< 2 Samũeli 24 >

1 Ningĩ marakara ma Jehova magĩakanĩra Isiraeli, nake agĩĩkĩra Daudi meciiria nĩguo amokĩrĩre, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Thiĩ ũgatare andũ a Isiraeli na a Juda.”
And again the anger of Yhwh was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.
2 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio mũthamaki akĩĩra Joabu na anene a mbũtũ cia ita arĩa maarĩ hamwe nake atĩrĩ, “Thiĩi kũndũ guothe mĩhĩrĩga-inĩ ya Isiraeli kuuma Dani nginya Birishiba na mũtare andũ arĩa mangĩthiĩ mbaara, nĩgeetha menye ũrĩa maigana.”
For the king said to Joab the captain of the army, which was with him, Go now through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beer–sheba, and number ye the people, that I may know the number of the people.
3 No Joabu agĩcookeria mũthamaki atĩrĩ, “Jehova Ngai waku angĩrongerera mbũtũ cia ita maita igana, namo maitho ma mũthamaki marokĩĩonera. No nĩ kĩĩ gĩgũtũma mũthamaki mwathi wakwa ende gwĩka ũndũ ta ũyũ?”
And Joab said unto the king, Now Yhwh thy God add unto the people, how many soever they be, an hundredfold, and that the eyes of my lord the king may see it: but why doth my lord the king delight in this thing?
4 No rĩrĩ, mũthamaki, agĩkararia Joabu na anene a mbũtũ cia ita; nĩ ũndũ ũcio makĩehera mbere ya mũthamaki, magĩthiĩ gũtara andũ a Isiraeli arĩa mangĩathiire mbaara.
Notwithstanding the king’s word prevailed against Joab, and against the captains of the army. And Joab and the captains of the army went out from the presence of the king, to number the people of Israel.
And they passed over Jordan, and pitched in Aroer, on the right side of the city that lieth in the midst of the river of Gad, and toward Jazer:
6 Magĩthiĩ Gileadi na bũrũri-inĩ ũcio wa Tahatimu-Hodishi, magĩkinya Dani-Jaani magĩthiũrũrũka magĩkinya Sidoni.
Then they came to Gilead, and to the land of Tahtim–hodshi; and they came to Dan–jaan, and about to Sidon,
And came to the strong hold of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites, and of the Canaanites: and they went out to the south of Judah, even to Beer–sheba.
8 Maarĩkia gũthiĩ bũrũri-inĩ wothe, magĩcooka Jerusalemu thuutha wa mĩeri kenda na matukũ mĩrongo ĩĩrĩ.
So when they had gone through all the land, they came to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.
And Joab gave up the sum of the number of the people unto the king: and there were in Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men that drew the sword; and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men.
10 Nake Daudi agĩthĩĩnĩka mũno ngoro thuutha wa gũtara andũ acio a mbaara, akĩĩra Jehova atĩrĩ, “Nĩnjĩhĩtie mũno nĩ ũndũ wa ũguo njĩkĩte. Rĩu, Wee Jehova-rĩ, ndagũthaitha ũnjehererie mahĩtia, niĩ ndungata yaku. Nĩnjĩkĩte ũndũ wa ũrimũ mũno.”
And David’s heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said unto Yhwh, I have sinned greatly in that I have done: and now, I beseech thee, O Yhwh, take away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.
11 Daudi atanokĩra rũciinĩ rũrũ rũngĩ-rĩ, kiugo kĩa Jehova gĩgĩkinyĩra mũnabii Gadi, ũrĩa wonagĩra Daudi maũndũ, akĩĩrwo atĩrĩ:
For when David was up in the morning, the word of Yhwh came unto the prophet Gad, David’s seer, saying,
Go and say unto David, Thus saith Yhwh, I offer thee three things; choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.
13 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Gadi agĩthiĩ kũrĩ Daudi, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Nĩũkwenda bũrũri waku ũgĩe ngʼaragu mĩaka ĩtatũ? Kana ũũrĩre thũ ciaku mĩeri ĩtatũ igũtengʼeretie? Kana kũgĩe matukũ matatũ ma mũrimũ wa mũthiro bũrũri-inĩ waku? Rĩu-rĩ, wĩciirie ũhoro ũcio ũtue itua rĩrĩa ngũcookeria ũcio ũndũmĩte.”
So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days’ pestilence in thy land? now advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.
