< 2 Samũeli 5 >

1 Na rĩrĩ, mĩhĩrĩga yothe ya Isiraeli ĩgĩthiĩ kũrĩ Daudi kũu Hebironi ĩkĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Ithuĩ tũrĩ a mũthiimo waku na thakame yaku.
Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron, saying, "Look, we are your bone and your flesh.
2 Ihinda rĩrĩa Saũlũ aarĩ mũthamaki witũ-rĩ, wee nĩwe watongoragia mbũtũ cia Isiraeli igĩthiĩ ita. Nake Jehova agĩkwĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Wee nĩũgatuĩka mũrĩithi wa andũ akwa a Isiraeli, na ũtuĩke mwathi wao.’”
In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. The LORD said to you, 'You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be ruler over Israel.'"
3 Rĩrĩa athuuri othe a Isiraeli maathiĩte Hebironi kũrĩ Mũthamaki Daudi, mũthamaki nĩagĩire na kĩrĩkanĩro nao mbere ya Jehova o kũu Hebironi, nao magĩitĩrĩria Daudi maguta mũtwe atuĩke mũthamaki wa Isiraeli.
So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD; and they anointed David king over Israel.
4 Daudi aarĩ na ũkũrũ wa mĩaka mĩrongo ĩtatũ rĩrĩa aatuĩkire mũthamaki, na agĩthamaka mĩaka mĩrongo ĩna.
David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.
5 Aathamakĩire Juda mĩaka mũgwanja na mĩeri ĩtandatũ arĩ Hebironi, na agĩthamaka Isiraeli guothe mĩaka mĩrongo ĩtatũ na ĩtatũ arĩ Jerusalemu.
In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months; and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.
6 Mũthamaki na andũ ake magĩthiĩ Jerusalemu magatharĩkĩre Ajebusi, arĩa matũũraga kuo. Nao Ajebusi makĩĩra Daudi atĩrĩ, “Ndũgũtoonya gũkũ; tondũ andũ arĩa megũkũgirĩrĩria ũtoonye nĩ arĩa atumumu na cionje.” Tondũ meĩraga atĩrĩ, “Daudi ndangĩhota gũtoonya kuo.”
Then the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who said to David, "You will not get in here." For the blind and the lame incited them, saying, "David can't get in here."
7 No rĩrĩ, Daudi nĩatunyanire kĩĩhitho kĩa hinya gĩa Zayuni, na nĩkĩo gĩĩtagwo itũũra inene rĩa Daudi.
Nevertheless, David captured the stronghold of Zion (that is, the City of David).
8 Mũthenya o ro ũcio Daudi akiuga atĩrĩ, “Mũndũ wothe ũngĩtooria Ajebusi no agerire mũtaro-inĩ wa maaĩ nĩguo akinyĩre andũ acio ‘mathuaga na atumumu’ o acio thũ cia Daudi.” Kĩu nĩkĩo gĩtũmaga moige atĩrĩ, “‘Andũ atumumu na arĩa mathuaga’ matigatoonya nyũmba ya ũthamaki.”
David said on that day, "Whoever strikes the Jebusites, let him get up to the watercourse, and strike the lame and the blind, those who hate the soul of David." Therefore they say, "The blind and the lame can't come into the palace."
9 Nake Daudi agĩtũũra kĩĩhitho-inĩ kĩu kĩa hinya, agĩgĩtua itũũra inene rĩa Daudi. Nake Daudi agĩakĩrĩra itũũra rĩu inene kuuma Milo arĩcooketie na thĩinĩ.
David lived in the stronghold, and called it the City of David. And he built a city all around from the Millo and inward.
10 Daudi agĩkĩrĩrĩria kũgĩa na hinya tondũ Jehova Ngai Mwene-Hinya-Wothe aarĩ hamwe nake.
David grew greater and greater; for the LORD of hosts was with him.
Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and craftsmen of wood, and craftsmen of a wall; and they built David a palace.
