Now there were in the church at Antioch, several prophets and teachers; Barnabas, and Simon called Niger, and Lucius who was from the city Cyrene, and Menaen, a son of the guardians of Herod the Tetrarch, and Saul.
2 Rĩrĩa mahooyaga Mwathani mehingĩte kũrĩa irio, Roho Mũtheru akiuga atĩrĩ, “Nyamũrĩrai Baranaba na Saũlũ nĩ ũndũ wa wĩra ũrĩa ndĩmetĩire.”
And while they were fasting and making supplication to God, the Holy Spirit said to them: Separate to me Saul and Barnabas, for the work to which I have called them.
And after they had fasted and prayed, they laid the hand on them, and sent them away.
4 Andũ acio eerĩ, matũmĩtwo nĩ Roho Mũtheru, magĩthiĩ nginya Seleukia na makĩhaica marikabu makiuma kũu magĩthiĩ nginya Kuporo.
And they, being sent forth by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia, and from there they went by sea as far as Cyprus.
5 Rĩrĩa maakinyire Salamisi, makĩhunjia kiugo kĩa Ngai thunagogi-inĩ cia Ayahudi. Nake Johana aarĩ hamwe nao arĩ ta mũteithia wao.
And when they entered the city of Salamis, they announced the word of our Lord in the synagogues of the Jews. And John ministered to them.
And when they had travelled over the whole island as far as the city Paphos, they found a certain man, a sorcerer, a Jew, who was a false prophet, and whose name was Bar-Suma.
7 nake aatungatagĩra barũthi ũrĩa wetagwo Serigio Paũlũ. Barũthi ũcio warĩ mũndũ mũũgĩ, agĩtũmanĩra Baranaba na Saũlũ tondũ nĩendaga kũigua kiugo kĩa Ngai.
He adhered to a wise man, who was the proconsul, and was called Sergius Paulus. And the proconsul sent for Saul and Barnabas, and requested to hear from them the word of God.
8 No rĩrĩ, Elumo ũcio mũragũri (amu ũguo nĩguo rĩĩtwa rĩake riugĩte) akĩmakararia na akĩgeria kũgarũra barũthi ũcio nĩgeetha ndagetĩkie.
And this sorcerer, Bar-Suma, (whose name is interpreted, Elymas, ) withstood them; because he wished to divert the proconsul from the faith.
9 Hĩndĩ ĩyo Saũlũ, ũrĩa wetagwo na rĩĩtwa rĩngĩ Paũlũ aiyũrĩtwo nĩ Roho Mũtheru, agĩkũũrĩra Elumo maitho, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ,
And Saul who is called Paul, was filled with the Holy Spirit; and he looked upon him,
and said: O thou full of all subtilties, and all mischiefs, thou child of the calumniator, and enemy of all righteousness; wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?
And now, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, and shalt not see the sun for a time. And immediately there fell upon him a mist and darkness; and he went about, inquiring who would take him by the hand.
12 Nake barũthi oona ũrĩa gwekĩka, agĩĩtĩkia, nĩgũkorwo nĩagegirio nĩ ũrutani ũcio ũkoniĩ Mwathani.
And when the proconsul saw what occurred, he was astonished; and he believed the doctrine of the Lord.
13 Paũlũ na andũ arĩa maarĩ nao, moima Pafo makĩhaica marikabu magĩthiĩ Periga kũu bũrũri wa Pamufilia, kũrĩa Johana aamatigire agĩcooka Jerusalemu.
And Paul and Barnabas went by sea, from the city of Paphos, and came to Perga, a city of Pamphylia. And John separated from them, and went away to Jerusalem.
And they departed from Perga, and came to Antioch, a city of Pisidia: and they entered the synagogue, on the sabbath day, and sat down.
15 Thuutha wa gũthomwo kwa Maandĩko ma Watho na ma Anabii, anene a thunagogi makĩmatũmanĩra makĩmeera atĩrĩ; “Ariũ a Ithe witũ, angĩkorwo mũrĩ na ũhoro wa kũũmĩrĩria andũ-rĩ, maarĩriei.”
And after the law had been read, and the prophets, the Elders of the synagogue sent to them, and said: Men, brethren, if ye have a word of exhortation, address the people.
16 Paũlũ akĩrũgama, na aarĩkia kũmakiria na guoko akĩmeera atĩrĩ: “Andũ aya a Isiraeli o na inyuĩ andũ-a-Ndũrĩrĩ arĩa mũhooyaga Ngai, ta thikĩrĩriai!
And Paul arose, and waved his hand, and said: Men, sons of Israel, and ye that fear God, hear ye.
17 Ngai wa andũ a Isiraeli nĩathuurire maithe maitũ; agĩtũma andũ acio matheereme hĩndĩ ĩrĩa maatũũraga Misiri, na akĩmaruta bũrũri ũcio na hinya mũnene,
The God of this people chose our fathers, and raised them up, and multiplied them, when they resided in the land of Egypt; and, with a high arm, he brought them out of it.
