ o wothe ũkaarega kũigua ciugo ciakwa iria mũnabii ũcio akaaria thĩinĩ wa rĩĩtwa rĩakwa-rĩ, niĩ mwene nĩ niĩ ngamũũria ũhoro ũcio.
And I will hold accountable anyone who does not listen to My words that the prophet speaks in My name.
20 No rĩrĩ, mũnabii ũrĩa ũkaaria ũndũ o na ũrĩkũ na mwĩgerero akĩgwetaga rĩĩtwa rĩakwa, oige ũndũ itamwathĩte, kana mũnabii ũrĩa ũkaaria akĩgwetaga rĩĩtwa rĩa ngai ingĩ, no nginya akooragwo.”
But if any prophet dares to speak a message in My name that I have not commanded him to speak, or to speak in the name of other gods, that prophet must be put to death.”
21 Mwahota kwĩyũria atĩrĩ, “Tũngĩkĩmenya atĩa rĩrĩa ndũmĩrĩri ĩtaarĩtio nĩ Jehova?”
You may ask in your heart, “How can we recognize a message that the LORD has not spoken?”
22 Ũndũ ũrĩa mũnabii angĩaria rĩĩtwa-inĩ rĩa Jehova, naguo ũndũ ũcio wage kuoneka kana kũhinga, ĩyo nĩ ndũmĩrĩri ĩtaarĩtio nĩ Jehova. Mũnabii ũcio aarĩtie na mwĩgerero. Mũtikanamwĩtigĩre.
When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD and the message does not come to pass or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.