14 Daudi akĩĩra Gadi atĩrĩ, “Rĩu ndĩ na thĩĩna mũnene mũno. Nĩtũrekwo tũgwĩre moko-inĩ ma Jehova, nĩgũkorwo tha ciake nĩ nyingĩ; no ndũkareke ngwe moko-inĩ ma andũ.”
And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of Yhwh; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.
15 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Jehova akĩrehera Isiraeli mũthiro kuuma rũciinĩ rũu nginya ihinda rĩrĩa rĩatuĩtwo; nao andũ ngiri mĩrongo mũgwanja kuuma Dani nginya Birishiba magĩkua.
So Yhwh sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed: and there died of the people from Dan even to Beer–sheba seventy thousand men.
16 Rĩrĩa mũraika aatambũrũkirie guoko gwake nĩguo aanange Jerusalemu-rĩ, Jehova akĩigua kĩeha nĩ ũndũ wa kĩnyariirĩko kĩu akĩĩra mũraika ũcio wanangaga andũ atĩrĩ, “Tigĩra hau! Eheria guoko gwaku.” Hĩndĩ ĩyo mũraika ũcio wa Jehova aarũgamĩte kĩhuhĩro-inĩ kĩa ngano kĩa Arauna, ũrĩa Mũjebusi.
And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, Yhwh repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of Yhwh was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite.
17 Rĩrĩa Daudi onire mũraika ũcio woragaga andũ-rĩ, akĩĩra Jehova atĩrĩ, “Niĩ nĩ niĩ njĩhĩtie o na ngeeka ũũru. Andũ aya matariĩ o ta ngʼondu. Nĩatĩa mekĩte? Reke guoko gwaku kũnjũkĩrĩre niĩ na nyũmba yakwa.”
And David spake unto Yhwh when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly: but these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father’s house.
18 Mũthenya o ro ũcio-rĩ, Gadi agĩthiĩ kũrĩ Daudi, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Ambata, ũthiĩ wakĩre Jehova kĩgongona, hau kĩhuhĩro-inĩ kĩa ngano kĩa Arauna ũrĩa Mũjebusi.”
And Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto Yhwh in the threshingfloor of Araunah the Jebusite.
19 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Daudi akĩambata o ta ũrĩa Jehova aathanĩte na kanua ka Gadi.
And David, according to the saying of Gad, went up as Yhwh commanded.
20 Rĩrĩa Arauna aacũthĩrĩirie akĩona mũthamaki na andũ ake magĩũka marorete na kũrĩ we, akiuma nja, akĩinamĩrĩra mbere ya mũthamaki aturumithĩtie ũthiũ thĩ.
And Araunah looked, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him: and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king on his face upon the ground.
21 Arauna akiuga atĩrĩ, “Nĩ kĩĩ gĩatũma mũthamaki mwathi wakwa oke kũrĩ ndungata yake?” Nake Daudi akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Ndooka kũgũra kĩhuhĩro gĩaku kĩa ngano, nĩguo njakĩre Jehova kĩgongona, nĩgeetha mũthiro ũyũ ũkorete andũ ũthire.”
And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshingfloor of thee, to build an altar unto Yhwh, that the plague may be stayed from the people.
22 Arauna akĩĩra Daudi atĩrĩ, “Reke mũthamaki mwathi wakwa oe kĩrĩa gĩothe angĩenda akĩrute igongona. Ici nĩ ndegwa cia igongona rĩa njino, na ici nĩcio indo cia kũhuhĩra ngano namo macooki ma ndegwa matuĩke ngũ.
And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, here be oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood.
23 Atĩrĩrĩ, wee mũthamaki, Arauna nĩaheana indo icio ciothe kũrĩ mũthamaki.” Arauna agĩcooka akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Jehova Ngai waku arogwĩtĩkĩra.”
All these things did Araunah, as a king, give unto the king. And Araunah said unto the king, Yhwh thy God accept thee.
24 Mũthamaki agĩcookeria Arauna atĩrĩ, “Aca, no nginya ngũrĩhe nĩ ũndũ wakĩo. Ndikũrutĩra Jehova Ngai wakwa igongona rĩa njino rĩa kĩndũ kĩrĩa itarĩhĩire thogora.” Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Daudi akĩgũra kĩhuhĩro kĩu kĩa ngano na ndegwa icio na cekeri mĩrongo ĩtano cia betha.
And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto Yhwh my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
And David built there an altar unto Yhwh, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So Yhwh was intreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.