18 nĩakirĩrĩirie mĩtugo yao ihinda rĩa ta mĩaka mĩrongo ĩna marĩ werũ-inĩ,
And he fed them in the wilderness forty years.
19 akĩniina ndũrĩrĩ mũgwanja kũu Kaanani naguo bũrũri wacio akĩũhe andũ aake ũtuĩke igai rĩao.
And he extirpated seven nations in the land of Canaan, and gave them their land for an inheritance.
20 Ũhoro ũcio wothe wekĩkire ihinda-inĩ rĩa ta mĩaka magana mana ma mĩrongo ĩtano. “Thuutha wa ũguo, Ngai akĩmahe atiirĩrĩri bũrũri o nginya hĩndĩ ya Samũeli ũrĩa warĩ mũnabii.
And for four hundred and fifty years he gave them judges, until Samuel the prophet.
21 Hĩndĩ ĩyo andũ makiuga maheo mũthamaki, nake Ngai akĩmahe Saũlũ mũrũ wa Kishu, wa mũhĩrĩga wa Benjamini, nake agĩathana mĩaka mĩrongo ĩna.
And then they asked for themselves a king: and God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, during forty years.
22 Thuutha wa kweheria Saũlũ, agĩtua Daudi mũthamaki wao. Akĩruta ũira ũmũkoniĩ, akiuga atĩrĩ, ‘Nĩnyonete Daudi mũrũ wa Jesii arĩ mũndũ ũkenagia ngoro yakwa; we nĩarĩĩkaga ũrĩa wothe ngwenda eke.’
And he removed him, and raised up to them David as king: and he testified of him, and said: I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after my heart: he will do all my pleasure.
23 “Kuuma rũciaro-inĩ rwa mũndũ ũyũ, Ngai nĩareheire andũ a Isiraeli Mũhonokia, na nĩwe Jesũ, o ta ũrĩa eeranĩire.
From the seed of this man, hath God raised up to Israel, as he promised, Jesus a deliverer.
And, before his advent, he sent John to proclaim the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
25 Na rĩrĩa Johana aarĩkagia wĩra wake nĩoririe atĩrĩ: ‘Mwĩciiragia niĩ nĩ niĩ ũũ? Niĩ ti niĩ we. Aca niĩ ti niĩ, nowe nĩegũũka thuutha wakwa, o we ũrĩa niĩ itagĩrĩirwo kuohora ndigi cia iraatũ ciake.’
And while John was fulfilling his ministry, he said: Who, suppose ye, that I am? I am not he. But lo, he cometh after me; of whom I am not worthy to untie his shoe-strings.
26 “Ariũ a Ithe witũ, o inyuĩ ciana cia Iburahĩmu, o na inyuĩ andũ-a-Ndũrĩrĩ arĩa mwĩtigĩrĩte Ngai, ũhoro ũyũ wa ũhonokio nĩ ithuĩ tũtũmĩirwo.
Men, brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and all who, with you, fear God, to you is this word of life sent.
27 Andũ a Jerusalemu na anene ao matiakũũranire Jesũ, no nĩ ũndũ wa ũrĩa maamũtuĩrĩire ciira, makĩhingia ciugo cia anabii iria ithomagwo o mũthenya wa Thabatũ.
For, those inhabitants of Jerusalem and their chiefs, did not apprehend it; neither did they apprehend also the writings of the prophets, which are read every sabbath; but they condemned him, and fulfilled all the things written.
28 O na gũtuĩka mationire gĩtũmi kĩiganu gĩa gũtũma ooragwo, nĩmathaithire Pilato aathane ooragwo.
And while they found no ground for his death, they desired of Pilate that they might kill him.
29 Na maarĩkia kũhingia maũndũ mothe marĩa maandĩkĩtwo ũhoro wake, makĩmũcurũria kuuma mũtĩ-igũrũ, makĩmũiga mbĩrĩra.
And when they had fulfilled all that was written concerning him, they took him down from the cross, and laid him in a sepulchre.
30 No rĩrĩ, Ngai nĩamũriũkirie kuuma kũrĩ arĩa akuũ,
But God raised him from the dead.
31 na kwa ihinda rĩa mĩthenya mĩingĩ nĩonirwo nĩ andũ arĩa moimĩte nao Galili, magathiĩ Jerusalemu. Na rĩu acio nĩo aira aake kũrĩ andũ aitũ.
And he was seen many days, by them who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem; and they are now his witnesses to the people.
32 “Tũramwĩra ũhoro mwega: Ũhoro ũrĩa Ngai eerĩire maithe maitũ,
And lo, we also announce to you, that the promise, which was made to our fathers,
lo, God hath fulfilled it to us their children, in that he raised up Jesus; as it is written in the second psalm: Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
34 Naguo ũhoro wa ma wa atĩ Ngai nĩamũriũkirie kuuma kũrĩ arĩa akuũ nĩguo ndakabuthe-rĩ, nĩ warĩtio na ciugo ici: “‘Nĩngakũhe irathimo iria theru na iria itarĩ hĩndĩ ingĩaga iria cierĩirwo Daudi.’
