1 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa mũthenya wa Bendegothito wakinyire-rĩ, acio othe magĩkorwo maarĩ handũ hamwe.
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.
Suddenly a sound like a mighty rushing wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3 Makĩona kĩndũ gĩatariĩ ta nĩnĩmbĩ cia mwaki iria ciagayũkanĩte igĩikara igũrũ rĩa mũndũ o mũndũ.
They saw tongues like flames of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
4 Othe makĩiyũrio Roho Mũtheru na makĩambĩrĩria kwaria na thiomi ingĩ o ta ũrĩa Roho aamahotithirie.
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
5 Na rĩrĩ, kũu Jerusalemu nĩ gwaikaraga Ayahudi etigĩri Ngai kuuma ndũrĩrĩ-inĩ ciothe cia thĩ.
Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven.
6 Rĩrĩa maiguire mũgambo ũcio, gĩkundi kĩa andũ gĩgĩcookanĩrĩra kĩgegete, tondũ o mũndũ aamaiguaga makĩaria na rũthiomi rwake kĩũmbe.
And when this sound rang out, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking his own language.
7 Nao makĩgega mũno, makĩũrania atĩrĩ, “Githĩ andũ aya othe maraaria ti andũ a Galili?
Astounded and amazed, they asked, “Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans?
8 Nĩ kĩĩ kĩratũma mũndũ o mũndũ witũ amaigue makĩaria na rũthiomi rwa kũrĩa aaciarĩirwo?
How is it then that each of us hears them in his own native language?
9 Andũ a Parithi, na a Media, na a Elamu; o na andũ arĩa matũũraga Mesopotamia, na Judea, na Kapadokia, na Ponto, na Asia,
Parthians, Medes, and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome,
both Jews and converts to Judaism; Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!”
12 Mamakĩte na makagega makĩũrania atĩrĩ, “Ũũ nĩ kuuga atĩa?”
Astounded and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”
But others mocked them and said, “They are drunk on new wine!”
14 Hĩndĩ ĩyo Petero akĩrũgama hamwe na arĩa ikũmi na ũmwe, akĩanĩrĩra na akĩarĩria gĩkundi kĩu kĩa andũ akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Inyuĩ andũ aitũ Ayahudi o na inyuĩ inyuothe mũtũũraga Jerusalemu, rekei ndĩmũtaarĩrie ũhoro ũyũ; thikĩrĩriai wega ũrĩa nguuga.
Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, lifted up his voice, and addressed the crowd: “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen carefully to my words.
15 Andũ aya ti arĩĩu, ta ũrĩa mũreciiria. Rĩu nĩ thaa ithatũ tu cia rũciinĩ!
These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It is only the third hour of the day!
16 Aca gũtitariĩ ta ũguo, ũhoro ũyũ nĩguo warĩtio nĩ mũnabii Joeli, akiuga atĩrĩ:
No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17 “‘Ngai ekuuga atĩrĩ, matukũ-inĩ ma kũrigĩrĩria nĩngaitĩrĩria andũ othe Roho wakwa. Ariũ na aarĩ anyu nĩmakarathaga mohoro, Aanake anyu nĩmakonaga cioneki, nao athuuri anyu marootage irooto.
‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out My Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
18 O na ningĩ nĩngaitĩrĩria ndungata ciakwa cia arũme na cia andũ-a-nja Roho wakwa matukũ-inĩ macio, nacio nĩikarathaga mohoro.
Even on My menservants and maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.
19 Nĩngonania morirũ kũu igũrũ matu-inĩ, na nyonanie ciama gũkũ thĩ, cia thakame, na cia mwaki, na cia ndogo ĩkwambata.
I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.
20 Riũa nĩrĩkagarũrwo rĩtuĩke nduma, naguo mweri ũtuĩke ta thakame, mbere ya mũthenya ũcio mũnene wa Mwathani ũrĩa ũrĩ riiri gũkinya.
The sun will be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the coming of the great and glorious Day of the Lord.
21 Na nĩgũgakinya atĩrĩ, atĩ mũndũ wothe ũgaakaĩra rĩĩtwa rĩa Mwathani nĩakahonokio.’
And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’
22 “Inyuĩ andũ aya a Isiraeli, thikĩrĩriai ũhoro ũyũ: Jesũ wa Nazarethi aarĩ mũndũ waheanĩtwo nĩ Ngai kũrĩ inyuĩ na ũndũ wa ciama, na morirũ, na cionereria, iria Ngai aaringire gatagatĩ-inĩ kanyu agereire harĩ we, o ta ũrĩa inyuĩ ene mũũĩ.
Men of Israel, listen to this message: Jesus of Nazareth was a man certified by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs, which God did among you through Him, as you yourselves know.
He was delivered up by God’s set plan and foreknowledge, and you, by the hands of the lawless, put Him to death by nailing Him to the cross.
24 No Ngai akĩmũriũkia kuuma kũrĩ arĩa akuũ, akĩmuohora ruo-inĩ rwa gĩkuũ, tondũ gũtingĩahotekire atũũre anyiitĩtwo nĩkĩo.
But God raised Him from the dead, releasing Him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for Him to be held in its clutches.