12 Nake Daudi akĩmenya atĩ Jehova nĩamũhaandĩte atuĩke mũthamaki wa Isiraeli na agatũũgĩria ũthamaki wake nĩ ũndũ wa andũ ake a Isiraeli.
And David knew that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel's sake.
13 Aarĩkia kuuma Hebironi, Daudi nĩagĩire na thuriya ingĩ na akĩhikia atumia kũu Jerusalemu, na agĩciarĩrwo aanake na airĩtu angĩ.
David took more secondary wives and wives out of Jerusalem, after he had come from Hebron; and there were born to David more sons and daughters.
14 Maya nĩmo marĩĩtwa ma ciana iria aaciarĩire kũu Jerusalemu: Shamua, na Shobabu, na Nathani, na Solomoni,
These are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,
15 na Ibiharu, na Elishua, na Nefegu, na Jafia,
and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Eliphelet, and Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
16 na Elishama, na Eliada, na Elifeleti.
and Elishama, and Baaliada, and Eliphelet.
17 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa Afilisti maaiguire atĩ Daudi nĩaitĩrĩirio maguta agatuĩka mũthamaki wa Isiraeli, makĩambata magĩthiĩ na mbũtũ ciao ciothe makamũcarie, no Daudi aigua ũhoro ũcio agĩikũrũka agĩthiĩ kĩĩhitho-inĩ kĩa hinya.
When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over Israel, the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the stronghold.
18 Na rĩrĩ, Afilisti nĩmokĩte na makeyaragania gĩtuamba-inĩ kĩa Refaimu;
Now the Philistines came and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim.
19 nĩ ũndũ ũcio Daudi agĩtuĩria ũhoro kũrĩ Jehova, akĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Thiĩ ngatharĩkĩre Afilisti? Nĩũkũmaneana kũrĩ niĩ?” Nake Jehova akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Thiĩ, nĩgũkorwo ti-itherũ nĩ ngũneana Afilisti kũrĩ we.”
So David inquired of the LORD, asking, "Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?" Then the LORD answered David, "Go up, for I will certainly deliver them into your hand."
20 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Daudi agĩthiĩ Baali-Perazimu, na agĩtooreria Afilisti kuo. Akiuga atĩrĩ, “O ta ũrĩa maaĩ moinaga, noguo Jehova aharaganĩtie thũ ciakwa mbere yakwa.” Nĩ ũndũ ũcio handũ hau hagĩĩtwo Baali-Perazimu.
So David came to Baal Perazim, and he defeated them there, and he said, "The LORD has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of waters." Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim.
21 Nao Afilisti magĩtiganĩria mĩhianano yao kũu, nake Daudi na andũ ake makĩmĩoya magĩthiĩ nayo.
And they abandoned their idols there; and David and his men took them away.
22 Afilisti nĩmambatire o rĩngĩ makĩĩaragania Gĩtuamba-inĩ kĩa Refaimu;
The Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the Valley of Rephaim.
23 nĩ ũndũ ũcio Daudi agĩtuĩria ũhoro harĩ Jehova, nake Jehova akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Tiga kwambata ũthiĩ ũrũngĩrĩirie, no thiũrũrũka ũmoime na thuutha, ũmatharĩkĩre ũmarutĩtie na mbere ya mĩtĩ ya mĩkũngũgũ.
And David inquired of the LORD, and the LORD said to him, "You shall not go up. Circle around behind them, and attack them opposite the poplar trees.
24 Rĩrĩa ũrĩigua mũkubio uumĩte igũrũ rĩa mĩtĩ ya mĩkũngũgũ-rĩ, thiĩ narua, tondũ ũguo nĩkuonania atĩ Jehova nĩathiĩte mbere yaku nĩguo ahũũre mbũtũ cia Afilisti.”
And it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the poplar trees, that then you are to act decisively; for then the LORD has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines."
25 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Daudi agĩĩka o ta ũrĩa Jehova aamwathĩte, akĩhũũra Afilisti amarutĩtie Gibeoni, o nginya Gezeri.
And David did as the LORD commanded him, and struck the Philistines from Gibeon all the way to Gezer.