And God hath so raised him from the dead, that he will not return again and see corruption; as he said: I will give to you the sure grace of David.
35 Ũndũ ũcio nĩwarĩtio handũ hangĩ atĩrĩ: “‘Wee ndũkareka ũrĩa waku Mũtheru abuthe.’
And again he said, in another place: Thou hast not given thy devout one to see corruption.
36 “Nĩgũkorwo rĩrĩa Daudi aarĩkirie gũtungatĩra Ngai rũciaro-inĩ rwake, nĩakuire; agĩthikwo hamwe na maithe make naguo mwĩrĩ wake ũkĩbutha.
For David, in his generation, served the pleasure of God, and went to rest, and was added to his fathers, and saw corruption.
37 No ũrĩa Ngai aariũkirie kuuma kũrĩ arĩa akuũ ndaabuthire.
But this person, whom God raised up, did not see corruption.
Know therefore, brethren, that through this man remission of sins is proclaimed to you.
39 Na mũndũ wothe ũmwĩtĩkĩtie nĩatuuagwo mũthingu maũndũ-inĩ mothe marĩa watho wa Musa ũtangĩamũtuire mũthingu.
And every one that believeth in this man, is made just from all things, from which ye could not be made just by the law of Moses.
40 Mwĩmenyererei, nĩgeetha ũhoro ũrĩa anabii maaririe ndũkanamũkore, rĩrĩa moigire atĩrĩ:
Beware, therefore, lest that come upon you, which is written in the prophets:
41 “‘Ta rorai, inyuĩ anyũrũrania, gegaai na mũthire, nĩgũkorwo nĩngwĩka ũndũ matukũ-inĩ manyu, ũrĩa mũtangĩtĩkia, o na mũngĩĩrwo nĩ mũndũ.’”
Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish; for I work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though a man relate it to you.
42 Rĩrĩa Paũlũ na Baranaba moimaga thunagogi, andũ makĩmeera moke mũthenya ũrĩa warũmĩrĩire wa Thabatũ nĩguo mathiĩ na mbere kwaria ũhoro ũcio.
And when they had gone from them, they besought them to speak the same things to them the next sabbath day.
And when the synagogue was dismissed, many Jews went after them, and likewise proselytes who feared God. And they conversed with them, and persuaded them to adhere to the grace of God.
44 Mũthenya ũcio ũngĩ warũmĩrĩire wa Thabatũ, hakuhĩ andũ othe a itũũra rĩu inene magĩũka kũigua kiugo kĩa Mwathani.
And the next sabbath, the whole city assembled to hear the word of God.
45 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa Ayahudi moonire kĩrĩndĩ kĩu, makĩnyiitwo nĩ ũiru na makĩaria ciugo njũru cia gũũkĩrĩra ũrĩa Paũlũ oigaga.
And when the Jews saw the great assembly, they were filled with envy, and set them selves against the words which Paul spoke, and blasphemed.
And Paul and Barnabas said openly: To you first, ought the word of God to be spoken; but because ye repel it from you, and decide, against yourselves, that ye are not worthy of life eternal, lo, we turn ourselves to the Gentiles. (aiōnios )
47 Nĩgũkorwo Mwathani atwathĩte agatwĩra atĩrĩ: “‘Nĩndĩmũtuĩte ũtheri wa gũtherera andũ-a-Ndũrĩrĩ, nĩguo mũtware ũhoro wa ũhonokio nginya ituri-inĩ cia thĩ.’”
For so hath our Lord commanded us; as it is written: I have set thee a light to the Gentiles; that thou shouldst be for life unto the ends of the earth.
48 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa andũ-a-Ndũrĩrĩ maaiguire ũguo magĩkena na magĩtĩĩa kiugo kĩa Mwathani, nao andũ arĩa othe maathĩrĩirio muoyo-inĩ wa tene na tene magĩĩtĩkia. (aiōnios )
And when the Gentiles heard this, they rejoiced and glorified God. And those believed, who were appointed to life eternal. (aiōnios )
49 Nakĩo kiugo kĩa Mwathani gĩkĩhunja kũndũ guothe kũu bũrũri-inĩ.
And the word of the Lord was talked of in all that region.
50 No Ayahudi magĩakĩrĩria atumia arĩa meyamũrĩire Ngai na maarĩ igweta, o na anene a itũũra inene.
But the Jews stirred up the chiefs of the city, and the opulent women who with them feared God, and set up a persecution against Paul and against Barnabas, and expelled them from their borders.
51 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio makĩribariba rũkũngũ kuuma magũrũ mao kuonania, atĩ nĩmatigana nao na magĩthiĩ Ikonia.
And when they went out, they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and went to the city of Iconium.
And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Spirit.