25 Tondũ Daudi oigire atĩrĩ ũhoro wake: “‘Nĩndonaga Mwathani arĩ mbere yakwa hĩndĩ ciothe. Tondũ arĩ guoko-inĩ gwakwa kwa ũrĩo-rĩ, ndingĩenyenyeka.
David says about Him: ‘I saw the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
26 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio ngoro yakwa nĩnjanjamũku, naruo rũrĩmĩ rwakwa rũgakena; o naguo mwĩrĩ wakwa nĩũgũtũũra ũrĩ na mwĩhoko,
Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will dwell in hope,
27 tondũ ndũkandiganĩria mbĩrĩra-inĩ, o na kana ũreke ũrĩa waku Mũtheru abuthe. (Hadēs g86)
because You will not abandon my soul to Hades, nor will You let Your Holy One see decay. (Hadēs g86)
28 Nĩũũmenyithĩtie njĩra cia muoyo; nĩũkanjiyũria gĩkeno ndĩ harĩa ũrĩ.’
You have made known to me the paths of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence.’
29 “Ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, no ndĩmwĩre ndĩ na ũũmĩrĩru atĩ ithe witũ Daudi nĩakuire na agĩthikwo, na mbĩrĩra yake ĩrĩ o gũkũ nginya ũmũthĩ ũyũ.
Brothers, I can tell you with confidence that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that He would place one of his descendants on his throne.
31 Nĩ ũndũ nĩamenyete ũhoro ũcio mbere, nĩaririe ũhoro wa kũriũka gwa Kristũ, atĩ ndaatiganĩirio mbĩrĩra-inĩ, o na kana mwĩrĩ wake ũkĩbutha. (Hadēs g86)
Foreseeing this, David spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that He was not abandoned to Hades, nor did His body see decay. (Hadēs g86)
32 Ngai nĩariũkĩtie Jesũ ũcio, na ithuĩ ithuothe tũrĩ aira a ũhoro ũcio.
God has raised this Jesus to life, to which we are all witnesses.
Exalted, then, to the right hand of God, He has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.
34 Nĩgũkorwo Daudi ndaambatire agĩthiĩ igũrũ, no nĩoigire atĩrĩ, “‘Mwathani nĩeerire Mwathani wakwa atĩrĩ: “Ikara guoko-inĩ gwakwa kwa ũrĩo,
For David did not ascend into heaven, but he himself says: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand
35 o nginya rĩrĩa ngaatua thũ ciaku gaturwa ka makinya maku.”’
until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”’
36 “Nĩ ũndũ ũcio andũ othe a Isiraeli nĩmamenye atĩrĩ: Ngai nĩ atuĩte Jesũ, o ũcio mwambire, Mwathani na Kristũ.”
Therefore let all Israel know with certainty that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ!”
37 Rĩrĩa andũ maiguire ũhoro ũcio, ũkĩmatheeca ngoro, makĩũria Petero na atũmwo acio angĩ atĩrĩ, “Ariũ a Baba, twagĩrĩirwo nĩ gwĩka atĩa?”
When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and asked Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
38 Nake Petero akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, “Mwĩrirei na mũbatithio mũndũ o mũndũ thĩinĩ wa rĩĩtwa rĩa Jesũ Kristũ, nĩguo mũrekerwo mehia manyu. Na inyuĩ nĩ mũkwamũkĩra kĩheo kĩa Roho Mũtheru.
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 Kĩĩranĩro gĩkĩ nĩ kĩanyu na ciana cianyu, na andũ arĩa othe marĩ kũraya, na andũ arĩa othe Mwathani Ngai witũ ageeta moke harĩ we.”
This promise belongs to you and your children and to all who are far off—to all whom the Lord our God will call to Himself.”
40 Akĩmataara na ciugo ingĩ nyingĩ, akĩmakaanagia; na akĩmathaitha, akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Mwĩhonokiei kuuma kũrĩ rũciaro rũrũ ruogomu.”
With many other words he testified, and he urged them, “Be saved from this corrupt generation.”
41 Andũ arĩa meetĩkĩrire ndũmĩrĩri yake makĩbatithio, na mũthenya ũcio makĩongerereka andũ ta ngiri ithatũ.
Those who embraced his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to the believers that day.
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
43 Andũ othe makĩiyũrwo nĩ guoya, nao atũmwo magĩĩka morirũ maingĩ, na makĩringa ciama.
A sense of awe came over everyone, and the apostles performed many wonders and signs.
44 Andũ arĩa othe meetĩkĩtie maarĩ hamwe, na nĩmagwatanagĩra indo ciothe.
All the believers were together and had everything in common.
45 Makĩendia ithaka ciao na indo ciao, makaheaga mũndũ o wothe kũringana na bata wake.
Selling their possessions and goods, they shared with anyone who was in need.
46 O mũthenya nĩmagomanaga hekarũ-inĩ. Nĩmenyũraga mũgate marĩ mĩciĩ-inĩ yao, na makarĩĩanĩra marĩ na gĩkeno, na marĩ na ngoro theru,
With one accord they continued to meet daily in the temple courts and to break bread from house to house, sharing their meals with gladness and sincerity of heart,
47 makagoocaga Ngai, na magetĩkĩrĩka kũrĩ andũ othe. Nake Mwathani nĩongagĩrĩra thiritũ-inĩ yao andũ arĩa maahonokaga o mũthenya.
praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
